Our staff of board certified Allergists & Immunologists have extensive experience in treating both kids and adults with allergies, asthma, and immunologic problems. We also employ a full-time physician assistant who works closely with our physicians to ensure that acute problems get promptly addressed.
If you have an allergy, your immune system overreacts to a substance you inhaled, touched or ate. Your immune system controls how your body defends itself. For instance, if you have an allergy to pollen, your immune system identifies pollen as an invader or allergen. Your immune system overreacts by producing antibodies called Immunoglobulin E (IgE).
Asthma is a chronic disease involving the airways in the lungs. If you have asthma your airways are always inflamed. They become even more swollen, and the muscles around the airways can tighten when something triggers your symptoms. This makes it difficult for air to move in and out of the lungs, causing symptoms such as coughing, wheezing, shortness of breath and chest tightness.
Patch testing is useful for the evaluation of allergic contact dermatitis, and may identify allergens not identified by skin prick testing or blood testing. This test is used to identify whether a substance that comes in contact with the skin is causing inflammation of the skin (termed "contact dermatitis").
Established patients on mixed allergy drops may now refill their mixed SLIT allergy drops online! Please visit us at www.atxallergydrops.com to process a refill order. Allergen immunotherapy, also known as allergy shots, is a form of long-term treatment that decreases symptoms for many people with allergic rhinitis, allergic asthma, conjunctivitis (eye allergy) or stinging insect allergy.

Let me preface this by saying that Dr. G and the nurses and the injection folks have all been great. Please use this as an opportunity to improve your practice for your patients. The front desk customer service has been good, except for today. The office wifi seems to need restarting every Friday that I come here to get my allergy shot. I let the front desk know and asked if they could restart it, and the lady at the front desk was completely unhelpful and made up some excuse that she didn't have the key.

Come on lady, it takes 5 seconds of your day to fix and I'm trying to make the most of my time here and get work done. It's the little things that matter and because of this bad customer experience, I may be moving my allergy shot service somewhere else. Last Friday the lady working at the front desk fixed the problem immediately. I don't understand why it's so difficult for some people to deliver good service to their customers/patients especially when it only takes 5 seconds of your day. Or, at least be nice about it. I also recommend that this practice moves everything online instead of snail mail.

I went to go see Dr. Paul Vigo today and just seeing him on a few visits the past year I can truly say I look forward to my visits at this office. I haven't had any issues with waiting or my appointment being canceled with miscommunication like the other reviews mentioned, but one thing that makes my visits enjoyable is that Dr. Vigo explains the process and treatment very well that any Sixth grader should understand!

This is being posted a second time since my first post/review is clearly hidden. Unable to locate my review at all. Hopefully this will work: I scheduled an appointment for my husband to be seen for possible asthma. He gets severe and random coughing fits that he can't control which leave him breathless and at times gasping for air. This has been ongoing for 3 years.

I get all the information of what was needed for his appointment including DL, insurance, a mask and ALL new patient paperwork and to show up 15 min BEFORE his appointment time. Dr Peters sees him and they both go over his symptoms. He then tells my husband that he will check the capacity of his lungs (since athsma is a concern and is the REASON we scheduled this appointment) He then transfers to another room with the nurses assistant or whatever she is, to do the lung capacity test and BAM- THEY REJECTED HIM FOR NOT HAVING A COVID VACCINE!

The woman that was going to perform the test REJECTS my husband for further treatment because he doesn't have a COVID vaccination. He then is sent BACK into the room with the Dr. Peters which he then says "Oh I guess the rules have changed. You are just congested ect." and he gives recommendations to do a sinus rinse and an allergy test. Are you KIDDING me?

This could be a life threatening situation that we are FINALLY getting taken care of and he was DISCRIMINATED against because he didn't have a NON FDA APPROVED VACCINE?!?!?!?! Waste of time, they DID NOT tell me this when scheduling. AND we are calling our insurance company because he was REJECTED treatment because people want to play politics. Lets be very clear. He was in that building for 1 hour and 15 minutes until that question was asked. If this was so important then why wasn't he asked upon arrival? Absolutely ridiculous!

