Many people tend to confuse the functions of obstetrics and gynecology. They think these fields are kind of the same. They are clearly in the wrong, even though these fields are strongly related, they are by far very different. If you've always wondered the biggest differences between obstetrics and gynecology, here are 3 Minor & James found helpful for you to know.
Feeling depressed because your sex life is not the same as it used to be is understandable. As a man, your self-worth and role in relationships are often defined by your virility. Not being able to maintain an erection is often seen as a failure of your manhood, and perhaps a comment on your partner's desirability.

What Drs did what was a miracle. They saved half my kidney that I was told could not be saved. Amazing doctors! The hospital and nurses were excellent.

After I saw Dr. Steven Han, they were supposed to process a lab sample, but they left it in the fridge to expire! Multiple phone calls kept getting more frustrating, because they kept asking the same questions over and over without getting the work done.

Please go to see Dr. Joel Lilly if you want to see a doctor without any bedside manner. He is a very unprofessional urologist working at Minor and James at Swedish in Seattle where they have very inappropriate policy regarding billings in order to generate more cash flow for their business. Very unethical!

I have had the pleasure of dealing with Minor and James' Medical staff for years. I saw Dr. Enzmann in the Endocrynology side when I was first diagnosed with Hashimoto's Disease. He was always very easy to communicate with and had me on the right track from the get go. My most recent experience with Minor and James came through a trip to the ER.

A myriad of doctors came and went not really knowing what was the exact problem. I first met up with Dr. Patani who admitted for excruciating pain. The gastro team didn't know what was going on and Dr. Patani quickly admitted me suspecting degenerated uterine fibroids. I've seen other reviews that she has a "less than desirable bedside manner." Dr. Patani may not be a touchy feely sort of doctor, but she knows her expertise well which is what matters most to me. Also, I had the pleasure of working with Dr. Houlton during this experience.

After being in the hospital for three days with no locked down-diagnosis, she was the one to pull the trigger and gave a diagnosis. We had about a half hour conversation which prompted me to right then and there switch her to my primary OB/GYN. Under Dr. Houlton 's and Dr. Patani's care I was able to go home after five days having fought off the infection. Unfortunately, due to the "issues" at hand I had to get a total abdominal hysterectomy.

There were some unforeseen difficulties during surgery that Dr. Houlton handled quite well. I am extremely thankful for her experience and understanding. I am on the mend and feel blessed to have had two very competent doctors treat me. Thank you, Dr. Patani and Dr. Houlton.

This is a great place! I saw both Drs. Hanrahan and Block, and they were both very professional and personable. They were able to answer all of my questions (which there were many!) and were patient with me along with way.

Erin Hurley Waters has been by far my favorite Gynecologist! I was saddened to hear she was working only out of Nordstrom Tower only because it's so far from my home. Very positive, personable and professional. I appreciate her willingness to sit and explain every result down to the last detail! I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a great OB/GYN. She's worth the drive, off to Seattle I shall go! Her staff is very professional, and results are given in a timely manner.

I have been coming here since my pre-pregnancy appointment in August of 2010. I got my positive test in February 2011. Dr Erin Hurley Waters has been my OB the entire time and I absolutely LOVE her. She is very helpful, sweet, caring.she really cares about her patients and what is going on. I have complete trust that she has my best interest at heart.

My boyfriend loves my doctor as well. She makes these more personal like you are her friend not just her patient. She was on her honeymoon when I needed to be induced and I ended up needing an emergency csection which was preformed my Dr Kelly Hanrahan and I have nothing but nice positive things to say about her as well. I will actually be seeing her while Dr Waters is on her own maternity leave.

She will be back for my delivery this time which makes me happy. : I recommend this clinic to any woman for their "womanly needs" Oh ya, I also wanted to say I love all the nurses there as well, Chris. Beth.and the rest of the staff up front as well. Best clinic ever!

This is the place to be! For your feminine needs. Ladies feel free to message me for any detailed questions. Anita Tourigny, ARNP, was more than able to take care of everything I needed on my first visit, and though I can't say it was "comfortable" (I mean, let's think about the aesthetics here), it was surprisingly bearable. I worked with Nicole who helped schedule me in the day of due to another doctor's mishap, and then met with Eileen (Ilene?) at the front desk; both gals were astoundingly sweet and genuine.

I know several women who see Dr. Hanrahan at Seattle Women's Clinic here and their feedback has always been extremely positive. So when my new insurance company didn't cover my existing OB-GYN, I made an appointment to have my next annual exam with Dr. Hanrahan. Minor & James had a bunch of old information of mine in their system when my PCP was with them, but this was over 10 years ago. I've since changed my last name, address, phone, etc.

When I was talking to the receptionist that was booking my appointment, she wouldn't take my new information over the phone. She said I needed to fill out all that information when I came in for my appointment. The day of my appointment (which I had booked almost 3 months in advance) I just new something wasn't right because it dawned on me that I never received a reminder call.

Sure enough, when I showed up they couldn't even pull my information up. Then they looked at me funny when I told them who I was supposed to be seeing. They said "that's funny, because she's on vacation". Really? Funny? After some time searching, they finally found me and said they had been trying to contact me for weeks to reschedule because she was leaving on vacation, but my phone was disconnected and their letters were coming back.

