I was here for a csf flow study and neurosurgeon visit. Radiology was fine, but when it came to the non-existing neurosurgeon, I became frustrated. His Np filled in (dr. Saddiq), Np (Callie Dickes) and her new assistant. Seems to think my chiari diagnoses was nothing. My brain tissue going into my spine isn't normal. I will have to go out of state to find a specialist for my condition. It's not curable, but surgery can relieve some pressure. If you have what I do, don't go to university. It's a waste of time. Two stars because radiology wasn't put off like my neurosurgeon office.

Drove up to the emergency entrance at 2 am after a terrible experience with Boone Hospital. Three people greeted us at the entrance and immediately helped out our friend. The staff was so helpful and kind. Our friend is okay now.

Worst place ever. The doctor scheduled an appointment without notice and canceled 20 mins before, after we drove an hour there. We weren't notified until we arrived. The guy answering phones ignored my questions and walked away. Health care "professionals" are supposed to be working for you not the other way around. That's why our insurance company pays them.

Zero stars. Profits over patients as has been made visibly clear during all the time I've spent at these hospitals.

Horrible experience with elder care and staff taking care of basic needs of a patient.

The care is great but best to go somewhere else. Their billing is awful. We were sent to collections incorrectly multiple times. No notice sent. Each time we were able to call billing and after many hours of call center wait time it was retraced out of collections. Get great care somewhere else if you can.

Place is full of inexperienced staff and doctors who frequently lie and make mistakes. They are also indecisive which leads to massive wait times and feet dragging. Plenty of unnecessary tests to run up the ridiculous costs and bills too. Get a basic X-ray done and expect the results to be read by your kid doctor sometime within 10 hours. But don't expect said doctor to speak to you. He's probably too busy doing his school work rather than his job. Basic, minimal surgery that would take 2 hours or less extended to 5 hours.

Then recovery from the surgery takes two days before they will issue a discharge. This type of "service" is frequent as my dealings with them has been multiple times over the course of a year+. Furthermore, security staff are of no use and are incapable of providing protection. Then, after they mess everything up and probably make your condition worse, don't expect to see the bill.

They shadow bill you so by the time you are notified it's already in collections and the debt collector is suing you. Better off treating your condition with whiskey and a pair of tweezers.

Ask for an itemized billing statement as I, as well as my insurance company, was charged hundreds of dollars for two injections that I never received. You also receive two bills, one from "University Physicians" and then one for "MU Healthcare" or something to that effect so that they can charge you and your insurance twice for the services you receive, and apparently for services that you don't receive as well.

I also received my first bill with the erroneous charges for the injections on a Monday for the first time, and they were calling on Wednesday for payment. The bill did not state injections either, that was on paperwork that I received from my insurance company. It was under a general description on their billing. They have purposefully made their billing practices confusing as well as using vague descriptors on billing so YOU don't know as a customer what they are charging for and the departments that you have to work with when THEY make a mistake are not coordinating at all to purposely make things near impossible to correct. It wasn't like I received excellent care either, it was sub-par at best. The doctors are of low to mid quality.

Brought someone in to the ER, they have a lot of chronic illness and has been to a lot of doctors. This is by far the most kind and knowledgeable ER staff we've seen. Major shout out to Zach and Nick.

This is a very bad hospital the doctors get kick backs from Big Pharma and they put words in your mouth when you tell them about what you're feeling Although they are the biggest hospital in this area and owned by the State of Missouri just saying they need to not be so political and take care of there patients!

Forcing 100% remote workers to be vaccinated or be fired is ridiculous. Nice way to treat your employees. Discrimination at its best.

How is it that the people that come to work at this hospital and save lives be charged to park with ZERO shuttle service nor security?!?! This is awful and breaks my heart. Imagine standing in the OR on your feet 12hrs trying to save a life then after that, you walk over five blocks to get to your vehicle. Imagine coming in for your 12hr shift but before you even get started to care for patients, you have to walk, in the rain, in the sleet, in the snow, in a thunderstorm.and nobody in management gives a damn. Won't get my business. Shame on you University of Missouri. Too greedy for me. Shame on you charging your employees to come to work.

