Searching the Internet for the information about cancer can lead to competent, well researched data that is helpful and enlightening. Unfortunately, you may also find advice that is questionable, hard to interpret, out of date-or even dangerous. The good news is that there are steps you can take to ensure that the information you gather will be reliable.

I first met Dr. Futoran at the emergency room two days prior to my surgery. His manner and responses to my concerns about the reasons for surgery gave me confidence to proceed. He took time out of his busy schedule to help me based on a call from my gynecologist on that same day! My surgery was on a Sunday which was probably his day off. His skills and years of experience were evident the morning of my surgery prep when I informed him of an unexpected change in my condition.

Right there and then, he adapted his surgical plan to meet my situation. Six days after my surgery, I am feeling so much better. Dr. Futoran is just an awesome surgeon! The best! I also want to thank his residents for all their assurances and explanations. I am so grateful for all of you.

I was sent to Dr. Futoran's office for a 2nd opinion on my biopsy results. I had no choice in my referral because I was on Medicaid after losing my job. I have now had a total of three (3) separate visits/encounters with Dr. Futoran and one with his resident, Dr. Hom. All have left me with an unpleasant taste in my mouth. 1) Initial visit. He LAUGHED when I asked if there were other options besides hysterectomy.

I was as crystal clear as I could be that if at all possible, I wanted desperately to keep my ovaries and not be thrust into menopause at only 46. He assured me that it would only be a Possible oophorectomy. When he brought me into exam room and started discussing surgery. I told him that during my last fibroid surgery they had tried unsuccessfully laparoscopically and ended up having to go through my abdomen and that I wanted to avoid additional excess keloidal scarring from both again.

He looked at his resident and asked "Why couldn't they do it laparoscopically?" She gave a blank stare. He responded chuckling "Because they weren't me." RESIDENT DR HOM In hospital after surgery, she came in and told me removed Everything. When she said ovaries, I broke down sobbing (which was extremely painful) asking why, what did they find?

She said nothing that was just a precaution and then she she callously said " Well you going to go through menopause in another 2 or years anyway". First of all she had no way at all of knowing that for certain. And even if she did, it was another 2 to 3 YEARS.! She made it sound like only months. At least she didn't laugh at me. 2) DR FUTORAN in the hospital when he was making rounds after Dr Hom had already told me, I told Dr Futoran that if he knew he was just going to take everything "as a precaution", then he should have told me that initially and set the right expectations. Said that I was mad at him and devastated to be going through menopause.

He offered no apology, sympathy, nothing. He just laughed and said you can be mad. During his visit, the nurses reported my belly sounds as hypotensive. He LAUGHED and corrected them saying it's either absent, or normal. When he left the room, the nurses said he's a wonderful doctor, but he should never have said that bc that's a diagnosis, which is outside their scope of practice.

To me, regardless even if he felt that way he shouldn't have said it in my presence. That it undermined the nursing staff. 3) Post op visit. When I asked why it hurt so much more after getting home, he again LAUGHED and said bc you're moving more at home. I don't know if it was because of my sex, race, Medicaid status or because he's just another arrogant, cocky surgeon with a God complex who can't be bothered with the actual concerns, fears, feelings of the mere mortals on whom he operates, but I THINK DR FUTORAN IS CONDESCENDING AND DISMISSIVE AND THAT HE GETS OFF ON EMBARRASSING PEOPLE ALL UNDER THE GUISE OF TEACHING/MENTORING Of course it's already scary enough being referred to an Oncologist. But, I actually feel traumatized.

My employer recently changed insurance forcing me to find a new OB/GYN. I went to Aetna's website to search for one and called the first doctor listed, Doctor Futoran. A male answered the phone and I explained that my insurance changed and I needed to find a new OB/GYN and set an appointment for my routine, yearly pap-smear. The male took my information and set an appointment for me within one week.

I arrived to the office 10 minutes prior to my appointment on 09/17/2018, again said I was there for my yearly pap smear. I waited a few minutes then was called back by a nurse. She took my vitals and told me to have a seat across the desk in Doctor Futoran's office. The doctor and a UNLV student aid (? I did not get her name, she is a young, thin, blonde, Caucasian woman.) entered the office, the doctor sat across from me and the student sat next to me.

The doctor asked "so tell me what's going on?" I let him know that I scheduled a routine pap smear and it seems I am not at the right doctor. He told me that he is a cancer doctor however they could perform the pap smear. He then had his student take me to the exam room. She had me undress from the waist down. When she came back in to the room the doctor did not come with her.

She started the pap smear, looked, and said "everything looks fine." She threw the speculum in a regular trash can. I asked when I would receive the results from my visit and she took a q tip, took a sample off of the speculum in the trash can and told me it would be about a week. She did not give me a breast exam which has been normal routine for my pap smears for the past 16 years.

I also have not received results for the tainted test. I've called the office several time asking for answers and my calls are never returned. I have been trying to get in touch with the office for over a week to get answers on why I'm being charged for a "consultation" when my visit was for a routine pap smear, no answer or return calls.

I submitted a complaint with my insurance company and they said I had to have the doctor resubmit the claim. I spoke to "Monica" in Futoran's office on 10/25/18, she stated that she could not assist but would call me back by the end of the day to let me know how to get assistance. She did not give me a return call. I called again on 10/29/18 and spoke to an "Ivana", she said that she would talk to the doctor and call me back by today, 10/30/18 10am.

She did not return the call. I called the office and received the answering machine. The doctor's cell is given on the answering machine recording so I called him, at 702-465-5280, at 11:19am. He answered, I told him who I was and why I was calling and he said "YOU'RE FIRED!" and hung up on me. I should not have to pay for a service that my insurance covers in full (yearly pap smear). I also do not deserve to be treated as such by a health care professional. The acts done by Doctor Futoran and his staff are despicable, disgusting and unacceptable!