The reason, of course, was because they wouldn't take my new information over the phone. I really needed to get in to have my exam because I needed a new presription and couldn't wait another couple months. All the while they made it sound like it was my fault that this whole thing got messed up and I was putting them out (a line was forming because they were having such difficulty finding me in the system, causing further stress on their behalf).

After some time, they were able to get me in to see Anita, the nurse practitioner. The exam went well, no complaints there. But she berated me about making sure I book my appointments in advance next time and that I was lucky I was able to get in the same day. As if I had just wandered off the street. I'm not usually one to complain about such things, and am generally sympathetic when things like this happened.

But the entire time I was there, they made it feel like all the mistakes were my fault. After having a great relationship with my previous OB-GYN for the past 15 years, and then being forced to find someone else, I really needed this experience to be a good one, and it wasn't. I understand that this was probably a one-off day and from all my friends' reviews, it really does seem like a great clinic, but I feel like they could have handled things better, and could have been a bit more sympatheic to me, rather than make me feel the way I did. And, they really should have been able to take my new information over the phone. I don't know why the woman refused to do that. It would have probably changed my who experience there. As a result, I will not be going back.

The OBGYN clinic here hosts a few of Seattle's top gynecologists (Dr. Block, according to Seattle Magazine: http://www.seattlemagazine.com/article/best-seattle/top-doctors/top-docs-11-obstetrics-gynecology, and Dr. Cole, according to Seattle Met Magazine: http://www.seattlemet.com/health-and-fitness/articles/2011-top-doctors-august-2011/11/#obgyn), and one of Yelp's favorites as well (Dr. Hanrahan: http://www.yelp.com/biz/kelley-hanrahan-md-seattle).

And clearly their nurse practitioner Anita is on top of things, too. (See http://www.minorandjames.com/services/obstetrics-gynecology-ob-gyn-womens-health-wa.php for a complete list of their providers.) I figured I couldn't go wrong with any of them, so I called and let the receptionist pick. They got me in within a week to see their newest doctor, Dr. Patani (http://www.minorandjames.com/directory/people/show/teresa-m-patani-m.d).

She is young and super nice. The annual exam was no big deal. I didn't have to get a pap smear, though, which helps. I hate pap smears. But in any case, the exam was quick and painless. Woo hoo! They were also fairly quick overall: My appointment was at 10:40, they got me back there by 10:50 or so, and I walked out of there at 11:25. Not too bad.

Everyone was really nice, as well. They are located on the 15th floor of the Nordstrom tower. There is parking in the building, and I posted a photo of the rates over here: http://www.yelp.com/biz/nordstrom-elmer-j-medical-tower-seattle. They also have a sweet view, as others have noted.

I'm right on board with Erin's review. I love my OBGYN but so does everyone else. so that means there's a 2-3 month wait to see her. And as someone that's not trying to have children or suffers from fertility issues, I just need a regular ol' annual check up. So instead of seeing my regular doctor, I've been offered to see a nurse practitioner twice.

Both times I saw Anita Tourigny and she's AMAZING! This most recent check-up I called and was told I'd have to wait until the end of September to see Dr. Hanrahan. Now I'm not in a hurry but that is a long wait. So when they said, "or you can see the nurse practitioner" and I said, "Ok. when?" I was shocked when they said, "Tomorrow." HECK YES.

So I picked a 10am appointment, saw Anita and was done in less than 15 minutes. Better yet, she's awesome. She had remembered me from my last visit more than a year ago and we had a lovely conversation. Typically I'd want to complain about these awkward and uncomfortable experiences but Anita is so kind that it's totally painless. We talk work, life, vacation, food. and then I'm done!

She could have drawn blood, given me vaccinations.who knows, I was enjoying our chats so much might have taken a kidney for all I know! Such a pleasant and easy experience. The office is clean, the waiting rooms are clean and the building is located near lots of cheap (and sometimes free) parking. I have no reason to go anywhere else unless I move out of Seattle.

Really great place for a gyno appointment. I went for the first time today for my annual check-up. Because it was on the 15th floor, the lobby had an amazing view of the city. The receptionists were very friendly. My appointment started right on time, Kristin took me back to check my vitals and weight, she was funny, nice and helped me to relax. I saw Anita Tourigny, an ARNP who was fabulous!

I honestly prefer to see an ARNP because I feel like they always listen better, and right I was! Anita was great. She absolutely listened to me, gave me really good feedback and even quoted research, let me tell you, this lady knows her stuff! She was extremely easy to talk to and made me feel comfortable and relaxed (as much as you can in a gyno appt), and most of all she gave me her undivided attention. I will absolutely be booking my next appointment with her.

I actually didn't really do usual "woman" health checkup often but once you become adult, I think it's a good practice. Making an appointment was quite easy and quick. I had a bit hard time finding the building at first though but I'm glad they got parking garage. Both nurse and my doctor were very nice and attentive. I did some quick tests and got my questions answered. Quick and painless it was. I went home worry-free and happy. Thank you!
