Yelm Family Medicine was established in 1979 by Dr. William Elledge under the name Nisqually Clinic. Its original location was in the Nisqually Plaza complex. The practice continued to grow with Yelm, and the business moved into the Cullens Road building in 1985 along with the addition of Dr. William Penn.
As Family Medicine providers, we believe in working towards a healthy lifestyle to prevent illness and disease before it occurs. Maintaining your routine physicals with your provider is a way for us to partner with you to ensure all recommended screening tests and opportunities for lifestyle changes are addressed. See recommended frequency of visits and recommended screening tests below.
Chronic diseases are medical issues which become prolonged or lifelong illnesses. Examples include diabetes, high blood pressure, depression, asthma, arthritis, and many others. These illnesses require more frequent monitoring and follow up visits with your medical provider. Many patients are taking prescription medications which require regular monitoring of bloodwork to ensure your body is safely handling these medications. Regular visits with your provider allows for evaluation of your treatment plan, addressing your questions and concerns and avoiding medical errors.
We are committed to providing our patients with availability of same day appointments for acute medical issues. We want to be your medical home providing care both when you are acutely sick or injured, and for your routine physicals and medical needs. We offer these services to both our existing, and new patients, provided we are contracted with your insurance.

I have given Yelm family Medicine so many chances. I'm just done. I could explain how many times this establishment has let me down but I'm just going to make it short and sweet. Trust me and avoid this place. Go ANYWHERE else! This place is the worst! I never write reviews online but this place has made me mad enough to get online and type this.you've been warned.

I have been going here for over 10 years, only because my wife wants me to keep giving them chances. Now, we are finally through thank goodness. Lost all trust in their competence. If all you want is a basic routine check up and you know your healthy, or need to use the restroom, this is your place. Otherwise, good luck. Absolutely horrible organization.
How on earth a clinic can lose a patients personal information is beyond me. Multiple times I've been misdiagnosed, and now with covid around, they're too scared to see anyone. I understand safety, but there's safety, then there's pure laziness. Covid screening is a joke. Mother has a bad case of COPD. Needed to refill her prescription for oxygen.
Doctor prescribed it over the phone, but couldn't get it because she needed to do an in person test. Yelm family told her no since she has shortness of breath and that's a covid symptom. THATS A COPD SYMPTOM TOO! Told us to do test in ER. Hospital got irritated with us for going here. We explained and they turned their frustration to Yelm Family. 5 days following this ER visit, my mom got covid and almost died. Thank you Yelm Family, you're sure doing your part to keep everyone safe. You should not be practicing medicine.

Find a different doctors office! Worst doctors office I have ever experienced. I had an injury that my doctor said would improve with just time. But I requested to see a specialist anyway. Several months later when I returned for another issue the doctor said "I see your injury has improved." I replied "ya, I had surgery." Do the doctors not read the patients chart?
My specialist sent over all the information. This doctor made no effort to diagnose to real problem, nor did they care too. I was just another office visit so they could collect my money. No effort was made by the doctors at Yelm Family Medicine to help. They take your money yet do nothing make you better. I'm not sure if it's because the doctors are incompetent or just don't care. Either way, you won't receive proper health care from this facility. This office is a waste of my time and money. I would never recommend this facility to anyone!

Janine in billing is an absolute witch! And her supervisor isn't much better. My husband needed a covid test. He had no symptoms or exposure, just needed a negative test for work. I called ahead and asked YFM if they offered the covid test and if the charged for the visit. The lady at the front desk said there was no charge. So I scheduled the appt.
Later on I received a bill for the appt. I called and asked why I was charged for the appt I was told there would be no charge for. Janine was incredibly rude, speaking over me, and told me that "I ASKED THE WRONG QUESTION". Excuse me? I asked if there would be a charge, how more specific do I need to get? I did not realize the woman at the front desk had signal digit IQ's and needed questions drawn out for them.
I asked if my husband would be charged to come in and get the covid test. I was told he wouldn't. She transferred me to her supervisor who again insisted I was in the wrong. She said there wasn't a charge for the test but there was for the "office" visit. I asked why that wasn't explained to me by the front desk ladies and again I was told I didn't ask the right questions.
I'm really not sure how I could have been more specific? And I'm not sure why both women claim their front desk staff or to stupid to answer simple questions correctly. Shows how much they think of their co-works. Both women were incredibly rude, talked over, insulted me and Janine even shouted at me. She should be fired. That is not how you treat people.

I have never been treated so rudely from a medical place in my life. I made a appointment for all 3 of my kids on one day and we were 20 minutes late and I know that is my fault they wouldn't see me that day so we made a new appointment for all my kids two weeks later. I get a call on the day of the first kids app one hour prior to the app and told I was Permanently discharged and banned my whole facility for life now why did they waste my time and let me make new appointments at all and why not call sooner.
I have been to that Facility for myself for a while now and they're never on time they're always 20 to 1hr behind schedule always. The lady on the phone wasn't even apologetic she's like hey this is your problem not mine I'm not talking to the dr for you. so I was late one day I did show just late and got band for life? They unprofessional, disorganized, Heartless with no Compassion and I wouldn't want them as my Doctor anyway. I have never been treated so horrible

Staff is doing a great job, easy to talk to and interact with & treat me with respect which I really appreciate. Dr. Unruh is very competent in LGBT medicine and I'm really so grateful for their care. I have a lot of anxiety around doctors but the nursing staff always makes me feel cared for. There are long wait times occasionally but I've had that problem everywhere I go.

My son and I have been going here for almost 3 years now and the care we have received has been nothing short of amazing. Dr. Sweet literally saved my life. Not only is she passionate about her career but she listens to my every concern when it comes to my son and I. Her and her nursing staff are very punctual and attentive when it comes to referrals, lab results and returning any calls they receive from me.
I've never waited longer than 15 minutes past my appointment and they always would notify me beforehand if they are running behind. Since going there I have never encountered a bad apple at the front desk. They are always super friendly and welcoming. Calling and making appointments with them is always stress free as well. By far the best care I've received since moving to Washington, Thank You Yelm Family Medicine!
