This office has a very streamlined process of checking you in and getting you right to your appointment on time. As a first-time patient, I had to sign first-time patient forms and those kept me busy for the entire time I was waiting for my appointment anyway. The doctors were amazing, patient, and asked appropriate questions- on top of not having me wait too long in the room either. Very wonderful service, highly recommend for your dermic issues/concerns!

Dr Rebecca is amazing, caring, and a great dermatologist. My children and I have been seeing her for over a year now and her patience is wonderful when it comes to myself and my children. The office is clean, the secretaries are very kind as well and polite. It is never a long wait while I'm there I highly recommend this dermatologist for all your dermatology needs

Amanda was super sweet and made sure I was comfortable during my first visit. Dr. Wheat was nice but for doing a full body exam for precancerous spots I felt she moved a bit too quick. It was my first visit ever to a dermatologist so I thought it would be a little more thorough then it was.

I've been going to Anne Arundel Dermatology for at least 13 years and have never had a bad experience. Those who work the front have always been friendly, courteous and quick to get you in and out in a timely fashion. My time with the doctors and their assistants has always been a pleasant experience. They listen and explain any concerns in detail and make you feel comfortable during your appointment.

Dr Dawn is fast but very thorough. She makes sure you understand everything and will re-explain it if need be. All of the office staff is pleasant, friendly and never leave you waiting long. I'm so happy that I moved to their practice a few years ago! Highly recommend them

My wife was here yesterday. Front desk checked her in fast. She didn't have to wait long until she was called. Dr. dawn was very professional, attentive and answered all her questions. Her assistant was awesome as well. My wife was very happy with her visit. We will definitely be back if needed.

I had a wonderful visit with my doctor at Anne Arundel Dermatology. She addressed all my issues relating to rashes I had. She and her nurse assistant were very happy to explain the best ways to effectively apply the medicines the Dr. ordered. All the staff I dealt with were kind and courteous. Overall, I was very pleased with my visit and would recommend their businessman to others.

I have been to Anne Arundel Dermatology twice in the last few months and I have nothing but good things to say about both visits. A great experience from the time I walked in until the time I left. The office admins at the front desk are professional and kind and get you checked in and out quickly. Dr. Dawn is amazing! She finds out your concerns, addresses them, advises on next steps and you are on your way. Fast and efficient, but not rushed. The entire office is clean and COVID protocols are followed. What's not to like? I would definitely recommend.

First time visit. All covid protocols were followed. Office staff was efficient. Wait time was less then 10 minutes! Total time being seen was 15 minutes. If I'm being picky I would say they need a new stereo system in the waiting room and some relaxing music and lighting also in wait room. Overall a good experience!

The staff and doctors are friendly and great. I have been coming to them for 15+ years. Offices and rooms are always clean. I love that fact that I get there for my appointment, I check in and I am called to see the dr in a timely manner. There's no waiting around for long periods, which I love! Dr. Gwynn and her staff top notch!

I was welcomed and given paperwork to complete. I was called to the exam room, a health assistant was training a new staff member. The doctor arrived on time, completed my exam thoroughly. She was friendly and answered my questions. I will be sure to go back!

Everyone at the office was very pleasant. Was seen very quickly. Dr Lonergan was very thorough and has a great bedside manner. One item, it would be very helpful to have the paperwork sent or emailed early to complete at home.

I love the way the intake team is very cognizant of health issues even before you see the physicians. They query patients about COVID safety. That to me was very important. They were very polite with each patient in a way that made both patients and anyone who accompanies the patient feel at ease.

My third visit with Rebekah Smyth was a few days ago and I've been truly at ease with her. She's been very compassionate and pleasant. I felt welcome from the time I was first greeted by the staff, they have all been friendly, efficient, and kind. With one minor exception, I've spent little time waiting to be seen or waiting for the PA to come into the room. My issue was simple and took little explanation, I felt she would have taken the time necessary to educate me if needed.

