Services
Cary Dermatology Center offers a full array of skin care treatment to help you achieve your skin care goals. Acne is a common problem for teens and young adults. While the exact cause is unknown, hormones, plugs in the follicles, bacteria and inflammation are all involved. There are many different treatments and skin care plans are best if individualized to a patient's unique skin type. Since studies show that it takes at least 6-8 weeks to see initial improvement, many patients get discouraged and stop treatment too soon.
Comfort and convenience are the hallmarks of Cary Dermatology Center's office operations. To ensure your convenience, below is the information you need about our hours, location, appointment scheduling, insurance acceptance and billing. We have three waiting rooms and providers rotate among the areas, so check the names on the door to see where your provider is each day.
Your first visit to Cary Dermatology Center involves a few special steps so that we can get to know you. You'll find all the practical information you need, such as a map and directions to our office, practice hours, payment policies and more. There's also background information about our committed staff and our first visit procedures.
Cary Dermatology offers a wide variety of medical grade skin care products to fit every need. Medical grade skin care products contain higher concentrations of active ingredients than are available over the counter. The average woman spends $2,000 on skin care products each year. If you routinely buy over the counter products, you should research them and use the best quality products.

I've been raving about Cary Dermatology. I've only been with them for one year. I've had a body scan, which I was very happy with, very professional. I've also had some of my sun spots zapped, which I was also happy with. And again I've had 2 bouts of botox. The first one was good, but not the second. So, you usually have to wait 2 weeks for the botox to settle before you come in for a follow up.

But I knew something was wrong after 1 week, as my right eyebrow goes up like Dr. Spock. I called in the first week and they asked me to wait for the additional week to see my doctor. I had a choice of scheduling an appointment for the next week, but the one day they had open I was busy that whole day and couldn't take it. So they had to move me to the end of July.

I moved things around for a Thursday opening, but when I called back yesterday, I had to leave a message. Nobody called me back. I called again today, but they didn't have anything until July 11. I'm out of town from the 7-28. I asked them if they could squeeze me in anytime July 5-7 but it was a bust. I told the person on the phone I'd only need 10 minutes, but no go.

Not until July 11. I even asked to see the other doctor that performs botox, but no go. I was really disappointed that they couldn't fit me in. I won't be going back there. Looking for a new dermatologist, if anyone knows of a good one in Cary or around Cary.

What an amazing place to get pampered and look your best. Thank you Dr. MANGELSDORF for your kindness and expertise on what to expect with my procedure. Your encouragement and calmness helped get me through the procedure. I can't wait to see the results long term.

Cary Dermatology Center is a very professional, clinically excellent and patient friendly medical practice. The entire staff is very attentive to your patient input throughout your clinic visit. All of my questions were answered completely and clearly understandable from the patient perspective. Cary Dermatology Center staff is a select group of medical professionals that focus on your individual healthcare needs and they provide excellent medical care in a respectful manner.

I was very satisfied with my clinical visit and actually enjoyed interacting with the staff. I felt upon completion of my clinic visit that the staff seriously cared about me as a person.

LOVE Dr. Manglesdorf and the staff here! Been going here many years for my yearly check and called today to schedule and ask questions about other services and spoke to Jana in scheduling. She was AMAZING! Top notch customer experience, very informative, respectful, upbeat and positive. I wish all offices had a Jana like her!

My first visit with this dermatologist center was great. The check in process was easy and the visit was fast. I went in focused on one issue and Dr. Gary made sure he addressed my issue and asked if I had any other concerns. I would recommend this practice for your dermatology needs.

I absolutely love this place and Catherine is amazing! I have been to many doctors to try to figure out what s wrong with me. They take their time with me, listen and have helped me find answers that many doctors could not. I highly recommend them!

I had an appt with Faye, who was delightful. Friendly, respectful, knowledgeable. Despite the fact that they had a doc call out and were a bit behind, my wait wasn't too awful. The worst part of the wait was that it was done in a cold room wearing a paper gown. I wish Dr offices would give you a 2 min warning so you could wait with your clothes on.

I've been going to this practice for a very long time. The practitioners are very up-to-date on the latest and greatest. If you have an emergency you can be see very quickly. When you check in it's completely automated, so you don't have to deal with any human contact if you don't want. I highly recommend Cary Dermatology.

