In 1995, Cascade Eye & Skin Centers developed as a union of two leading practices in western Washington - Tacoma Eye Clinic and Eye & Skin Associates. The original Tacoma Eye Clinic (TEC) had roots dating back to 1967. The TEC physicians got to know the doctors of Eye & Skin Associates, and realized that they shared a common philosophy of providing advanced, compassionate patient care.
As one of the most advanced and comprehensive eye care programs in the Northwest, Cascade offers a high standard of treatment for both children and adults. We provide health screenings, prescription opticals, cataract surgery and many other specialized treatments. Because everyone's eyes are unique, a comprehensive eye exam includes many tests to assess visual acuity and evaluate the health of the entire eye.
There are numerous surgical procedures available for correcting or adjusting your eye's focusing ability by reshaping the cornea, the clear round dome at the front of your eye. The most widely performed types of refractive surgeries are LASIK (laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis) and photorefractive keratectomy (PRK).
The term eyelid surgery encompasses a wide range of cosmetic and functional procedures performed around the eyes. Whether restoring a more youthful appearance to the face or repairing trauma to the eyes, our skilled oculoplastic surgeon offers a wide variety of surgeries to reconstruct the natural appearance of the eye area.

Dr. Hirota refused to give me a proper examination. After pressing the issue, his only response was "trust me." He was lazy and dismissive.

Just saw Dr. Keith Dahlhauser at the Gig Harbor office and I am still shaken. I came in very prepared (photos, documents, previous doctor's reports, etc.) to have an intelligent conversation with him about my symptoms and experience with two episodes of an extremely swollen eye. He did not listen to me, interrupted me repeatedly, and belittled my questions.

He was condescending and hurried and had no interest in any of my questions or additional explanations as to my experiences. I am an intelligent, well-educated, well-researched, articulate 65-year-old woman who would have preferred a dialog, not being treated like a "dumb old lady." He shut down my questions ("as I just explained to you." "I have 30 years experience, so believe me.") and shut down any request to explore other possibilities or any conversation at all.

I found the experience to be unpleasant at best, even jolting and mildly traumatic - and I'm no wuss. I ALMOST said to him, after he shut me down the second time, "I find you to be very condescending; can we have a conversation instead of this?" but at that point I just wanted to get out of there. I will not be back. *I had previously seen Dr. Travis Frazier at the University Place clinic of Cascade Eye and Face (he was unavailable for this appointment), and had an excellent experience with him, so this review is about Dr. Dahlhauser specifically, not about the office staff or any other doctor at Cascade Eye and Face.*

I can't believe Multicare would work with or refer me to this clinic as this was one of the worst health care visits of my life. Dr. Ogawa told me I had liver cancer by barely palpating my armpits! More like a quick swipe. Also she cut too large of a biopsy of my genitalia and froze a spot on my face before I knew she was coming at me with the ice gun.

Now I have a scare on my face. Also the girl who did surgery on my arm smelled of strong body odor and had no people skills while she was chatting with her nurse and cutting the flesh off my arm. The pain shots for that surgery hurt worse than any shots I have ever had and barely worked, as they admitted that there pain killer was a bad brand etc. ughh. stay away.

Schedulers don't schedule you accordingly, causing many office visits. So you are stuck paying your co pay. Even after the DOCTOR AND MA instruct the front office to refund your co-pay. You then wait 30 more mins for the supervisor to come out & tell you the doctor said that by mistake that that's not their policy & that you need to schedule another appointment when you have a nother question for the doctor you saw less than 90 seconds. Very poor service for a specialty office. Take your dermatology needs & referrals elsewhere. They are after your money and customer service & training here lack.

Saw Dr. Ogawa today and very disappointed. She obnoxiously chewed gum, yawned constantly, just assumed I had eczema because I said my skin was itchy but no rash it was obviously dry and needed something prescribed because regular lotion is not helping. I booked this appointment since February due to them being booked out and I'm extremely disappointed in wasting my time here. I'm not sure how you assume eczema with no proof?

Was at the office and witnessed the front desk representative being very rude to the patient they were talking to. I don't know if they were having a bad day or what, but sneering/talking under your breath/ using condescending tones won't help anyone feel welcome.

I had cataract surgery at Cascade Eye & Skin. Could not be happier with the experience and outcome. Great people and service from scheduling, to the front desk, to check-in, to nurses and Dr Dahlhauser. They were all kind, efficient and answered all my questions and concerns. I would highly recommend.

Dr. Dahlhauser was to the point and professional every step - pre-op, surgery & post-op visits. He was careful with diagnosis & measurements. I was impressed with the surgery center staff - xeveryone knew their assigned tasks & each person was considerate. Surgery prep procedures were thorough and efficient. Dr. Dahlhauser has corrected both of my cataracts 10 years apart.

I was amazed that true colors & clarity in my distance vision improved already the day after. I had zero pain & minimal discomfort from the initial blurred vision & night eye guard. I asked Dr. D how he chose his profession and he said he was intrigued during a Med school ophthalmology rotation. But even more telling was, "Eye surgery is really beautiful." How fine to have a doctor who is committed to improving people's lives with better vision AND who values the intrinsic beauty of what he gets to do. I feel blessed to have such a fine eye doctor.

Yesterday was my first appointment ever at Cascade Eye and Skin. I was treated well. The lady Eboni who checked me in was very kind. You sign in with like an IPad. Of course I made a mistake and Eboni was very kind and helped me with it. She also checked me out and made an appointment to come back next moth.

Can't answer the phone. Never called or texted to remind of appointment. Worst customer service I've ever encountered and super unprofessional. And just found out that they've been overcharging me for my last few appointments. Never seen anything like it until switching to this location from the Puyallup one. The person on the phone just sounded completely idiotic.

