I went as new patient. The eye exam should have been 100% covered by insurance but according them I owed $20 for dilating my eyes. Second, I went back about 10 days later to order my glasses. Paperwork was completely lost. Actually they told me that "it was shredded". I end up ordering my glasses. This was 4 weeks ago. I got a call 2 weeks ago telling me that the "manufacturer " made a mistake and it will be another 2 weeks. 2 weeks later still no glasses.

My opinion if the manufacturer made a mistake than that manufacturer would fix that mistake quite quickly instead of waiting another 2 weeks that has not turned into 3 weeks. The eye doctor though was great. He was awesome. Everything else is way below standards. And for such a nice place. Totally disappointed. Still waiting on my glasses

I went here as a new patient, they were able to get me in fairly quickly. At my appointment you could tell they stay busy, they were straight to the point, not much conversation.cool, as long as I get what I came for. I was given some trial contacts. After a few tries I could tell the right side was off. Trying to get back in was a little annoying, mostly on my part because my schedule is crazy.

Finally I was able to get fit in for someone to look at my situation and try to fix it. I went as soon as they opened, Andrea took me back immediately, found the problem, adjusted my contact, gave me the proper one and I was on my way! Thanks Andrea (my birthday twin) and the front desk staff for getting me in.

Didn't have good experience there. Got charged for optional exam without being asked. Also, bought glass and gave them my own glass frame but when I got back from them it was broken. There response was they don't carry liability if frame is brought by customer. Lost both money, and frame. Any other customer service is not great either. Won't go back and won't recommend anyone either.

Go elsewhere if you want a doctor that will bother to listen to your questions without cutting you off. Happy to be gone.

I made an appointment for an examination to obtain a specific Rx so I could do computer work all day without eyestrain. The Dr had other ideas. I was given prescriptions for book reading length and progressives. I requested an adjustment Rx, since the first two given didn't work as I needed or asked. A second visit confirmed that the "adjusted" estimated Rx was just like the first one. So, I made a third appointment, this time to get a second examination.

I was denied my examination by an optician and told to come back a fourth time. Fed up, I asked for a refund of my cash payment $139. They refused, even though the service I paid for was not rendered. Thanks, AMEX, for retrieving my funds.

Both me and my husband had the eye check up today. For my husband it was a follow up from the last as they couldn't complete the check after dilating the eyes. At that point they scared him saying he may have glaucoma or cataract as the pressure is a little high to his eyes. Today after checking the doctor did not even speak or say anything or did not talk much about the health of eyes.

The prescription for eyes which was given we took to Costco and there they informed us the previous eye prescriptions had bifocals and the prescription given by guilford eye care does not. So my husband went back to guilford eye care to have the prescription corrected, the receptionist was rude and started behaving indifferently and was very unfriendly. Had Costco not told us about the prescription mistake we would not found. I would not recommend guilford eye care. Now it makes us think if they diagnosed correctly. We are going to have the second opinion.

I have called 5 times within the last week to make an appointment - I am either getting a recording that no one is available or I am hold for over 15 minutes. I still have not been able to schedule an appointment. Not sure that they need my business - hate to beg anyone to make an appointment and get my business, Guess it is time to change!

I had a great experience with Guilford Eye Center! Dr. Thurman was very thorough with her exam and took the time to really see what was going on with my eyes! I am truly impressed and I am Excited to be getting my new glasses! I highly recommend them and her!

Great spot. Wonderful staff. Friendly environment. They helped me replace a lost screw in my sunglasses at no cost in an expedited fashion. Located right off New Garden. Easy to get in and out of. Thanks ladies for taking care of me. I really appreciate it.

My mother was at the Guilford Eye Center and was treated by a young female doctor and the doctor was very disrespectful to my mother and the only thing my mother asked was "what happened to my eyes" and the doctor said I was going to take the tests and she said "I will let you know" which she NEVER did they kicked my mother out of the room and the doctor never came back to tell my mom what happened to her eyes. As a daughter when she said this to me I was very angry. Everyone should be treated with respect!

Most of the staff is great and very personable but I will no longer be visiting Guilford Eye Center for my vision care. Similar to previous reviews, I was informed when I made my appointment that the doctors don't wear masks for their appointments and that I would have to fill out a form specifically requesting for them to do so. This is ridiculous and unacceptable given the number of cases in our state right now, especially in a profession where such close face to face contact is unavoidable.

Not to mention they are going against a state mask mandate requiring them to wear a face mask in their place of business. I'll be switching to a practice with doctors who value and respect the health and well-being of their patients.

My overall experience was great unfortunately it just takes one person to ruin it. I had a condition that required me to have two visits within five days. Everyone was kind and courteous but one of the optometrist I saw did not wear a face covering. He had very strong opinions against wearing any kind of face covering. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but this is a person working physically close to his/her patients in an enclosed room and is willfully defying a state mandate. Maybe once this pandemic is over, I may be able to recommend the Guilford Eye Center but as of right now, I cannot recommend this facility to anyone.

