In 2020, my mental health was declining, so I decided to contact the Evelyn Frye Center seeking help at the advice of my primary care doctor. Over a two week period, I called 3x and had to leave a message each time. Not once did I ever receive a call back. It took a LOT of effort to force myself to seek help, and to be completely disregarded was a slap in the face. Poor business.

Dr. Frye changed my life. I cannot thank her enough. Her expertise and wisdom have helped to guide me through some of the most difficult periods of my life and I've learned to live with myself and be the best version of myself instead of trying to force myself to be something I am not.

Back in 2018 or so I spent almost $300 out of pocket to once and for all get my ADHD diagnosis (worth it because I finally got answers) in 2020 I lost my insurance and had to quit meds cold turkey, have been trying since then to get my records sent over that were promised to be a lifetime record I could use if I ever needed to switch doctors. I've moved states and its been 2 years, no phone calls back, no emails back, no response on reviews.

I've left countless messages as well. This place is a joke, they will never answer your calls, even when I was a patient, it was a nightmare getting anyone to call you back or answer during hours. The staff is lazy and I've witnessed them sitting around doing nothing while phones are ringing off the hook. I'm now looking into reporting them due to refusal of sending me my medical records! Avoid at all cost!

My husband Thomas seen Dr. Evelyn Fry, many years ago. He speaks of her very offen. While going through a divorce and a hard time at work. She helped him come to trems with his new life. Thomas even moved her yard. That helped also. Thomas is over 80 now and doing wonderful. Thank you Dr. Fry

I would avoid this place at all cost. The counselors and NP are great, but the administration portion is outsourced and they have consistently changed hands. I've been a patient since 2010. Multiple therapists (all great) have left the practice because of the nonsense. This will be my last year as they are no longer accepting insurance. Also, if you have a balance, they will not send in refills for medication. How is that in the patients' best interest? Your best bet if you need help is to go through your Primary Care.

Office staff is totally unresponsive. They don't answer or return phones or e-mails. I had to go to the office in person to settle things. I needed med refills. I left messages, and the pharmacy did the same, and no one from the Frye center would return the calls. I am totally fed up. Do not go there!

The therapists are amazing, but the front office is almost impossible to work with. It's always been this bad. I've had good therapist leave the center because of the nonsense. The front office needs to be overhauled ( for like a 10th time) and finally get it right. I mean, how hard can it be to be responsive to people who really need you. Currently looking for another psychiatrist bc I don't want to deal with the attitude and ineptitude of the front office anymore. Patient of 10+ years

Let me first state that my therapist while I was a patient at the Evelyn Frye Center was AMAZING! I give her 5 stars, this review is of the EFC and it's office. Barriers to good mental health care are bad enough as is in the United States. Even once you are a patient at the EFC you should still expect to have to deal with these same barriers. Communication with the office staff to set up appointments, find out what to expect for these new "virtual" appointments and just communicating with the EFC in general is an absolute nightmare.

In my personal experience I have NEVER been able to call in and speak to a human. It's layers of recorded messaging leading you, ultimately, to the only option of leaving a voicemail. none of which have ever been replied to in my case. Option 2 is email. good luck! By far, the most "responsive" option is option 3 - via text message, of course you would need to be an established patient and have received a text from them to utilize this method, not to mention the fact that they will only reply when they feel like it, if they feel like it.

Without going into details of my most recent encounter with them, I will just say that, in my opinion, the EFC has been at worst deceitful in their interactions with me and at best horrible with communication. Avoid them at all cost! YOU'RE FIRED!

In 12 years of being a patient of the Evelyn Frye Center, I have worked with six therapists. Not because I'm picky. It's because the therapists don't like the working environment. They leave for better opportunities. The therapists have been fantastic. The office staff, though friendly, have provided the worst service. Try to call someone at the office.

You won't get anyone, just a voicemail. Good luck on getting a call back or email. As of today, I have been waiting 48 hours for a return phone call to set up an appointment. Is the practice still in business? After 12 years, I'm moving on. I hope they took my picture because I won't be back.