My experience with CD started when I phone them to get an appointment due to a place on my chest that started to cause me some irritation. They did not have an opening until my but when I told the person on the phone what I had going on she checked and found an opening the next day. I was very impressed and had a great experience with Gary. He was very informative and professionally removed this growth quickly.

It was amazing that I was only there for under 30 minutes but listened to and a genuine concern for my well being and did not feel rushed. Everyone there was very helpful and nice from walking into the door to leaving. Thanks so much!

This review is based on an initial visit. I met with Gary to discuss hair and skin issues. He was extremely professional and knowledgeable. He gave detailed advice and the visit did not feel rushed. This was a much better experience than the previous dermatologist I had visited. From one visit, highly recommended!

Always a friendly crew who often know patients by their first name. Excellent care that is efficient. Knowledgeable PAs and doctors. I recommend it as a local dermatologist.

I've been a patient at Cary Dermatology since 2016 and have been satisfied over the past 5 years. I visit for my annual mole checks and in 2019 had several visits for an unexplained skin rash. I've felt the same amount of attention and respect during my typical visits as with the visits pertaining to the rash. Making appointments is fairly easy and they follow up promptly on results from biopsies.

I called for an appointment and, due to a combination of skin issues and age asked to see a dermatologist. The person said no, they only will give me a PA. I wanted a dermatologist due to the complexity of my issues. She started talking over me in rapid fashion on how great the PAs are; they may be but I had a very bad experience years ago at another practice since that PA didn't recognize vitiligo and ignored the small spot on my face despite my pointing it out.

Two years later a dermatologist recognized it immediately.but by then it had expanded all over my back (where I couldn't see it) until it was too late to stop it. As I tried to explain that I really wanted a dermatologist the woman rep on the phone hung up on me. The good news is that I know now this is not the practice I want.

Booked an appointment with Cary Dermatology after doing some research online. Because of my new patient status, I had to wait 6 weeks for an appointment with a mid-level. At the appointment the mid-level prescribed a medication for off-label use and sent me home with a fist full of samples. I get a call 24 hours later to discontinue use (thankfully I did not fill the prescription and waste the money) and to come back in to see one of the dermatologists.

Not only am I disappointed that I was given a prescription erroneously but that they are suggesting I come back again. Bottom line, if a staff does not have the knowledge to write a prescription for a known condition they should either be monitored by a more experienced dermatologist or asking for a consult. As an aside, rubbing your eyes and telling a patient it is too early for your brain to work is not a good way to earn trust with a patient.

Never have I ever had a dermatologist recommend a cheap product from Walmart as a resolution for severe acne. And it didn't work, and they wanted me to keep coming back and paying co pays with no resolutions, except eat healthy and drink more water.which I already do! Don't waste your time.

They have zero care for your time. Saw the doctor an hour after appointment. If it wasn't for the good reputation of the doctors, this would be our last visit. Fix it!

As of today I am ending my nearly 25+ year relationship with this practice. It is not necessarily the doctors that have caused the issue; even though they tend to overbook themselves. I have waited sometime nearly 30 to 45 minutes after my appointment time. That is not unusual. But the billing staff is very unprofessional and very rude; to the point I was hung up on today for no reason at all.

I was very polite in asking my question however I was hung up on. I could not believe it. I will make certain to look elsewhere right away for another dermatology center in Cary, NC. I guess the company has grown so large that there is no time for customer relationships or good customer service; even though those of us that have been with the practice 25+ years or more were the ones that helped to fund the growth of the practice in previous years. I am just highly disappointed they would treat a good customer/patient in this manner.

SAVE YOUR DIME: NOT ACCEPTING NEW PATIENTS. Wouldn't it be great to be so rich that: (1) you can stop accepting new patients, and (2) you can employ rude office staff to tell people that they not accepting new patients?

I love the staff and my doctor here. In fact they've been able to help me solve some issues I've gone to three other doctors for. I feel that they actually listen to my concerns and don't brush them off and prescribe something quickly. Everyone is so friendly and easy to talk to. It must be wonderful to work here also! My issue though is two fold - one, I've never waited so long before in a waiting room to be seen.

I have to take work off to come here because of their hours and I'm always left waiting forever. Two, I hate that I'm unable to renew my prescription each year without being seen despite the fact that I haven't changed my dosage in four years. The appointment usually goes like this: "Hi, how are you, how are things going with your meds?" "Great, I'm very happy" "Alright, have a nice day! Pay your huge bill up front and see you next year!"

