Our state-of-the-art offices in Monroe and Lambertville, MI provide onsite digital x-ray, digital scanning for custom molded orthotics, diagnostic ultrasound, diabetic shoes, and physical therapy. A Podiatrist is a physician and surgeon dedicated to the treatment of the foot and ankle. There are 3 categories of physicians and surgeons in the state of Michigan; Medical Doctor (MD), Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) and Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM). We are the only health care professional whose training focuses specifically on the foot, ankle and related body systems. After obtaining an undergraduate degree, the podiatric physician spends four years in a college of podiatric medicine to obtain a doctorate degree.
Did you know the foot has 26 bones, 33 joints, 107 ligaments, 19 muscles, and numerous tendons? These parts all work together to allow the foot to move in a variety of ways while balancing your weight and propelling you forward or backward on even or uneven surfaces. It is no wonder that 75 percent of all Americans will experience foot problems at one point or another in their lifetimes.

Though not a regular patient I have been seen in the office several times for various foot problems. I have always been satisfied with my treatment both medically and personally. This week has been dramatically different however. I am leaving for hiking trip in a week and Nicole, the receptionist was unable to schedule an appointment for a couple of problems that just developed. Neither office had an opening. She offered no alternatives, suggested no other options for care. I am very disappointed with their lack of assistance.

I have been to other podiatrist over the years, they were all good doctors they were all very good podiatry offices. A few years back I was referred to Dr. Hughes's office at foot and ankle specialist, I am so thankful for the referral. Dr. Hughes is by far the best podiatrist I have been to. His bedside manner is fantastic he is direct with his answers to your questions and he has a no nonsense attitude. The staff at Foot & Ankle Specialist is outstanding they are on top of their game I cannot say enough for Monroe and Foot & Ankle Specialist.

Dr. Hughes is really good. He's very thorough and friendly. He take's good care of my feet and I have been very happy with the service. Sometimes a bit of a wait but I would recommend him and their other physicians. They recently moved into a bigger office which is nice office and the staff is friendly.