My wife went in for a regular check up today. She came home in tears from the treatment she was given. Not only was she not well cared for she was confused on what they were doing and why. She ended up with an unexpected mole removal. The whole thing was rushed, confusing, and the follow up was not clear at all for her on processes for the healing. She's been through biopsy and removal before and never had an experience like this.

Do not recommend this office/place. I was treated as a chore rather than a patient, and it left me with a terrible experience due to a lack of communication and sensitivity. Ended up being rushed through a minor procedure without proper clarity and full understanding of what was going on, which caused me to almost pass out half way through it due to feeling overwhelmed.

I was under the impression it would be a biopsy, but they did more than that. They also didn't give the medicine enough time to numb me so I could feel parts of the procedure (which had cutting and cauterizing). When I communicated to the PA that I could feel it, she blew it off at first and continued into cauterizing; it wasn't until the second time I spoke out that she made the assistant give me another shot.

I could still feel it after that. At the end, the PA completely blew it off and had little to no care. At this point I was almost in tears. I will definitely be looking for a new skin care facility. I am not an online rater who speaks out too often, but this was bad enough to where I would like to help prevent other patients from going through the same experience.

Eventhough I have only had work done from the Eye department, I can testify to the professional, comprehensive, erudite and highly skilled and medical board certified doctors, technicians and support staff of Cascade Eye and Skin Centers. The organization has multiple locations throughout the Pacific northwest. I've personally visited the University Place and Puyallup offices. I recommend this electric medical specific facility hand down.

I do not recommend going to Cascade Eye and Skin. I went in for my third tattoo removal session in the pack I paid for. I saw Cheryl Cavanagh for this service and while she seems nice enough, she was not as professional as I would have hoped. I went into the office and got checked in. Cheryl grabbed me an ice pack to start numbing up my arm for the session (there was an employee birthday, so everyone was around the front desk watching her open her gifts, which is fine).

There was no hand washing at all. Also, while still being in a pandemic and in a facility that requires masks, she likes to pull her mask down. She was finally ready and had called me to come on back with her to the room for the session. The room we went to didn't have gloves (according to her they have only been sending a certain amount PPE for the whole clinic), so she asked a co-worker to grab her some gloves.

As soon as she was going to toss the old box, the co-worker brought a handful of gloves, so Cheryl used that same box to put those gloves in. (Again, no hands were washed). We finally started the session and in that session she was trying to adjust the laser in her hand pointing it everywhere (including in my direction) which was dangerous. She said that she basically relies on hearing the clicks to know if it's working (apparently it doesn't always make those noises).

She also missed a whole section on my arm, then realized and went over it. When going back to the lobby she wanted to schedule me for the next appointment, she checked the bandaging squeezing my arm. I said "ow" because I obviously just had a laser to my arm and it was sensitive. Apparently she thought it was funny or wanted to be funny in front of her co-workers so she squeezed my arm again (pretending to squeeze it super tight while laughing) and that still hurt.

This was incredibly unprofessional. I held everything I had to say from the first time I had my first session with her. I refuse to go to a place where she at times doesn't seem confident in what she's doing and the fact that not once did I see her wash her hands when I had my sessions. I'm paying a lot of money for this service and expect proper hygiene for medical setting and certain professionalism.

I left here feeling so beyond upset. How discriminatory to parents of small children you are. They wouldn't let me into my appointment because I had my well behaved 2 small kids, one masked, with me? There was no indication of any of this before I left to my appointment. I just wanted a picture check, they could come to my dang car and done it and called me for the talking part. Now I have to wait an additional 2 months to see if I need a biopsy? You putting someone's immediate health needs as such a low priority is ridiculous.

I hardly ever write google reviews, let alone of a medical practice, but it is insane here. My first appointment was canceled the night before due to a sick doctor (understandable. stuff happens), but they only tried to contact me once by phone and didn't leave a message. Do they not utilize email here? It was so annoying to drive and then get turned away, but hey no big deal.

Maybe my voicemail was clogged, that's on me. I finally get in three months later, and the appointment felt rushed but it was fine. The tech who saw me was a bit short and unfriendly, but maybe she had a bad day. Medical staff are busy. However, I've now been informed that my new follow up appointment (scheduled 3 months out), has to be canceled (at least they told me ahead of time now). Inconvenient, but life happens.

I've tried to be understanding, but I've reached my limit. Now no one will answer the phone! Ever! I tried to do the online scheduling and that doesn't work either! You try to click the continue button and nothing works! You try to call and schedule the old-fashioned way, and you'll be on hold all day. It's ridiculous. I do not recommend going here at all.

The disorganization and lack of communication astounds me. No thanks. I get stuff happens but if I can't even reach your office to get a follow up appointment (which will probably be in 2022 by the way they operate), something is deeply wrong here. Never again!

This was for my second cataract surgery and everyone was just as pleasant and welcoming as the first time. I felt fortunate to have the same nurse, Alex, as I had previously but was pleased with the care from everyone else as well. I was amazed how quickly Dr. Drouillard performed the procedure.

Horrible, absolutely horrible front desk work. Perhaps it's time for some of the less computer savvy crotchety front desk people like Julie the supervisor to retire. I took time off work to take my teen for a skin appointment. He'd been a patient here for almost seven years. While they agreed he had an proper appointment (which is referral based) they contented that he had never been a patient and never had a referral or authorization.

They said that I would need to sign a waiver and pay for the appointment out of pocket. It took over 30 minutes of discussion for them to realize (yet not admit) their mistake. My son could be seen, had been seen there for years, he was covered under 2 different insurers, and no waiver needed to be signed Advice: don't sign any of their shady forms without first consulting and attorney- they clearly care more about your money then your child's health. I wonder how many lawsuits they have pending against them.
