Many body parts begin to change as you age, and your eyes are no exception. One of the most common age-related eye changes is the development of cataracts. Although cataracts do not occur exclusively in older adults, they affect approximately half of all Americans by age 80. Cataracts occur when the lens of the eye becomes clouded.
Cataracts are very common in older people, and they affect how a person refracts light in the eye. At Holicki Eye Center & Optical in Coldwater, Sturgis, and Angola, our eye doctors can detect cataracts with state-of-the-art technology, and provide eye care treatment for them. Visual acuity test: This is an eye chart that determines how well you can see without vision correction.
At Holicki Eye Centers & Optical, we strive to meet all of your eye and vision care needs. Corrective lens evaluations and prescription management are provided by Dr. Smith. After a comprehensive eye and vision evaluation, Dr. Smith will discuss the variety of contact lens options with you to select the type that best fits your vision needs and lifestyle.

Edited: They have reached out to us with an apology and a sincere hope to correct all of the issues.*My husband and myself work out of state. Had eye exams in October knowing we would not pickup glasses until November. Go in in November and my husband's glasses are wrong. Now we have to wait until December to get another exam and get glasses corrected.

Just to find out the prescription they created for him did not match his eyes and the glasses. Told a week and half to get them back. They never mentioned they were doing a remodel the first week of January. They were closed at the week and half mark. Then problems with construction. After multiple calls I finally called the receptionist to be told they were closed.

They have a phone service but did not change their greeting. It would have saved me multiple calls. So the problems were on both sides of the group. They have never apologized for the multiple mistakes

I have been going to Holicki Eye Center for many years. My recent experience it was explained to me you will always wait to be seen so be patient. There is a reason you make appointments you should not have to wait in a room for a doctor since you had an appointment. One of my recent visits I left after it exceeded 30 minutes my time is a valuable as anyone there!

Excellent experience. Professional staff and short wait time. All staff were properly wearing masks and I witnessed a technician remind a woman to put her mask back on after trying on glasses. I chose this business after reading a review from a woman who was angry she was turned away for refusing to wear a mask during a pandemic. I'd like to thank her as she unintentionally helped me keep my family safe. I was pleased with the safety measures I witnessed and would recommend Holicki to anyone who doesn't take medical advice from Facebook.

I strongly suggest checking all bills and charges from this business. I am posting for my mother who has no access to internet, but was, until recently, a longtime client of this business. On 5/7/21 @ 4:30 p.m., after receiving her bill, my mother called the office to inquire about discrepancies concerning charges to her. Nancy, who took the call, chose to hang up on her. I, her son, called to speak with someone in charge and received similar, distasteful treatment by Nancy and was told I would have to call back on Monday and speak to "the business manager".

I was not permitted to know what this person's name was, just title. 5/10/21 @9:37 a.m., called for the business manager, was told they're unavailable and sent to voicemail, I left a message. @9:42, called billing dept., no one answered. @ 9:52, I called back and was able to talk with the business manager. I explained to her the situation, stating that they were, according to the bill, overcharging her for the services rendered.

I explained in detail, that not only did they attempt to overcharge her, but that they were charging her for something she was unaware. To this, I received a lot of illogical excuses. She attempted to maintain that "they did everything right". However, when I explained that we already contacted the bank and the payment she made, in the office, had already been taken, before the date on the bill, then she started backtracking.

I was told something must have crossed in the mail. Yet, this didn't account for why the bill didn't show her payment. Furthermore, it doesn't explain why there would have been a bill in the first place. My mother, who has a long history of paying her bills on time, would have paid the bill in full, if in fact the other charge was disclosed. It was not disclosed at the time of the appointment, otherwise it would have been paid, although that wasn't recorded either. So, after more illogical excuses, I simply stated that they would receive no further payment until my mother received a corrected bill.

They had no problem sending the new bill quickly, which was paid, just to prevent any further issues with this business. Although, I am fairly certain that you cannot be charged without your knowledge and there is no proof available either way. Bottom line, there are some serious internal issues with this business IMO, both departmental and staff.

Whatever this business was, no longer seems to be. I am happy to be done with it. After being a loyal client for 10+ years, this is more than acceptable treatment. I am sure more excuses or pathetic apologies will follow below, because that is the "new normal", while nothing of any substance is applied as a remedy for this behavior.

I had an appointment for 3:45pm on a Friday. They called me on Thursday and said the Doctor had a scheduling issue and needed to leave early and asked me if I could come in at 10:15am instead. I told them I would make that work. I took an early lunch break to make it on time. I arrived at 10:05am and the parking lot was packed. I waited in the lobby area until 10:45am before I was called back to a room.

