Read all reviews before having any surgery with this group. Had cataract surgery in December 2021. Had issues following surgery with both eyes. Was told my vision would improve with up graded lens. Had several post opt visits. Was told it would take time. Seeing double vision at distance. Never had this issue before. You would think the surgeon would want to see you! No, just techs and staff doctors.

I finally changed doctors and had laser on both eyes to help correct. Still having issues. Was told most likely the wrong lens prescription were ordered for the replacement procedure. So now I'm told that glasses are my only answer. What a waste of time and money! Would be nice if you could trust people just to be honest. So be smart, get 2nd opinions, read reviews, and don't get in a hurry. There were other issues with the front desk personnel. A lack of customer service would be an understatement!

This place is run absolutely horrible. I had accompanied my grandma for her 8am appointment. We checked in and sat down. We waited an hour before I went up to the desk to verify that my grandma had checked in properly. The girls up front had a difficult time finding her account with all the information provided, a couple of minutes later, then FINALLY found the account.

They then told me that they were short staffed and that there was a sign that said they were short staffed so wait times would be longer. I told the girl that I understand they are short staffed and I wasn't complaining, I was just verifying that the check in was properly done (on our end) fast forward to another hour later. It is now 10am. I go back up to the desk and speak to the girl on the left.

She tells me that my grandmas appointment was at 10:40am and that's why she keeps getting skipped over. I let the girl know that my grandma has texts and several voicemails confirming her appointment at 8am. I get the phone and show the girl. She becomes confused and then the other girl chimes in. The other girl says "yes, she was scheduled for 8am, I had to move her to the 10:40am slot because we had to make accommodations, we quadruple booked ourselves and we are short staffed, (repeats again) there's a sign that says we are short staffed and wait times are longer" I again told the girl that was now getting an attitude with me that I understand they are short staffed and we have been patient but 2 hours just to be seen for an appointment that takes 2 and a 1/2 hours is insane and because she moves my grandmas appointment to a different time slot she has been getting skipped for 2 straight hours.

I let the girl know that if they know they are short staffed, they should probably be calling appointments to reschedule and reduce the schedule to something they are able to manage. She they told me to contact management about suggestions. At this point I walked away because things weren't getting resolved. I work in healthcare as well, and KNOW AND UNDERSTAND what it's like being short staffed but I also communicate with our clients about wait times and let them know if I need to make "accommodations" or Change their original appointment time because I mistakenly booked 3 other appointments at the same time. This is NOT OKAY.

I went to Eye Centers of Florida to have implantable contact lenses (IPL) several years ago and haven't had any issues since. I was very extremely nearsighted, and I couldn't get Lasik or PRK because my corneas were too thin, and I have an astigmatism. I did my research and found that these fine folks would do IPL. IPL is basically the same procedure they do for cataracts, but they use prescription lenses to correct near or farsightedness.

It was the best thing I'd ever done. It cost me $5000 at the time and it was the best money spent. No more glasses or contacts. Once the drugs wore off and my eyes opened, I could see absolutely perfectly. It was amazing.

I went to Eye Centers with VA referral. I was told I needed catarac surgery and could get regular lenses paid for thru my insurance and VA or I could get lenses that worked at distance and close up. When dr brown did surgery in both eyes the more expensive lens was only put a n one eye and the generic lens in the other with the explanation that the lens pocket was too small.

This was done without my authorization. My sight was foggy and there were palpaitations and glare. I was told this would clear up. After many legnthy and cancelled appointments always resulting in long office waits I was scheduled for laser surgery that would clear my vision. It helped but I still couldnt focus both eyes gad fog and glare. I was prescribed drops which burnt my eyes 2 days the first time used.

I was told i was probably allergic to it and prescribed somethings ng else taken for a month with no change. I was told eyelid surgery was needed and this reulted in that test being performed 3 times over about 6 months with the explanation it had to be done in a limited time before surgery. I was finally told it would be better to have plastic surgery raising both my eyebrows and eyelids.

All the time I was told my poor vision would be addressed. I asked the eyeglass department about getting reading glasses and was told to get a drs prescription next time I came in. This was to be referred out at the same time that my inability to see well was determined as good" as it was going to get". This took17 months. I will tell VA not to use this provider in my opinion. I will request all of my records to see if someone else can correct my vision

I provided my written prescription that staff scanned when I first visited Eye Center of FL on Evans in Ft Myers. It took 3 weeks to get the glasses, the longest I have waited in 50 years of glasses wearing. When I picked the glasses up the staff just handed them to me and said ok, you are all set. Typically glasses need a little adjusting, so I took them from the case and as soon as I put them in I knew there was a problem because I was seeing double.

