Eye Sight Hawaii

After three years, finally made an appointment to have eye's checked. (6/28/2022) I have seen Dr. Dash previously and purchased multiple pairs of glasses and contacts from Eyesight Hawaii. Dr. Dash was fine and I was pleased with the excellent service by staff. This poor review is due to one reason : after making an appointment (the earliest time being 3 weeks out) I received multiple e mails, texts, and phone calls reminding me about the appointment.

All good, except never once was I informed about a mandatory mask wearing policy for patients. At the counter written in large bold type was what was required for entry - picture ID, medical insurance card, and VACCINATION PASSPORT. The first thing she did was take my temperature. Next I was asked do I have a mask, when the person who asked me this question was not wearing one.

When questioned I was told no mask no service. I had planned to purchase four pairs of glasses and a full year of contacts. Not now. I won't be back. Suggest if you want to play Batman and virtue signaling with mandatory mask wearing that this be disclosed to customers in advance when making the appointment and also for all of the e mail, text, and phone call reminders.

The doctors here like Dr. Dash are AMAZING! I never had an eye doctor take the time to explain what all those eye tests are for, they usually just cart you off from one to the next. Very impressed with the level of attention and care.

Ok so this review is hard for me to write because on one hand, the staff here was very nice and everything went well at first. I scheduled a consultation for surgery to see if I was a good candidate for Lasik/PRK, etc. I showed up for my appointment and the staff follows fairly good Covid-19 protocols. I was examined by Dr. Kristin Hirabayashi, who put a trial contact lens in my eye which resulted in me having to return two days later to have it taken out because it was very painful with PINK EYE.

There isn't a sink in the exam room and I did not see Dr. Hirabayashi wash her hands or wear gloves before touching my eye. Either her hands were infected or the lens was. Either way, when I returned to the office, Tanalyn first tried to remove the contact and it wouldn't come out. She immediately notified Dr. Dash. After several tests and lots of eye lubricant, Dr. Dash finally removed the contact and told me it's rare to develop an infection when I was prescribed and using a very strong antibiotic eye drop.

He told me to return the next day and the next business day also. I had a work emergency and missed the next day appointment. Before I had a chance to call them, I had a voicemail (when I specifically didn't authorize voice calls) and email from Eric that I perceived as somewhat condescending, as he stated he was contacting me about the appointment "that you missed". Um yes, I'm aware I missed the first of two follow-on appointments THAT WERE DIRECTLY CAUSED BY YOUR OFFICE's NEGLIGENCE. Had Dr. Hirabayashi practiced more stringent sanitary protocols when touching my eye, those additional appointments wouldn't have been necessary! Needless to say, I cannot recommend Eyesight Hawaii for any eye care because now I do not trust them to pay attention to patient safety and sanitation. The least they could do is refund me the $50 I had to spend on the antibiotic eye drops for this whole disaster.

What could have been a simple, routine procedure has been complicated by CoVid over policies. Primary PRK surgeon Dr. Olkowski only does operations on Thursdays on Oahu and even if you're vaccinated, they require you to get tested in their lab two days before. He also does operations on Maui, and there's another lady you meet with that advertises NuLids.

I first considered PRK on the mainland about 10 years ago and have been told by others that have had success that they may have to get lasered again because of deteriorating eyesight. I just feel safer using lenses when I'm active and glasses/tinted shades when I'm outdoors and need to drive somewhere. It comes down to location and commitment to a schedule, something that city workers and the residents they affect don't have control over.

So went there and got eyes checked and bought a set of glasses for wifey and myself. Dr. Michael Dash and team provided excellent service from exam and purchasing eyewear. They practice great Covid policy. Highly recommend

Dr Hirabashi is outstanding. Tannalyn the nurse is so gentle and kind! They have a terrific staff and fantastic service.

Best experience! I have had poor vision since I was in elementary school, and now that I'm 23 it has just gotten worse. I was unable to wear contacts due to severe dry eye. Dr. Olkowski originally put plugs into the drainage holes in my eyes so that I could conserve tears, but that wasn't enough. I'm currently on Restasis, and plan to be on it for the rest of my life. Lasik eye surgery seemed too expensive until I met with Dr. Olkowski and he completely changed my mind.

His office quoted me at $3900 because I have HMSA, which equates to about 4 years worth of contacts and glasses that I would've had to purchase. They scheduled me for 2 weeks after my consultation, and I will admit that I was scared coming in to have the PRK. I did not have enough cornea layers to accommodate lasik. The surgery took 5min and Dr. Olkowski and his surgical nurse kept me calm and collected during the entire experience.

My eyes hurt for the first 4 days after surgery, and my vision was blurry for about 10 days. It has been about 3 weeks since I had the surgery and I feel amazing. My sight has never been this good, nor has my dry eye. 1 week after surgery the doctor found that my vision was 20/25 and 20/30, but I have a feeling that I'm even closer to being 20/20 in both eyes.

Very up to date and well trained medical support staff, high tech diagnostic equipment, thoroughly professional ophthalmologists. And competitive pricing for services. Best eye care facility in Hawaii.