The 40 minutes I was in the lobby, I was entertained by the women up front talking bad about the people who had just left. There were 6 of us listening to them talk about the couple. The tech took me to the room to begin my eye exam and she was done at 11:11 and she said I needed to wait for the Doctor. Twice, while I waited, someone peeked in my room.

I waited for the Doctor for 25 minutes. Once she came in at 11:36, I realized that it was her that had been peeking in the room. She tried to make small talk but I was out of patience! She did another eye exam to confirm what the tech had done. At 11:54 she tells me to go with the tech to pick out some frames. I make it over there at 11:55 only to be told I have to come back Monday to pick out frames.

The girl doing the frames had to leave and go to the Coldwater location and she had to be there by 1pm. I made an appt for Monday at 3:30 and went back to work. but I was so frustrated I called them back at 2:30 to just get my prescription so I could take it elsewhere to get my frames. They wouldn't let me come back in that day to pick up my prescription.they said I could come in Monday.

They offered to mail it to me instead. I called back again to see if they could fax it to my work. They did fax it. So I went back to work to get the fax. I took it to another place that same afternoon who was able to fit me in frames. Awful experience and I would never recommend them to my family or friends

I am mask exempt and I told them this before I made my appointments for myself and my two children. I was told they'd make arrangements for me and to call once I got there. I was told to come in where I was treated extremely bad over the masks! The front desk lady even had the nerve to ask me very nasty why are you exempt? To which I replied it's none of your business!

Long story short I was asked to leave the office after almost being finished with my paperwork. I will never go there again! Want a great eye dr office go to vision source in Auburn! Dr. Marrow owns them! Great service and very respectful!

I have had great experiences at Holicki. Dr. Emerson is exceptional. I appreciate the time she took with me to answer questions regarding my health. Dr. Emerson also takes care of my children and we wouldn't go anywhere else. They love her! I met with Emily who has helped me pick out numerous pairs of glasses and also a pair of prescription sunglasses.

I LOVE all of them and get so many compliments. She does such a great job finding the style that is best for me! She took care of my insurance issues and made sure I had everything I needed when walking out the door. I couldn't ask for more!

Every time there is an issue with my contacts, glasses, or eyes themselves Holicki Eye Center and their wonderful staff are there to save the day. In addition to a pristine office, the staff are genuinely nice and always respectful. The doctors go above and beyond to help their patients. The receptionists are always respectful and helpful! Not always the case at other offices, so it is very appreciated!

The staff in Optical are incredible! Every time I've gone in, they have helped me find cute glasses and taken the time to rate each pair I tried on so I could buy the most flattering pair. I fully plan on using their office for all eye care in the future, and unless I grow better eyeballs, that's a very long time. 10/10 recommend bringing business here!

This eye doctor has been wonderful for myself & children. One child went to a different eye doctor & had a very quick eye exam. He was shown some images & prescribed glasses. I was underwhelmed at the doctors lack of care for my son. We never returned. A year later, my son had issues with his sight again. I took him to Holicki's office. They were very thorough & discovered he has small optic nerves.

Upon further evaluations, it was also discovered this peripheral vision was not as it should be, and he is colorblind! My son spent 3 years in school having teachers tell him & me that he didn't follow directions while coloring his worksheets. He got in trouble & punished for "not following directions" when it turns out, he was colorblind! The other doctor failed to perform this simple test, but Holicki took the time to ensure my son a thorough eye exam.

My daughter had issues where her eye would roll back or go black suddenly. It was discovered that she was having ocular migraines. My husband went to see Holicki today. Due to another thorough eye exam, it was discovered that my husband has the start of glaucoma in his eye. This was missed by yet another eye doctor. I would love to give Holicki a 5 star rating, but, because of unforeseen circumstances our family was forced to apply for medicaid & can no longer continue our much needed eye visits in his office.

If his office accepted Medicaid, so our family could still get the proper eye care they needed, I would absolutely give 5 stars in a heartbeat! Now my son can no longer get the required yearly exams that he needs to ensure his optic nerves are growing as they should, and to keep watch for possible glaucoma development in his eyes as he gets older.

The same goes for my husband who had to pay out of pocket today for his exam. He couldn't purchase new glasses, (his are broken & his prescription changed) because he used the last of what he had for the exam. Unfortunately, my daughter can no longer see out of her glasses, and now has to try to find another eye doctor because of insurance issues.

The best experience getting new glasses! The staff from the doctor to the technician to the opticians was so friendly, helpful and extremely knowledgeable. I picked my glasses up and I have never seen as great out of new glasses and I get compliments on my frame ALL the time (thank you Jessica!). I will never go anywhere else again and you shouldn't either.