I found the experience to be a very positive one. The staff were very professional and compassionate and helped with my concerns about the procedure. They thoroughly explained everything that was to be done and the potential outcomes which helped ease my concerns and anxiety for the procedure. I truly felt like they cared for me as a person rather than just another patient.

I was at the dermatologist's office for my annual skin exam today, and I overheard that this older man could not afford his copay. He asked if he could pay them when he gets his next paycheck. I was going to offer to pay depending on their reaction. To my surprise, the front office staff was very patient and understanding. They said he could pay when he had the money.

I was extremely impressed with their kindness, professionalism and compassion. There are good people out there, and I left the office feeling very humbled. This practice deserves 5 stars, and I will definitely recommend them to my friends and neighbors. The doctor was amazing and gave a thorough skin exam, too!

This review is specific to the scheduling process. "Current patients" (those who were seen in the last 2 years) are offered same week appointments, while those who have not been seen recently - even with an urgent need (hives) are forced to wait a month to be seen. The system seems borderline unethical. Scheduling is through ann arundel dermatology - 20+ minutes of waiting on a phone system to speak to a human, and cancelling an appointment requires the same process.

You get confirmation phone calls, texts, and emails - all of which you cant cancel through. Had to wait on muzak again to avoid a $50 cancellation fee. I went here before Excel became part of this awful system, had a reasonable experience, and they still had my patient information when I called this year. With these changes I won't be going back.

Suggest calling Luxe Dermatology instead (see review) they were able to see me as a new patient the day after I called because they treat people like humans, and were skilled enough to address my medical condition in a timely manner.

I had an appointment this morning and it was fast and seamless. Thanks to Dr. Rebekah who examined my face and her assistant. However, I'm disappointed I've been waiting for weeks to get a call from Dr. Wheat on my treatment options. Stay the HELL AWAY FROM here! Especially Dr. Fink! She is not capable of diagnosing a simple skin condition and jumped to a rare disease for my little girl! When biopsy came back, she was still clueless and did not know how to read it. I had to go to a real derm who laughed and told me it's normal! There is a strange woman who doesn't speak and follows doctor around with an iPad, taking creepy pics of you. Incompetent, unprofessional.just stay away!

And on top of that when you leave they bill you and try to over bill you. They are dangerous. Stay away I can't emphasis that enough and keep your kids away. It's better to take them to a REAL derm ped, message me if you need a good one.

***Update*** Dr. Duyen Faria For reasons unknown in 2018 Dr. Faria left Excel dermatology and a group of us was trying to find her and we did! Dr. Faria can be found at DNA and associated dna-associate.com Dr. Duyen Faria (score reflect on her as a dermatologist) This post is for information purposes and the score reflect as my experince with Duyen Faria. Dr. Faria is one of the best doctors combining western and eastern medicine.

She was able to cure a Vietnam veteran suffering for 30 years for what is called "Jungle Rot". As a personal experience. I completly trust her and her professionalism. She was able to cure me from a rash caused by a product from a big skin care company, which they took full responsability and gave me few doctors choices. I research each one of them.

My desition was clear after I found out Dr. Faria have a medical degree in internal medicine has well in dermatology in addition she have a master in pharmacology. Her reviews are high and every person I recommended have been really happy.

This place is strange. I made an appointment because I have oily, acne prone skin. I was just looking for some advice, and maybe a retinoid. When I arrived, I was seen pretty quickly, which is great. The dermatologist was very nice and gave me a lot of free samples. I was prescribed a retinoid (tretinoin), but was never told how to use it, and was not given any necessary warnings (like. wear SPF, and don't mix it with other active ingredients, like Salicylic Acid or BHAs). Whatever, I knew this info anyways. what I found very strange was that they required me to use a specific mail-order pharmacy to fill my prescription.

I had to use a specific one that "they frequently work with because it's cheaper." I guess that means they probably get some sort of kick-back from this pharmacy. Another thing I found strange was that I wasn't able to get a generic version of the tretinoin. Instead, the pharmacy told me it was name-brand only (Altreno), which isn't covered by insurance. huh?! Why?!