Madison, my father's RN on the 5th floor, was excellent! The perfect blend of excellent care with a warm, friendly spirit. Dad was encouraged to start eating again and stick with his treatment plan by Madison and the entire team at University Hospital. They 100% saved his life.

One of the best for primary care services in the country. Top medical school. Had great bosses during my tenure. They do need to start investing a lot in their infrastructure, but I've recently they have started.

Crooks, wont tell you upfront how much things cost. Would not have gotten treatment if I had known the prices after insurance and now I have a bill for over $500. Terrible and MU should be ashamed!

Truly one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had. They mislead me about the price of my treatment by telling me I was covered and then billing me for over $700 (all while blaming my insurance). Half of the staff is incompetent and will give you flat out incorrect information, I was initially told there was no way to reduce my costs (that I only had to pay because they told me incorrect information), but was later told by a different rep that there was a way to decrease the amount for out of pocket. Incompetent and irresponsible, they should face legal action, because if you look through the reviews or ask around, my experience is not unique. Shameful. Go to Boone.

I have NEVER in my life left a bad review - simply because I know things happen and hate to bring negativity to any situation or business. BUT THIS IS NOT OK. My 22 year old son was flown from Rolla to Columbia after he was hit by a car on his bike. My son was in and out of consciousness, and his injuries included road rash, concussion, and a skull fracture.

He was admitted on Sunday afternoon and released Monday morning. I was told he had been sedated, and was having a hard time fully coming out of it. Due to COVID - we were not allowed in to see him. When we spoke on the phone Monday morning, his speech was low and he sounded half asleep - but we were told he was ready to be released. When we went to pick him up in the patient pick-up area - MY SON WAS ALONE, in a wheelchair wearing ONLY a hospital gown (completely naked underneath), with crazy blood-matted hair, waiting for us.

He was confused and disoriented and cried the moment he saw us. HOW IS IT OK to leave a patient with a concussion and skull fracture ALONE for ANY length of time? He was the hospital's responsibility until we picked him up - and he was left alone. He could have had a seizure, passed out, or gotten confused and wandered off. He still remembers very little about that day, except that he was wheeled next to a phone and told to "dial 90" (or something like that) if no one showed up for him. I'm not even certain he should have been sent home yet.

Oh - and his paperwork was in the back pocket of his wheelchair. There wasn't even anyone around to advise after care or follow up instructions. I understand he is an adult. But I would hope that my husband, mother, or ANY other adult would not be LEFT ALONE in this condition either! COVID or not - NO ONE should be treated this way. I'm grateful nothing happened to him while he waited for us to arrive (which was no more than 15 minutes after we got the call), but this is NOT OK. I've issued a complaint with the "Office of Patient Experience" (their version of patient advocate) and after 3 weeks still have not heard a thing back. This momma is BEYOND frustrated with my son's care.

Don't go here unless you are dying, you'll regret it with every bill you DON'T receive. I visited two separate locations (Emergency room visit and follow up). I setup a payment plan to pay off my $250 ER copay, but I was never informed about a $15 bill that my insurance didn't cover from the follow up (not my copay, this was billed after the visit).

I had been in contact with the billing department on a regular basis to make monthly payments, with no mention of this $15 mystery bill. I do not remember seeing any statement or phone calling discussing the unpaid $15 bill and I eventually received a letter from a debt collector. I called MU Healthcare billing to have this resolved, I was told if I paid the balance it wouldn't be reported to my credit as there was a 30 day window after it was sent to collections before it was reported.

After paying the balance (directly to MU) I ask for something in writing stating this balance would not be marked on my credit and I was denied, stating they do not provide contract information between their partners and third parties such as patients. I was told to contact the debt collector to ensure this wouldn't happen. Since the debt was paid to MU, this should be something MU should take care of!

I asked to speak to a supervisor and I was told there was no supervisor on duty, that position was vacant and waiting to be filled. Surprise! The operator (who was as helpful as he could be for the circumstance) took my info and said someone in upper management would call me back in 7-10 days. I'll update this review if I'm actually contacted back and the matter is resolved. Bottom line, people can't pay bills they don't know about and MU should be able to provide better service to their patients!