I really love my therapist, but the office is a mess. Communicating with them, especially during the current pandemic when you can't just go to the office in person is "difficult" to put it kindly. I can never get a human to answer the phone, it is always an answering machine with prompts that ultimately lands you with only the option of leaving. a voicemail. Alternatively if you are an existing patient, you can text them. but don't expect any urgency in their response.

It's sad that with as much stigma and barriers that exist in America with obtaining mental health care, that once you finally are in the system and receiving help, you still have to fight barrier after barrier to get assistance with things as simple as making appointments and communicating with the office regarding those appointments.

I have been a patient at Evelyn Frye for >10 years. It was a much more responsive and patient oriented place and I felt that my therapist was concerned regarding me and my problems. It is now a problem even getting a response in a reasonably appropriate way like addressing a really urgent need. On 3/12 my antidepressants ran out. My pharmacy gave me a 3 day emergency supply and sent a request for an OK from my provider.

They never got a response. They attempted more than once to connect but no go. I left messages, texted but never got a response. I understand caution. I myself can't go back to work until I've been system free for 24 hours. As a healthcare provider myself, I consider it appalling to not keep up with the needs of the people I serve. Finally got a text today from a person!.

Who said that they would get with my provider, who never responded again. Even if they have closed the office d/t the Virus, they can't catch it ONLINE or from a FAX. They JUST updated the website. The MENU MESSAGE didn't even reflect the fact that they were closed. GOOD LUCK to others who have urgent situations. I'm looking for a clinic that actually cares for their patients.

Please, don't go here unless it's your last option! Therapists and psychiatrists/nurse practitioners do not last long at all; maybe 6mos to a 1 year. Support staff is even shorter. Good luck scheduling over the phone, and leaving a voice message is a joke! Texting and email are the best way to communicate. However, if you are imprecise even a little bit, you can find all your appointments canceled or changed wholly. Also, expect surprise bills every so often.

I was informed by a staff member that they don't properly bill insurance all the time, and that support depts are a mess! Something that has happened to me quite often is getting billed for appointments i canceled days or weeks earlier, getting billed for appointments I paid in cash, getting billed for appointments where the provider canceled or didn't show. In fact, I just trashed a bill from EFC about appointments I canceled a month in advance!

As many others have said, my provider was fine, but this office is a mess: I spent months trying to contact this office to remedy a billing error (a $100 no-show fee for an appointment I had already cancelled). It was thankfully finally resolved once I was able to reach someone, but beware of their scheduling and billing departments if you do chose this office.

These people destroyed my childhood and over-medicated me. I am still dealing with it 10 years later. They must have prescribed me between and 8-10 different medications (not all at once) over a one year period when I wast 12-13.

The good - my counselor was wonderful. Otherwise, not much good to report. Setting an appointment was very difficult (effected only through e-mail and/or text). Insurance claims were not filed correctly. To follow-up on the claims, I was provided the number to their billing agent (who does not appear to be a EFC employee). Phone calls were not returned, but a response to an e-mail stated that these would be re-filed (I saw no evidence that they were). The result was paying $$$ for sessions that should not have required patient payment.

I have had nothing but the best time at Evelyn Frye. My therapist is wonderful. Scheduling always goes smoothly if you schedule in advance. I have never been double booked, payments for my services has always been easy. Take some of these reviews with a grain of salt!

As others have said, my therapist was fantastic. The office and scheduling staff were not only incompetent but rude and unkind- especially considering the patients are there for mental health reasons. After being given the run around on trying to schedule an appointment for weeks (as an already established patient) the scheduler mocked me when I said that if scheduling was always going to be this stressful, I would stop coming.

I was doing treatment for anxiety so this cruelty was especially hurtful. She also wouldn't take any responsibility for her actions such as double booking me, offering me incorrect appointment times, and failing to return multiple calls and messages. Her excuse was always that she works remotely so she doesn't have up to date information. I also work in scheduling and I also work from home.

Her attitude and issues would not be tolerated anywhere else. If you're considering therapy, do not go here. While the therapists may be fantastic, it's truly not worth the hassle and you may only get to see the therapist once a month at most because of the scheduling issues.

No one answers the phone. I've been calling for a week. I guess I should've looked here first. Off to look elsewhere. Anxiety and depression are not helped when you can't even get someone on the phone to schedule an appointment!