The nurse Trish completed my skin allergy test. I was completely miserable and she was very kind, helpful, and professional. I thanked her profusely because of how awesome she was.

Covid was not kind to me. AT ALL. 29 medications thrown at me by different nurse practitioners and Physicians Assistants alleviated the hard core coughing issues. 9 months later, I'm STILL dealing with never ending post nasal drip. while not considered a life threatening situation, The nighttime dry cough, phlegm, and running nose 24/7 has me contemplating things I shouldn't.

I made an appointment with Dr. Peter's based on my insurance members positive reviews. I arrived a 8:45 for a 9:00 am showtime. 9:01 Dr. Peter's walked in, introduced himself, sat down and asked me how I was. I immediately went into my 9 month Covid spiel, naming all the meds, infusions, and breathing treatments. Whoa, hang on a sec, Dr Peters says let's back up.

He asked me where I worked, what I did, where I was raised, and my past experiences with allergies, surgery's that may be lung or allergy related, and what other medications I may be taking over the counter. I'm not a sickly person, but I've been to my share of doctors. 98 percent of them want the quickest rundown you can give them so they can give you meds and move on to the next victim.

Not only did Doctor Peters spend time gathering a complete understanding of my situation, he took the time putting the pieces of what I'd shared with him, then gave me a detailed explanation of what he believed was going on with me. What a privilege to meet with a doctor who actually listened to me, genuinely assessed my situation, then gave explicit instructions I need to take moving forward.

Aside from that his approach is down to earth, engaging, and his staff is equally so. If you're looking for the sterile, generic, and stuffy atmosphere, , you'll be greatly disappointed!

Unfortunately, no more good doctors or professional nurses here, I guess they don't want to pay quality personnel during the pandemic period. Used to be such a great place, but not anymore. Requires patients to stand in line in the hall and wearing masks. The nurses are rude, treating older patients with no respect. Takes forever to get to the scheduled appointment, no apologies just blaming previous patient.

One of the patients just left the office stating he was coming for allergy shots for over 3 years with no improvement and this is because they are giving a super small doses of allergens that simply have no effect. I looked at my chart and figured out that this is true! This is NOT a medical office, this is a money-making facility. They want you to come for year and years and give you super tiny dose of allergen that will have absolutely no affect and you will keep bringing money to them and have no improvement to your allergies. Don't fall for their fake stories and protocols and guidelines.if their treatment never works, this is not acceptable and not a professional medicine.

I went in for a 930 appt got there at like 845. The lobby was completely packed and people were in there coughing.also Austin was at stage 5 covid restrictions. They take me back at 945 just to tell me the Dr will be an additional 20 min because he still with another patient. I was like um I have another dr appt at 1030 how long is this going to take it was just a followup on my allergy testing.

The guy then says I don't know. So I went to the front and was like can I reschedule or get my money back since this is gonna be longer than what needs to be done. He told me that they could.do telemedicine since I already paid my copay. Mind you it's been 2 months and I have not heard anything and no one is answering the phones when I do call.

Really disappointing experience overall. Front desk staff are friendly but I cannot seem to move any request forward. I spent over $700 in copay and office visit fees and (1) do not have a clear diagnosis and (2) have called the front desk 4 times for follow up bloodwork order to help with a diagnosis and cannot get them to return my call. Today the automated message ran and then hung up on me on two separate calls. If you have options that are covered by your insurance, go elsewhere.

Scheduled an appointment to see doctor Vigo a week in advance. I was called two times to confirm the appointment and I did. I show up today on Monday 30 mins before my appointment and am told there was a mistake and doctor vigo wasn't supposed to work today! I drove an hour and 30 mins to be there and got called thirty mins before my appointment! No one figured out Thursday or Friday that he wouldn't be there?! Highly unprofessional then they had the audacity to ask me to pay a co pay for a virtual visit after screwing up! Horrible experience I'd never come here again!

