The education of nurses has always been an integral aspect of the Holy Name Medical Center healthcare community. The School of Licensed Practical Nursing was established in 1972 and promulgates a philosophy and mission consistent with that of Holy Name Medical Center.
Programs are free and open to patients, survivors, caregivers, friends and family members. When Laura Ayala learned she had breast cancer, she only had two questions: Was she going to lose her hair? And when could she get back on the softball field?. Cancer care, just like cancer itself, is unique to each patient.
Vaccination for homebound patients with either physical or intellectual disabilities is possible. For information only on homebound vaccinations, email homeboundvaccine@holyname.org or call 201-833-3360. 12 years and older and are moderately or severely immunocompromised and got your 1st booster at least 4 months ago.
Holy Name Medical Center recognizes that the pandemic has created economic consequences such as job loss and financial hard-ship for many individuals in our community. In addition to the loss of income, job loss carries the risk of losing health insurance for individuals and families who were receiving health coverage through their employers.
If you have been diagnosed with cancer or have a family history of cancer, you may want to consider a hereditary cancer risk assessment. The Cancer Genetics Program at Holy Name Medical Center offers a comprehensive evaluation for individuals and families concerned about a higher risk of developing cancer.

I arrived at the ER on Sunday afternoon. I had already done my testing (MRI, endoscopy/colonoscopy) elsewhere and was diagnosed with *rare* bile duct stones. I was having relentless attacks and became pretty sick by Sunday (not happy with the diagnosing doctor). The staff from the ER to the gastro dept. were wonderful. They treated me so well, for three days, through my ERCP, and my insomnia! This is not my first rodeo at this hospital because it beats the hell out of Hackensack!

Disgusting, horrible experience in the E.R. It deserves no stars after the experience I had. The doctor was rude and useless. She showed little to no concern to the patient and didn't even think to evaluate or check her out until I questioned her on why she didn't do an evaluation. She was so rude. The nurses didn't seem to care everyone was just in a rush to get off their shift and go home.

I asked for any kind of snack as well because my mother was feeling light headed after getting blood drawn and the doctor said it wasn't necessary that you don't feel that way after getting blood drawn. This place was a waste of time. I hope their staff learns how to treat people properly in there emergency room.

The staff in the Interventional Radiology Department are by far the best around town. Everyone was so professional and courteous. The nursing staff are definitely a group to rave about . RN Cathy, you've helped me so much, I will never forget you. Dr. Run back is also THER BEST. I was in great hands all around. Thank You all again!

Unfortunately cannot give them less then 1 star, but I wish I could. Without any pepper communication and zero explanation I got billed for $1,300. On question "what is the bill for?" they kept saying that it is for the visit, however as per my insurance the visit was completely covered. And visit was not even at the hospital, but at the one of the offices that is using their facility. I asked to speak to the manager and no one ever got back to me to help with this issue, and they just simply sent it to collections.

I've been to this hospital many times over the past few years, it's definitely my favorite in the area. Always great patient care. L&D is wonderful, radiology is great, the physical therapy dept is outstanding!

This place is running a scam and I would never go here again. They tell you they take your insurance and you're in-network, they do the test, then they file it wrong and bill you, you call them and it's agreed that this is a mistake and you shouldn't owe anything and not to worry, the next year you get a bill again and same story, the next time they send you to collections.

Call collections, they agree the medical center screwed up, they send it back to holy name and close your account with collections. Holy name re-files with a different insurance and for some reason don't get the money, and instead of letting you know or billing you to let you know this happened, they immediately send you to a different collections agency.

If you call them to ask what the heck happened, they don't want to talk to you at all, talk over you, don't let you ask a question, and just put you on "hold" not meaning to ever answer again and then don't pick up when your number calls again to ask what is going on. I have nothing but the utmost hate for this hellhole. Also when I did go to these ultrasounds, heavily pregnant and with an appointment time, I had to sit for HOURS waiting for them to see me, it was absolutely ridiculous. Avoid them at all costs.

Run far, run fast, run wide. In pain of any kind don't come here. Have been starved, dehydrated, and left in pain by these people. When they find out you have medical training and can speak their language they still treat you like dirt. I may have gotten better service at my local Veterinarians office. I also have to add this. My bedding has not been changed in over 8 days and no new gown offered.

