Dowd Medical Associates Women's health is a very important and personal topic. At Dowd Gynecology, we compassionately care for women's health needs during all phases of a woman's life. The foundation of good health is the same no matter your age! Eat healthy, be active, go to the doctor or nurse for regular checkups, take care of your mental health, and don't take unnecessary risks, like texting while driving.

Whether you're in your 20s or 90s, we've got you covered. Did you know? Women of all ages who get enough physical activity can reduce their risk of heart disease and cancer - the most common diseases women have to worry about.
Services
Dowd Medical Associates is a medical practice that includes a pediatrics and a gynecology division. We have two offices with Pediatrics located at 107 Woburn Street, the original Dowd building, and GYN now located around the corner at the 2 Haven Street building. The practice was started more than 50 years ago by a husband and wife team of doctors, the Dowds.
Our group includes seven pediatric providers each paired with a clinical team member who strive to get to know you and your family. Our years of experience and our dedication to ongoing professional education combine to provide you with high quality medical care in our medical home setting. We hope that you and your children will find our office experience to be just that: Quality and Care.
As children grow and develop, managing their mental and emotional health becomes equally as important as their medical needs. Whether it be the "terrible two's", stress as a family undergoes a change or transition, issues with peers, academic concerns, or the challenges faced by adolescent's and teens in today's world, Madeline, as a part of the Dowd team, offers compassionate care to our families in need.
Does your child complain of belly aches, or throw up? Are you worried about constipation, growth, or food allergies? Have you wondered if you should see a gastroenterologist for your child? As so many of our patients are already aware, we are fortunate at Dowd to have the availability of a Pediatric Gastroenterologist in Dr. Meena Ganesh.

We love the practitioners at Dowd - they are caring, attentive, and patient. Their front office staff are lovely as well. We really like that they are open even on weekends and holidays! Their billing office staff however are UNBELIEVABLY rude, impatient, and condescending. If you can avoid interacting with this particular staff member I highly encourage you to do so.

I would happily give a 5 star review to Dowd Pediatrics if it were not for the incredibly negative interactions both my husband and I have had with this individual on several occasions.

I took my three daughters to Dowd Medical for over 20 years. We had the honor of having Dr. Rashba as our primary. We have nothing but wonderful comments to make about this practice and all the doctors and nurses. The whole staff was A++++ consistently ~ they always went above and beyond for us. Couldn't have raised my kids without them.

This review Is for the OBGYN office in Reading. Up until recently, I've had no complaints. I saw Linda Fallon once a year for my annual and last year I saw Kim Angelini who I believe was new at the time. I have nothing bad to say about either of them. Friendly, caring, listening to my concerns and made me feel comfortable. My annual for this year was scheduled at my last appointment last year, as I do every year.

I always make sure to take the day off from work. The DAY BEFORE my appointment this year at 4pm I received a voicemail that was a brief recording saying my appointment has been canceled because the NP was out on leave. (totally understandable BUT TO WAIT UNTIL 4pm ON THE DAY BEFORE MY APPT. UNACCEPTABLE.) I was left completely hanging. I had already made arrangements to take the day off from work and have my kids picked up from school by a relative to make this appt. Whats even more disappointing and frankly bad business is that I NEVER received a call from the staff to reschedule my appointment either. I'm very disappointed as I did like the NP's but will probably not be returning to this office.

My kids were delivered by Dowd Medical and then they were there pediatricians until they were 18. Dowd OBGYN has been my Dr.s for 30 years. Good people!

Dr. Curdo is a five-star pediatrician, and Nurse Katie is also exceptional. The practice is larger than them though, and we've had a variety of experiences, including with the administrative team.

I usually see Linda Fallon and I look forward to my yearly visits with her. I have never had any issues with the office, but then again, I'm an adult who's responsible and organized so I guess that's where I differ from the negative reviews. Linda is personable and caring - exactly what I want in a health care professional. Dr. Carpentier is also wonderful - I've had her for years and she was my ob too for my kids. Excellent service.

Both of our children go here. Dr. Curdo is very knowledgable, down to earth and friendly. Nurse Katie is also awesome. So glad we picked Dowd 7 years ago when our son was born!

I've been a patient off and on of Dowd Medical since 1984. Mr Dowd delivered my first and only child and his wife was his pediatrician. Back in those days care was great. Fast forward 2017. I'm gushing blood. GUSHING. My periods stopped over 5 years ago. My PCP told me to call my gyno and get in right away. I have new insurance that they don't take. (only a few weeks old) BUT IM ABLE TO USE AND BILL the old insurance for a total of 90 days!

They could have confirmed that with a simple phone call to medicare but NO They refused to see me. 33 year relationship DOWN THE TUBES! All you ladies reading this. You know how important it is to get in right away if your gushing blood after not bleeding for years. I highly suggest finding a new gyno or you might find yourself in my position some day. Now off to find an emergency gyno. My 1 mandatory star given is for the senior Dowd's. May they RIP.

I have been going to Dowd Medical Associates to Nurse Fallon, she does not talk about her ex-husband total lie. Nurse Fallon has helped me a lot with my issues over the years and newer issue regarding a rash I had under my arms this past summer, she helped me get rid of my rash and what to do if it returned. Also does not speak about her personal life either that patient was out of line.