Front office staff are easy to interact with as is their billing department. I see Dr. Alvarez. He is very friendly and understanding about your suffering with allergies. He listened to my issues and set me up with allergy testing. He was patient with me; didn't talk over me or try to rush me. When it was completed, I was able to meet with him a few minutes later and discover the results and determine a plan of attack.

During the heart of COVID they offered virtual visits, and even now there is social distancing in seating and masks are required. The only thing I did not like was the person doing my allergy testing; she was not friendly and bordered on dismissive and annoyed. But don't let that keep you from coming to this medical office. She's just a small negative mark on a good office.

I really like my doctor, Dr. Vigo, but this practice is run very poorly. It is hard to get a human on the phone, the front desk people are usually pretty short and unfriednly, and their medical records are still paper, which is unheard of. That means that everything is slow here - your doctor can't just pull up your chart to look something up, there's no online portal to schedule or request anything, and it just runs slowly and poorly.

I also found out that I'm paying $20 more a month for allergy drops at this practice than I would at another practice, so I am leaving - that's a significant difference! I also really disliked the nurse who did my allergy testing. She was inappropriate with sharing personal information and it was just overall not a great experience.

I had an appointment last week with Dr. Gutierrez. It was my first time at the facility and I was very impressed. They had a lot of well thought out procedures in place to promote the safety of everyone amidst COVID. The staff was also very friendly. However, my biggest shout out goes to Dr. Gutierrez! She asked many questions, listened well, and was very kind.

But what really struck me was a week later when she personally called me to check-in and see how I had been doing since the last appointment. I know doctor's are often busy so I was shocked and very pleased that she took time out of her day just to do a quick check-in. Great service!

Dr Gutierrez is a phenomenal doctor. I knew this for myself because with her treatment I'm able to live life with less allergy and asthma symptoms. However, when I recommended my mom start seeing Dr G it was a game changer for my family. My mom's severe asthma and reaction to allergens kept her inside for 20 years of life constantly dealing with hives and having to use a breathing machine.

Thanks to Dr G's knowledge of new asthma treatments and quality assessment of my mom's needs, my mom now has a new plan of treatment that's giving her the chance to live at 100%. We're so thankful for Dr G and know that we've found the best asthma and allergy team in Texas!

I have been referred to Dr Peters by my oncologist. He sounds like a great doctor. One major problem - there was no way for me to call and make an appointment. Their main phone number does not allow you to contact anyone - no way to leave a message. No way to talk to a live person. I'm having an urgent medical issue, so I will have to cross Peters off my list and move on. I wrote this review in the hopes the Doc's office sees it an makes some corrections.

Dr. Gutierrez is great! She's thorough and provides excellent explanations and treatment options. I've had excellent experiences with the nursing/technician staff as well. The office, however, really suffers from an outdated patient management system. There is no way to communicate with docs/nurses other than leaving a request for call back. You can't leave a detailed message, so the person calling you back may not have your chart or the info you called about, necessitating another round of calls.

What should be a quick process can take a week. Scheduling is similarly difficult. Again, no online request process and the phone system just seems to drop calls repeatedly. Staff does not call back if this happens. Please update!

I went to Allergy & Asthma Consultants for about 2 years (every 2 weeks) before deciding to go elsewhere for my allergies. The good: clean office, ample parking and typically pretty easy to get allergy shots administered. The stuff that really matters (to a patient) is where I feel there is room for improvement. Doctors are typically late to appointments and I feel don't spend enough time with their patients.

One allergy shot nurse in particular is very judgy and critical (every time you're in there). They are hampered by antiquated systems based on printed papers and faxes which means things take much longer than they should are are always on their terms (not necessarily in the best interests of the patients).

