In late 1920, the Arkansas Baptist State Convention purchased the former Little Rock Sanitarium property in downtown Little Rock to build a new hospital to serve the state of Arkansas and began temporary operations in the sanitarium building. Although the original hospital opened its doors with less than a hundred beds, the small building served 1,315 patients during its first year of operation.

This hospital is the worst place you can go if you have diabetes. I stayed in there mental facility a few years ago and they checked my blood sugar at breakfast and since it was in the 120s they decided I didn't need my long activing insulin or my short acting even though they had just given me a French toast breakfast with regular syrup. By 10 I was trying to tell them that I did not feel well and they need to check my blood sugar and they refused, saying they would check it at lunch.

At lunch it was over 600, so I made them let me go against medical advice. The night before that horrible morning, I had a MAN in my room, I was staying with another girl, but this male patient kept coming into our room. Every time I went to get the security guy that was supposed to keep anyone out of our hallway, he was asleep and I had to actually wake him up to come get the guy out of my room.

My Mom just stayed there this week and she is a type 2 diabetic, who has never taken an insulin shot until she stayed here. Why do your doctors not try to regulate diabetes the way people do it for themselves every day at home? Why are you changing the way they take their meds and insulin when we are not even at your hospital because of our diabetes? It just doesn't make sense to me. I hope I am never in a wreck close to this hospital, if the wreck didn't kill me, this hospital would.

The staff is very friendly. The process of checking in can be a bit tedious but the staff is thorough and fairly quick. More parking would be nice but that has nothing to do with the services provided.

My wife was experiencing a rapid heartbeat, uncontrollable trembling and nausea. I took her to Springhill Baptist and the nice receptionist checked us in. She called for an EKG multiple times and no one came. While we waited the receptionist wiped down a wheelchair for my wife and said it would dry in a minute. At the same time a lady came from the back to execute the EKG and requested my wife to sit in the cold wet chair.

The receptionist told the lady it was still wet but the lady said she (my wife) will be alright. When the lady finished the EKG she berated the receptionist stating that was not her job. I made my displeasure known to the receptionist to tell management. After we were in a room the rude lady got us situated and I addressed her about her attitude and comments.

Her response was she was just playing with the receptionist. I explained to her how her attitude and responses made us feel but she offered no apology. She just didn't care. I wish my wife didn't have to experience this type of behavior while trying to reciev medical treatment.

This facility is selectively paying employees hazard pay but neglecting other employees who are risking their health to treat patients. I'm glad they're paying nurses, PCT's and environmental services hazard pay, but they refuse to pay imaging departments, even tho they're face to face with COVID patients EVERY day. Ultrasound departments? They're RIGHT next to these patients for extended periods of time TOUCHING patients, but nah they don't deserve hazard pay. Let's not even mention the fact that imaging departments make this dumpster of a facility a metric SHIT TON of money. Is that appreciated?

Apparently not. The lives of the people that make them so much money apparently aren't really worth much. How about lab employees? Nah, doesn't make sense. They only handle all the COVID samples from patients and employees. No big deal. Hazard pay? Why? Thumbs up Baptist. Thanks for treating those "Health Care Heroes" like champs.

If I could give no stars I would. The absolute slowest place to have anything done. If you have to have anything done here you might as well clear the rest of your day because it's going to take all day just to get in-and-out.

I was was admitted to NR 3A MED/SURG after an abdominal surgery 4/6/21. I was on that floor 4/6/21 thru 4/9/21 and this was a very disheartening experience. 1st off the whole time I was there I never showered, washed my face 9r brushed my teeth. No one every offered to assist me and I asked 4 different times If the shower/bathroom could be cleaned so I could shower.

Twice I was told "I'll see what I can do" and twice I was told "we don't have disinfectant all we have is air freshner" I had 2 different nurses tell me that I only have a small incision thru the belly button so I should be fine getting up with out assistance (I hurt like hell and I have 10 staples in my abdomen area) I would look on my chart daily and read the notes which were always surprising.

I dont understand were the information was coming from because noone ever did an assessment on me. An assessment should be done every shift and they didn't do one. One nurse pulled me up by my hand roughly, dislodged the IV after that I refused to get the IV put back in so I could go to the restroom easier since I knew for sure they didn't want to assist me.

I could go on but I ll stop here. I was a CNA FOR 7 YEARS, Have been a LPN for the past 17 years and in school now for my RN in all my nursing experience I've. Yet to see this level of neglect till now

I spent over 35 days at this hospital. They sent me to Premiere nursing home right down the street from them. I had not healed my wound (which was being dealt with a wound vac). I really felt the hospital was trying all they could to get me out before I was medically ready to be discharged. I say this because the social worker actually told me that I had to be found a place or I would be on hospice care.

