If i could rate this place with zero stars i would. We were admitted through a different out of town hospital and sent here. We arrived at 12:30am. Everything went smooth but slow. The doctor came in and said oh you must be feeling better if you're playing on your phone to my 9 year old who was watching Netflix. Then proceeds to tell her well let's try food.

We order & her pain level shoots back up. We call the nurse & she gives Tylenol & says she will call the doctor and didn't hear anything else for over 2 hours when the vitals nurse came in and i asked what the hold up was during thiS time period my child was crying and writhing in pain waiting for the doctor we trusted them to have called hours before hand.

She said she'd check with the nurse and over an hour later she came In and said the plan was for discharge & said the doctor was in clinic and would be in after wards another hour goes by. & they chock it to a GI bug. Yet I've never seen a GI bug Favor the right side and increase in pain upon intake of food or fluids. The "doctor" (physician assistant) stated her appendix looked good on the CT.

But had no desire to even attempt to find a solution or look for an explanation. The nurse told her it was a crampy pain. Which was inaccurate. She was having severe stabbing pain & her GI through mercy had stated they could call & speak to them since they've seen my child since she was a few months old. There was no compassion in the care we received, no problem solving.

I wouldn't recommend this hospital to anyone. Take the drive to st Vs or rainbow childrens. Currently awaiting paperwork to take her to a more competent & caring facility who actually cares to assist a child with sky high BP from pain & not attempt to write off the symptoms due to laziness and incompetence.

I am currently here with my 14 year old who has had a heart rate over 130 for a few days. I was very sceptical and scared about coming to the hospital. I am very glad we have had the pleasure of such wonderful and welcoming staff! Our nurses, doctors, food service workers, CT technicians, and housekeepers have gone above and beyond. Not to mention, we had the best nursing student ever!

Very professional and courteous. Also, a huge thank you to the promedica ambulance staff for the laughs and comfort on the ride from Bay Park to Toledo. Thank you Toledo Hospital!

My son has been going to Toledo Hospital off and on for two years. The nurses are great, but they are so under staffed that meals take 4 hours and rooms don't get cleaned They seem like they never know what's going on. Always coming to do tests for the wrong person. Save yourself the trouble and go to the Cleveland Clinic.

The nurses are really great, friendly, sweet and helpful. The doctors are great at answers all your questions and making sure everything is going well! They listen to your needs and discomfort. I feel as if I'm in good hands and so is my baby. If any staff reads this, you guys are great and I understand you guys are busy and stressed. Just keep up the good work.

The one star given here is ONLY given because of ONE RN over a 24 day stay at this soul sucking place! RN Vicki in th NICU was hands down the best nurse I could have asked for. I wish she could have worked every shift during our time there. She was incredibly knowledgeable and informative, insanely helpful, sympathetic to our situation- as she herself has been on the other side as a mother of a child with lifelong health problems.

She was constantly going above and beyond to make sure my baby, myself, and fiancee were content, comfortable, and constantly gave us more information in five minutes than we had received the whole first week of being there. She certainly is a saint in that place and I wish I could track her down to repay her in some way! She was so kind, so calm and understanding when we were so upset.

She helped us by sharing her own personal experiences of being on the other side of patient care throughout her daughter's life and remained professional in every way. I wish every nurse in that place was just a FRACTION of the person and nurse that she was to us. There are a few other DECENT nurses, and I use that term very loosely, as 90% of them only are there for a paycheck and can't or won't be bothered for much else. Seriously!

They sit around and gossip, not only about their personal lives, but the parents and babies in the NICU. it's absolutely unbelievable and just so wrong. We had several nurses mock us and stick their noses up in the air at us, being truly miserable and spiteful for no reason. They are only there to do their job and more than half of them can't bother to do that much.

That's why I'm so grateful for Vicki- who not only did her job with extreme due diligence, but MADE THE TIME to make sure we were at least somewhat happy. Dr. Ethington was also a true standout there among a handful of, in my opinion, incredibly unhelpful and nasty doctors. I will say the Ronald McDonald House there is beautiful and was a wonderful home away from home that I unfortunately spent less than 2 hours a day in, and sometimes not at all, because I literally FEARED leaving my daughter in the hands of the utter incompetence that is the nursing staff.

