Gibellato C Matthew More than a century ago, Sheltering Arms began as the vision of a young woman named Rebekah Peterkin who made it her mission to help working families in Richmond, VA who could not afford to pay for healthcare. Though Ms. Peterkin died two years later, her friends remained committed to her dream. Local physicians and nurses gave their time to see patients and an executive Board of ladies devoted their hearts and their time to keeping it running. They sought funds and supplies from those who could spare them, and made the hospital's first blankets by sewing newspapers inside cotton covers.
Services
As employees of Sheltering Arms, we exhibit care and compassion with our patients, their families, and staff in all daily interactions. Sheltering Arms is open to change for the sake of improvement and embraces opportunities that enhance outcomes. Sheltering Arms strives for excellence in all that we do as an organization that is committed to the highest standard of rehabilitative care.
This action does not change the inpatient physical rehabilitation services offered by Sheltering Arms Institute or the outpatient therapies and wellness programs provided by Sheltering Arms Physical Rehabilitation Centers. Both the hospital and the outpatient therapy and wellness clinics will remain in operation.

Very run down and unkempt facility. Compared to VCU Medical to this place is garbage. They also do not respond when you send message using their website's contact us page. Stay away.

My initial experience at the Reynolds location was the pits straight out the gate. This should've been a warning indicator, but I didn't heed the signs. -First, I would like to say the assistant Therapist who worked with me, subsequently, was really nice and professional - most every other person who either inept, confused, rude, and/or condescending, starting with the Therapist who did my initial evaluation, Caroline, on up to Brian, the Supervisor. -I was talked down to consistently, they lied on several occasions, then my "final evaluation", was 5min. in length, and was done supposedly while I standing poolside and engaged in a separate conversation with Emily about a personal matter. Insane. -The kicker is that I supposedly met goals which were never discussed with me at the initial evaluation.

What a joke and a Crock! -Finally, I was recently told to bring back another new referral (separate issue). I tried to give them (Emily) in early in May, and the receptionist wouldn't take it even though I informed her that both Emily and Brian asked me to bring back. Then, Brian comes out and acts as if he doesn't understand what the problem is. Well, the problem is that your receptionist stated she could receive it. -Honestly, the people/service skills in that office Sucks really hard, So much so that I refused to be seen by Caroline, nor Brian. Ever! - Otherwise two people in the place are nice.maybe three, and so is the building.