Horrible care now that I see how a facility should actually be ran. My care with MU Women and Children's began as a child since it was the place my mother took me. I continued care as an adult since I already had established care there and I wasn't a frequent visitor. Since 18, they have scheduled birth control shots as much as three weeks late when I was receiving them, causing me to take a pregnancy test based on their mistake (I get I should have double checked this, but I truly trusted the nurses to schedule the correct dates).

Upon going under pre-conceptive care, I asked multiple people within the system that all the prenatal tests I was to have done would be covered by my specific insurance, besides a few I was aware of. I was assured that it was. The breaking point came when I received a call to go over all my test results, and a nurse told me I tested positive for Herpes.

I was frantic, but the nurse provided no insight to it and told me I would have to wait for my doctor to call back with details, and rushed me off the phone. After over 5 days of panic, my doctor finally returned my calls and told me there was no positive STD record in my file, ever. That day I called Boone Women Health Associates and transferred care immediately. Then, two weeks later I receive a bill for almost $800 for all the prenatal tests that had been conducted.

Being semi-knowledgeable on insurance coding, I spoke to their billing department and told them that this needed to be re-coded. They did, on three separate occasions, (all from me prompting them to with a phone call or email) and I was assured that their billing system fixes it all and I now only owed $109, for an ultra sound not covered to which I understood. Today, I received a notice from a collection agency, for $223.

In realizing how a stand-up doctors office and billing department works in WHA, it's sickening how MU Health Care is run. I cant imagine how many people that don't know how coding/insurance works that are getting taken advantage of, or credit ruined over these types of mistakes. All that for minimal and negligent care. I am so thankful to now be pregnant and under the care of people I actually trust.

I have spoken to people around casually and all have similar stories, from the lack of compassion shown for diagnoses and care, to the abhorrent billing system they work through. I hate to be that person who writes reviews about a place, but the mismanagement from top to bottom of this system needs to be known.

No disclosure on how much the actual fees are or if your insurance is covered there. Was told my insurance plan would take care of a simple check up and instead got hit with a $189 fee for a basic check up for my sinuses. It's disgusting that the front desk and Billings department takes advantage of students this way. I would recommend going somewhere more professional and with better coverage.

I wish I could give this place Zero stars! They have treated my loved one and I horrible. Everyday it was always something. Leaving needles in my boyfriends bed! Leaving the wound vac off completely and not paying any attention to it. Leaving soiled linens underneath him when he can't remove them himself cause he's bed bound. I guess I'll give them the 1 star for saving his life but that's it.

You would think you would get the best care at this hospital but it's not all what it seems! Every time my boyfriend had to have surgery they cancelled they did it for 3 days in a row had him not to eat all day and then decided it was cancelled. I couldn't go to work feeling like my boyfriend was going to be taken care is I always found something that wasn't being done.

Such as simple things as no ice water by his bedside! The ice machine never had ice in it or even plugged in to help is swelling on his broken femur. Thank God with the experience I have I was able to catch these things. A lot more had went on I could be here all day long talking about this hospital but I think this says enough. Disgusted on how they could treat an individual aka your loved one.

My husband was placed on MU's inactive kidney transplant list over 6 years ago. He was given tasks that he needed to complete to become active (lose around 20 lbs.). He was successful in that and they did activate him over a year later. He began having some health issues and they would promptly make him inactive again. This happened over and over through these 6 years.

At his last annual evaluation to remain on their list (around September 2018) we communicated our frustration at the long delay in getting a transplant. The Transplant Nephrologist said that maybe would should go and get on anther area's list. We did that and in less than 3 months total my husband received his long awaited kidney transplant at Barnes Jewish Hospital.

Today (6/5/2019) we received a call from MU to tell us that once again they would not put him on an active status. I would not recommend anyone needing any type of transplant to go to this hospital. Literally their long delay's have caused deaths in persons that should be alive today. This team truly only looks at the person as a number and a financial contributor to the hospital and nothing else.