Do not get the patch test with Dr. Lampel if you have an HSA, as the insurance does not pay for this test and it costs $1400 if you have Cigna. Cary dermatology center will not tell you this beforehand as they do not know if you are on PPO or HSA. Plus I was very disappointed with the results, they said they did not find anything and did not refer me to any allergen or anyone for further research

Dr Lampel is awesome! She was really funny/ great at putting my super nervous 9 year old at ease - he had stubborn warts and she knew just what to say (and DO) to help him. It is not an easy process when they are hard to remove- and she was able to do it. all with a smile. Thank you Dr Lampel!

Cannot recommend, after a horrible experience with Dr Heather Lampel. She was 45 minutes late for our appointment and when I dared to calmly and professionally raise the subject - expecting a 'oh, sorry about that' response - I was instead treated as if I was difficult and unreasonable. She took a quite manageable customer service issue and by her response made it much worse.

I imagine she's unfamiliar with the idea that the customer is always right, or at the very least treated as if they were. So after some back and forth this was just too much for her and she abruptly cancelled the appointment! I was a regular customer there but suffice it to say that going forward I'll be taking my business to a dermatologist who values my business as well as my time.

My boyfriend just had a consult with Dr. Heather Lampel and she was amazing and super knowledgeable! She was so thorough and comprehensive. He's struggled with eczema and possible skin allergies for years and we are now hopeful he might have less of a struggle. Her staff was so kind, too. Can't thank her enough!

Made appointment for my 21 yr old daughter over to have a routine body scan (over winter break) that is covered by my insurance. After my daughter returned home, she told me Dr. M. said she was going to shave a piece off a mole for a closer look, and then proceeded to do so. My daughter paid the deductible then left. A month later she receives a bill for $150.

When we called to inquire why the additional fees, we were told the "biopsy" wasn't covered. I can understand that BUT, what i don't understand is, the patient was never "asked" if she wanted the procedure and the patient was never "informed" it was an additional procedure (additional coding) and additional cost. When we expressed these facts, the receptionist on the phone told us basically, too bad, thats the way it is.

I am tempted to write the NC Medical Board, but their website claims "fee disputes" are not within their realm of dispute. Although i don't see this so much a "fee-dispute" rather than an ethical dispute--whereas i feel they took advantage of a 21 yr old's naivete. So I guess we all learned an expensive lesson.before you allow Cary Dermatology to do anything other than 'look' at you, ask "Is this going to incur extra cost?

Will this change the medical record coding of the appointment?" then tell them to call your insurance company first, (or allow you to call) and find out how much out of pocket cost you will incur. At that point, you can make an "informed" decision.

I never even made it past the girl who answers the phones. She had me in tears by the end of the phone call. My insurance company directed me to their 'find a physician' online tool and I pulled Cary Dermatology off of their website. I have BCBS, but the woman on the phone was unusually cruel and condescending about if I had BCBS local or how I knew I was 'covered.' She explained she actually had no way to verify if I had coverage or not - and that AFTER my appointment it would just be 'too-bad, so-sad' if I had to pay out of pocket for any & all expenses even though I do have insurance.

I have recently had a mole change shape and color so have been extremely nervous, this woman was completely terrible and I'm back to square one searching for somebody who can assist me with my medical care.

Virtually all my experiences with Cary Derm have been very positive. I did switch doctors. I read about complaints of waiting a long time. Well i was there on Tuesday and from the time I checked in was mole screened and one removal was 30 minutes. I use Christine M. Benigar she is a P-A, but she is awesome. I hardly wait more than five minutes. She now has wacked off a few of my moles.

She has a great "bedside" manners, she will joke around with me. I personally would recommend her to anyone. I have a standing yearly appointment with her for almost five years now.

Just got back from my first appointment here. If you are looking for a GREAT dermatologist your search is over. My appointment was with Dr Heather Lampel. From the moment she spoke I knew she was passionate about what she does. She took the time to really listen to all my concerns and develop an action plan to tackle everything. Very smart and great personality. Didn't feel the least bit rushed eventhough I ask a lot of questions. Front desk crew was very nice. Everyone smiling and even gave my daughters frozen stickers as we were leaving. Was seen on time too!

Called on Wednesday and there had been a cancellation so I was able to go Thursday. First time here. After the usual paperwork I was seen in less than ten minutes. I was extremely pleased with the treatment as well as the advice I was given. I saw Maybell Madlock P.A.
