Moles are brown or black growths, usually round or oval, that can appear anywhere on the skin. They can be rough or smooth, flat or raised, single or in multiples. Skin cancer is the most common form of human cancers, affecting more than one million Americans every year. One in five Americans will develop skin cancer at some. Wrinkles are a natural part of the aging process.

They occur most frequently in areas exposed to the sun, such as the face, neck, back of the hands and forearms. The dermatology professionals at Dermatology Associates are pleased to welcome you to our practice.

This place is great! Every time I call the girls are always friendly and very helpful, ive had plenty of emergency's in the past and they have always accommodated me. Yes they are booked out 3-4 months out right now but thats because they are just so highly requested. But at the same time who isn't booked out right now just to get in to see my PCP I have to wait till October!

The world is changing so fast and we just have to adapt to this new healthcare norm which is booked out for months now! I prefer this clinic because of there vast knowledge in skin concerns.

My husband and I have been here to see Dr. Hester for about two years. We've always been treated kindly and professionally. Dr. does a wonderful job explaining what each situation is and what possibilities there are treating problem areas. Any time we've had other staff contact, it's always been a positive experience. I'm glad our primary care provider referred to this fine organization.

This is the most unprofessional place I have ever encountered! Tonya the office manager is rude and disgusting! I've been coming here for a year, unable to wear a mask due to a disability. It was in my chart notes, then I show up for my appointment and suddenly they tell me there are no notes and turned me away! Such liars and complete disregard for someone who has been giving business for a year! This place is completely horrible! I wish I could say more, I'm absolutely disgusted! Do not go here! I beg you!

I've been here 4 times, and I should have learned better after the first time. Shame on me. After my first encounter with blind billing through this office, I made sure to ask the billing dept how much this small procedure could cost out of pocket. I wanted to be prepared for the max amount I would pay. Of course they assured me of the total cost (in the event that my insurance didn't cover anything) but the final bill was over $500 more than what they promised me it would be.

They used outside medical facilities for who knows what and billed me for that. The billing dept is impossible to get ahold of to work out payments. So unless you're totally ok with getting billed any possible amount, avoid this place at all costs. The doctors I'm sure are fine, but they all seem more concerned with having you come in so they can bill you rather than actually helping you.

Unfortunately scheduling with this clinic is extremely difficult. Office staff provide poor customer service. Communication is not good.

As a former patient of Dr. Vanderbeek (and before that, Dr. Ross), I called when I noticed a lesion developing at the base of my neck over my clavicle area. I described the size and characteristics of the lesion and that I was concerned it was pathological and wanted an appointment. I was told (in the first week of April) that I couldn't get an appointment until AUGUST!

Even though I am a patient of record, I am considered a "new patient" because it has been several years since my last visit (ummm. hello. COVID?!) Also, they do not have a cancellation list for urgent appointments. I found an appointment at another reputable clinic, was seen immediately and biopsy confirmed dx of squamous ca. I'm glad Dermatology Associates are busy, but I'm shocked they don't have any urgent appointment flexibility for patients of record.

Be prepared for BLIND BILLING, they will do procedures without disclosing that it will cost at minimum $200 additional out of pocket that insurance will not cover, even if they are in network and t's in office procedure. They will then threaten collections when you request an adjustment based on their unethical charging practices. The dr should clearly state "If we freeze this off, you will be charged personally" period! trust is so important -

Dr. Scott Collins is the BEST surgeon. Scaring is minute as is his caring and explanation of what needed to be done. I highly recommend him as well as all his staff members.

Dr. Woody and her office staff are great. I was seen on time (unusual for a Derm office), and everyone was very helpful and professional. Dr. Woody was knowledgeable, thorough, and put me right at ease during a quick in-office procedure that I hadn't anticipated. I would highly recommend her and the practice.

Each of the doctors I've seen at this place touched my inflamed eyelids without wearing gloves. I find this unprofessional and unsanitary. I also can't understand why Dr. Gattey chose a medical profession. He was extremely heartless and lacked compassion for my suffering of severe dry eye and ocular rosacea. He rudely said he couldn't do anything else for me, that I am "imagining" the pain, got up and left the room. I have never encountered such a heartless, rude, medical "professional" in my life.

I have been here a few times to get basal cells checked out or removed. The doctors are alright but I think the front desk staff would rather spit on you than help you.

Idk, Dr. Hester seemed like a nice guy, when he questioned a mole on my chest, I wondered if I should check with insurance first, but he thought it was something that should be biopsied quickly, so I did and supposedely it turned out to be nothing, I can't understand all the medical terminology on the report, no one cared to go over that with me, now even with insurance I owe almost $200 and a waste of time and pain for nothing i guess.

I felt a bit pressured to get this done right away, perhaps I should have just monitored it more. I always wonder when people are too nice, not saying he's not, just question things, which is not allowed these days I suppose.

I was scheduled with Dr Barry, and she was just amazing. I was worried the appt was going to be rushed and I wasn't going to be listened to about all my concerns. But she sat with me, listened to all my concerns and took plenty of time explaining HER concerns, recommendations and alternatives. Just had such a nice experience, so thank you.

Dr Hester is fantastic. My teenage son has had issues with acne and a mole needing removal and Dr Hester has helped him tremendously. His bedside manner and kindness is really top notch. He also is an expert in his field. The office staff is very kind and helpful. Dr Hester's assistants are so wonderful too. If you need dermatology care, this is the place and Dr to go see!

Dr. Lin was FANTASTIC with my very nervous neuro divergent son. My kid (17) struggles in new situations and pretty much is unable to process what's being said and done. Dr. Lin clearly explained things without being condescending and wrote little crib notes on his card to help remind us of key points. Super happy mama here! This guy is AWESOME!

