Services
LASIK surgery is an extremely safe and effective procedure to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. As one of the most highly trained and experienced LASIK surgeons in America, Dr. Thomas Byrd performs all-laser LASIK, which offers a range of benefits over LASIK with a blade. Additionally, we use some of the most advanced pieces of technology available to help us achieve optimal results. A precursor of LASIK, photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) surgery can correct mild cases of nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism.
Cataracts form when proteins begin to clump together in the crystalline lens of the eye, resulting in cloudy and impaired vision, light sensitivity, and more. Cataracts naturally occur with advancing age, but other risk factors include diabetes, smoking, obesity, and certain medications. If this condition has started to affect your daily life, Dr. Thomas Byrd can effectively cure cataracts with surgery. It is important to undergo regular ophthalmological checkups so Dr. Byrd can diagnose cataracts at their earliest stages.
Glaucoma is a disease that causes damage to the optic nerve, and it often occurs as the result of excessive pressure within the eye. After using some of the latest pieces of technology to accurately diagnose this condition, Dr. Thomas Byrd can very often treat glaucoma with laser and/or eye drop therapy.
Dr. Thomas Byrd utilizes the VISX Star S4 IR Excimer Laser System to correct refractive errors during LASIK surgery. This device can track your eyes during surgery for precise, effective vision correction. In addition, the VISX STAR S4 excimer laser can use the information gathered by wavefront diagnostic technology to customize your surgery and reduce the risk of complications.

My wife was referred to the Byrd Eye Clinic (BEC) by her dermatologist. She had shingles near an eye and the skin doc recommended having an eye doc check it out. My wife explained her situation and the BEC ran a number of tests. They had her return in a week or so for a follow up. They gave no indication of what the cost might be other than charging a $25 fee at one of the visits.

To our astonishment, they have since billed nearly $700! I called BEC to complain and they knocked about $200 off. However, $500 is still exorbitant for a few tests. DO NOT GO HERE WITHOUT KNOWING IN ADVANCE EXACTLY WHAT IT WILL COST!