The reason? I cannot sit in a recliner to receive dialysis. Baptist health was giving me dialysis while I was there. I am a 47-year old man that came into the ER to deal with a hemorrhoid. Basically October 8, 2019 being sent to Premiere I was forced into a little manual wheelchair for transport even though I'm am a 6'2 and 340lb man. He insisted on me getting into it.

They had no wound vac ready for me nor were they sure of orders for me. Premiere is in all respects a hellhole. All night there was screaming and a man going into ladies rooms. Baptist discharged me just to get me out of their hospital. So I guess in short the blame goes to the social workers that place patients in facilities between hospital and home. Premiere is affiliated in part with Baptist?

I smell a rat. I urge anybody and everybody to visit Premiere at 3600 Richards road in North Little Rock to see for yourselves where social workers from Baptist Health Springhill thinks is okay to transfer patients.such a shame because the care being given at Baptist on a 10 scale I would give a firm eight if I did not include social worker department. I'm trying get get out of Premiere now October 9 even if it means going home. Wish me luck.

As non medical professionals we look to nurses, doctors and medical administrators; who have the education and professional background to take action when we are scared, hurting and desperately in need. A trip to the emergency room is typically fraught with extended waiting periods and tends to induce a high level of anxiety. That combined with unprofessionalism, poor bed side manner, lack of compassion and overall incompetence equates to a very negative experience.

On May 11th, my grandmother made a trip to Baptist Health-Little Rock's ER, hoping to be treated for a condition that left her unable to walk and writhing in pain. Prior to this visit; she was seen by the attending physician at Baptist Health North's ER on the previous day. Although, my Grandmother arrived via ambulance, in excruciating pain and unable to walk; she was sent home due to the unavailability of a bed.

Now that is world CLASSLESS treatment. If that isn't bad enough she waited hours before finally being admitted at Baptist Health-Little Rock, because they wanted to speak with her MIA primary care physician first. So, I guess if she had dropped dead they would need to speak with a funeral home before making any decisions. To add insult to injury, the head ER nurse Devin lacked overall awareness of the situation and even stated that there was not a patient in their care by the name that I provided; although she had been admitted at that point. Moreover, Ms. Devin came across as nonchalant and bothered that I questioned their policies and procedures. So, perhaps she is in the wrong field and would be better suited in an environment where she is not interacting with people. If you are seeking treatment and expect to be treated with respect and dignity avoid Baptist Health at all cost. DISGRUNTLE Granddaughter

Came in for a doctors appointment and ended up being here all day just to have blood work. How is that? And if you already have all my information in your system why do I have to keep registering with you. You already have all my information. You really need to find a better system because this one is not working people have to go back to work after appointments and can not spend time waiting here all day just for this.

We are SO thankful for this hospital! I am a Caregiver for an elderly parent. She has seen multiple Specialists at Baptist Springhill. We have utilized the ER and although the wait may be long, the care was exceptional. Recently, our parent was brought by ambulance here. The ENTIRE Medical Team was GREAT. Special thanks to the ER Physician, Dr. Carter-Wyatt.

She exhibited professionalism as well as a kind and caring heart. In the flame of fear and pain, she calmed our parent and initiated tests, to reveal the answers needed for proper treatment. Kudos and many thanks!

What has happened to Baptist Health Springhill Medical Center. I was unfortunately admitted four years ago and I could not say enough good things about the overall facility and nursing care. However, last week after a two day emergency stay, I can only recommend the house doctors, ER nursing staff, my doctors, and the hospital food upgrade for patients.

There was a huge problem with the nursing staff on the Critical Care Unit who were very young and inexperienced. Frightening. Where did all the experienced nurses take off to? Some say the Baptist Health Medical Center in Conway, Arkansas has taken them. Who knows. I have so much sympathy for these hard working nurses but there has to be a more diverse nursing system with all supporting each other for the whole operation to work.

It was a tough visit for me and I could not be released fast enough. As I said, the order your own food tray system with a good selection of tasty items and entrees was about the only thing to get excited about with my hospital stay this time.

Dr. Kaddoura is the best I would recommend him to anyone. He is very attentive. I trust him with my life. And his nurse is great also.

Dr. Bruton saved my life in 2015. I had undergone an ileostomy surgery, and I wasn't able to eat or hold any medication down. Due to my surgery, I had temporary Anorexia. He informed the staff at UAMS to leave my IV in until I got transported back to Sparks. He gave me TPN bags every day, 12 hours daily for 4 months. I was almost a dead woman at 34, with 4 daughters and a husband at home during that time.