I had to complain and stand at my own bed side for more that an hour and a half to get results. It stinks this place is the worst. Find another hospital I don't care who or where just not here. I also do not understand why my former and current roommates in hospital have been treated way better than myself you wouldn't think I am not getting a bill.

And of course it will most likely will be a bigger one as long as I have been here. It seems to be a color issue to me. Yes I went there I have been nice cordial and polite. Why am I not getting the same treated as my pears.

Two stars for the two kind hardworking individuals. i was there with my daughter for possible fracture in her foot and while we were in the ER Leslie Prieto her self is a 5 star PCT. Her and Sherri are the only two I witnessed in the 2.5 hours we were there attending to patients from one to the next and checking back. There were orderlies in the hallway 6 to be exact talking loudly right outside of a room where it sounded like an elderly women was in pain for over 20 min I listened and watched as they talked and laughed about personal life and had no care of what was going on around them.

The patient next to me has a small child maybe 6 with injury was checked out by both Ms Prieto and Sherry than waited over 40 min for the releasing paper work from the nurses station where there where 4 people not even facing the screens talking about their children and hair colors. I am in customer service I do not post or write unless I feel the need for someone to be recognized.

I can't believe in a place where people are hurting and scared and suffering this is what I witnessed. There are break rooms and a time off the clock or during break that such actions away from patients are allowed. Very disappointed and Ms Prieto and Sherry God bless you for getting your job done I can't imagine it's easy being the only ones working and handling all aspects while others juice the clock. I do appreciate you and recognize your dedication I hope the board does to I thank you.

I would like to thank everyone at the Holy Name Medical center for their exceptional professionalism starting from the front desk all the way to the emergency rooms and staff. Nurse Krystal Cavaliere is a God send, her professional approach and human touch of assurance is absolutely amazing. Special thanks from patient Kateryna T.

The visitors policy needs to be revised. For patients not to be able to see their families until 12pm it's absurd. My mom had cervical surgery and had to stay overnight. 1. She cant speak english and 2. She couldnt speak at all because of the surgery. I was the only one able to understand her motions. She shouldnt be waking up alone without her family there to feed and care for her.

The nurses are not even attentive and if you press the call button they come at their own pace. Its not fair. The nurse told us last night we can come at 9am and the nurse this morning said the same thing but when we got to the hospital they decided we couldnt come in until 12pm. I cant even see her or speak to her to tell her im here and she cant communicate her needs to the staff. Its medically proven that patients do much better when they have a support system.

Part 1 of 2 On Friday about 1 AM I ended up at the hospital. I had Covid and was having trouble breathing so we get there I told the person at the front desk that I'm having trouble breathing and that my throat burns it's not a sore throat it burns. He takes my information, about 10 minutes later the nurse from triage comes over takes me in and asked how much I weigh, how tall I was and if I was allergic to anything.

I told her I was having trouble breathing I thought that my throat was closing because it was hard for me to breath without being in any kind of pain. She takes my temp and tells me my heart rate are ok. She takes me back out so I figure maybe she will bring me back in she'll completes the triage. I was never asked if I was on any type of medication or if I have any chronic illness.

Long story short that never happened. I'm diabetic, I take five different types of medication's. I get taken back out to the waiting room and short time after I get wheeled into the Covid unit, and a PA comes in and asked me what the trouble was? I told her I was having trouble breathing! I could not breathe because I felt like my throat was closing every time I tried to inhale it was extremely painful and it felt like air itself burned.

I was taking small shallow breaths to breath without to much pain. I told her something was wrong because I did not have a sore throat it burned. I told her my back hurt, but it maybe from me trying to compensate my breathing. She said she's going to examine me, but the light at the bed where I was at didn't work, nor did any of the instruments like the otoscope or any light at that station.

We were in a dark room all lights are off so, she turned on the only light above the bed in the ceiling she asked me to open my mouth. I told her I didn't see anything bc my throat was so swollen, I myself couldn't see nothing. She takes a -2.2 seconds of a glimpse and she says yeah I can't see nothing (I almost said to her would you like to borrow my iPhone light) and maybe a tongue depressor?

She checks my chest, checks my breathing, checks my back and she pauses and I thought, oh she might have found something, nope nothing. She comes back with my test results of course I have Covid, and I am clear for strep throat. She tells me she's going to give me medication for the pain something equivalent to Aleve and some thing for the inflammation in my throat, and some Lidacane.