I don't like to be negative. On the other hand, Yelp reviews help guide both potential customers and service providers. In any event, in late July 2019, within 2 weeks of making a month long out-of-the-country backpacking trip to central Europe, I noticed a new and rapidly changing growth on my chest. I had a hunch it was cancer. So I met with the PA Scott Maury, who was friendly and also seemed to know his stuff.

Yet after he ticked off three things that this growth could be, none of which were cancer, I nonetheless (just to be sure) asked for a biopsy, which he then immediately provided. And sure enough, what I had was basal cell carcinoma. I explained this awkward situation to a nurse there, but Mr. Maury was the only associate available then. So I returned to have him remove that growth. "I hear there was a misunderstanding, " he said. (I bit my tongue) After he completed the procedure, he assured me basal cell carcinoma is very slow growing and thus nothing to worry about. Unfortunately, the little post op chest cavity (though it did not hurt) showed no signs of healing. Rather, it remained surrounded by tiny specks of blood, not bleeding but worrisome nonetheless.

I rate this a 2 star rather than a 1 as I respect the source of the teaching "Judge not lest ye be judged." I am also grateful for that source as 2 days before my trip, I happened to meet a woman in a Beaverton park who was creatively working with little kids there and told me she'd given her life to Jesus when she was 12 years old. She sensed I had a health concern. So I told her, and the next morn, when I awoke, my little chest wound had completely scabbed over, and there is no scar there today.

I highly recommend Dr. Hester, I've been going to see him for years and he's really helped me with my skin issues. He's really friendly and easy to talk to. The staff is very knowledgeable and I've never had an issue with the practice.

I recommend anyone looking for a dermatologist to come here and see Dr. Hester and his team. They are personable, professional and do an excellent job providing quality patient centered care every single visit. I've been going to him for almost 5 years and highly recommend! I moved further away, and still choose to go back & even got my husband going to him too. Thank you all you! & the personalized artwork is my favorite :

Loved Dr. Vanderbeek. She is a rare combination of compassion and knowledge. She doesn't try to upsell you and she doesn't treat you like you're an idiot. Best dermatologist I've found in Portland.

Do NOT go to this place. They have no respect for your time or your money. I would almost consider it a scam.

If you're looking for a dermatologist you can trust, I highly recommend Dermatology Associates. I've been a patient for years. The staff is knowledgeable, thorough and friendly. After we found precancerous melanoma a few years ago, they helped me to take my health more seriously. We do regular check-ups to make sure everything is still good. I typically work with Holly and have worked with a few other doctors on staff. I'm grateful for their expertise.

I was in to see them once before and the doctor saw me for two minutes told me everything was fine. I was relieved but felt the visit was very curt. I was in to see my PCP at the beginning of the July and they sent a referral over for another thing. So I waited and never got a call for scheduling. I called them to see what was going on the lady on the phone was so rude and short with me.

They did not have availability to see me which I understand but had they called in a timely manner I wouldn't have had any problems with them. Don't waste your time or give them the privilege of billing you insurance there are better more professionals doctors out there.

Abysmal is where I can start but it ends there as well. I am not even sure what the hours are, 7:30 or 8:30, either way they are never taking their calls at either times (answering machine). The reason for 2 stars is that it is a 'nice' location. However the lobby is deathly quiet to the point where you can hear the hum of the lights. (It's ominous). Scott the PA, is amicable however. he may be better suited for animal disposal.

The assistants are adequate however held to their positions are left inept. Unless you are going to only get botox, I might recommend going elsewhere. Disappointed Frustrated

I've been coming to dermatology associates for years now. I've been with miss Holly Rasmussen and she's been helping me with my journey to clean & beautiful skin (I struggle with stubborn acne). I truly feel like I'm in the best hands, if I have any questions Holly goes above and beyond to answer them and explain all my options. The office staff is amazing also, very friendly!

As it is with so many doctors offices the reception at this place is so unfriendly it ruins the experience. There's a woman with shoulder length dark hair and glasses. She is the bare minimum of polite. I found the doctor to be fine. But nothing to recommend.

I never had a problem with acne until last summer. I did everything natural to combat it but that wasn't helping. After months of research, I came in knowing what I needed for my acne but was suggested a topical ointment just to take care of the scars and nothing for acne, which is why I came in. A few problems I have is getting my prescription to the pharmacy.

I called multiple times and the prescription was never sent it. So I just didn't take it. Dr. Suggested the pharmacy call instead of me. My main problem with them is the front desk staff. Every time I come in, they give me smug looks and are very rude. ESPECIALLY when I call in! I'm given SO MUCH attitude. Having worked for a large medical center, I know what information is needed for the front desk staff to get my message over to the medical assistants and nurses.

I swear they don't even pay attention to what I'm saying. In the middle of my message to the MA/nurse (which is never long) I get cut off and an told they'd give me a call and ask for my number again. I love Dr. V, but I honestly don't want to go back here.

This facility came highly recommended by a friend who has been a patient here for many years. The reception staff was friendly and professional. I was able to fill out my paperwork and due to a cancellation I was able to get in to be seen before my appointment time. I am very fair skinned and skin cancer runs in my family so I was a little anxious about my appointment.

The assistant picked up on my nervousness and helped put me at ease. I saw Holly Rasmussen and she gave me a thorough exam, calmed my nerves and ultimately removed 2 moles (both were benign.) Initially one of the results came back inconclusive and required additional study/ testing. I was glad that they went to such lengths to ensure my health and calm my fears.
