First Step Foot care was started in 1991 and has provided personalized care and treatment to more than 30,000 patients in the past 28 years. Patients requiring surgical procedures are able to receive care in a hospital based setting by our staff of surgeons who have a combined experience of over 35 years performing thousands of surgeries.
Dr. Flood embarked into private practice after completing a tour of duty in the Army, serving as chief of Podiatric Surgery with Department of Orthopedics and Podiatry at Irwin Army Hospital, Fort Riley KS during the Iraq conflict. He founded First Step Foot Care in 1991 with the goal of providing the highest quality specialized service for the diagnosis and treatment of all foot and ankle problems in the Tri-County area.
Dr. Rahimi has been in practice since 1986 and has been a clinical professor of radiology at the Dr. William Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine since 1990. Dr. Rahimi was also a director of a very sought after residency program from 1995 - 2006. Dr. Rahimi was clinical instructor at Mount Sinai Hospital and is currently an American Board of Podiatric Surgery Oral Examiner.
Dr. Cohn prides himself in being up to date with the newest and most advanced diagnostic and treatment options available. He is a native to the area and grew up in Deerfield, Illinois. Dr. Cohn completed his undergraduate education at the University of Illinois - earning degrees in molecular and cellular biology, chemistry, and psychology.

My husband is 76 and can't clip his hardened toenails so I took him to First Step today. Dr Ferrari was extremely professional but also warm and friendly. He was very gentle and did an amazing, thorough job. Not only did he cut my husband's nails, but then filed them smoothly with an electric file then applied lotion to his feet and ankles. We are so grateful! We will definitely return in the future. Medicare states we have to wait 63 days to be covered. But we will be back. Thanks, Dr Ferrari!

My Foot Care visits have been handled in a professional and courteous way. I have various foot issues and need to have my toenails cut periodically to maintain health of my feet. I am grateful for Dr. Fred Rahimi's expertise. I also appreciate the assistance of his nurse at beginning and end of visits. A very positive experience.

I was referred to First Step Foot Care by a couple of my family members who had been there in the past. I was surprised by how friendly the staff was from the time I called for an appointment, to the time I walked in the door. Everyone was very efficient and informative. I saw Dr. James Flood and he explained all the things he could do to help me with my foot problem.
He was very knowledgeable and helped me make my decision on what treatment would be best for me. He explained what I should continue to do to at home to take care of my issue. I would definitely recommend this office to everyone who needs a good and caring Podiatrist. I will definitely be going to them for any foot problems I may have in the future.

Very nice, large, modern facility with a number of Dr's to choose from. Nurses were great, loved Dr. Flood. He was extremely knowledgeable, thorough, honest, and provided a lot of materials to help me manage my injury and minimize future running issues. I felt well cared for and highly recommend the practice to anyone in need of podiatry care!

I saw Dr. Ferrari for an issue I've been having with my foot for months. He was great at explaining what was going on with my foot and showing me exactly where the root of the cause is. He thoroughly explained my options and made sure I was comfortable with any decision that I've made. He is great and I highly highly recommend seeing him.

A good friend recommended me to FirstStepFootCare and 2 other recommended Dr Ferrari. They were able to get me in same day to get my foot looked at. The facility is very nice. All staff friendly and professional. Dr. Ferrari professional and thorough. He explained everything in terms that I would understand. Nicole O'Brien is amazing too!

I have gone to First Step Foot Care for years and have always had a great experience. I've seen several doctors in this practice, and each was thorough, courteous, and helpful. Recently, I needed to get my daughter who was home from college for a short time in to be fitted for new orthotics, and they were very helpful to find an appointment on short notice to make it possible. Their new facility in Arlington Heights is very nice and state of the art. Highly recommend.

I was referred to First Step Foot Care for a treatment that my primary podiatrist did not offer. This is now my primary podiatrist; Dr. Flood is very professional and consultative in developing a treatment plan. The technical staff are friendly, efficient and patient. The ultimate result was that my pain went from a consistent 10 (maximum pain) to a 1 in 6 weeks after two years of a variety of different treatments. I highly recommend this practice and Dr. Flood in particular.

Doctor Ferrari patiently explained my foot condition to me. NEVER looked at his watch Have me plenty of time to ask questions and did not rush off. Front desk staff was efficient but also friendly and helpful as was the tech that took my history and did my foot xrays. I highly recommend this practice

I am reviewing after my initial visit. The team of staff were all very friendly and helpful. My appointment was on time and I felt everyone was very knowledgeable. Dr Flood came recommended to me by a trusted friend and I felt very confident that he (and his candor) can help me. My prescribed treatments were put into motion immediately, from an oral prescription being faxed to my physical therapy order being faxed and I was able to schedule those appointments right next door. So far, this process has been easy!