Got my 20/20 vision in 2020! Dr. Olkowski and his team is amazing and knowledgeable. It can be pretty freaky to get your eyeballs worked on while being awake, but this team will make you feel comfortable! My only tip is to go straight home and nap after getting the surgery done. I tried to get lunch and my eyes were not too thrilled about it.

Definitely a 5+ star review. Thank you Dr. Olkowski and his team at EyeSight Hawaii for doing my LASIK surgery on both eyes at the same time. Happy I can finally see without needing glasses anymore. No pain at all after the surgery.

I've been to EyeSight Hawaii three times, and I've had great experiences each time. In my most recent visit, I was able to get an appointment the very next day. I was relieved because my eye was in incredible pain. The COVID 19 protocol was great. I was greeted outside of the door, checked in, and asked to sit at a folding chair that was across the hall from the entrance.

There was another man sitting there, and when he was called in, a staff member came out and sprayed his chair with Lysol. That made me feel a lot better about sitting in their chairs. When it was my turn, a staff member came out and took my temperature, then directed me to their waiting area. I waited a few minutes before I was called to an exam room, where another staff member took some initial information, and waited a few more minutes to see the ophthalmologist. Dr. Hirabayashi is amazing!

She looked at my eye and gave me a diagnosis, then prescribed an antibiotic. She gave me very clear instruction and was super friendly. I'm recommending EyeSight Hawaii and Dr. Hirabayashi to all of my family and friends.

I recently moved back home to Hawaii after 38 years in CA where I had an amazing ophthalmologist. I was concerned that I wouldn't be able to find a terrific doctor for my multiple eye issues. I was referred to Dr. Olkowski. Fortunately, both doctors who examined me at EyeSight Hawaii were very thorough and courteous, listened to me and respected me; did not dismiss my concerns; explained things.

I feel like Dr. O really cares about my various conditions and will find a way to help me. He has an excellent "bedside manner" so often lacking these days. He spent lots of time with me, getting to know my chart and my issues. I am confident that this is the beginning of a great team relationship to help solve my multiple eye issues. The office was beautifully appointed, up to date equipment and very clean. Staff, both on the phone and in person were courteous and competent.

I appreciated that I could see them clean/sterilize the equipment that was going to be used on me. That's important in this day and age. I also appreciate the free parking and proximity to Costco, Home Depot and Best Buy.you can get a lot done in one trip into Honolulu!

Tried to call their number but they are not accepting new patients because of covid 19.

Appreciate the covid 19 protocol procedure. It helped me feel safe. The appointment went smoothly. Follow up call for future appointment was great.

I've never had such a thorough eye appointment and I've visited 2 optometrist before. They're staff are very informative and friendly.

I picked EyeSight Hawaii to have laser eye surgery done. What sealed the deal for me was the great customer service, I could really feel they cared about providing a great experience. I love the office layout and atmosphere and the staff is wonderful. In fact, I love EyeSight Hawaii so much that when I had a change in insurance company and plan, I made sure I stuck with them.

Tried checking in, but it didn't work, the address showed different. I like coming here, the staff are so nice and helpful and always cheerful. Dr Olkowski is awesome and he is always attentive.

Love everyone at EyeSight Hawaii! I always feel valued and in great care at EyeSight Hawaii. Dr. Olkowski is the best in curing my eye problems and communicating with me explaining all my medical problems and solutions available to cure my eyes. No other doctor has done that for me and I have seen many eye doctors over the years. I trust Dr. Olkowski with my overall eye health. The expertise and technology are superb at EyeSight Hawaii. The advanced medical treatments and medical skills that are provided to cure your eyes are amazing.

September 20, 2018 Well; I can't say enough great things about Dr. Olkowski and his entire team at EyeSight Hawaii. I started seeing Dr. Olkowski a few years ago after another clinic made substantial mistake. I ended up with Dr. Olkowski who did the corrective Cataract Surgery and a couple PRKs to make things perfect. The entire staff is outstanding; from the time you walk in the door until you leave.

I recently was scheduled for surgery on the mainland for something else; but developed a painful eyelid that I feared may cancel my surgery. I called Eyesight Hawaii and they took me right; even as a walk-in I hardly waited at all. Dr. Olkowski quickly diagnosed the problem and did the procedure to drain my entire eyelid and a Rx for Antibiotic eye drops and away I went.

I was able to have the surgery on the mainland and can't thank Eyesight Hawaii enough. You don't need to shop around; just go there. They're the best in Hawaii! Well; I can't say enough good things about EyeSight Hawaii, Dr. Olkowski and his entire staff. From the front door where the Administrative staff and Reception, to the Optometrist Mike and the Techs.

From the moment you walk in you'll know you're in the right place. My story. Well I had a Mishap at another Ophthalmologist where a miscommunication resulted in an error and my eyesight ended up exactly opposite of what I went there for. Luckily I ran into a neighbor who had just had Eye Surgery with Dr. Olkowski and EyeSight Hawaii; then I remembered I had met him years earlier.

