Dr. Lacey is one of the best doctors I've ever had. He's very down-to-earth and thorough when explaining things. The PA's are wonderful. Everyone in the office are well organized and treat the patients well. However, Sandy, who works in the office, is very uncaring. I've dealt with her on a couple of occasions. I found her to be very rude and condescending.

She has an attitude problem. When patients call up or come into the office usually it's because they're in pain. Sandy has no empathy whatsoever for the patients. She has no respect for them.

Great people work at this location. Everyone is happy and very helpful! I can't imagine going anywhere else for orthopedic work. Looking forward to my knees after surgery leading me comfortably into my 80's! Fingers crossed! Thank you Dr. Ira Evans and PA Matt!

The staff at check in were so nice and friendly. There was a tall man working and talking with an elderly lady in a wheelchair. He was incredibly nice to here.asking if she was warm enough, needed a drink of water or anything, wheeled her in front of the tv to be comfortable. He went above and beyond what I would expect at a doctors office. And they 2 other woman were also very sweet. I truly appreciated all of them.

Love Dr Spang. He is always very attentive, caring and compassionate. Great bedside manners. Always explains every detail and answered all my questions. He took the time make sure I was at ease before my operation and came to visit me after hours on his way home. Would definitely recommend him

Dr Schwartz is very direct and thorough. He was sensitive to my hip issues when I couldn't find anyone else to listen. He is always prompt with the appointments and his staff is excellent as well. I would recommend him and his assistant to all.

I found Dr. Lacy to be very warm, knowledgeable, patient and thorough. He took time to explain exactly what my injury was and actually drew pictures to better help me understand the inner workings of my knee. Although he is a surgeon, there was barely any suggestion that I should have surgery. He encouraged me to continue with PT as it was showing obvious improvements. I will see him in 6 months, or sooner if I feel it's necessary.

My experience with Dr. Schwartz, the PA's, physical therapists and staff has been excellent. I have been rehabbing from a knee replacement in October of 2021, and have spent a lot of time with these healthcare professionals. My opinion is that they are skilled, caring and always willing to help. They have encouraged me along the way, and have contributed to a successful outcome.

Just had my 2nd hip replacement done at Beverly hospital by Dr Benjamin Schwartz. I can't express how grateful I am with the staff at Sports Medicine North and Beverly hospital. The care I received was excellent and I am very thankful to have been able to get this hip surgery done during these tough times. I am now at 2 weeks, walking 2 plus miles a day and doing all the exercises they told me to do and only getting better every day. The few people I know and myself highly recommend Dr Schwartz.

The office is very professional and very punctual. Dr. Lacey and his Assistant were both beyond professional. Their bed side manner was exceptionally good. Dr. Lacey explained everything regarding my hip, so I would fully understand. He answered all my questions and concerns. I felt very comfortable, I really can't say enough about my whole experience. I will say the DOCTOR made me feel, like he was not rushing me, as other DOCTOR's have in the past. I highly recommend DR. LACEY and SPORTS MEDICINE NORTH to all.

The first thing I noticed walking in was how busy the practice was. There were many patients not only in the waiting room, but in the X-ray room waiting area. So clearly it's a very large practice. That said, every office staff I encountered made me feel like I was the only one there. They were all very lovely, kind, and patient not only to me, but other patients and to their team members.

It was refreshing and I was glad to see that even with the volume of patients, they seemed calm amidst the chaos! The staff member who called me in, the X-ray tech, and those not attending to me were all cordial and helpful. Everyone seemed totally at ease. The PA who evaluated me before the doc was amazing. Thorough, compassionate, easy, knowledgeable, and clearly listened.

He set out a tentative plan of action, which was then followed up by the doc. Honestly, had the PA been the only one to see me, I would have felt totally comfortable with the result and action, but then Dr. Spang entered. He was personable, easy to talk to, knowable, and solidified the action going forward. He even took time to talk with me and have a conversation before the exam. Nothing was rushed, which was truly amazing to me given the volume of patients. And, I'm feeling good and comfortable with the action plan. Highly recommend!

Doctor patient care has been great. HOWEVER, dealing with the front office for either appointments or getting medical records is so stressful. No friendliness or willing to help. Rude Rude Rude. try getting your medical records and the online isn't working. 3 calls and still no help. Unbelievable. Then given another telephone number to call a separate company for my records.

Health Mark Group to then ask for them to help in getting my medical records. I am in total shock that it took almost 2 hours to just get the process moving. I would recommend training the front office staff on friendliness and better customer service. Patients shouldn't have to stress over paperwork when they are already dealing with an injury.

Saw Dr Prokopis for my hand. He's condescending and rude. My young son was with me on one visit and said something when we left about his rudeness as well. This felt more like a cold business and not a healthcare office both in Newburyport and Peabody. Peabody was even worse with a line of patients a mile long waiting to check in. I felt terrible for the older patients with walkers clearly in pain and tired having to stand 20 minutes simply to check in. Disgraceful.

When it was time to do x-rays they were going to x-ray the wrong finger with an old injury and not the new injury I was seeing him for. Further my pain is not due to a break, what's an x-ray going to show? There's no additional breaks? An MRI should have been done. Didn't really feel he cared about my hand or me getting better. X-ray the wrong finger was plain negligent.

His sarcastic condescending demeanor not becoming. Why be in healthcare if you don't want to help people? I'm still in some pain months later, but looking for another doctor. I can manage until then. I can't imagine if I was someone with major issues and stuck with him.