Staff kept insisting that I just needed to get used to them. I then called the eye dr who provided the prescription who ran me through some tests over the phone and was able to determine that the left lens was basically installed upside down. I returned to EC of FL and explained, the staff then sullenly admitted there was a mistake. I asked if the correction could be expedited, the response was no effort on the staff part, just no, don't think so, probably another 3 weeks. To top it off she then then pulled down her mask to sneeze in her hand and then hand my glasses case back. WOW -

I started going to ECOF for annual exams after we moved to FL. Recently I needed retina reattachment and went in to see Dr. Ferreira. At one week he indicated the first surgery went well but at five weeks the retina was still detached. After the first surgery Dr. Ferreira indicated he wanted me to have cataract surgery first. Apparently, the bubble placed in my eye created a cataract.

After thinking about it over the weekend Dr. Ferreira wanted to try retina reattachment surgery first then do the cataract, and he scheduled me for surgery on 11/24. Dr. Ferreira began on the 24th but indicated he could not see well enough to work on the retina and decided I needed cataract surgery first. On the 25th I went in for post-op and I was told three different stories as to why Dr. Ferreira was out: (1) he was sick, (2) out due to an emergency, and according to Dr. Mauer of the ECOF, they [ECOF] did not know if he would be back.

On Nov 25 I visited with Dr. Mauer who told me that you do not do cataract surgery first, you fix the retina then do cataract surgery. Dr. Mauer referred me to a clinic in Miami. I told him what Dr. Ferreira had said and he disputed it again saying that is not how it is done. Dr. Mauer basically told the nurse to escort me to the lobby. In the lobby I found out that the ECOF would not call in for a referral and left me on my own, blind in my left eye after being told to get in my car and drive to another doctor. I can not recommend this place.

I have the highest praise for ECOf in Ft. Myers. Dr. Mauer did my cataract surgery on both eyes and I am beyond thrilled with the results! He explained the procedure clearly to me and made me feel comfortable. All the staff members were professional and helpful. I will recommend ECOF to my family and friends.

Save your time and go somewhere else. We are new to the area and my kids needed eye exams. The insurance suggested this place. We made appointments. Showed up 15 min early to fill out paperwork and waited an HOUR beyond our appointment time before they actually got us in. This place is dirty. The equipment is old. They are understaffed. THEN they refused to do my son's contact fitting because they were understaffed and didn't have time. Hello, that's what we made the appointment for! We will be finding a different place to get our exams and eyewear.

LIARS AND THIEVES. I called asking the price for an eye exam. I knew exactly what i wanted, what my girlfriend had. Multi Focal Clear Lens Replacement. They requested her birthday to look her up. I did not have this info. So I hung up, questioned my girlfriend, then called back. I gave her full name and birthday so they could look her up. I asked the price of the exam. $99 I was told. OK. I'm in.

When i got there I was charged $99. They eye exam was the quickest and sloppiest eye exam I've ever had. I got a better eye exam at WalMart! The Dr came in and asked if i wanted glasses. Uh, no, I have told you since making the appt that I wanted Multi Focal Clear Lens Replacement. Oh ok he says to his attendant, now it is a medical exam, and i was presented with a $112+ bill as i exited.

I argued with them. YOu quoted me $99. HOw can you change it? Oh you wanted a medical procedure eye exam. I said yes, I told you this when i called in to make the appt. Well, you gotta pay $112 more. wtf. Ok i paid, knowing this place was a rip off. Weeks later I get a bill, for $93. So the $99 eye exam is now $309. I have called billing, they laugh when i say i am not paying.

I have called corporate and they take my info but don't return the calls. This place is a huge rip off, worst eye exam, plus i left with not a scrap of paper with what my eye exam showed. All other eye exam places give you the results as you leave. I made them send it to me by email. Basically it just showed the $99 being crossed out and changed to $309. Stay away from these fraudulent people. Shysters. Eye Center of Florida are LIARS AND THIEVES.

Had an appointment to be evaluated for cataract surgery. Told them I was really concerned about the corona virus and asked what precautions were in place. I was told my temperature would be taken before being allowed to enter the building and that they would require patients to be wearing masks in the facility. When I arrived for my appointment however, there was a blatant disregard for social distancing or mask protocols in the office.

There was a masked employee taking temps at the front door, but inside the building was a totally different scene. There were at least 15 patients in the waiting room and about half were not wearing masks. Even more disconcerting was that most of the staff was not masked. I turned right around and asked the person taking temperatures at the door about this he just said "sorry, since the state is not mandating masks, we can't force employees or patients to wear masks". It's interesting that a medical practice is not concerned enough to mandate even their own employees wear a mask, but the local Costco can and does.

Not to mention that the Costco won't let customers into the facility who will not wear a mask. How do I trust my surgical care to a practice that will not protect their own employees or their patients from something as serious as the corona virus. just because they were not mandated to by the state.

