We Regret that because of the sensitivity of our Patients, Children are NOT allowed in our Clinic. Please make appropriate arrangements for child care if you have an appointment. Infertility & Fertility Preservation Specialist & General Gynecology & Minimally Invasive Surgery located in Monterey, CA.

Edward Ramirez, MD, FACOG, is a board-certified OB/GYN, and infertility and fertility preservation specialist at The Fertility & Gynecology Center - Monterey Bay IVF. At his practice in Monterey, California, Dr. Ramirez is deeply committed to courteous, responsive, and personalized care.
Services
Many of Monterey Bay IVF's patients are helped through basic and advanced infertility treatments. If you and your partner are having difficulty conceiving, then you may want to consider learning more about infertility treatments. One avenue to conception that Dr. Ramirez often begins his couples with is Intrauterine Insemination (IUI), which is sometimes referred to as "artificial insemination."
Infertility is quite often a treatable condition. Statistically, around fifteen percent of all couples are estimated to be infertile, but only up to two percent are completely sterile. The majority of these couples after seeking help can bear a child, either with or without medical assistance. Before any treatment is begun, the patient will meet one-on-one with Dr. Ramirez for an initial consultation.
Assisted reproductive technologies (ART) involve retrieval of one or more eggs to increase the chance of successful conception. We form a cohesive team made up of doctor, nurse, embryologist and patient to work together to decide on which treatment is best, both medically and emotionally. As of 2012, there have been over 5 million babies born from in vitro fertilization (IVF). The very first IVF baby, Louise Brown, was born in England in 1978 due to the genius and scientific abilities of Dr.s Edwards and Steptoe.
Intrauterine insemination (IUI), also sometimes called artificial insemination', involves placement of sperm following separation from seminal fluid into the uterine cavity. An IUI is useful for women who have structural problems, when the cervical mucus is unreceptive, when donor sperm are required, when the male partner's semen contains very low numbers of sperm, or when unexplained infertility exists in both partners.

I just want to say first off, the staff was amazing, they all had great service. Dr. Ramirez was great too! However, what made him stand out from all the other doctors I have seen, was his ability to be direct yet sympathetic towards you. He was very informative and so committed to his work. He gave me a sense of hope, I was able to finally see the light at the end of the tunnel.

I left feeling emotional because I had finally found a doctor who was going to help me start a family. God blessed Dr. Ramirez and his team! In such a time of despair they continue to give hope and I am very thankful.

I have no complaints with this office or Dr. Ramirez. The staff is excellent! Kind, hospitable and very knowledgeable. Dr. Ramirez is excellent! Exactly what you want in a specialty Doctor. Down to earth, not trying to upsell you, and honest. We ultimately decided against IVF but it was nothing to do with them and all to do with us. I would recommend anyone to this place and possibly in the future we will go back.

No children allowed. Because of the gravity of what was to be discussed at this appointment, we thought that this office would have been accommodating toward both decision makers of our family to be present. Unfortunately, this clinic was not. I am the spouse of a patient who was seen there today. When my wife made the appointment, she asked if I would be allowed to come to the appointment too.

The person she spoke to that day said that it would not be a problem. When we arrived at the clinic today, we were greeted by a sign that said, "no children." My wife had asked about me joining her, but did not specifically ask if our daughter could come too (she goes everywhere with us, she's 19 months old). At the front desk, the attendant promptly told us that "with everything going on" they were not allowing children.

When we did not immediately respond to this, she offered to double-check with the doctor. She left the room for a moment, returned, and told us that our daughter could not be there. Then she suggested that I wait out in the car. Perhaps I should have been more of a jerk in the moment, but instead I just walked out with our daughter. Here is my question for whoever makes decisions for this office: what about "everything going on" means that I can attend my wife's appointment, but our 19-month-old daughter cannot?

The rationale given by the front desk attendant was rhetoric and dismissive. Additionally, I was incensed by the nerve to say that I should go wait in the car. I am posting this review because I don't know what my recourse is here for the way we were treated. My wife said the appointment went well and wished I could have been there to hear what the doctor explained and ask questions. Suggestions for the future: Make it clear to patients before they arrive that "with everything going on", their children are not welcome.

If a patient specifically requests to bring their spouse to the appointment, that is probably the best time to do so. Understand you probably help a lot of people with their first child, but apparently you can have patients who already have children.

Dr Ramirez is the BEST! He's been my doctor for over 20 years. He's knowledgeable and addresses any and all concerns I have with my health. He spends quality time with me and I always leave my check-ups and check-ins knowing that I am in good hands. The office team is also INCREDIBLE! Would highly recommend Dr. Ramirez!

I cannot share my experience on the doctor as I have never seen him before. The phone experience was a terrible one. I had a unique and time sensitive situation and my RE on the east coast wanted me seen by an RE here while I was in town in Monterey. I first called and the receptionist disconnected me. When I called back to let her know I'd been disconnected while being transferred to the nurse, she stated that she spoke to the nurse about my situation and they wouldn't be able to help me.

I asked if I could speak to her to explain my situation and she said no. I asked to speak to an office manager and she stated the nurse was the office manager. I asked to speak to the doctor and she said he never takes personal calls. I asked her what she suggest I do and she said "I don't know we are too busy and a small clinic." So on top of not caring to even hear what's going on, the office offered no suggestions or alternative methods for me to be seen by someone.

I work in healthcare also, and it kills me that there are practices who do not care at all about patients seeking help. If this were my practice, I'd be beyond embarrassed at the way the situation played out. If your practice is so small and so busy then maybe you should narrow down your scope or hire more staff.

Dr. Ramirez is very professional and practical with a no-nonsense kind of approach. He doesn't over-promise and sets the right expectations. We trust his judgement and opinion and are repeat patients. The staff at his clinic are also very kind and accommodating. Highly recommend this facility.

We have been a patient of Dr. Ramirez for about nine years. He and his staff are kind, supportive, and dedicated to all of their patients. We have worked with Dr. Ramirez through nearly every phase and type of infertility treatments. all the time, he never gave up hope on us. Their office is very supportive for anyone going through infertility and I would strong encourage anyone struggling with similar concerns work with them.

We couldn't be happier with his care and treatment plans. He also stays current with new fertility treatments and research. His office is pretty much self contained so most services can be done onsite making it easier for patients.

I have been a patient of Dr. Ramirez for about a year now. I see him for a medical issue and will eventually need to see him for a fertility issue. He's been the first doctor to diagnose and actually start me on a path to healing. I can't speak highly of veronica as my few interactions with her were not the best, however she leaves next month and Arianna, Alvera and Dr. Ramirez are fantastic.

I truly do owe them my life and I am afraid to think what might have happened if I had followed the advise of my old doctors and not met Dr. Ramirez. He also is not the cheapest for fertility treatment, but is well within the normal range nationally. He knows his stuff and imho is worth it. I have a life long syndrome and will definitely be continuing my care with Dr. Ramirez.