Pros: Dr. Gutierrez is extremely knowledgable, thorough and empathetic. When I am able to speak with her personally, I feel like my questions are answered. Cons: Getting through to anyone for scheduling, discussing questions with your doctor, or anything else logistics related is an extremely frustrating process. Their communication is lacking, and their process for handling patients is some of the worst I've seen.

My feedback is if they could streamline their communication process, and how they handle logistics with their patients, this would be a great practice. For me personally, it has been over a month of playing phone tag and I still have not been able to obtain allergy drops just to get started. Until these communication issues are resolved, I will likely work with a different practice for my allergy needs.

Dr. Peters actually LISTENS to you! He took thorough history of my complicated ENT issues and many surgeries. Each medication (TEN) I'm on on was reviewed for possible causative factors. He was even knowledgeable re:extremely rare cancer I have (so rare only 5 people in entire Austin area have it!). He devised plan of action before my follow-up appointment.

Immediately he informed me that more elaborate allergy testing was likely unnecessary. Wisdom and respect for you as patient are evident! This is the genuine medical care doctors previously provided, when they weren't driven by *15 minutes is up.next in line* approach! Unequivocally recommend him. His staff also is friendly and kind! What a joy to find him!

Unfortunately, I had to deal with this office again. Again, the front desk staff was extremely rude. Surprise surprise. Another note about the office staff -- they won't lift a finger to help you. They won't call in your prescription to a pharmacy, and they won't phone your insurance to see what is covered. You'll have to do it yourself.

When I phoned my insurance company and told them this, they said they had never heard of any other practice doing such a thing. I have a point-of-service insurance plan which would have paid the complete cost of my allergy tests had they been scheduled along with a visit, but my tests were scheduled separately, meaning I had to pay more out of pocket. So if you have BCBS HealthSelect, beware.

I cannot say enough about my positive experience with Dr. Alvarez. I am SO grateful for him and how he has helped me with managing my eczema after it came back nine years ago. I have a long history of severe eczema, contact dermatitis and seasonal allergies. Prior to being referred to Dr. Alvarez, I was seen by two other dermatologists and two allergists.

I had undergone PATCH testing, nutritional counseling, two years of food testing, chemical and environmental testing, bleach baths, special diets, food diaries, sun lamps, steroid creams, balms, special shampoos (too many to list) prednisone medications etc. I had exhausted my Dr's and every solution available and was seen by the Dr's at the Mayo Clinic.

They helped me sort things out however I still had to follow up at home with limited options. I have been a patient of Dr. Alvarez since 2//17 and since then he continues to rule in and out ways to help me. We have found Immunology shots, Eucrisa and Dupixent Injections to be the best of what I have needed. I was one of the first to use Dupixent in the Allergy & Asthma Consultant practice thanks to Dr. Alvarez!

I am now clear of my eczema and rarely have flare ups. My life has changed because I am managing my eczema. Dr. Alvarez is compassionate, kind and goes out of his way to help his patients. I have never experienced a Dr. seeking me out in the waiting room to speak to me. He is invested in the care of his patients and takes the time to educate and give resources as well. Most of all he took the time and patience to persevere with me. I have recommended him to several people. THANK YOU DR. ALVAREZ!

I *love* my doctors and every single member of the medical team I've interacted with here. Dr. Gutierrez is a great doctor who takes lots of time to really understand a patient's issues, which I appreciate. The MAs are all warm and friendly and the injection team works hard to get people through the office quickly. That said, I would echo what the low-star reviewers have said here: The business practices of this office are behind the times.

There are often long hold times when you call and no online scheduling options. All of the billing is by mail with no online payment option. Records are kept on paper in thick files. They can only accept faxes - no email. If I didn't have such a great care team, it would be enough to send me running to another practice. I'd love it if the doctors in this practice took some steps to modernize their business so I could give them the unequivocal five-star review they deserve.