I asked the nurse if she could ask the PA if she can do a throat culture to find out what I do have if I have. So, I proceed to ask the PA if I don't have strep, what do I have? She says well I use the process of elimination. you don't have strep, you don't have mono, and I don't believe that you're careless, so I don't believe you have gonorrhea (I didn't know that was some thing you can catch in your mouth, I guess we all learn something new) well I was happy about that I guess.

By this process of elimination I just might have a chance of obtaining my PhD from Google Docs. Now she's annoyed. She says U have laryngitis because U cannot speak and U have a sore throat. Complications of Covid. Again I tell her I DO NOT HAVE A SORE THROAT! it burns and I can't breathe it makes it hard for me to breathe. I can't even drink water!

She leaves the room and shortly comes back and she says oh we did run a culture but, we won't have the results for a few days. I will call you with the results. Today is the 18th and still no phone call. A nurse returns gives me two injections I fall asleep for a couple of hours. I'm woken up to tell me that they're going to discharge me with lidocaine to help with the pain in the back of my throat.

A woman popped her head in and says I am Dr. So and so, we're going to release you and she leaves. All of 10 seconds. I sit in the lobby wait for my ride to arrive and I read on the discharge papers that I had a sore throat and Covid of course nothing else and that I was attended by a doctor and a PA. I better not get a bill from the doctor because if they charge to say we're going to discharge you, I will be sending them a bill for the countless Times I had to tell them that I could not breathe!

I had a burning throat! not a sore throat! I will be paying that bill by my process of elimination, Did I receive quality care? No Was I made to feel like going to the emergency room was a mistake? Yes Was I still in pain when I left? Yes! Will I be returning again? No I will be making those deductions

Oh fun more surprise billing. God bless the American Healthcare System! What healthcare up to monthly for a non state employee family of 4 $2000 a month and a $20,000 deductible? About $50,000 a year but gotta make $70,000 before tax.

The maternity ward nurses, staff, and doctors are amazing. They really know how to care for you and your new baby. They were awesome! The only issue I had with the maternity ward is that it is not updated. The furniture and rooms look like they are from the 80s. They really need some serious renovating. They can easily modernize the rooms with some up to date fixtures, furniture, and decor. Hopefully they update it soon so it doesn't feel like you gave birth in the 80s. It really makes the birthing/recovery experience better when you are in a nice room.

I used to see Doctor Roger Green as my primary care doctor when I lived in NJ. In that time, I felt very heard and seen. However, I moved to Florida after graduating college and getting a position in my field. In that time I searched all over for a primary care I felt comfortable with but fell short. The FL healthcare system is very different here and it is hard to find good doctors.

I called Dr. Green to see if we could do telephone appointments so I could still care for my health and because at the time I trusted him. He agreed and I was very grateful. However, when I scheduled my first appointment the receptionist gave me a date and time but when that day came I received no call. I called her and she told me she never booked the appointment that previous Friday accidentally and would need to reschedule.

She had days to notify me of this mistake but she didn't, if I hadn't called I would have never known she never scheduled me. This was the first sign of unprofessionalism, Then when Dr. Green finally I called I felt rushed, not heard and not seen. I was having some very real issues and health concerns but felt completely dismissed. He was all over place, I sent my blood work in which he promised he'd look at and he never did.

The phone call was a total of about 12 minutes, in which I felt just as unheard and uneasy about my issues than before the call. That of course did not stop his office from charging my insurance $310 for a 12 minutes phone call. Feeling like I was stuck I kept calling back for appointments, I have severe headaches and he did prescribe me pills for those but even then I felt rushed during the appointment.

Again another really short call, about 10 minutes and another $310 bill to my insurance. After this I kept my distance but then I had a unique health issue happen and I felt really hopeless so I called Dr. Green's office and was basically laughed at by the receptionist and told to go somewhere closest to me. Kicker is a Teledoc doctor actually helped me and prescribed me what I needed over the phone.

I was heard, I was seen and it wasn't a service I would have ever used until I felt that Dr. Green failed me. The last straw was when I called for a prescription I was told he'd fill and the receptionist was rude and told me to find a doctor in Miami because they couldn't help me. Number one, I live nowhere near Miami and never lived there.

