Services
CCSI is dedicated to providing quality medical oncology, hematology, radiation oncology, and urologic oncology services in central and southern Illinois. Our physicians and staff are caring, compassionate, competent and devoted to giving patients quality care. We encourage patients and their families to actively participate in the patient's treatment and pain management.
Hematology is the study of blood, the parts of the body where blood is formed, and blood diseases. In addition to offering cancer-related services, CCSI also specializes in hematology, including the treatment of patients with anemias, bleeding, and clotting disorders. Patients referred to CCSI for hematology services will meet with a hematologist for an initial consultation, review of family history, and detailed examination. In addition, bleeding or clotting tests will be drawn and analyzed.
Radiation oncology is the treatment of cancer with radiation. Radiation treatments can be used to shrink a tumor, stop the growth of cancer cells, prevent cancer from spreading, and reduce the symptoms of cancer. Fifty to sixty percent of all patients diagnosed with cancer receive radiation treatments.
Pain is one of the most feared consequences of having cancer. The physicians and staff of Cancer Care Specialists of Illinois believe pain management is a right of each patient. Pain management should be part of each patient's care from the beginning of cancer treatment. Patients and families are encouraged and should be active participants in pain management. Our physicians have special training in pain management and supportive care for patients with cancer.
Patient & Family Education is a key element at CCSI facilities. CCSI physicians and staff encourage patients to include their family or close friends throughout treatment. We believe it is vital for both patients and their families to understand what the diagnosis means, how treatment will help, and what results the patient and family can expect.
