If the front desk is the gateway to getting in, I can only imagine how the appointment will go. In trying to make an appointment for an 86 year old woman. I could not get more resistance and down right unhelpful interactions with the appointment desk. Valerie was so rude to my mother in law that I had to take over. Trying to work with her myself was discouraging. Unhelpful, rude, and resistant to helping in any way.

If my mother in law wasn't set on seeing the doctor she saw before out of familiarity, I would move on without hesitation. This entire interaction has been what customer service and professionalism should NOT look like.

Surgery unsuccessful. Going elsewhere for 2nd eye and to correct 1st eye fogginess. Staff rude and clueless. It was a surreal experience. It is a money-making business without concern for patients' welfare. The business of four patients was lost today and any future referrals, but when you put the unqualified payment clerk in charge of your medical practice, what else can you expect?

I was very pleased with the professionalism of the staff and the thoroughness of my eye exam when I was having problems. The nurse took her time and explained everything. Dr. Fish was clear in his explanations and at no time did I feel uncomfortable. After the nurse, he did his own exam and then immediately referred me to a specialist at the Texas Retina Center.

I did not have the impression expressed by others about pressure to upsell or the incidence of insurance fraud. My final bill was less than what I was quoted at the beginning. I felt that they put the health of the consumer first and that is important. I would return here again but hopefully I won't have to.

Long story short: There is MOST definitely a major insurance fraud going on at this place. You will be told that the basic eye exam will go thru your vision insurance, but then you will be told differently at check out as "additional exam was done, so it's considered a medical visit & it won't be covered" - regardless of what conversation you had when making the appt, or reconfirming again with the technicians.

The MD will come in the end, do one 'extra' exam and that will be coded differently & they will justify that charge & ask you to pay $200+. This is the summary of several reviews written. Fight it & ask to speak to the manager, that's what I did for it to be corrected/resolved. Read below for full details of my experience & what happened to get my charge corrected! Details: Went in for a lasik enhancement (PRK) eval - which was confirmed to be free.

I wasn't a candidate (yet), so I was asked if I'd like also like to to go ahead & get a yearly eye exam done for new glasses prescription (refractory exam) - which was also confirmed to be covered thru my eye insurance. The final retinal exam (done for the PRK baseline eval) was done by the MD and there was an incidental finding that I have early mild cataracts.

He said nothing is done it right now & he explained what is expected with PRK, etc Welp, at check out, I was asked to pay $271 - Wait? What? Why!? Explanation: "because the doctor did an exam & there is a cataract diagnosis, so it is not considered an eval anymore, but charged as full doctors visit" Which made zero sense! I tried to explain that the exam was done as part of the (free) eval & that I didn't come in for cataract related concern (reason for visit) & nothing was done for it, i.e. you can't just charge someone for an incidental finding! It's like going in for an oil change with during the routine maintenance check, the mechanic finds that my battery is running slightly low & recc to keep an eye on it (no pun intended) -- the mechanic is not going to charge me for the battery check separately simply bc he told me it was low and found out during the maintenance check!

I also mentioned my conversation about it being covered beforehand, and I should've been informed if something wasn't going to be covered. I even asked them speak to the technician to verify this conversation, but the rep completely dismissed it stating "we are not responsible for what the back office says or does" wow! Really?! You are not take any responsibility - not even try to clarify the misinformation being given by your own clinic staff? -- 20+ mins of giving them 5 different analogies to disqualify their ridiculous rationale, going in circles with 3 different rude staff members later, I was finally offered to see the manager, but told that it could be a 30-40 mins wait ~ yet another tactic to discourage someone to be questioning the charge.

I had no problem waiting bc I was 100% sure that charge was wrongly coded & it was wrong to be doing that! Why do I know this? Oh! Bc I am a billing provider myself at a private practice, where we make sure to avoid using "extra codes" and stay in compliance to remain credentialed with insurances and CMS! I was so intrigued & was trying to gauge how extensive this problem is before I file a complaint myself!

Any way, 10-15 mins later, the office manager (holly) comes out, and to their saving grace, she was truly amazing! She took the time to listen to the entire saga, without once interrupting or arguing with me, and she completely agreed that I should have only been charged for my refractory exam (for my eye glass prescription), which would go thru my eye insurance & have a $10 copay!

