Absolutely unprofessional staffing at this hospital. Dr. Desantis in the ER carelessly dismissed everything brought up to him and swept any of my concerns under the rug without listening. Very unethical way of treating patients and creating a distrusting atmosphere during medical emergencies. Several procedures were done improperly or not at all. Entire visit was less than 4 min.

I only had praises for the hospital after my husband was seen in the er and then admitted. He had wonderful er staff and the 2nd floor nurses were amazing. That was all ruined by a 2nd er visit last night, Sunday, august 8,2021. After receiving a call checking on my husband from someone at the hospital, i was told he probably needed to go back to the er since he was worse.
I drove him to the er and they took him right back. Not 5 min later a nurse practitioner came in and had a bad attitude from the start. She acted like she could care less what I was telling her and she immediately said she could tell he wasn't dehydrated by his vitals in triage. She said that before she even looked at him. He has lost over 35 pounds in 3 weeks and couldn't stay awake and was barely able to sit up or walk.
She dismissed my concerns and said she agreed that he was very sick, but she would not be giving him an iv, because she used a scale or chart or something that I can't remember that tells her if he's dehydrated or not using his vitals. She also said that there was nothing she could do for him until we found out if he had chf. I asked what that was and she said congestive heart failure.
I guess that was because of the chest and neck pain he had been complaining about and he had undergone some heart testing to rule out a problem with his heart. We are now at the er in Amarillo and my husband is receiving excellent care. I wish I would have asked her name, so I could warn people about her. EDIT. He was very dehydrated like I thought when I took him back to the Er in Dumas last night.
He is finally receiving an iv. His electrolytes are also way off. The nurse practitioner might have known that if she would have done more than look in his throat or listen to his heart. EDIT to say that he was admitted to the hospital and spent 4 days receiving iv fluids the whole time. He was diagnosed with acute kidney injury and He was severely dehydrated and needed 4 liter of fluid in the er before he was moved to his room. Also, the chest pain and shortness of breath was pneumonia.
After iv antibiotics his pain went away. I filed a complaint 8 days ago with a man named Cody. He told me that he would investigate and get. Back to me in a couple of days and I have not heard from him.

If I could rate a zero I would have. I went in violently ill throwing up and dizzy and that doctor literally told me it was phycological and all in my head and that I was making myself sick. I went for a second opinion and thank god I did because my gallbladder was so sick I was scheduled to get it removed the next day. This hospital is trash.

I was very happy with the care I received while in the hospital here for some minor surgery a few years ago. I started doing some volunteer work and found all the staff to be very friendly & courteous! The hospital is clean and when volunteering at the nursing home, I have witnessed the staff watching over the patients with the greatest care, love & compassion. I will not mind when it is time for me to go into this nursing home. I've been to visit many others in other states & they were not so nice.