Doctor Green was supposed to give me a list with doctors in my area after our first phone appointment. But to no surprise he did not. She had my address and the city I lived in but didn't care to do the due-diligence and help me. To be very honest, I do feel failed by him and his office. I am disappointed and feel that my insurance was scammed by him because no ones time is worth $310 for a 10 minute or so call. I hope that this does not happen to anyone else because this was a very rough experience for me.

This Hospital deserves to be monitored closely they need medical training I'll never would recommend this facility to anyone. Medical professionals have a responsibility to provide quality care to each patient they serve. hospitals, doctors, nurses and staff fail to perform their duties with the highest level of competence and care, to patients.

My husband was admitted to Holy Name Hospital on 4/15 and released on 4/17 he was released with a diagnosis of heart failure practically he was sent home to die! since people abuse minorities especially Hispanics people! They kept on diagnosing him with Covid despite the fact the he tested negative 2 times. 6 days later he underwent triple bypass because he was found to have coronary artery disease! So I'm warning anyone who is reading this please choose another Hospital to care for you're loved ones or you may suffer serious or fatal injuries!

My 78 year old mother-in-law was admitted to the Telemetry Unit at Holy Name Medical Center, in Teaneck, New Jersey, on April 14th, 2021. Even up to now, I do not know what her status is, how she's doing, or if she's receiving proper care. Every time I called the hospital for an update, I was put on hold for a few minutes, told by whoever was answering the phone calls - who didn't even bother to identify the unit and say their name - that the "nurse [was] busy, " and instructed me to call back at a later time.

I followed their instructions. I called multiple times. I left my number for a return phone call. They never returned any of my calls, and despite their lack of service, I maintained a non-confrontational demeanor, even as I increasingly grew worried about my elderly loved one; I wanted to be able to ensure my mother-in-law's well-being, no matter what it took.

My 4th call was answered by an extremely rude nurse who told me she was in the "middle of report" and "not the assigned the nurse, " and therefore couldn't help me. She abruptly put me on hold and forgot about me, leaving me on the line for a very long time. What bothers me the most about this situation is the fact that I AM AN ICU NURSE myself, and never have I hung up on people - especially a concerned family member - who are simply asking for an update.

I came to Holy Name to have my baby. The Maternal Fetal department was fine. Good service and nice staff. During delivery, the nurses and doctor were professional and caring. They knew how to do their job and kept me informed. Their biggest weakness is the POOR COMMUNICATION which is very important. Especially being new to the state. Out of the 5 messages I left, to different departments, with a staff, only 1 called back.

And that's because I had to chase her, because my pediatrician was adamant that I return to the hospital. I ended up going elsewhere to have my needs taken care of. Another example, I had to bring my 2 days old baby to get blood drawn and couldn't leave until I got the OK from the results. I waited 2 hours! And that's because the staff in the lab started calling around to find out what was the hold up.

I was the only patient in the room. Even the baby nurse leaving for the day was surprise to see us still waiting. I was told many reasons, doctor was being called, he left the building, he is delivering at the moment, etc. I am relieved I don't have to return to the hospital. I will commend them for their COVID protocol. They take it seriously, equipped, and staffs are hands on to ensure every patient is well taken care of and safe.

I have been a patient of Holy Name Medical Center for a few years. I am thrilled by the care I've received by the staff at the Breast Center, the staff in Radiology and everyone I speak to when I call. Yes, I am sometimes on hold for a bit but I understand how busy they are. Their COVID -19 protocol is of the highest standards. Just a few of the wonderful people at Holy Name who made me feel very comforted during procedures.

Breast Center: Janice, Myrna, Maureen, Christine, Vanessa, Dr. Clarkin and Dr. Brinkmann Jay in the Radiology Department. I have only good things to say about Holy Name Medical Center!

REVIEWS Very poor and unprofessional staff, they almost kill me 3 years ago. as well my wife was to close to died because the incompetent staff. I had a surgery 3 years ago and the after care medical service was very poor, ( Off course the billed over 100k to my insurance) while I was there, I presented a high fever due to an infection that I cached there and that was NOT treated properly, they neglected my medical situation.

