This is a very difficult review for me to write. And it's taken me a while. Let me preface. My eldest grand-daughter is accident prone. She is very tall and lanky and maybe that contributes to it. She came home one Sunday complaining of abdominal pain. She is 11. My daughter, her mother, who was very composed thought perhaps that these were premenstrual cramps or episodes of gas.

So she watched her. And the pain continued to increase. My grand-daughter could keep nothing down. No food, no fluids. Very freaking scary. She made the decision to take her to Childrens. Very early in the AM. Got there, got checked out and received a diagnosis. Appendicitis. Very scary for her and me. We know NO ONE that has had an issue with their appendix.

No one in our family, close or extended. Anyway. Surgery was scheduled. Laparoscopic surgery was performed by a team of FANTASTIC medical professionals. My grand-daughter came home the next day. I wasn't there. My daughter tells me that everyone who came into contact with my G-baby was absolutely wonderful. And I'll stop here. Don't hesitate. This place is the absolute perfect setting for a child in need or hurting.

I brought my 8 month old in because of a fever. The waiting rooms were busy and the whole time we were there never did I see anyone come clean the area the chairs nothing. Theres coughing children that can't wear masks so that was a red flag for me. When they gave us a room the bed was wet. They said it had been cleaned it but they just threw a sheet on top so we never sat on it.

Then when I refused to allow them to put a catheter in my daughter to get a urine sample they threatened to call CPS. They never asked about her teething which is why she had the fever, they just jumped straight to oh she probably has a UTI because she is unvaccinated. They sent us home with prescriptions for tylonal and moltrine. And she is fine. If you're an anti vax parent go in with your guard up because they will try you.

I had to bring my 12 year old son here to do an ultrasound of his kidneys and bladder (radiology department). My phone call to arrange the appointment was my first great impression; going to a hospital can be overwhelming especially with a parking garage involved but she gave me the clearest instructions of where to park and walk to get me right to the radiology department. COVID-related, they have you change out of your mask and into one of their disposable masks upon entering the hospital.

Your temp is taken as you walk by what looks like a TV monitor. The radiology waiting room was nice. There were magazines, a TV for adults, and a separate TV for the kids (although we were the only ones there). We only waited a couple of minutes before being taken back. The tech was very nice to my son and gave clear directions. Overall, easy and pleasant process. Also, a nice and bright hospital with lots of natural light shining through. It did not feel like your average depressing hospital.

My son was rushed here because he couldn't breathe, face was changing colors, wasn't eating, drinking, and overall had a vast decline in a very short period of time because of croup. They knew what it was right away and helped make my son not only healthy, but comfortable. Would highly recommend.

These hard working front line workers were ALL so kind to us when we went through the emergency room. They gave my daughter the FULL package leaving me feeling there could have NOT been any better care anywhere in our case! They gave my daughter every and all tests possible before signing us back into a world of uncertainty! Thank you to all the Wonderful, concerned and caring staff at Children's! I will never take my child anywhere else in what at the time seems to be an emergency situation. God Bless you all and keep you safe during these most difficult times!

I've had to stay for a few weeks atleast once a year and I love the friendly atmosphere better than ECMC they are scary

This review is really for Oishei's outpatient surgery center, which is technically in the Conventus Building next door to the Hospital. The outpatient center is new, clean and brightly colored. You can access it without going through the hospital, which is a plus especially during the height of cold/flu/RSV season. No food and drink is allowed in the waiting area.

Since patients have to fast before the surgery, this rule is really to help them, since it makes things harder for them, especially if they're very young, to see other people eating and drinking if they haven't had anything since the night before. The staff in the ambulatory surgery center is great at putting parents and children at ease as much as possible.

There are toys in the waiting room, and TVs in the pre-op/post-op rooms, to help keep kids occupied. Everyone was friendly with my son, and gave us parents clear information about the process, and what we could expect. A TV screen in the waiting room lists patient numbers and statuses, so you can see if your child is still in the OR, or out of the OR and moved to a recovery room.

We were checked in on by multiple people while we were in post-op and had multiple opportunities to ask questions before we were discharged. While I hope that my son won't have to be a repeat customer (or at least a frequent one), our experience at Oishei was as positive as it could be given the circumstances.

After a perfectly healthy pregnancy and a planned home birth I ended up needing to be transferred to Oishei because there was meconium and some swelling issues. I had a successful forceps delivery and my daughter was then transferred to the NICU with my partner for some breathing issues. Once at the NICU the resident on call mentioned to my partner a cooling treatment they might want to do on my daughter but he was being rushed out of the room (so they could take care of her breathing issue) and he told the doctor he definitely did not want her to do anything without consulting him.