I should also mention that while waiting for the manager and there were 3 other patients that came out and were said about the exact thing "Oh! The MD did an extra exam, so today's visit won't covered by your eye insurance, and it will be $215 bucks" -- these naive patients all paid without questioning it! It was all too obnoxious! It obviously is their standard tactic for them to over-charge for a simple eye exam!

These front office reps / the billing practices seriously need a MAJOR internal review before the place is reported / audited - lose their practice license. --- To properly credit the medical team ~ the eye technician (I wish I could remember his name) did a fantastic job, the MD was alright, and the office manager (Holly) was excellent!

Nurse Bradley is AMAZING! I have had botox before, but was curious about exploring other cosmetic options and Nurse Bradley was so very knowledgeable, answered all of my questions and made me feel so comfortable. I made my decision to try something new right then and there right in the exam chair based on her recommendations. My results are still coming along great, every day I'm noticing differences and cannot wait to see the final results.

One thing is for sure, I will definitely be back to Nurse Bradley, she even turned me on to a new skincare regimen that I am already in love with. Thank you Nurse Sally Bradley and to all of the staff at Key-Whitman who are always so helpful and kind.

I have been a contact wearer for over 10 years. Being a first responder makes it difficult to wear contacts because you have to sleep in them so that you can be out the door ASAP for emergencies. I decide to contact Key Whitman to see about lasik and it was the best decision ever. I went in on a Tuesday to see if I was candidate and I was and I had my lasik the following week on Friday. I have almost perfect vision now and it is a life changer. The front desk, the technicians and the doctors are all top notch and I would recommend key Whitman 100%

The prep nurses are incompetent. I told them I have a phobea of needles and would need the IV in my hand. They said it would hurt more adding to my phobia. They didnt get it right the first time and had to restick me. It hurt both times. Yet, I had an EMT do it b4 and didn't even feel it. Post care instruction was contradictory and incomplete.

My left eye that had surgery is sore. They dudnt tell me how long it would be sore. The nurse said I could read, watch TV, wherever yet they told my husband I could'nt until tomorrow. My husband had to Google if I could open it or if I needed to keep ut closed.

If I could leave zero stars, I would. I never write bad reviews, but I'm extremely upset with the horrible service I received at Key-Whitman.or maybe I should say lack there of since the doctor wouldn't even see me because I was 8 minutes late! My appointment was for 3:15 and I called ahead while stuck in traffic (I left work early and timed out my trip to the office due to weather conditions).

I let the receptionist know I would be a few minutes late due to traffic and she advise me that as long as I got to the office withing a 20 minute window, I would be fine. I got to the Key-Whitman office at 3:23pm, again, my appointment was at 3:15. I was 8 minutes late. Granted, I was the last appointment of the day and I know I was late, but I called and was told as long as I arrived within that 20 minute window, I would be fine.

The girl at the front asked if I wanted to reschedule my appointment after checking with the doctor and I told her no! I'm so disappointed in you Key-Whitman. I received lasik from you 15 years ago and I've been a loyal client since. Ive even referred other clients to you. The fact I was 8 minutes late when I was told if I got to the office within 20 minutes of my appointment is absolutely ridiculous.

I know your time is precious, but so is mine and I had to leave work and be stuck in traffic only to be turned away the minute I got there! This was a waste of my time, but certainly not yours. I will not be coming back and I will be sure not to refer business to you either.

Outstanding! The surgery on my eyelid was More than I could have ever expected. I would recommend Dr Pfeiffer as the most professional and competent Doctor I have ever used in my 85 plus years. Commendable staff and all personnel at the facility.

Horrible experience. Scheduled LASIK surgery a month in advance. Well, fast forward to 15 minutes before my LASIK surgery, I get a call that their machine has errors. Turned around my uber and went home. No explanation of what happened, they advised me they would call me back to re-schedule. Ended up talking to 3 different people (I had to call) to figure out what happened and when I could get re-scheduled. Horrible customer service, everyone I spoke to (with the exception of the last person, Monika) was awful.