The staff is wonderful however, today I was called by a gentleman telling me my daughters glasses were ready and I politely asked him to check on my glasses and my fiance's glasses so that I only had to make one trip. He was nice and said sure. After being on hold for a few seconds a woman came one the phone and said harshly "IS THIS AMANDA?" I said yes, she said you just ordered your contacts on Friday so they are not in yet.

Me still being polite, said no I'm checking on my glasses and she cut me off and said well we called you about Madison's glasses. I took a deep breath and said ma'am could you please let me finish I'm calling about.and she hung up on me. I called the office front desk and they apologized and told me that it was one of the doctors wives who doesn't usually answer the optical line.

They apologized and let me know that only my daughters glasses were in. I explained to them that after spending almost $800 in one visit we did not deserve that kind of customer service. I see if I was rude to the woman, if I was angry, or nasty, but she had no right to treat me that way nor does she have a right to hang up the phone on me. I'm really disappointed in the customer service I received today and I'm not sure if my family will be back.

Not only was Rhonda Thurmond not wearing a mask during a global pandemic, but she tried to shame me for wearing one during my visit and tried to get me to remove my mask. She also went on bizarre conspiracy theory rants about how vaccines are dangerous and I would be stupid to get one, Bill Gates is killing children in Africa, and 5G cell phone signals are frying our brains.

How could I possibly trust the medical advice of someone who thinks masks and vaccines are not only bad, but evil? Rhonda Thurmond is a danger to her patients and the entire community.

I had an appointment at 9am and didn't leave till after 12! Rude front desk staff and optometrist was quick and short with me. I was kept waiting a long time in each room. Very poor time management in this office. I won't be back.

Almost no wait, clean office, knowledgeable and efficient staff. Picking out and buying glasses was easy.

DO NOT COME HERE UNLESS YOU HAVE EXTRA MONEY TO BURN. This is by far the MOST expensive place in Greensboro to get an eye exam. I was fitted for contacts and received a prescription for eyeglasses. The total charges were $468! FOR ONE VISIT! My insurance paid all but $180. I paid that out of pocket on the day of exam. I was given contact lenses to try for a week and call back later to let Dr. Thurmond know how they were.

After calling the office to request my old contacts rather than the new ones tried, I was told I cannot receive my contact prescription because the insurance did not pay a $67 deductible. They refused to give me my prescription until the deductible was paid. This is AFTER they received $400 for the ONE visit. My prescription was held RANSOM until I paid in full. I will NEVER be back here.

This place sucks period! It's ran by a bunch of idiots! I went to my first apt which was ok at the very least. Then go to my next one and they don't have anything on me list everything. So I cancled my apt and went to battle ground eye care! And it's been amazing Jon Scott even apologized on their behalf!

I have been a patient of Dr. Wood for the past few years & I can't complain. The care is good and not too pricey, they take my VSP insurance, & the staff is professional. My only criticism is that it can take awhile for the doctor to get to the exam room, even if you are an 8:00 patient. Otherwise, this is a pretty good eye care center.

Never been impressed with Guilford Eye Center. I go because of insurance only. Been several times and it has not gotten any better. I would recommend Dr. Jon Scott on Battleground! Wish my insurance was accepted there! Much more personable!

The people working there are unpleasant, argumentative and dishonest. I paid them $15 for my pupillary distance. They wrote down something that is totally useless & resulted in my prescription being off. When I called back for clarification before ordering another pair of glasses, I was told that the pupillary distance CHANGES every year (really?!?

In children & adolescents, maybe!) & that I would need to come back in, have another eye exam, & have my PD re-measured. You cost me one wrong prescription, lied to me about PD changing, and admitted you took me for $15 before. Why would I let you do it again?

This was my son's second trip to Dr. Wood, and I have left thoroughly displeased AGAIN so we will not be back. Last year, he wanted to try contacts for the first time but the lady fitting him rushed him so badly that we ended up having to leave and try at home. He decided to stick with glasses. We go back again this year with an early morning appointment so he wouldn't be too late getting to school--well, it was over an hour before we saw the doctor.

I signed a form declining dilation but that was the only form I signed other than update of medication at check-in. They have a 17 y/o boy--yes, you read that right, 17--doing the machine testing prior to the exam. While this kid was checking my son's eyes, a small child started crying down the hall and the kids said out loud, "He needs to be spanked." Ah, a voice of obvious parental wisdom, nevermind the fact that I don't want to hear you unprofessionally making comments about other patients.

Fast forward to getting my son new glasses and I told the young lady that the previous year, polycarbonate lenses were covered on children under our insurance plan. She doesn't bother to check, just says it changes every year and now it's $35. She then tells me my total, which apparently includes $21 for a retina camera that isn't covered under insurance but I did not agree to (nor was I even told about).

She noted that I did not sign a form about it, but did not offer to remove the charge, only to bill me later if I didn't want to pay it that day. After I left, I checked with my insurance and sure enough, I should not have been charged the $35 for polycarbonate lenses. I called back and they said they would refund it when I returned to pick up his glasses. So they scammed me for $21 dollars and almost $56 if I hadn't been diligent about the lens fee.
