LASIK eye surgeon Paul H. Chen's office is equipped with laser technology, including the VISX S4 laser, which can perform customized Wavefront treatments.
Aqueous humor: The clear, watery fluid between the cornea and the lens that helps the eyeball keep its shape. Crystalline lens: Transparent body located behind the iris that focuses light waves on the retina. Lens: A thin, transparent structure behind the iris and the pupil that focuses light rays onto the retina.
In addition to LASIK, we offer ASA (Advanced Surface Ablation), a refractive procedure that can correct myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism. We also offer treatment for cataracts and glaucoma to patients in Carlsbad and all over San Diego County. ASA, or Advanced Surface Ablation, is an outpatient refractive procedure that is used to correct nearsightedness (myopia), farsightedness (hyperopia), and astigmatism.
Cataracts can cause serious visual difficulties. A cataract involves the progressive clouding of the eye's crystalline lens. This clouding blocks the passage of light and, when left untreated, can lead to blindness. Thankfully, through the implantation of modern intraocular lenses (IOLs), cataract patients can replace affected lenses and improve their visual abilities.

I've had the best experience here! They are so friendly while also being very fast and efficient, and take very good care of you. I received ASA laser eye surgery in both eyes (one at a time, ~2 months apart). I was a bit nervous going in but the surgery team made me feel at ease and did a fabulous job! This option takes longer for your eyesight to improve compared to LASIK (but is safer, which is why I went with it!), and it took my eyes 2-3 months to achieve a high degree of stable clarity. I'm SO happy with my new eyesight and so glad I finally pulled the trigger!

When I decided the time was right to have corrective vision surgery, the task of choosing the right doctor was daunting. I decided to go with Dr. Chen after reading testimonials and learning he has had this practice for over a decade. I am so glad it was the correct choice as Dr. Chen and his staff were courteous, knowledgeable, and thorough. I was very nervous during the LASIK procedure but the doctor and operating room staff were reassuringly professional and everything turned out better than I expected! I would now recommend anyone looking into attaining improved vision a consultation at this practice!

I decided to have PRK surgery done by Dr. Chen and could not be happier with my experience! After a thorough consultation I was very impressed by the office. Every team member was so helpful and Dr. Chen was extremely informative about my surgery options. I now have 20/15 vision and never realized how much I would appreciate not having to deal with contacts.

I had LASIK surgery around a month ago and wish I would have had the procedure years ago. From initial consult to my current follow-ups, Dr. Chen and his staff have been nothing but diligent and professional at every visit I have had so far. All information that I needed to know was presented to me and any questions I had were answered swiftly. The procedure itself takes very little time at all and the recovery is very easy to manage. If you have been looking into doing lasik, I highly recommend Dr. Chen and crew at North County Laser eye Associates in Carlsbad, Ca. They are very professional and clean. They answered all questions financially and medically making sure i was well educated on lasik procedure and options. I have done a lot of research and came across North County laser eye Associates and I am extremely happy that I went this route and with Dr. Chen. They made me extremely comfortable during procedure and all my follow ups always answering all my questions. And now I can see clearly without my contacts or glasses.