Here is why this was a big deal. I had to (1) take PTO for this appointment (2) they do not allow uber to drive you home, so my poor 65 year old mom had to drive from Azle, Texas to come to Dallas (waste of a trip), and (3) they treated me like I was the one being an inconvenience. Surprisingly enough they charge you a cancellation fee if you back out last second! Ended up getting into LASIKPlus - they got me in same day and were able to do my surgery. No regrets in paying a little more. Do not use Key-Whitman for your LASIK - this is not their bread and butter (on top of the horrible patient experience!)

Had cataract surgery in Dallas fall of 2017 after s retina repair Was told when I met with the coordinator to prepay that if the results were not satisfactory I would recieave laser or piggyback lense to get desired results apparently this is not the case. After my surgery my vision was very poor in the operated eye When I asked about correcting it.

I was told they could not correct it snd basically told me to go get glasses? It took me two yrs to figure out I had a severe case of glare in this eye. You would think they would have determined this also as I kept telling them I had a bad haze on the operated eye I recently went back after buying two different scleral lense snd binocular glasses Everyone could get me 20/25 but when I go outside the glare overrides the correction.

In my recent visit dr horlscher was so dismissive it made me sick. Glare is an issue in a big percentage of cataract surgery. She said nothing could be fine(BS) I ask her what kind of lense I had snd she didn't know She was very rude snd had no time for me. I ask yo see dr Whitman but that's not an option? This woman does not need to be a follow up dr.

She was Rude. Now I have to request s new doctor with some desire to help. It's like they want your money but don't expect any help if we put the wrong lense in Very disappointed with dr horlscher. Be careful where you have surgery snd ask if you can see the surgeon if things go wrong As far as help after I guess that's a sales tactic to get your money This is a professional place but dr hoelscher or hell doctor has no business there what a bitch Cliff smith 325/669-0912

I got lasik back on October 30th. I chose Dr Whitman as my brother had received lasik a couple years ago from this office. While I understand what people are saying in terms of feeling like cattle, my perspective is a well run business. To me, I appreciate what felt like a very thorough exam before messing with my 1 pair of eyes. I was, of course, concerned and nervous.

There is a risk, after all. However, the staff was efficient and Dr. Whitman was fantastic during the surgery. The only thing I'd say needs improvement, if I understand medicine correctly, is the medicine they give you for anxiousness (which is optional) I believe takes like 20 minutes or longer to set in? They had me take it and I was on the table within about 10 minutes.

But I can say, almost 3 months later, the best decision I made and I've personally felt well cared for. There is some room for improvement in the "don't rush your patient" arena, but nowadays that has, unfortunately, become the norm. I will say, the zoom call before coming in for my exam was helpful. This is the perfect arena to get all your answers and voice your concerns before ever walking into the office. Edit: 1-20-21.

At follow up meeting. Eyes have healed to 20/15 vision which is what I had with my contacts. There's no guarantee of this but I had 20/20 within a few weeks so this is great news!

Dr. Pfeiffer, Candace, Angie, and the entire staff in this office are the best team I've ever had the pleasure of having ANY medical appointment with. I genuinely feel bad right now because I can't remember all of their names because everyone of them are great. They are always pleasant and professional. All of my appointments happen promptly and I always leave the office feeling as though I got the best care possible.

When an imaging center "declined" my CT scan Dr Pfeiffer's office went above and beyond to make clear not only what I needed, but why it was so important. They handled the issue without me lifting a finger or even discussing it with the imaging center. I wish I could clone them and put them in other doctors offices. and maybe also at my insurance company as well.

Dr. Leslie Pfeiffer is awesome! She is very contentious and thoughtful when visiting with you on their procedures. I found her to be warm and personable. Her approach to your health is refreshing. I was appreciative that she personally contacted me post surgery to inquire about my well being. I can't say that any other physician has done that before. The staff and the facility are top notch!

I lost vision in my left eye back in March and it was a terrifying, stressful time. Ultimately, I required 3 separate surgeries in as many months. While the whole process exacted a toll on me physically and emotionally, I was guided and supported every step of the way by my eye care professionals. Starting with Dr. Fish at Key-Whitman who immediately referred me to an exceptional surgeon.

Today I finally got around to booking my follow-up appointment with Dr. Fish, per my surgeon's instructions. I called and got the "high call volume" message, which recommended to go request an appointment on the website. I did so and received a call back within 10 minutes. I'm so impressed by that. More importantly though, I am 100% positive the gentleman who called was the same who answered my first, panicked call back in March.

