The Aurora Eye Clinic is dedicated to quality eye care for the community. We have been in practice for more than forty years, continuing to supply quality eye care for Aurora Illinois and surrounding communities. Our mission is to provide patients quality, state-of-the-art eye care. We feel that establishing an expert relationship with each of our patients is most important.
Services
From the west, the Highland-Aurora Eye Clinic is located on the west side of Aurora, directly across the street from Mercy Center for Health Care Services, Provena-Mercy. If you are coming from the east, take the East-West Toll way (I-88) to the Aurora exit at Route 31. Turn South on Lake Street (Route 31) to the first intersection, Sullivan Road, and then turn right.
We know that our office is only as effective and as welcoming as the people who work in it, which is why we take pride in our friendly and well-trained team members! As a team, we are especially interested in making all our patients feel right at home! We put your needs first to achieve efficient and comprehensive treatment in a supportive and nurturing environment.
At our office, we ensure that patients receive the most advanced eye care. Our office regularly attends seminars and conferences devoted to new treatments, new technologies and excellent patient care practices. With patient care as our top priority, this is our commitment to you. Appointments are an important part of your treatment, as time has been reserved specifically for you to talk with the doctor and receive treatment. Please arrive on time for your appointment. If you are more than 15 minutes late, you might be asked to reschedule your appointment.
When you visit our office, please bring your photo ID and current insurance card (if you have insurance) with you. A photo ID is required for all patients. We ask that your insurance card be readable. It should have the claim's mailing address on it, and we will need your identification number for the policy.
Prior to your first visit with us, please be sure to bring your current eyeglasses or contact lenses, a list of the medications you are taking, as well as all of your insurance information. Depending on your specific needs, your initial visit will last approximately one to two hours. During this first visit, we will record your medical history and information, and perform all of the tests we need to get a complete picture of your ocular health. After our tests, we will discuss the results with you, as well as how treatments should proceed.

They are scamming people they will tell you owe and when you pay them off they will still say you owe. They say they have no record of my payment plan but my bank statement shows they have taken the money and a lady Joanna is who I did the payment plan with. Wouldn't recommend this clinic. The staff are also extremely rude.

Dr. Foody performed cataract removal procedures in my eyes in August and November. I have to give him and the office staff a well done.

This place has terrible customer service. No one told me I needed an appointment to pickup glasses even though I've spoken to them twice. Came on 2 seperate occasions only to be told optical isnt open despite published hours saying they are. Found out that hours change week to week (which no one also mentioned).

One star is too much for this place. If you are looking for unprofessional admin and a rude, callous, uncaring egotistical mainsplainer - this clinic and Dr. Zach (sp?) are for you. Everyone else, do yourself a favor and steer well clear. Especially if you have any kind of anxiety. We had an appointment for what turned out to be 24 hours from the time we arrived.

Totally our fault, were it not for the fact that I had (correctly) second-guessed myself and called them in the morning to confirm. I was assured that the appointment was for today. When we arrived, we were told it wasn't. They squeezed us in, but we more than paid for it with our subsequent experience. A doctor presumably chooses their profession because they want to reduce the suffering of others. Kindness is a prerequisite, but today we would have gladly taken neutrality.

My wife has hypersensitivity and anxiety. This makes getting eye exams difficult as her body involuntarily reacts to pull away and close her eyes. It's why she's never worn contacts and cannot administer eye drops to herself (she can't even touch her own eyes). She doesn't do this on purpose. It's not a character flaw or a sign of petulance. It's just how she is and that requires a lot of patience.

She acknowledges this problem willingly and really tries to make things easier for the doctor. When the nurse tried to conduct an eye pressure test, she didn't manage to succeed, but suggested the doctor try instead. One would have hoped the doctor was more experienced with difficult patients, but that turned out not to be the case. Instead we got gaslit ("You can do this" and "It's not an instinctive response, it's you fighting me", said in a patronizing tone when all available evidence pointed to the contrary), belittled and condescended to ("I've had hundreds of patients and nobody else has done this", in response to an anxious patient having issues with having their eyes closely examined) and very quickly dismissed ("You should look for another doctor", at the first sight of a challenge). No, Dr. Z., this was not the first time you've came in contact with an anxious patient.

You're not that lucky. And no, her response had nothing to do with you personally - your nurse should be able to attest to that. And yes, a different doctor might be a good option, but you could have suggested it in a way that didn't make you come off as abusive and insensitive. We aren't here to make your life easier - it's the other way around. And you'd do well to remember it. Fragile male egos are unacceptable most anywhere - they're especially unacceptable in a profession ostensibly intended to help the vulnerable.

I love this clinic. The staff is friendly and professional. The doctors are very patient and I felt at ease. They answer all of my questions thoroughly. For me the walt is well worth it. I would be more concerned there was never anyone there! I understand that they treat the most serious conditions first. I would highly recommend this clinic!

I felt very safe at AURORA Eye Clinic. Dr. Barnes gave me a feeling of concern. If you have to wait awhile for a doctor you can know your time with him will come. I was quite impressed with Dr. Barnes concern about a patient even when I expressed my concern about my sister he had never seen. Office could use some updated equipment but then old things are better than the new in my opinion.

Excellent all around. Waited less than a week for my initial appointment and less than ten minutes to be seen on the day. Staff at reception was friendly, efficient and courteous while Dr. Kirk was equally polite and is very skilled at his trade. Very happy to recommend.

The staff is very rude. the lady who did not let me talk when I called in to reschedule my husband's appointment. They sent him away twice stating he did not have the right paperwork every time I called them throughout the day they gave me attitude. Miss Nellie claims she is the owner of the business and that she does not have a boss to answer to and refused to give me her boss's name. I do not recommend you go to this office very unprofessional and needs to go back to school on common courtesy.

Had an appointment at 10am. Didn't get seen by the doctor until 11am. Scheduling seems to not be their strong point. Doctor seemed knowledgeable at least and was friendly. I highly suggest they have someone take a look at their scheduling.

I agree with the person that said they feel like they're at a museum not doctors office. My father is a patient at this clinic. We have sat at this clinic for as long as five hours. (only to watch other patients come in after us then leave before us) I am very disappointed with the service that my father is not getting. We were told by the doctor that if the shots in the eye weren't producing any results for his one good eye; that the shots would be stopped after 6 more months. Well, it's been well over six months ( THE SHOTS ARE NOT WORKING ) and he is still being bilked for big bucks by this doctor for personal benefit.

He is being seen by two eye doctors at this clinic. The doctor (Dr. Barnes) that is not getting all the profit from administering the shots seems to be forthright, honest, and really good bedside manner. We will be taking steps to drop that second doctor that gives the shots.
