Mammograms are nothing to look forward to, but I just had my first one at HMC and Yvette was great. She has the perfect balance of professionalism and easy attitude to make it a comfortable experience. She walked me through every step and vocalized every move during this sensitive procedure, always asking if I was ok. She also had me in and out quickly without feeling rushed. Not that I will look forward to future exams, but I won't dread them either thanks to Yvette.

I got diagnosed with Hyperthyroid recently. My family took me to this hospital since I was going thru a Hyperthyroidism storm. Sitters were so kind to me. They accepted my Ambetter healthcare which is a really affordable healthcare. I was treated with dignity, respect and integrity. As a college student It means a lot to me. Food does need to improve but other than that nurses treated me well. My Endocrinologist was very professional I got to learn even further of alternatives to my thyroid. I was discharge in two days just as promise and they look after me well.

Unfortunately Harlingen has no good Hospitals. This facility leaves you waiting for hours. And if they dont have the Specialty Dr you need you get sent home

Absolutely terrible ER department. I have a history of Kidney failure and Acute Kidney Injury and they would not take me seriously. The triage 1 nurse was extremely rude she did not weigh me, collect my height and just asked "whats wrong with you" and as I was trying to list my symptoms and give background information on my visits with other hospitals she did not listen at all then sent me out.

As I was getting blood work taken I was puking and the phlebotomist with a complete disregard for patient compassion told me very rudely to just sit up and back so she can get the blood because I looked fine. Excuse me but as someone who lives with a chronic disease there is not an off switch to throwing up. This happened to me before at this hospital last time and I had to come back on the brink of death and they just wanted to have me get one of my kidneys removed.

Not to mention it seems as they skip patients and put others first. There was an older man who had been there for HOURS and they never helped him even when I asked everyone for help and begged to see a doctor. However, they did let in a man who hit his hand on a wall and was worried it was broken. Very nice prioritizing. I wonder if there was an investigation into this hospital if they would find violations.

This is ridiculous as health care professionals you would expect a professional manner of doing things as well as atleast a bit patient compassion. Never again. Listen to your patients!

I went for depression and Benzo withdrawls. The did nothing to help. They just watched, made jokes and an employee chanted flower power. I will never, seek help again. I should've know better but what's 1 insignificant life. Never again

WOW. after 16 surgeries in lifetime. after multiple acute care visits. after working for greater than 40 years in health care. WOW. from opening words to end. even in most painful times and embarrassing moments. it is with the biggest amazing heartfelt listening staff i have ever encountered. All staff, even i if not assigned to me or if that was their perview. asking continually if anything needed. encouraging me how to manage pain (a bigga first in my 70 yrs). from RNs. administration to food service to security to housekeeping. to respiratory. to PT. OR just random staff persons passing by if they saw or heard any need or anguish sound they stopped and asked. took their time to understand what I needed. in some cases waited until the correct person got there or went and got the correct person.

All this in a little over 24 hours! Not a VIP. Just another knee surgery but contact with departments normally I would not have seen. a Director of Respiratory came in to check on me. I thought it was possibly if her Dept was doing OK but quickly knew it was for anything. room.temp. care. good.bad. anything. never met her prior but her letting me know if anything needed be sure and ask.

Working in Healthcare 40 + yrs, I hesitate any time to bother staff/people. but I was continually assured no bother please call or ask. And then get home and in matter of days, I get a card signed by staff wishing me healing plus their goal of exceptional care. that the staff took time to do this is exceptional. such a wealth of those good feelings made me want to continue my care and healing and do well so I could tell others about HMC.

I used to joke who was the best nurse manager at HMC ( she knows who she is) and find out she is the best CNO and continues her tradition of caring yet seeing the big picture is a time to recognize her staff and HMCs caring. It's like it's a team of cheerleaders to help you and guide you to get well and succeed. Whatever this is the Valley is better off for it. a model that even if it seems like signatures on a card didn't take much time or really did they remember who I am but just opening the card to see at a moment in time they cared I hope they continue. none of the asks seemed strained. hurried. none.

I hate to say but another close care site I worked at. during my spouse's surgery in last year was so opposite. stressed. angry. vocalize issues with patients and families. that was sad, sad, sad. almost too sad to see and never a chance to note the issues asked for like this ask. lessons all places need to learn and that a simple care statement means a lot.

Thanks to the team of nurses and helpers at the hospital. I had knee replacement on Jan 11 and stayed until Jan 12. All the team was very helpful and they run upon request to fulfill my necessities. They made my stay at the hospital nice and easy.

I brought my 65 yr old wife to this ER with an obviously dislocated shoulder at 11:00 pm. With a practicallly empty waiting room she still had to wait an hour just to be allowed in the evaluation room. After 3 long painful hours (1:00 am) she was finally offered pain medication. At about 3:00 am they took an X-ray and told her it was dislocated. .

Finally got the shoulder fixed and made it out of there about 7:00 am. I had noticed most of the rooms were occupied but with no one in the waiting room it seemed odd. I inquired about this and why the delay in treatment/evaluation. I was informed that the ER rooms were full of admitted patients from the other floors who were brought down to the ER overnight so they could reduce staff on the hospital floors.

So basically my wife had to wait hours for relief because the hospital didn't want to properly staff the medical/surgical units. I understand waiting your turn but someone with obvious physical trauma should be triaged even if it's not necessarily life-threatening. This visit wasn't at all what we expected from a hospital that touts itself as the premier hospital in the area.

I took my mom very sick thinking this was one of the best hospitals. My complaint is not about the hospital itself its about a specific nurse who was not treating my mother who is in a coma with respect. It was brought to her attention after poking her many times to stop trying to get blood from her and call someone else to assist her and her response was, do you want to try yourself?

Besides not respecting the patients she's also disrespecting the family members. Her name is Crystal Vaughn. She was removed from my mother's care but she will do the same to other patients.

Terrible experience in the ER. They left my 2yr old with a 103 fever until they could complete a billion tests. Genuinely felt they just wanted to charge my insurance for everything since we wouldn't pay out of pocket. Felt unnecessary, traumatized my baby. Left him frying without any care. Only when I asked for another temp check (nurse gave me attitude, saying he will be a LITTLE WARM since I had him covered) and they realized he was extremely high, they magically have the a diagnosis and treatment plan not needing to complete the unfinished tests.