We even had to make SEVERAL complaints to the charge nurses and nursing administration (YES MORE THEN ONCE WE HAD TO BRING PROBLEMS TO THEM!) that did nothing but smile and nod to us and then make NO changes or offer any solutions to ease our stay. Terrible experience. Isn't it sad that the biggest reason I don't want to be a mother again, is because I fear, SO MUCH, having a child prematurely and reliving the horror that is Toledo Children's Hospital. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE IF YOU HAVE A CHOICE, GO TO RAINBOW BABIES IN CLEVELAND. I've never even personally been there, but I would venture to say it CAN NOT be any worse than ProMedica.

While my daughter was in NICU, her IV was swollen, red, and bleeding. When I told the nurse she said "oh, it was put in wrong and we'll get that fixed." I went back to my room as I was still admitted to sleep and when I came back up there in the morning, the IV WAS STILL IN HER ARM. Once again I asked the nurse (shift changed so we had a different nurse) and she said that it was put in wrong and she'll get it changed.

She changed my daughters IV and that was that, I want to know why the first nurse didn't change her IV. Another time while I was up there to see my daughter she started to fuss and I figured that the nurse would help, because I really had to pump (takes twenty minutes) when I came back into my daughters room, she was crying really hard and I went out to see where her nurse was and she was across the floor laughing and talking to her coworkers and ignoring my daughter, along with other babies crying in her section.

I demanded a different nurse. The communication between day and night staff is awful, I was told three times she could come home and every time the next shift doctor would say something different. My daughter was there for 17 days and I feel like she could have been there for 14. I'm no doctor so I couldn't say for sure. I just wish they communicated with each other better and let the parents in the loop.

Hospital patient care is wonderful but billing is horrible, not because they charge you too much but because they took my child insurance information wrong every time (it happened twice last year and this year) and they sent the bills to my home, I call them and correct the information they correct it for admission bills but not for ER, I call again and I gave them the information and my insurance pay everything then I surprised with the collectors mail asking me to pay, or fax to prove the payment (more than one time every time different employee, it is time wasting). It took months until they stopped sending payed bills mails I will think million times before I decide to visit the hospital again.

Pediatric ICU has the best staff and proper training Hats off for to ALL THE PEDIATRIC ICU NURSES, DOCTORS RESPITORY THERAPIST, CLERKS, PHYSICAL AND OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY, ENVIORMENTAL SERVICES ECT, id give 5 stars to the THEM BUT the rest of the floor n the newer area with oxygen on the wall he is a BSN nurse in charge of that floor and area of hospital for pediatrics and hes been descriminating against me for 2 yrs now cause he doesnt supervise his workers nor make sure they have proper training for patients, instead of actually making changes or do proper testing he jus continue to let children suffer on the floor and go back to the icu for 5 times as long they jus got released on and require more oxygen and higher preasure due to his negligence, charge nurses dont care respitory therapist supervisors didnt care excecutive director didnt care her and him and some of social work specially were worried about who has custody of the child wen ive been there for my child past 2 yrs dealing with there negligence and not proper standard of care for a pediatric child, i had to reach out to the Adminsitrators on call of the hospital to get information about my child while i was away working cause no one would return my calls doctors nor nurses almost 8 hrs multiple times situations and to be treated as a parent should be any problems call the admin on call!

Very SAD AND NOT A GREAT EXPERIENCE AT ALL if one parent or child deals with that how many more have to keep going thru the situation discriminated and not listened to nor attempt to better the care for a innocent child when times are bad enough at a hospital for ur child.

Daughter had to be sedated for an MRI. Nursing staff was great. They were very informative and friendly every step of the way! The sedation doctor, on the other hand had horrible bedside manner. Also. he suggested that based on my less than 1yr olds physical appearance. I should have her tested for a very serious disease. If this were at all accurate, I guess I'd be thankful. But, his claims were totally a matter of personal opinion and he worried my entire family for weeks, while we waited on test results.

Although we were pretty confident that she didn't have the disease. hearing from a doctor that she could have it freaks a mommy out! My daughter has been to about 8 doctors since birth and this was the only doctor that had this opinion. Of course the results were negative, as her ped swore they would be. He also decided to discuss it while my daughter was having a horrid time coming out of anesthesia, and I was already very upset.

All of the staff at the peds office were in shock that he had this opinion, the way he went about stating his opinion, and the timing of the discussion. We will be using Mercy for any of our hospital needs from now on! Between this incident, and my horrible experience with labor & delivery, we will NOT be returning to Toledo Hospital. especially Toledo Children's Hospital.