I have insurance, and I want to use it. If the prescription was sent to CVS or my normal mail-order pharmacy, it would have been covered. So now I have to pay $55 instead of $20. Because of these weird things, I will not return. I will just have my regular doctor refill my tretinoin so I can use my insurance.

I have been a patient of Exel Dermatology for many years. I highly recommend Dr. Suarez. Not only is she extremely knowledgeable but she also thoroughly explains whatever procedure that needs to be done in a way that the patient understands and is made to feel comfortable. All her assistants (especially Ha) are very helpful, upbeat and kind. And as far as the front desk is concerned ~ Janeth, you are the BEST!

I have been a longtime patient of Excel Dermatology, Dr. Suarez specifically. From the front desk to the initial screening professional and the doctor, everyone is always competent, caring and professional. Like many people, we are used to waiting inordinate amounts of time to get to the treatment or procedure. I was able to get in, get screened, have a growth removed and be on my way in less than an hour.

Everything always goes smoothly and the Doctor is always very careful to not overlook anything and ensures I understand my situation well before she leaves. I recommend Excel Dermatology to anyone. My entire family goes there and has had consistently good experiences. Thank you Excel!

I've seen both Dr Suarez and Dr Faria and I love them both. Most of my visits occur with Dr Faria. I find her to be very in touch with me and my needs. She is gentle, kind, and caring. I also see her for botox. She carefully examines my needs, and never overdoes it. She requests a follow up appt a week later to ensure that the injections were proper and that I am happy with the results. I highly recommend her for cosmetic injections and overall dermatological care.

I would go someplace else if you are looking for a doctor that cares about you and have a good bedside manner. My review is from my experience with Dr. Faria from many years ago and from what I see on other reviews, things haven't changed much. The fact that I still remember how it feels to be ridiculed by Dr. Faria after these years tells you that regardless of her so called expertise from her long years of being a doctor, you are better off going to other dermatologists in the area.

I went to see her regarding my concerns with some bumps on my face. At the first appointment, she told me that she could use laser treatment for them and even did a sample. At my follow up appointment, I told her that it left a tiny scar. She told me to come back in few weeks. I returned and she told me to come back again in few weeks for a follow up.

At my fourth appointment, the intern took me in first and asked questions about my daily skin care routine and why I was there. I told her my skin care regiment and that I still have these scars. Then few minutes later, Dr. Faria walks in and does her examination and tells me (almost yelling) that for my ugly scars, I should go see a plastic surgeon.

Her demeanor was condescending and uncalled for and I had no idea why she was treating me this way. I eventually reduced to tears and asked her why she was talking to me this way. She said it's because my chart said I indicated I'm using certain products and I have scars. She said i came to complain. I responded that well, that's because that's what the intern asked me about my skin care regiment and why I was there.

And I reminded her that it was Dr. Faria who kept telling me to come back in few weeks. Why would I come back if all I wanted to do was complain? I can do that without having to pay my co-pays. I was so upset that I couldn't stop crying. Dr. Faria then left me in the exam room crying. She told the receptionist to give me a refund, which I still have not received and I don't care about that.

There are many doctors in the area. Yes, you want the expertise and knowledge but it goes a long way if the doctor actually shows that he/she cares about you and respects you. Right now, I'm under the care of a great team of dermatologists who cares about me and listens to my concerns without judgement.

I never even made it to the office. The absolute lack of customer service from a scheduling and receptionist standpoint is abysmal. For starters, I tried calling the office at 10:00 am on a Wednesday. No one answered, so I left a voicemail, expecting a prompt call back. I never got one. Then I tried booking an appointment through their website. I selected the 8:00 am appointment that was 2 weeks away.

The next day, I received a follow-up voicemail asking me to answer a few additional questions in response to my online appointment request. I never heard back about the voicemail that I left (I left two different phone numbers as an experiment). When I returned that call, I was placed on a 10 minute hold. After the 10 minutes, I hung up and called back.