I used to like this place as I've been here for almost 18 mos. But I just had my appointment cancelled without my knowledge for the second time. I have had issues getting in touch with someone to contact my pharmacy about medications, etc. Pushing someone's therapy 3 months is truly unacceptable when someone is struggling with mental health issues. I have had good experiences with the providers but horrific experience with the office. If you don't need regular visits, this may work for you.

I waited 7 weeks for my appointment & the nurse practitioner with an English accent refused to write my prescription that I have been on for 20 years. She wanted to give me something for diabetic nerve pain that I can get from any walk in clinic & charged me $150.00. I got my money back & will never returned. I wouldn't send my enemy to that joke of an offline. NEGATIVE STARS!

The care provider I see is great- I have no issue with her whatsoever. Whoever is running this business overworks their providers, which doesn't sit well with me. Always feel bad for them. Anyways, this place is great- if you like calling 30 times over the course of two weeks for a simple request. Only to get called back by someone who acts like they are doing you a huge favor by helping you sort out a simple issue. Also, be careful of them trying to charge you for missed appointments.

I have literally never missed a medical appointment in my life. Evelyn Frye center has tried to charge me for 2-3 missed appointments to the tune of ~$200. If you do make it to your appointment, bring a book or your phone charger. You will be waiting for at least an hour.

I came to Yelp after visiting the Evelyn Frye Center because when i met with Michelle there she was of no help. I showed up for my appointment 15 mins early had already filled paperwork. The receptionist was on the phone talking with another patient about their meds she relayed all this personal information about this patient with me standing right there.

When she was finally off the phone she assumed i was another patient and started relaying their information to me. When she finally figured out who i was she took my paperwork. At 3:20 i confirmed that i had a 3:00 and not a 3:30. She said it was a 3:00 i told her that i had a 4:30 appointment i couldn't miss. The counselor came out and we went back to her office the entire 20 mins i talked with her i got the feeling that I was interrupting her day. We decided that we didn't need to meet again. Hence me being on Yelp trying to find a therapist.

This place is a joke. Charging to call in an Rx that never even gets called in? Out of meds and they don't reply to any of my VM's. Luckily, my PCP called it in for me out of the kindness of his heart. Bye bye, Frye!

I have called 2 times and even sent an email asking to be set up with a counselor. What is supposed to happen is that you call, talk with a triage team, and get set up with a counselor that best meets your needs. Twice I have gotten their "after hours" service even though I have called between the 8-5 time frame listed on their website. Leaving a message with the calling service means nothing.

No response whatsoever. So, I've moved on. Based on more recent reviews, that seems par for the course. Disappointing because I was referred here from my PCP and others. So, I have found another provider. Thanks for nothing, EFrye.

Really not a good experience. Office staff made an error, which I could show proof of. They refused to refund my missed appointment fee, even though the error was theirs. I ended up losing my therapist because I felt they could no longer be trusted.

I have personally never had so many problems from any organization I have ever dealt with. This place goes from bad to good to worse with office staff. I had a young lady help me over the phone a few months ago. I am guessing she is gone now because I am getting no help and the phone is now going unanswered. I am trying to retrieve information requested by MEPS so that I can join the military in which case this is time sensitive. Learn from my mistake and never deal with this company.

My close friend, who is a nurse, worked there once. She shared horror stories with me about Dr. Frye & other employees. She didn't work there long & says she understands why there is a high staff turnover. She worked there for a year & saw tons of folks resign, due to Dr. Frye's attitude & ego. A co-worker of mine went there recently for marriage counseling because his company's insurance referred him there.

He said he & his wife left laughing the first time, feeling the practice was so disorganized & therapist was young & inexperienced. He says this actually helped them! Beware. Do what I did, which was ask my personal physician for a referral. There are great mental health providers in Nashville, but not here!

The only reason I am giving this group two stars is because my therapist is a very helpful person. Other than that, I don't have a lot of nice things to say. The center goes through psychiatrists and secretaries faster than most people go through underwear. I had to cancel and reschedule several appointments, but never received confirmation about the cancellation because no one picked up the phone.