I don't think I'd be alive today, had he not visited my emergency room, that day. Also, due to my ostomy, I hadn't been able to eat ice cream for almost 3 years, because I'd have an awful leak, EVERY TIME! He informed me that I needed to find the fattiest ice cream, and it has done the trick! Also, I recently started seeing Dr. Kientz. He actually listened to me, and seemed genuinely concerned.

He gives thorough checkups, and it had been quite some time since I've had a checkup that I didn't walk out feeling worse than when I went in. I only wish that lab work was done by the doctors, and I didn't have to wait an extended amount of time for blood work. However, I'm not an easy stick, but the sweet young lady that does lab, she gets my blood, first poke, every time! That's amazing for me, because I have the worst veins imaginable.

My mother-in-law went by ambulance due to leg weakness that caused her to fall and cut her leg. Told the ambulance people who also told the ER people that she might have a UTI which is causing this. My sister-in-law went up there and she said she never saw a dr or a nurse, an aide came in and said they were sending her home, nothing broken just some skin tears.

She asked about a urinalysis and was told they did one and it was in her paperwork. There is nothing listed in there about a urinalysis or any type of blood work being done to see if we could find the cause of the fall and leg weakness. She was in the ER by ambulance about a month ago for an allergic reaction to an antibiotic for a UTI and for open wounds, once again, nothing was done to check anything, just gave her an oral steroid and sent her home weak, open wounds, swollen tongue.

She said the dr came in when she first got there and said there's nothing wrong with your tongue and left, saw the nurse once and then my sister-in-law took over and said no one came in again except the aide saying she was going home. It is so sad that they treat older patients on medicare this way, when she had Federal Blue cross as a secondary we never had a problem, now it's just boot them out.

We are probably going to have to call an ambulance again today to take her again to the ER, she is unable to stand now. Will defintely go to a different one. If you have a loved one that is older and on Medicare this ER is probably not the one for you.

Yesterday evening (7/4/2018) I arrived at Springhill Baptist around 11:30 p.m. I was then, and still am suffering from confusion, dizziness, and weakness. I have a history of leukemia and anxiety. I informed the nurse I haven't been able to eat, drink, or sleep for days. I stayed at the Emergency Room for 4 hours without seeing a doctor. I was/am very scared of my symptoms, I don't know what to do to get help.

I am very disappointed the doctor there didn't care to see me for even a few minutes. After my arrival, a nurses family member came in and they were sent back ASAP, this is highly unethical. I just need help and I thought the Emergency Room was the place to receive help, but I was wrong. Also, as I was leaving I noticed many nurses on their phones and eating cupcakes. It was very frustrating to see employees relaxing and laughing when they could have been caring for patients. I will NEVER return to this hospital.

Over a 1.5 hour wait. My time is money and I don't have time to be wasting to see a cardiologist that they have triple booked. I know it is all about the money but Lord Jesus this ridiculous.

I just left Baptist NLR a few days ago, having spent 4 days for a leg infection (cellulitis). My first experience there in any overnight capacity, and overall it was very positive. Top ratings for nurse responsiveness (my IV antibiotics had to be replenished often), and food service (their "room service, " call to order from a menu was not only VERY flexible, but tasty).

Everyone from doctors down to housekeeping were extremely polite. Evenings from 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM were VERY quiet for uninterrupted sleep. Lower grades for housekeeping (nurses tend to dump IV plastics and wrappings on the floor, and junk sat there for two days), and the need for some form of "welcome ritual" when you first arrive at your room (I was "miserable" until I realized I could unplug my IV machine myself, from the wall, and roll it with me into the restroom in the middle of the night).

One key oversight: no one reviewed my medications list with me upon arrival -- glad I brought all of my own! Considering this stay was during Thanksgiving holiday week, no doubt with a reduced staff, I couldn't be happier.

The night nurse who worked bed 5 & 6 in CCU on 12-16-15, his name is Michael, his bedside manners suck. He's is not compassionate with the families he deals with and for the most part very rude and quick to blame. But I won't let one sour apple spoil it for the rest.if that were the case. I have been here for 2 weeks with my mil, for the most part everyone is fantastic!

But it seems if I can find the rotten apple's in the bunch, I'm going to! We had a lab tech that I ran plum out of the room bc he was so hard core with her. Not to mention a rent-a-cop with an attitude. We arrived at the hospital on 11-28-15, today is 12-17-15, were still here with no site of going home anytime soon. I sure hope these sour apple's change their attitudes.