I will never forget his voice. He was so kind and patient and got me in immediately. He calmed me down, listened to me, and set me on my journey to regain my sight. There really are no words to express how much that tiny interaction meant to me. I wish I knew his name so I could praise him personally. Anyway, thank you Key-Whitman for providing me a sense of calm and competence during a difficult time. I was so scared and you made me feel seen, heard, and respected. You are exceptional, and I am grateful for all your help.

Key Whitman has gone from a highly reputable eye clinic to a cattle car, I don't give a damn about anything but money operation. Some years ago the practice was turned over to a business manager and the focus is now on upselling patients more than treating them. When employees are deemed to be making too much money they are dismissed regardless of past successes and it shows in the attitude of those coming up behind them. Ultimately it's the patients who suffer. As they've grown in size their service has shrunk. Customer beware.

This place is awful. They heard you through like cattle. I had an initial consultation and I was consulted with by 8 different people telling me contradicting Information about my eyesight and what surgery would be best for me. In the end, they charged me a $150 for what should have just been a consultation. Lasikplus does all of this for free. I had the overwhelming feeling that I had just been hustled by scam artists. My surgery would have been $15000 replied because they chose to scam me out of a $150, I will be taking my business elsewhere.

When I went in for a cataract evaluation I needed glasses for distance, thats it. After paying for 'upgraded 'lens, and having the surgery, I now need one pair of glasses to see my phone, a different pair of glasses to see my computer, and still need glasses for distance. It's not that they did the surgery wrong, its just they don't see to care about your vision, only filling a slot on the surgery list and telling you why you should spend thousands more for upgraded lens. Nice people but this is not a medical organization, it is a pure sales organization

I took my father to see Dr. Whitman for cataract surgery. The office was clean & the staff were friendly. My dad is pretty happy with the outcome. However, at the end of the 1st surgery, I was unpacking my dad's stuff and found a card from the team at the surgery center. I was surprised to find a picture glued into the card of my dad, under sedation w/ Dr. Whitman smiling behind him.

In the picture, my dad looks dead (he's passed out, head rolled back), he's wearing a patient gown and surgery cap. There is ZERO reason for this picture to ever be taken - the focus at surgery time should be on surgery. The picture gave me such an icky, violated feeling, I didn't even share it with my dad. I called to voice my concern and was told that they would tell the surgery center. 2nd surgery, another creepy guantanomo-esque picture.

I spoke to the manager and I shared that this felt unethical, and she argued that my dad technically consented to the picture when he signed the overall consent, that Dr. Whitman thinks "it's funny", and that they're not going to stop. I asked her to please let Dr. Whitman know that there is at least one person out there who doesn't think this is at all funny.

I encouraged the manager to talk to the staff about maybe taking the picture before the patient is passed out.or just using a picture of the staff instead. Please be aware that if you choose this place, you or your family member will most likely have a picture taken while under sedation, without express consent and for no purpose.

I LOVE MY FACE! Specifically, I love what Dr. Kaylam did to my face! She is a.m.a.z.i.n.g! My BOTOX results are one for the books! I am so pleased. With my "11s" and the canyon running across my forehead gone, the overall appearance of my face/skin is so much softer. She recommended a small amount of Botox on my crowsfeet as well, and it took the years right off without looking plastic.

She has a way with her injectables. I also really appreciated her and the office staffs professional mannerisms. "Goldie" made the injections practically painless. I will definitely be back. Jennie P

I went here for my very first pair of glasses because they were supposed to accept my vision insurance which covers one annual eye exam (except I'm to pay $50 for the dilation). Turns out they don't accept this insurance. Which they told me after my exam even though I asked up front and provided them with my insurance card. So I had to pay 3x the price of an exam at any regular place for an eye exam that was super rushed (none of my questions or concerns were addressed either).

Therefore my distance prescription portion of my bifocals was incorrect, yet they won't adjust it unless I pay more cash for another exam. I'll be getting another exam elsewhere to fix it.

Dr Kalyam is wonderful! She is very kind and listens to my concerns. I have had Botox for an Instbrow lift and she's performed laser IPL. The superficial veins on my cheeks are completely gone in just one treatment! Looking forward to additional treatments and eventual brow lift surgery.