My experience in this clinic has been awful. It's really hard to get a hold of anyone or get a call back. They charge quite a bit for the drops- $85 monthly. and a starter pack for $225-250 I've called other places and it's ranging from $50-65 a month. I've been trying to transfer my records over and I can't get anyone to call me back.

They only take release forms via Fax or by mail! This office is living in 1990. My doctor wasn't really my favorite. there was not much explaining about my testing results. Some of the office staff is really nice but some of the ladies in the front are just rude. I would recommend somewhere else. do you research. Also, read other reviews. The similarities are there. Wish I would've listened to these reviews!

Dr. Vigo is my allergy doctor and I am very happy with the allergy (Cedar) treatments. Very professional and friendly, relatively quick given the large number of patients- I think staff is doing great effort to serve patients in a timely manner. Overall, very satisfied and hope to see good service in the future!

I recently consulted Dr. Vigo for and I am very satisfied with the results so far and highly recommend him. What impressed me most is his ability and willingness to listen and the display of great care for his patients. It doesn't hurt that he has a great sense of humor, relates well to the patient and discusses/answers any questions. The office is also very efficient and the "handoff" between the initial screening through the nurse practitioner and Dr. Vigo is completely seamless with very little wait time in between (the longest wait period I experienced so far was probably less than 2 minutes). Thumbs up.

Dr. Peters is wonderful. What a pleasant visit! He takes time to get to know you as a person & a patient to better understand how your lifestyle might contribute to any allergy issues you are experiencing. He is knowledgeable & patient in both listening to your concerns and answering questions. He provided exceptional recommendations for treatment, emphasizing treatments that have the least dependency on medications or pricey products. (In my case I was able to just switch to a better moisturizer and remove the irritant) I would highly recommend Dr. Peters and would see him again if needed in the future.

Looks like i'm branching off and reviewing my new doctor. After 3 months of suffering from allergies and countless visits to my primary care doctor getting just temporary relief I got the privilege of meeting Dr Paul Vigo. He sincerely listened to my problems and current regiment of antihistamines, holistic practices, decongestants, inhalers, and cough suppressants but still maintain a chronic cough.

I was at my last straw. I thought I have to move out of Austin to feel better. Dr Vigo gave me a couple of shots that helped with the cough and congestion with direction to stop taking antihistamines to he have the fun and exciting allergy testing. I was introduced to the nicest nurse. I think her name was Shannon whom preformed the procedure of 64 sticks, 24 of them intradermal by syringe and 40 just little needle sticks.

I should remember her name, after all she gave me 64 reasons I should but she had a great hand, was well organized with a great bedside manner and informative to make me feel at ease. She turned on an video which talked about allergies and treatments to help take my mind off of the sticks and a hour later she documented the results. lucky needles don't bother me. just mild discomfort.

She gave a anti itch medicine and stressed the importance of not scratching them to prevent infection of the injection sites. The staff got me an immediate next day appointment for Dr Vigo to access the results and come up with a medical plan. I was expecting allergy shots or drops if my insurance would cover but he instead wanted to try to treat it with just medicines.

That was great news. I work long hours and taking time off to get shots would definitely hinder my work load and schedule. He prescribed me some different medications and consulted on the use and how each medicine takes care of my variety of conditions and as a parting gift gave me some very pricy samples and a couple of coupons. Unfortunately for me 2 of the prescriptions are not covered by my insurance. Sigh.

I go back in 5 weeks to see how well the medicine regiment goes. Well great news is my constant coughing has stopped. I greatly reduced blowing my nose. My voice is recovering from the irritation and I just feel 100% better I strongly recommend Dr Vigo and his staff to handle your Austin Cedar allergies. Yes, I noticed that 1 of the front desk ladies was moody at my first visit but in my subsequent visits she was very nice.

The other front office staff ladies are very nice. I don't know how well the allergy shot people are but from what I've seen since they are out in the open in a side open room in the waiting room. I personally think they should use the curtain while patients are inside but from what I saw they didn't mind the openness. hope this review helps.