This is the worst eye care I've ever had. I came here from a recommendation and I waited over 2 hrs to see a doctor. Then I hurt my eye and came in and waited 2 hrs, ihad to come back for a follow up. I've been waiting over an hr. How busy can it be when your appointment is at 9:30 AM. The staff and doctors are nice but the lack of professionalism and patient courtesy is horrific. Run from this place NEVER come here unless you have time to waste. If I could leave no stars I would. AWFUL!

I've been trying to get a hold of the one lady that orders contacts because theirs only one person who can order contacts. She doesn't answer the phone and when you leave a voicemail she doesn't return your calls. Instead they sent me a postcard it's time for a new eye exam. No thank you! Worst customer service ever!

Great experience! You walk in and it's giant. I was tested by one of the techs then the doctor came in. They both were very friendly. I also purchased my glasses here. I have VSP and it covered my glasses it just was a $25 copay. Some people I could hear complaining about the price but I would disagree. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because the person helping get the glasses waited a good 20-25 minutes

Money money money! First thing, the receptionist says I'm not on the schedule. I show her the THREE text messages confirming my appointment and she says they had my DOB wrong in the system. Then, after an hour, got in the the back for the exam and first thing I'm told it's $150 for a contact fitting fee! I've been wearing contacts for 20 years and have never paid a fitting fee!

I didn't even get a chance to meet the doctor before they start asking for money. Don't waist your time with this place it's like a cattle drive. Got a refund for my copay and I'm taking my business elsewhere.

I go in and get exam and told that I needed to have cataract surgery My insurance approved the surgery on Feb 19 2019. I called the office several times and did not get a return call. Then they tell me the lens that actually works is $2,400.00 extra per eye. They are the highest in Fort Myers on the lens they use. They are $1,800.00 higher than the next highest in town.

The office is overrun with people and no one knows what is going on with you. They were not helpful or friendly. I know that Dr Brown was a pioneer in the development of this surgery. After reading the reviews I see a lot of people are not satisfied with Eye centers. I will not put my sight in someone's hands that has so many negative ratings. If they make a mistake it is me who will end up blind.

By far an excellent facility. Everyone was kind and truly cared about quality service. I got the best glasses prescription ever, the tech did a great job. When I ordered my glasses, the personal care I received was top notch. Best experience I've had since moving to Florida. Highly recommend!

After visiting The Eye Centers of Florida, I do not want to go anywhere else for my eyes! The entire staff was extremely friendly, the optometry team was very knowledgeable, and the retail team was great about providing style recommendations, as well as, fitting me with the best pair of glasses!

After visiting the Clewiston office I will NEVER go the Eye Centers again. The office staff was rude and Brittany the lady that fits your glasses sat a hollered to the reception staff about a customer they were upset with the entire time. I should have said something but I did not want the backlash I just wanted to see. After calling and checking on my glasses they were very rude on the phone and hung up on me.

I called my insurance to complain because I had already paid 471.00 for my glasses but did not want to give them my business I was told by the insurance I was overcharged on my lenses. Now I'm not talking pennies im talking 221.00 for what the insurance said was a $45 item. Beware of the staff as they will talk about you in front of the other customers. Very unprofessional.

Do not waste your time or money. If I could give a negative number it would be-5. Two separate years I have gone to this location. Both times I've had to wait hours to see the doctor and that's when I have an appointment. Evidently my time is worth nothing. When it comes to the Eye Center to make your glasses they never get the prescription right.

I went back twice the first year to get it corrected. Twice again the second year to try to get it corrected. I now have a two pair of glasses that are worthless and I cannot use. Find another place to go to have your eyes checked and have your glasses made. This is a production center and they do not care about the patients time or how much of your money is wasted on their incompetence.

My son was sent there for blurry vision, dr brown did an exam and told him nothing was wrong with his eyes! A total of 3 tests were done with little or no communication, and after two hours was told he could leave and a dr would call him within two day! Totally unacceptable, coming from Boston I found this office to be slow, very unfriendly staff, and why would his eye dr tell him it was vert important to get in there in such a hurry if nothing was wrong with his eyes?

Will not return there nor recommend to anyone, waste of time and money! Update! A week later after three techs telling him the dr would call him, no one from Dr Browns office has called him, however after telling him nothing was wrong with his eyes, a separate Dr has called and stated he should be seen immediately! I am in the process of reporting Dr Brown and want a full refund! DO NOT GO HERE

I went there to get new glasses. I was a first time customer. I told the lady doing my eyeglass order "I ONLY WANT WHAT IS COVER BY DAVIS VISION". I paid my co-pay and left. A couple days later I get a bill for $20. I called them right away. I was told the charge was for scratch resistant I told them I don't want it. I wrote on my bill I don't want it.

I continue to get billed. That was my first and last visit to them. You see the Optometrist for 15 minutes. The rest of the Exam is done by other employees. I got the impression one didn't quite know what she was doing. I will use Wal mart next time. I used them in PA and am now sorry I switched.