I called and explained my situation, they took me in that day. Dr. Olkowski did the exam and explained what needed to be done and scheduled me for Surgery. Once you've been seen by EyeSight Hawaii; you're part of the family. Dr. Olkowski did the Lens exchange in my eye and evened out my Vision with PRK Laser with my other eye. I couldn't believe how good I could see that day.

My vision for Surfing and Outdoor sports is unbelievable. The Mountains 10 miles away are Post Card perfect. I also do Long Range shooting and have been consistently making shots from 500 to 800 yards on a 12 disc. One Long Range class resulted in 2 hits at 950 Yards. What more could you ask for. Don't shop; just go.

Top Notch service! I couldn't be more thankful for EyeSight Hawaii! I was in a pinch, I left all my contacts at home and needed them to surf! I called them and they had a few options for me. They were all very friendly and truly helped me out. I was able to still have an amazing trip in Honolulu! Ps. Shout out to Eric! "Air Optix night&day!"

Eyesight Hawaii is the go to place for your eye care. Clean rooms with updated equipment. The staff is friendly and professional. Dr. Olkowski is very knowledgeable, I wouldn't trust my aging eyes to anyone else. Great job, Team Eyesight Hawaii.

I am a physician who presented to Dr. John Olkowski with a difficult and challenging problem. In the 1980s I underwent Radial Keratotomy for myopia(nearsightedness) and had a very good result. Over the ensuing years however, I developed slowly progressive hyperopia (farsightedness) due to progressive flattening of the corneas. Unfortunately, this resulted once again in complete dependence on lenses.

I consulted Dr. Olkowski because of his expertise as a corneal-refractive and cataract surgeon. He pondered my case and outlined a 2 step plan involving collagen cross linking followed by Refractive Lens Exchange (i.e. cataract surgery). The results exceeded all my expectations. I am once again lens-free except for very small print. The newly implanted Crystalenses have also made my vision brighter with improved color enhancement and better vision at night.

This is remarkable because any cataracts that I may have had were only in the very early stages. I couldn't be more pleased! When I told Dr. Olkowski that I was going to post a review on social media, I jokingly told him I hope he doesn't end up with all the tough cases like me. His reply." I love challenges." I must also mention that Dr. Dash and the office and clinical support staff at Eyesight Hawaii. were superb, always friendly, helpful and professional.

Dr. Dash and Dr. Olkowski are very friendly and knowledgeable. It's fascinating how welcoming and warm the front desk reception is. You immediately feel like valued patient when you enter the office.

Everyone was literally friendly and helpful, from the moment I checked in to checking out. Dr Dash is one of a kind, very humble, and very charismatic. I can see why he loves his job because he likes to care of us. He is easy to talk to and listens to you. The Billing was easy to understand, exceptional and outstanding work the Billing department. By far, one of the best services I ever received. Thank you Eyesight for making this memorable experience for me.

Every time I come in here every single one of the workers are so nice! They all know you by name & help you as soon as you walk through the doors I got my lasik eye surgery here a year ago & just came back for my 1 year check up. My eyes before were -7+ & now I have a perfect 20/20 vision! They really know what they're doing here. They're so kind & professional I wouldn't recommend any other place!

From setting the first appointment, to having the surgery, to being outfitted with my new Maui Jim's, and finally the follow up appointments, this was a fantastic experience. If you are having trouble deciding between your options in Hawaii, look no further because this is where you want to go. Looking at a discount option elsewhere? Dont! We are talking about your eyes.

Your sense of vision. Don't go cheap on that. It was a fresh breathe of air to see that every single person I talked with truly enjoys their job with EyeSight Hawaii. They are all incredibly professional while also being the down to earth personality we all enjoy in Hawaii. My vision is perfect less than 2 weeks after my surgery. I can't express how nice it is to not have to deal with glasses and contact anymore.

Katie Friedman fitted me with the best glasses I have ever had. They are so comfortable and stylish and have improved my vision tremendously. When I became farsighted along with my lifelong nearsightedness, my bi-focal glasses did not correct my vision as well, and never fit comfortably. Katie's knowledge of the multi-dimensional aspects of vision correction using state-of-the-art computerized technology combined with her unique fashion sense in carrying the newest contemporary frames made my glass fitting experience a pleasure. I have received many compliments on my new, beautiful eyeglasses. Thank you Katie!

The staff at Eyesight Hawaii excels in customer service and is very knowledgeable on their products. After running out of ideas for Christmas presents for my daughter, I thought it would be such a great idea to get her some new frames. I had never been in the office, but had heard great things about it, through one of the staff members, who often comes into our office.

Their office is very easy to find and with lots of parking available, I was able to make it into the office. The entire staff was so helpful in helping my daughter and me pick out very nice frames. They were able to have them fitted and convinced her to try a different and new type of frame, which she was not used to, and she ended up loving their suggestion. They have a wide selection and I was able to pick out very cute frames for my daughter and I was very satisfied with the great service I received.