When I explained that I had been on hold for 10 minutes, I received no apology, but asked how I could be helped. I explained that I was returning a voicemail about an upcoming appointment. The woman on the phone proceeded to tell me that the 8:00 am appointment that I requested was not available. Apparently, their website lists appointment times that aren't available; those are just requests.

The first available for the day I wanted was 10:00. After all of this, I decided that I didn't want to deal with the lack of competency nor give my money to a poorly run business. I will be taking my business elsewhere. TL;DR - Staff is incompetent. Look elsewhere.

BE CAREFUL PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR MEDICAL RECORDS! FRAUDULENT CLAIMS. I know there are a lot of problems with the receptionist so that may be the issue. They charged me for two extra visits that I was not at. I asked for a refund for a prepaid service I was going to have after I realized these fraudulent claims and they asked if they could just give me a personal check instead of going through the insurance.

I said no I am going through the right steps to make sure I have records after all of the issues I have had with them. I have come realize that they are billing out of FL and there billing department is extremely difficult to get a hold of. BEWARE!

There are medical doctors, and then there are real healers. Dr. Faria is more than a licensed medical doctor - she is a true Doctor. Someone who does more than push prescriptions. She takes into account intangible factors and feelings when diagnosing and educating her patients. I was referred to her by a friend who RAVED about her. He was right. The office space is a little dumpy, but I'd walk through the snow for Dr. Faria. Luckily for me, this mole isn't cancerous - but even if it were, I know I'd be ok good hands with Dr. Faria!

Feb 01, 2016
Dr. Faria is very knowledgeable which is the only reason I'd even give this review 2 stars. I did not have a good experience here. It started with the receptionist who I find to be very rude. I had a bad taste before I even entered the office because she wasn't pleasant over the phone while scheduling my appointment. Not to mention that it was very annoying to make an appointment in the first place because the first few times I called, I got a busy tone.

Then I tried to make an appointment online - no email, no callback, nothing. I finally called again and got through which is when I encountered the receptionist for the first time. I came in for my appointment and once again was not greeted politely. I expected the administrative staff to make me feel welcome as it was my first time at this practice; that was not and probably will never be the case.

I was brought back after about 10 minutes (no big deal) and a young lady took pictures of my face. Then enters Dr. Faria. She calls me by the wrong name and when I correct her, she says something along the lines of "Oh, you're not supposed to be my patient, this is wrong." To which I responded that I had specifically requested her when I made my appointment because I appreciated her holistic approach.

She and her assistant went outside and talked. When she came back in she started her rant "I'm Dr. Faria. I've been doing this for 30+ years. I know everything there is to know." She started going through her explanation of why I have acne and is spouting off a laundry list of lifestyle changes I should make while writing them down. I like to ask a lot of questions but Dr. Faria does not like to answer a lot of questions.

The first time I tried to make a comment or ask a question she said "Don't interrupt me". Well. this didn't sit well with me. I heard her out, she rushed out of the room, didn't say "bye", "thanks", "nice to meet you" or anything. At this point, her assistant takes over and this was the most frustrating point. Dr. Faria recommended a face wash, gel, and pill and it was the assistant's job to wrap up all the loose ends.

The assistant did not speak English well and I had an impossible time understanding what she wanted me to do or what she was prescribing me. Super uncomfortable spot to be in. I have no desire to ever go back. The whole time felt as if I was imposing or causing trouble for simply coming in for my appointment. Read the other reviews; I'm not the only one who has had trouble with the administration.

If the Excel team actually reads these reviews, I hope they take this one thing away: Get new administrative help and assistants that actually know what they are doing and care about the patients. This will decrease the stress that is caused on the doctors and hopefully allow the doctors to be better at what they do.

Researched Dr. Suarez having come from Baltimore where I often saw Hopkins or University of Maryland doctors. Thought I had made an appointment with Dr. Suarez, but then saw Dr. Faria. After a 10 minute exam during which I had no clothes on and the assistant kept walking in and out and actually talked to someone with outside in the hall. Dr. Faria actually asked me if I wanted that mole taken off.