The office staff is nice also Specially Pauline if I call need to speak to nurse Fallon on a issue I forgot to discuss with her at my appointment Pauline will always give her my message that I called and my call gets returned so nurse Fallon and myself can discuss the issue. I look forward to seeing Nurse Fallon every year for my yearly appointment with her. That patient who was giving Nurse Fallon a bad rap keep your mouth shut your making a total idiot out of yourself time to grow up act like an adult not a child.

This office is a model for how a Doctors (Pediatricians) office should be run. Great staff, appointments run on time, staff returns after hours emergency calls promptly, weekend and evening hours for sick visits, accessible parking, etc. Wish my personal doctors office had any of these qualities. Superb practice for pediatrics.

Do not go to the OBGYN part of Dowd. The staff is incredibly rude. I had so many issues with this practice, which is a shame, because Dr. Carpentier is really good. Nurse Fallon, on the other hand, constantly discusses her personal life with patients, which is inappropriate. Every visit, she complained about her ex-husband's new girlfriend - so unprofessional.

One example of a particularly bad example I had with Dowd - I called and requested to speak to Nurse Fallon regarding a very personal issue (I should have left before this but it was a convenient office location). A member of the staff told me I was not allowed to speak with her unless I told her my issue. I indicated that I was uncomfortable discussing my issue with someone I did not know, and I would prefer to speak directly with Nurse Fallon. Instead, the staff member yelled at me and hung up the phone.

I did receive a call back from Nurse Fallon, but it was only to further yell at me over the phone for "yelling at a staff member." I was shocked by this, but not surprised that the staff member would lie about her behavior because it was absurd. I hope they have learned to be more professional and respectful to clients.

Friendly doctors/nurses, but don't plan on this office keeping any of your appointments. Every year, every appointment I make for all 3 of my children gets moved. There isn't much consideration for patients time nor schedule.

Been with the practice for 23 yrs, my oldest no longer goes, but my 15, 3 and 1.5 y/o still do. All the peds/nurses are really nice. We see Dr Rashba. He is one of the best. I have referred many friends and people here. They call and check even for just having strep or a slight ear infection. To me this shows they care!

Dr Curdo and nurse Katie have been incredible and I'm so happy to have them care for my children. Dr. Curdo is always happy to answer questions and actually explains what is happening and why. I have never felt rushed, and always leave with helpful parenting "hacks" or helpful tips. My son had horrible reflux for the first few months of his life and I credit dr. Curdo for preventing him from needing medication and for preventing GERD. Also, my kids are amazing sleepers, which is something Dr. Curdo helped my with when I was trying to sleep train. I highly recommend this practice!

My wife and I have been taking our three daughters here for 18 years. The experience has been nothing short of wonderful. All of the doctors and nurses are excellent. I would never consider taking my children anywhere else. I would highly reccomend them to anyone looking for a pediatric practice.

Your child is just a statistic to Dowd If you value your child's health and welfare, do not waste your time with this practice. This practice does not believe in a parental rights, and will not hesitate to let you know your kid is not your own. This practice and its unfriendly doctors will insist that your child have shots that are not required and, when questioned, will not hesitate to belittle you.

Direct quote when confronted with side effect facts as a result of the unnecessary shots "THE BENEFITS OUT WAY THE RISKS!" Not a place to trust with the health and well-being of children.

I've been taking my daughter here for 3 months now and they have been so helpful. The doctors and nurses are friendly and nice, plus they have excellent weekday and weekend hours. including Sunday. Seriously. I asked 3 friends for pediatric recommendations and two of them come here. When I saw their hours and range of specialties, I didn't look anywhere else. If this is a convenient location for you, I recommend them!

I think that the few negative reviews are about the OB/GYN practice. The pediatric practice is awesome! Frequently you get someone live on the phone, but if not you get a quick call back. They're great with scheduling, they have a separate sick waiting room and all of the staff are wonderful to work with. They provide some silly soft touches that make a difference, like reminder phone calls for appointments, developmental handouts at well-baby appointments, and a nursing staff that will humor my son and let the train drive by before his appointment.

We've had a very good experience with the pediatricians at Dowd--call backs are immediate even in the middle of the night and follow up calls are the norm when there has been a concern or question from an appointment or lab work. Dr. Borer takes a lot of time with us in answering our questions and offers freely offers useful information. They have a sick room and a healthy waiting room as well which is always appreciated.

The OB/GYN practice has split off--can't say anything about them, but the pediatricians are great, always call you back, are terrific about answering after-hours calls and Dr. Curdo is terrific with my kids! Absolutely would recommend!

Dowd Pediatrics is wonderful! Our little one seems to only get sick at 3am or on Sunday - we call our doctor at Dowd and get a call back within 10 minutes. We've seen them go beyond the call of duty many many times on behalf of the children entrusted to their care. It inspires great confidence for us to know they're there as a resource in caring for you

Don't try to set up an appointment here unless you have 5 months to wait! I just moved to the area and was looking for a new doctor and I happened upon this place while I was out around town one day. I decided to call to set up an appointment since I'm due for my annual exam in July and I know it usually takes a couple of months to get into a new place. WELL, I was informed that I couldn't make an appointment until September! Holy crap, who books their pap smears 5 months in advance?!? Too bad for them, I'll just have someone else look at my glorious funbox.