New to the area, needed to get established with a new orthopedic practice due to 2 "replacement level" knees. Had appt. with Dr. O'Flynn and his PA on October 5, 2018. Liked Dr. O'Flynn, and his PA was very thorough. Was supposed to be getting pre-authorization through my insurance for gel injections of both knees, which I was told would take 2-3 weeks.

That time came and went, and didn't hear anything from the office. Called to inquire, and was told I needed to talk to "Laurel", who schedules those procedures. Called and got her voice mail, but didn't receive a call back. Then, received a call from someone named "Tina", who said she was given my message, that she couldn't find any paperwork related to me, and openly admitted "I don't know what's going on with you".

She stated I needed to talk to Laurel, and she gave me Laurel phone number, and transferred me to Laurel's phone, which proceeded to ring off the hook with no answer. So, I had my wife call Laurel's number and she got her voice mail and left a message to call to provide a status report of my situation. Needless to say, by this time I was very unhappy.

I have 2 knees that have gotten to the point where I can only walk short distances with great difficulty, and can't afford to be subject to a medical office I can't depend on to keep me mobile until I decide to have both knees replaced. Dr. O'Flynn and his associates at SMN may be good physicians, but a physician is only as good as his/her staff, and from my point of view, the office and support staff at SMN in Newburyport, MA, is noting less than poor.

I would not recommend this office to anyone needing orthopedic services. I have already made an appointment elsewhere, as these people have had their chance with me, have not impressed, and don't deserve my business. Health care can be slow and expensive. Go someplace where you think you will be more than just a number (I wasn't even that, apparently) and get the care you need in a timely fashion. SMN in Newburyport is NOT that place.

Dr Mattheos and the NP Marissa were great on my initial visit But the followup from the office staff for the insurance referral and updating me is nonexistent. Takes forever to get someone on the phone and it is clearly evident that when you finally get someone they could care less. Not worth dealing with this practice as while the Dr is great the office staff is lousy and nothing will get addressed by them.

I couldn't say enough about this place. I see Dr Fu who makes you feel 100% comfortable all the time. He talks to you like a friend but in a very professional manner. He's definitely found his calling. Everyone else from the x ray techs to the front desk are all friendly and helpful. Couldn't ask for a better office.

FIRST OF ALL. Let me start with expressing my sincere gratitude to Dr. Joseph Evans and to his scheduler Bryanne. I had such horrible pain in my lower back and legs. Dr. Joe Evans treated me kindly from the get go. He is very professional and showed me great compassion and empathy. He is extremely knowledgeable and really cares for the patients he treats.

What a great, down to earth guy and an AWESOME doctor! Also. I must say. Bryanne is absolutely fabulous! She is so sweet and I'm SO impressed with how she handles the massive amount of work she must have. I commend both Dr. Joe Evans and Bryanne for the time they spent in order for me to feel like an actually patient and not just another "number".

But it is sad that with such great physicians and staff. The overall practice is over whelming, disorganized and not patient friendly. I feel the management and/or owners need to take another look at how they run their overall practice. Thank goodness Dr. Joe Evans and Bryanne are so good or I would not have gone to Sports Medicine North.

I continue to meet with Dr Steven Mattheos, the top Orthopedic specialist in the area - my opinion. Been seeing the doc for several years on and off. More recent in Oct 2014, he cleaned up a torn meniscus and arthritis in a knee. With the help of the very skilled physical therapists at ProEx, I had to learn how to walk correctly. Before the procedure in October, I tore the knee during physical fitness - pushing beyond the limits with squads, but supposedly under the direction of a skilled fitness person.

The procedure in October was flawless and successful. Ten months later, the knee is feeling great! Recovery time was about 6-8 months but I was told that by the doctor at the beginning. In any event, Dr Mattheos continues to treat for orthopedic pain in other areas like bursitis, rhomboid pain, etc. The doctor is EXTREMELY knowledgeable in his field and well known in my experience as far north as Manchester, NH and south to Boston, MA.

I can say NOTHING negative about Dr Mattheos. He is prompt, caring, easy to communicate with; simply a complete doctor who I am sure anyone would agree. If you have aches, pains, issues with fractures, anything orthopedic related, come to Sports Medicine North and ask to meet with Dr Steven Mattheos.

If I was basing my review on my diagnosis, I'd be giving Sports Medicine 1 star. But since what happened to me is not their fault, I can't do that. I also can't blame them for the only solution to the problem. But what I can do is tell you about my experience there. I hurt my foot last October. Waited 2 weeks to see my primary and then he sent me on to Sports Medicine.

Since he is in the same building, when the woman called to get me an appointment, I told her :Just for kicks and giggles, see if they have anything today. It was 8:55 and they had a 9AM. (god thing they're in the same building!) I saw Dr Zoric who is so very personable and caring. I had x-rays taken and he told me what had happened. We started with PT (I went to a different place for that).

Once the swelling went down, I had a followup to discuss options. As a last resort, we tried a topical medication. Didn't work but can't blame him for that either. Again, not their fault that the only option is surgery. Dr Zoric is very compassionate and understanding when it comes to affordable care. He referred me to a surgeon in their office.

I haven't seen him yet but will eventually do so. The only reason for the one star deduction is the lady at the front. She always has a look on her face like she's smelling poo. Not sure why she's so displeased but it is the reason for the 1 star drop.
