Until severe chest pain led him to CHKD's Heart Center, Chevaughn Griffiths lived 24 years without knowing he was born with an abnormality in his heart. A life-threatening complication landed 4-year-old Autumn Rivera in CHKD's intensive care unit. She was later diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes, but she doesn't let that slow her down.

06/08/2022- Blanche(desk 1), the registration personnel for radiology, was extremely rude and unprofessional. We were having issues getting checked in and having trouble reaching the correct party for additional confirmation, and throughout the process, Blanche was slamming the phone down over and over, sighing heavily and loudly asking a minor inappropriate questions, even though all the answers to her questions were in front of her.
She overall had a nasty attitude and became unresponsive at one point. This information has also been relayed to management, who advised Blanche does have a poor disposition when things don't go according to plan. I do hope that she is spoken to and receives additional training; no one should have to deal with her attitude on top of dealing with whatever issue that has brought them to the facility in the first place.

THE ED IS TRASHHHHH! 7 HOURS we sat in a room "monitoring" my 3mo twins. they were diagnosed with rsv from their doctor (chkd practice) NOT UNTIL 5 hours in after i asked SEVERAL times for admin, patient advocate, supervisor, manager, ZOOKEEPER, SOMEBODY! nobody wanted to do anything until i was irate. THEN they brought security and a social worker Hannah who bottom line threatened me, she wasnt the only one, lots of threats and no action, seriously all they did was make everything WORSE and expected me to remain calm after they were telling me one thing and doing nothing. the actual medical teams upstairs so far SOLID AS A ROCK GOOOD PEOPLE.
However CHKD has value statment posted with communication as a point, NO COMMUNICATION BETWEEN EMPLOYEES LET ALONE PATIENTS! super stressful and traumatic. waiting to hear back from patient advocate because something needs to be done. no parent in these situations needs to go through this EVER.

I don't have access to my children's records because they turned 14 years old. Excuse me? They are minors, not full adults. Who do you think makes their appointments? Me, their mother. Who do you think is bringing them to their appointments? Me, their mother. I was told that I have to bring my minor children to the doctor's office so that they can fill out paperwork authorizing me access to their information. 14 years old! Seriously?

This place is the best there is! We took our son here last night and everyone was fantastic! We have taken our kids here before but I never wrote a review til now. Kelly in the ER was fantastic with my boy. Normally he does not like Dr.s touching him when he is hurt or dont feel good but she was just amazing with him and he had no probkems with her what so ever. we will drive 1.5 hours here every time we need to go.

Dr. Hoerr preformed our daughters cleft palate repair. It was a complete success. He explains the procedure perfectly, cares about his patients, and understands the parents perspective. Our daughters original pediatricians missed the diagnosis of her cleft palate, and really made me lose trust in the medical field. Dr. Hoerr brought that trust back tenfold.
We are so blessed to have gotten the opportunity to do this journey with him as her surgeon. Thank you again. As for the nursing team who helped our daughter in recovery, thank you. More importantly than helping us, they were angels to our neighbor. A baby had a cleft lip repair, and for reasons unknown to me, was left all night by his parents. The nurses answered every cry.
They even took him to the nurses station to rock him to sleep every time he needed it. They comforted him and cared for him like their own. Going beyond their jobs. We could not recommend this team enough.

We took our daughter here last night for a reaction, and everyone from the front desk to the doctor was absolutely amazing. They were very professional, and got us in and out in a timely manner. Our nurse Hannah was great with our daughter, and our doctor was even more amazing. She was very knowledgeable, patient, and made sure to constantly check in on us. I would drive here from the Peninsula from now on for any sort of medical issues our daughter may have.

If I could give zero stars I would. This place is a hot mess, they need more caring staff and a faster patient care system. I checked in at 6:17 am and didn't see the doctor until I requested the nursing supervisor 5 hours later. When checking in the triage nurse was giving report to her replacement and made a statement I don't have any concerns about anyone in the waiting room.
Then 3 staff members was having a full blown conversation about a sick patient and her parents. Stating the patient needed blood transfusion. Once I got to the back the doctor which was a student /resident came in gave me a diagnosis when i asked was my child contiguous he couldn't give me a straight answer. Not once did he look in her ears listen to her heart or lungs.

And the only reason anyone came in is because I opened the door and asked how long. one nurse responded oh I thought the doctor came in to see you the other nurse said oh he was going to but he had to discharge another patient. So in replacement they sent an inexperienced student who didn't even know my child history or did he take the time to ask. Sentara needs a child hospital because CHKD isn't it!