This hospital is very well ran. I have worked in a hospital in the past and this hospital has good energy. The staff that I encountered were very caring and informative. I was here for a sibling who was very ill. I was watch everyone like a hawk and after 3 days I landed because my brother received prompt and professional health care services. My only complaint is that the hospital need to get a private company to run their food services.

It just seem that they don't want the responsibility of feeding people who come here. I have been to hospitals that run efficient and well stocked Food services without having tons of waste. The hours of the grille are limited. And the day I was there they hardly had any food to make a simple sandwich.

I received care for a congenital liver disease at MU, for 15 years. After my husband's unexpected death, I began having serious episodes of confusion and disorientation. When I contacted my drs, Jack Bragg and Dennis Ng, their response was to contact my adult daughter and tell her they thought I was abusing opiod medication - even though I had not received any prescriptions and the drug and acohol urine tests they began giving me at every appointment were always clear.

My daughter loved me, but didn't know who to believe. Finally, while visiting my family in Oregon, I became ill and was rushed to the hospital - where I was informed I was in end-stage liver failure, that my confusion was due to hepatic encephalopathy (a major symptom of complete hepatic failure), and placed on the transplant list. I received a liver December 29, 2014.and got the hell out of Missouri, forever, as soon as I could walk.

I would sue these monsters, but I am bankrupted by my illness and struggling with serious issues of PTSD, stemming from it and their treatment of me. I wouldn't send my worst enemy to the butchers at MU University Hospital.

My sister was admitted through ER and was moved to the Medical ICU team on the 5th floor. Dr. Regunath and his team of incredible nurses and attendings, etc., provided excellent care for my sister and our entire family. The team provided us with information as soon as it was available and answered all of our dozens of questions with patience and kindness.

Although my sister lost her battle, this team made the experience the best it could have been. My sister and our family were treated with the highest level of dignity and compassion possible. We are forever thankful for the amazing people we interacted with on a daily basis. Columbia, MO.

I went to the ER twice in one week. They did a x-ray that shows I have a collapsed fractured vertebrae that's right above rids from a previous back break. They gave me no pain medicine and sent home with a few muscle relaxers and naproxen. Now both of my legs have no feeling they're numb and tingly. I can't stand to use them. Because I have no insurance they told me I was between a rock and hard place without insurance and that I need surgery. I'm currently laying in bed with the worse pain I've ever had and no hospital anywhere will help me. I'm looking at the fact that I'll die in this bed. I've tried to get Medicaid and even they said that won't help me. So for me this hospital literally turned me away twice with no help whatsoever. Basically go home and die!

I recently visited the University Hospital on many occasions to visit family members. The parking lot is easily accessible and for the most part, away from the student walking paths. The facilities are clean and easily accessible after a quick visit to the Information Desk. The staff is friendly and willing to answer any questions you might have. The two rooms I visited were both super clean and well-stocked with toiletries, both with nice views of the surrounding areas. I would definitely recommend The University Hospital for your future needs.

When I went to their physical therapist over an injury on my foot, they told me my body was just changing and to not worry about it. Now 3 years later my entire body has been effected by my right foot having a collapsing arch. I know have to go to intense physical therapy, and wear a boot. Many doctors in Chicago told me this could have all been avoided if it was caught early on. MU failed me, which doesn't surprise me.

Great staff. Everyone so nice attentive. Got the best care here. Food was edible. Huge Tvs in every room Only complaints. They empty trash LOUDLY at 230 AM and it's LOUD. why can't it be done during the day or away from the center of buildings where is echoes. And after the nice sweet housekeeper leaves after cleaning my room very well her supervisor comes and asks if it was done to my satisfaction why is this person doing this?

This is regarding their dermatology clinic. EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL. After not being able to contact them by phone I went in to make an appointment. This took close to 1/2 an hour (I was the only one there. The receptionist put several people on hold during this time and NEVER got back to any of them. No wonder I could never get anyone on the phone.) Don't know if these physicians can be trusted if they work in such an unprofessional environment. Don't use the University if you don't have to. We have many other quality healthcare facilities in this city.