My personal Dr. was called, I he advocated to get the right antibiotic, saving my life. Also, 2 years ago, my wife suffered a very bad experience there; despite they knew and the staff were informed that my wife can not tolerate Morphine, they used twice, to the point that she collapse. Nurses and staff were told that she my wife was extremely allergy to morphine; I keep asking myself why these ugly staff used again morphine to the point that they have to resuscitate her due to their ugly mistakes and unprofessional medical procedures.

They Holy Ugly Hospital, sent a separated bill, because they resuscitated her, this is real crazy. I DO NOT RECOMMEND Holy Ugly Hospital for any reason, some staff are very rude and some nurses got angry if you ask them for something, i wish I can civil sue them for the physical and emotional suffering they caused to us. Also it is shame that Holy Name Hospital is sending patients that has been making payments every months to a collection agency, because their accounting department is very slow and their ineptitude to send bills to insurance companies on time is poor, really their medical service is mediocre and very unprofessional. NOT GOOD HOSPITAL WARNING! WISH TO TAKE TO THEM TO LEGAL INSTANCES. NEED ONE LAWYER

Wow. Is there an option for 0 stars?! I walked In with severe stabbing lower left pelvic pain. Waiting area had about 8 other people. Everyone got called then I got called about 30 mins after arriving. I got triaged. Then told to give a urine sample. After providing the sample I was made to walk around to one waiting area, to the main waiting area, then to the receptionist with my urine specimen in hand for about an hour.

Although I asked on several occasions for it to be taken from me. Everyone that walked into the ER and past me examined my urine in my hand, it was very dehumanizing to be holding my waste on display for everyone for no fucking reason. When reporting to the triage nurse I told her I've had chest pain infrequently at rest that I would also like to get checked out because I don't often come to the ED and when I do it's because I've added a slew of issues that I can no longer ignore.

So why was only CBC and electrolytes ordered? Why not PCOS panel because of my history? Why not trops? D-dimer? How do I know this? Because I asked the Phlebotomist what she was drawing before she did. I also requested a smaller needle to which she responded with strong and unwelcoming body language with a needle of about the same gauge which hurt like hell.

Its actually encouraged that if pain can be controlled for without giving up other important steps draw blood without hurting the patient. she went in hard and deep for no reason what so ever- and was Disgusting and unremorseful. I'd rather die than be left to wait at the hands of incompetent and rude staff. I wasn't given a form of refusing treatment upon leaving because they don't care and/or don't know how to do their jobs. I once thought holy name to be a reputable place to visit if you were in any form of distress now I would not even send my enemy there. Go to englewood instead.

Watch out your pockets! They overcharge and bill you like crazy! I sent numerous letters, by mail and by fax about overcharging and they were pretending that hey never received it. In some point I got a verbal confirmation (even I've got the fax machine confirmation) that they got my letter, and when I asked how many day are you going to answer to my letter, the response was: "we will contact you when we will review it". This is attitude of Holy Name Medical Center! However, I posted on FB my experience and this is was an Holy Name Medical Center answer, please see the attachment

For years I have questioned how this hospital has stayed open. It's clear that due to location they are a go to but quite frankly, Hackensack and Englewood Hospital would be the preferred if you seek better care. The nurses here are so poor in patient connection, they seem bored by your questions and concerns, they can't do math when it comes to measuring doses.

I witnessed one step out the room to ask another how to do it - WOW! The night nurses are just so tired and lazy; I watched a urine sample stay on a table for a whole HOUR after the patient who provided the sample was discharged. I watched the nurse come in and out the room multiple times and just left it. The doctor that started our care was not the doctor that finished out care, her time was up and she clocked out and got the hell out of there.

No goodbye, I'm leaving you in the care of new doctor, nada. The doctor that took over was so damn spaced out, he spoke like a doctor directly out of med school, " so yea, your labs were clear, you have this Dx, but just continue what you're taking now. Hold tight, and we'll get you out of here." Holy Hell, are you for real man. I will not return here, ever again, I will take the extra 10-15 minute drive to either of the aforementioned hospitals.

The outpatient services are extraordinary! Radiology and cancer treatment staff are observant, responsive, proactive and compassionate- oftentimes beyond the call of duty. Todays visit for X-ray was quick and caring, they even walked me to the elevator after the Xray ( and i'm perfectly mobile and capable). This is, i am sorry to say, a stark contrast to their inpatient services. Inpatient staff are hurried, unresponsive and even rude and do not document in a precise way which can really complicate insurance reimbursement.