When trying to get a credit on my account for an appointment I missed due to illness, but was charged for, I could never get a hold of the person who was supposed to give me my money back! The only reason I haven't found another mental health provider is because I genuinely like my therapist, and the Frye Center is within my insurance network.

The Evelyn Frye Center has the worst customer service/scheduling I've ever seen in a business. I was referred by my doctor to see a psychiatrist and they schedule me to see a therapist the first visit. So then I get rescheduled to actually see a psychiatrist about 4 weeks later. Show up to my appointment on time and they state the person cannot see me because he is booked up already.

I decided to give them one more chance, so we schedule another appointment 4 weeks later again. What do you know, the exact same thing happen AGAIN. Each visit I had to cancel work and drive over 2 hours both ways in traffic. Obviously they're fired and I'll be telling my doctor never to refer them. Try calling this place and you'll never get anyone to pick up the phone.

I have been a patient of the Evelyn Frye Center for the past seven years. My counseling experience with Dr Frye profoundly changed my life in the most positive way imaginable. When I first visited the Evelyn Frye Center I was suffering from depression, crippling anxiety, and low self-esteem. I had heard about the Evelyn Frye Center from a friend and decided to try one therapy session.

I promised myself if I didn't like it I wouldn't have to go back. The first session was really tough but in a good way. The counselor I met with really listened and wasn't quick to diagnose me or force a cookie cutter style of treatment on me. Instead she worked with me to develop a treatment plan utilizing a variety of styles and resources to find the best fit for me personally.

They also made insurance filing understandable and easy. The caring and competent staff of the EFC utilized the dual approach of counseling/therapy and anti-depressants treatment to help me deal with my depression and anxiety issues. I have the EFC to thank for helping me get through what was the most difficult time in my life. Seven years later I feel better than I have ever felt. While I still struggle sometimes with depression and anxiety I have developed much healthier ways of dealing with those issues. I highly recommend the Evelyn Frye Center.

I've worked in a doctor's office and this girl at the front has to be the most unprofessional person I've ever dealt with in a healthcare setting. She clearly doesn't want to be there and was so rude to me. My appt. was at 1pm and I checked in at 12:55. She said I was supposed to be there an hour before my appt. to fill out paperwork.

I recall them saying to be there early, but not an hour. If they wanted me there at 12, she should of said, come at 12. All doctors offices say to come early to fill out paperwork. I was there before the appt. I asked if I could fill it out during or after the appt. and she said no. She'd have to reschedule. Now I had paid a babysitter and all to be here.

I told her I had a 7 page report of medical history and diagnosis with me which should help the dr. get the info she needed. I asked her if she could please ask the dr. if I could meet with her. She closed the window acting like she went to talk to the dr. and comes back and said she could have me fill out paperwork and be seen at 3. Ok. so I'm going to sit there for 2 hrs when my appt time is NOW.

She said the dr couldn't prescribe medicine for me. I said fine, I just want to meet with her because it's my first visit and I'm not sure if meds are even needed. I just wanted a consultation. She said, very loudly, "well you're here for meds, aren't you?" in a condescending voice for the entire waiting room to here. I wanted to cry she was so nasty to me.

If you have to give unpleasant news, etc. don't be rude. don't have a tone of voice with a patient and try to accommodate. It was a struggle to get there in the first place. I'm appalled at her behavior towards me and will be pursuing this with the office to let them know how rude she was to me. I will never recommend this place to anyone. Awful.

Absolutely the worst billing staff I have ever seen. Please be very cautious about having them bill your insurance. I spent many hours of my time on the phone, trying to get the billing staff AND the office manager to understand my claim. I left multiple voicemails with the office manager. She never once returned my call. I emailed the "contact" through their website and never heard back.

I finally had to call my insurance company and have them get us on 3-way calling. It took another hour of going through each date of service for them to finally understand what was going on. Several months and tears later - the issues were resolved. My favorite therapist left. I can see why. I think it's sad that this particular type of business has added more stress into my life.

I came here for help. I didn't need additional anxiety because of an incompetent and unprofessional office staff. Please think again before choosing this facility. Your health and wellness will not be their first priority.