Cause if you think it looks weird, we can take it off. Uh, last I checked, you're the doctor, you tell me! Half the reason I went was to see if she thought it looked potentially cancerous. Receptionist was not very friendly, neither was the checkout person. Also, turns out I had scabies at the time and Dr. Faria never noticed although I had bites. So less than impressed and will not be returning.

I wish I had checked yelp before going here. As someone mentioned below, it was one of our most frustrating experiences. It was the only place in the area that I could get a last minute appointment. Our appointment with the medical staff went fine; we saw the physician's assistant and then she confirmed her diagnosis with one of the doctors. Our major problem was and still is with the administrative staff; we were billed twice and still haven't received a refund after numerous phone calls!

They were very adamant that we pay the $110 fee with our credit card at the desk after our appointment (even though they were in-network which should've been a red flag) and then they charged our insurance flex account again! When I call, all they keep telling me is that they don't handle billing (seriously?) and give me a number for their "billing department" out in Florida that never answers and never calls back despite numerous messages. It's been almost a year! I would be extremely cautious when and if you decide to go here. And the ointments they prescribed didn't even work.

I went to see Dr. Faria because my mother recommended her and loves her. Unfortunately, I didn't leave feeling the same way as my mom. Dr. Faria was condescending (which according to other reviews is not unlike her) and although she seemed knowledgeable, I'd rather take advice from someone who knows what they're talking about AND is polite.

But that's just me and obviously she has charmed others out there so if you're not worried about the possibility of being talked down to, she is probably just fine!

The billing team is pathetic and you can never reach them in Florida. The issue is that I have paid money at the hospital and they have not accounted for it in my account and send me a new bill showing me I owe them money. I have also contacted the hospital but they always direct u towards the billing team.

Wow, so incredibly bad. I thought I had made an appointment with Dr. Suarez, but when I arrived, it turned out it was with Dr. Faria. My husband and I both came from DC to the appointment and spent about 30 minutes waiting to be seen. There was a note hanging up in the waiting room asking for those waiting to show patience because the office's policy is to provide thorough and quality care to their patients and, once seen, each patient would receive the same level of thorough care.

So we sat patiently. I was happy with Dr. Faria at first because, although brusque, she seemed knowledgable and provided some information beyond what could be easily found on Google (which is not the case with all doctors lately). But about 10 minutes into the appointment, she suddenly, with no warning whatsoever, launched into an angry and accusatory tirade about how my appointment had gone on too long, that her other patients were waiting and getting upset, and that she doubted that another provider would spend as much time with me as she had already done.

With that, the appointment was abruptly over, and I was in complete shock. Can't believe my husband and I wasted a 1/2 day of work only to be disparaged and left mostly without answers. Waste of time, waste of emotion, waste of my copay. Would recommend others to seek help elsewhere.

Do you know that REAL dermatologists are disappearing? Seriously! Most so called "dermatologists" are just folks trying to grow their plastic surgery practice and throwing Botox parties. Who do you go to when you really need a real dermatologist? Someone with the knowledge and experience to actually determine if that innocent looking mole on your back is benign or cancerous? Who?

Well let me tell you about Dr. Duyen Faria at Excel Dermatology institute. This lady is an angel.she is amazing and one of THE most intelligent doctors I have ever had the honor of meeting. Dr Faria truly knows her stuff and is a REAL dermatologist. Her knowledge of all things dermatological is enhanced with her big heart and "patient comes first" nature.

From the time you meet her you'll be impressed and she is the kind of doctor to happily answer any and all questions you may have. Not only that, but she takes the time to learn about you and will actually remember you on your next visit. The staff at Excel are also great and they'll do their best to make you feel at ease and answer any of your questions.

If you're driving to their office, you must know they're on the 2nd floor of their brick building. The door isn't visible from the street, but once you park you'll see signs for Excel Dermatology. For patients unable to walk up the stairs, there is an elevator that will conveniently carry you up to Excel's front door. I'm happy to know that I now have a great dermatologist just minutes from my office. Thanks Dr. Duyen Faria and all the fine people at Excel Dermatology.
