If you have been diagnosed with diabetes, you may be at risk of losing your vision since your body does not utilize sugar properly and, when the sugar levels rise, damage to the retinal blood vessels may occur. This injury to the retinal vessels is known as Diabetic Retinopathy. Diabetic Retinopathy is the leading cause of blindness in working-age adults.
Dr. Cravey received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Science from Texas A&M University in 1988. After graduating from Texas A&M College of Medicine in 1993, Dr. Cravey completed a four year Ophthalmology Residency at Scott & White Hospital and Clinic in Temple, Texas. Dr. Cravey is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.
As we progress into our fifties, the lens of our eye can start to harden due to the clumping together of the proteins in the interior lens. This clumping of proteins turns the lens a brownish color, while causing your vision to become blurry, similar to looking through a foggy window. If this sounds familiar, then you have a cataract.
Once vision loss interferes with everyday activities, such as driving, reading, or watching TV, consideration should be given to surgically removing the cataract. Surgery may seem unnerving but rest assured, Dr. Cravey and the nurses at Kerrville Eye Center will take good care of you, making your experience as comfortable as possible.

Based on all these negative reviews my only conclusion is they're shills, statements by competing physicians. I would trust Dr. Cravey with any kind of eye surgery. His staff are well trained and attentive and waiting times have always been short compared to my other doctors. I've had cataract surgery and been seeing him annually for about 10 years. He's the best the hill country has to offer IMO, and I've been to about 4 from Fredericksburg to San Antonio.

Don't waste your time with this place. They extremely overbook appointment times with 4 to 5 patients all having the same appointment time, and they could care less how long you have to wait. You will see several people come in after you with an appointment that is later than yours but they will be placed in front of you because they are the "Quick Cash".

You will be sitting in an open waiting area shared with another Dr's office and it will be uncomfortably crowded. Just read the rest of the reviews about this practice and you will find out it only get worse once you get into the "smaller waiting room". Until people stand up to this type of Dr's, treating the people that make them wealthy from their oversize medical bills that create their oversize ego, it will continue. You DO NOT have to be treated like this. WALK OUT!

After getting a referral from my primary physician, I made an appointment with Dr Cravey, It was for a date nearly two months away. When I called, the receptionist asked for my insurance info which I supplied including the insurer, group# and my personal member ID # The insurance was accepted and the appointment scheduled. Dr Cravey office sent me a folder with a mountain of forms to fill out and set the appointment date. 2 weeks later I received a call that the doctor needed to reschedule and moved my date up 3 weeks.

When I arrived today I was told that my insurance was for an HMO and NOT ACCEPTED! The excuse offered is they were "Out of network" whatever the hell that means? The receptionist added that I could see the doctor but all services would be cash up front. I asked her why anyone with paid medical insurance would instead pay cash? The receptionist was a blonde, for your info! If I could rate this cluster with no stars that's where it belongs. Thanks for reading. Good luck!

"I went in because I needed a new glasses prescription and for the past few years had not been able to get good vision in one eye. Stephanie convinced me that it was better to NOT check my vision for a new glasses prescription, in case I needed cataract surgery, because the surgery would change my prescription. She dilated my eyes. The Dr. Cravey looked at them and said I was on the border and if I thought I could live with the lesser vision, then I didn't need surgery. UNFORTUNATELY, because Stephanie had already dilated my eyes, she could no longer check my eyes for a new glasses prescription.

I HAD TO TAKE OFF SICK LEAVE TIME (which was hard enough to get from my workplace) FOR ABSOLUTELY NOTING FROM THE VISIT EXCEPT A BILL! EXTREMELY BAD JUDGMENT ON STEPHANIE'S PART. She should have checked my eyes and given me a prescription before rushing into dilating my eyes and calling in the doctor. I WILL NEVER RETURN TO THAT PLACE AGAIN."

I am a retired military pilot and Periodontist. Near perfect visual acuity was most important for both of those professions. About age 50, I started to need reading glasses, then stronger reading glasses. My once perfect vision was now poor. About age 70, my optometrist said I had cataracts in both eyes and I should consider having them fixed. I was referred to Dr Cravey, he completed an eye exam and confirmed that I did indeed have cataracts.

I had surgery on the left eye. The procedure took about 10 minutes. I had no pain, swelling or any side effects. My vision was dramatically better as soon as the eye was no longer dilated. At the 2 day post op, my vision on the left eye was perfect once again. I scheduled the right eye surgery as soon as possible. I am now 2 days post and have 20-20 vision in the right eye as well.

I could not be more pleased with the outcome of the cataract surgeries by Dr Cravey and his very friendly and helpful staff. Dr Cravey is a very personable and caring Doctor and has made a huge improvement in my life. My thanks to Dr Cravey and his most capable staff.

Have nothing but good to say about Dr Cravey and his staff. Had cataract surgery. Was painless and improved vision vision 100% in right eye. Having left eye done next week. Dr Cravey and staff are thorough and professional. Read his 1 rating and had same thing but that is what they are supposed to do. Would you rather sit in office and waste your time and theirs while you filled out paperwork. Paperwork that is necessary and important to insure your safety and wellbeing. Get real. Dr Cravey has a 10 on a 1 to 5 scale in my book. Also would add, I have never waited more than than 10 minutes for my appointments.

New to Kerrville, I made an appointment with Dr. Cravey. I was sent papers in advance and completed them and delivered them personally to his office one month prior to the appointment. However, when I received a "reminder call" of my appointment, I was told I must come in 15 minutes earlier than my appointed time of 3:15. I explained that I had already completed paper work to which she replied that I still must come in at 3:00 just in case there was anything more that they needed. (Incidentally, they didn't need anything more when I arrived.) I make a habit of always arriving on time, or a few minutes early, and therefore, arrived at 2:50.

There were 5 others waiting to be seen. During the next 40 minutes, 5 additional patients came in. Patients were being taken in for exam at a rate of one every 15 minutes, indicating to me that they were overbooked and were very much behind schedule. Knowing that in addition to any further wait time, the examination and testing would probably take at least another hour, I asked the receptionist to cancel my appointment and I left. Impression: poor scheduling practices and lack of consideration for patients' time.
