Services
We know that terminating a pregnancy is not an easy decision. But we will make the process as positive, painless and gentle as possible. Whatever your situation, we will do the maximum permissible by law to help. Use the Pregnancy Calculator to determine how far along you are in your pregnancy, and the options available to you.
The abortion pill, also referred to as medical abortion or medication abortion, is actually two different pills: the first pill is taken at the Alamo Women's Clinic, and then the other pill is taken no longer than 72 hours later, at home. The first pill, Mifepristone, blocks the hormone necessary for pregnancy and the second pill, Misoprostol, stimulates your uterus to cramp, bleed and expel the pregnancy - similar to a miscarriage. How you take the Misoprostol will be explained to you before you leave the Alamo Women's Clinic.
All Alamo Women's Abortion Clinic physicians are well trained, experienced Ob-Gyns. Our doctors also are all American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology certified and our medical staff is specially trained and experienced in 1st and 2nd-trimester abortions. Our nurses and staff are selected not just for their medical experience and excellence, but also for being especially caring and committed to our patients. You can count on them to respect your dignity and make your experience as gentle and stress-free as possible.
As members of the National Abortion Federation, we can apply directly to them for a grant on your behalf. You need to qualify and the amount awarded is based on need, but we'll handle all the paperwork for you. That can substantially lower the cost to you. Have an issue with getting to our clinic? Bridge Collective is a volunteer group that provides free rides to women seeking abortion in Central Texas. The Lilith Fund supports the right of all Texans to make their own reproductive choices, regardless of income.
According to Texas Law, a woman under 18 years of age requires parental consent before she can obtain an abortion. However, that does not mean you do not have options. The Texas organization Jane's Due Process will help you through a legal process (at no charge) to have an abortion without notifying a parent.

They seem nice but literally only offer abortion services. Why do we live in a world so bent on controlling women's bodies that even the choice to make a choice has been taken from us? I am excited that this place offers the services they do. I just wish there was a place for poor folks to go get help and not to have any kind of decisions forced on them. Keep up the good work but dang I wish we could just be free to live the best life possible, but both sides of this aisle seem to be fighting more for themselves than for us!

Unfortunately we had to go through with the medical process about a week ago. We decided since I was so early in pregnancy and we're already young parents, to choose this option and wait a little longer for our second child to be born. As hard as it was, I understand I made a responsible decision for myself and my daughter as well as our families.

I hate to say that this clinic made me very uneasy, as nice as the staff were. When I called during office hours with any questions, they would give me a short answer in a rude tone and more than once hung up right after their answer. I never caught the doctors name or any of the nurses names because no one introduced themselves. They made it feel more like a business setting with a time crunch rather than a health and wellness visit for a procedure.

I did show up about an hour late to my follow up because I had misread the appointment time. They were literally closing when I got there and one nurse did go ahead and check me out anyways. I thought that was very kind. But since then I've tried twice to use their 24 hr nurse hotline and I never get through to anyone and she never responds to my texts like her voicemail suggests she would. Overall a little disappointing since I was so uncomfortable and upset about making the decision to do this already.

Please read. I got my abortion last year. They call you in a hallway where you take a seat with curtains as dividers. After that they take you for an ultrasound. They didn't give me any directions of what was going to happen they just asked if I wanted surgical or pill procedure. When they were done with the ultrasound they left & they left the picture on the screen so I could OBVIOUSLY SEE.The day of the procedure they gave me some pills and I had to ask WHAT THEY WERE FOR.

I was called back to my room. The doctor accidentally injected the medication directly on my arm instead of the IV CATHETER. I had some cramping and moved my hand, the nurse threw my hand out of the way RUDELY. After, the nurse put a pad on my underwear and DID NOT HELP me get dressed or walk out, I literally felt like a DOG AND RUSHED. I was SUPER DIZZY.

The nurses are so rude they talk AT you not TO YOU. The recovery nurse was so lovely. I will always remember the comfort she gave me. I would recommend to not go here. Go somewhere else.

The women were very kind, and not once did I feel ashamed or judged which I love considering this is already a hard decision to make. I would definitely recommend this facility.

I think there's a lot of good about this clinic, but also some bad. The good is that it is cost effective and they do provide good resources to you. There was a bit of a wait because there were a lot of people but things still seemed to flow and you weren't kept waiting for too long. Now, I did see a lot of mentions in the comments about different encounters with the nurses and the staff and I will say.

There are a lot of staff members that work here, so it's safe to say your encounter could vary from person to person. That is something that I think this clinic should work on, which is getting some consistency amongst the staff members. Some very sweet and charismatic, others extremely frantic not personable with you and provided what felt like very rushed/unthorough services.

For instance, the ultrasound took all of five seconds with no warning that anything would be inserted into me. It happened so fast & It was very awkward. The doctor read me my sonogram results from across the room while standing by the door as if in a huge hurry. Plus there wasn't much further conversation after being told that the heartbeat was detected and there wasn't anything they could do.

Something about the experience just left me feeling a bit unsatisfied. Hopefully this review is helpful to someone, just to give some perspective but again, everyone's experience is different.

This place is amazing. Very friendly staff (which is hard to find), informative, and non-judgmental! Amazing place. Also they have a lot of funding available.

I was there last week and all the ladies and Doctor I encountered were kind. The ladies in the front all handled my decision with respect and grace. I will say this, if you're still on the wall about your decision, for me and my experience, they don't verbally tell you anything, instead you receive a stack of paperwork to fill out addressing your decision, procedure, side effects, etc.

Keep in mind, although they are all kind, this is still a place of business providing a service. Once the process starts with the first set of pills, no one will be asking you if you're sure, they provide their service and send you on your way. Once the procedure starts, everything after is very quick. You sit in the recovery room for a very brief time before you're released with paperwork, I appreciated that because, no one should want to stay there longer then needed.

First off, I have had to reschedule 3 times because of misinformation on which procedure is being done/been given different information from every person I've talked to. Also, Every time I am scheduled for a time, I wait HOURS in the waiting room before I am seen. I do not understand why they tell you to be here at a certain time when you will just end up waiting the whole day to actually see a nurse/doctor.

This has happened with multiple women I've seen in and out of here. It is very frustrating. Many go up to the desk and ask "how much longer?" but the response is always the same, "they don't know." It just honestly seems like the staff does not care or take into consideration of what's going on.

The staff is wonderful. All the way around great patient care from everyone. The receptionist are great upon arrival. The staff handling medical history, etc. are great. They take the time to answer all questions you may have. The drs I have met are compassionate and understanding to the needs of the patient. Everyone has a unique story to why they me be needing the services of this facility, and each one of the staff is there for you during a very touchy moment in your life. I highly recommend if ever needing the services provided at this facility to come here. To get the best service.