She said she would get back to him with more information about it after they finished dealing with the breathing issue. After almost an hour when I was finally done and he and I were allowed back in the room we found our daughter already covered in EEG wires, and on a cooling pad. Not only did they not get our consent when we specifically asked for it but it ends up our daughter didn't even meet the criteria for the cooling treatment.

When this was brought up to the resident she made it clear that she had made huge incorrect assumptions about our daughters health based solely on the fact that we planned a home birth and had a midwife. This happened OVER AND OVER AGAIN throughout our stay in the NICU. We expressed our horror with the staff over their disregard and apparent prejudice against us and asked them to communicate with us about everything they wanted to do to our daughter but they continued not communicating about new procedures and tried to blame our midwife for manipulating us into disagreeing with them. We have filed complaints with the board of health and are doing everything we can to prevent this kind of prejudice for future patients.

Some of the best nurses and staff. Mary O'shea of the dialysis team is the best asset. She is loving and kind.

I feel 2 completly different ways about this hospital. I really enjoyed my child's doctor. She was friendly and funny and really made my child feel comfortable. The rest of the staff was nice and welcoming too. However, I must say that it was the dirtiest medical facility I had ever seen. The waiting room was so discussing that we felt uneasy just sitting down.

There where 2 areas of vomit that hadn't been cleaned up in the 2 hours we had sat waiting. There was trash galore all over the floors and seats. What baffled me was how staff members would walk by it with a blind eye.

This place is beautiful. I love the decor, the people and all the services. The doctors & nurses are very respectable, understanding an also, accommodating.

They have an excellent maternity ward. Not knowing of my personal expieriance but from my best friends. Thats where i want to have a baby if i ever decide to do that again.

My niece has been here since she was transported from Sisters Hospital at three months old. The NICU and now the PICU staff are wonderful, no complaints as their taking great care of my babygirl. The staff are accommodating and have never had a problem working around the visitation hours as needed. The hospital itself is huge, I believe 12 floors to be exact.

Every floor is color coded as well as labeled a different thing and there's signs everywhere showing what is what and where everything is. They have valet services as well as a parking ramp located by the emergency entrance on the side.

Had to take my son on a Sunday. This new facility is beautiful! We parked in a private lot right across the street, but valet parking is available as well. Security check in at the front desk made us feel welcome, Tim Hortons is in the lobby- which is spacious. The staff was all wonderful and friendly, made my son and I feel very comfortable. Everything was explained very clearly at discharge, all in all we were only in the E.R. for a total of 90 minutes! Which is amazing! Would definitely bring him back here, they took very good care of us

My son was born and transferred here being 10 weeks premature. he spent 4 1/2 months in the hospital and i beg everyone DO NOT BRING YOUR CHILD HERE. lack of communication, doctors misdiagnosing problems, nurses telling us "well he'll be blind and deaf and paralyzed, you won't be able to take him to mcdonald's or play baseball" while he was only 4 days old. follow up appointments have been just as bad, cancelling appointments without telling us, there is nothing good about this hospital.

The nurses and secretaries were very nice, professional, and knowledgeable. However the help desk did not know how to direct us to our destination. Arrive early to find your doctor's office in this maze.

This is our first time visiting the new hospital and although it is grand and spacious they seem ill staffed to handle the increased volume. Nurse at registration said it was the normal busy. Came with child with lower right abdomen pain, thankfully it wasn't appendicitis because it took nearly 4 hours to see a doctor.

What can i say i love this hospital. They saved my sons life. ESPECIALLY the PICU they ARE Heaven Sent. For God has given them Gifts to SAVE LIVES.Not enough words or love 4 that amazing team.

The old children's hospital on Bryant street recently relocated to this largely extravagant building located on our downtown medical district. The location is superb, but the enormity makes it hard to navigate your way around. It's almost too big for my liking. Parking is on street or in a paid ramp or lot. Lots of pay for parking options available nearby.

There is a new Joes Deli (yaaaas!) and a tim hortons located inside. This is a great convenience to families of patients or visitors. Hospital staff is pretty nice for the most part. I had a recent visit to the NICU department. Security was super helpful in figuring out where I was going. The NICU receptionist was friendly and helpful as well as other staff on the same department.

There was one employee, however (I think her name was Joanne or Joan), who rubbed me the wrong way. She was very brusque and dismissive, like it was a bother to tell me how to navigate to a particular room. I won't be returning to this hospital again unless one of my friends has another child or I have one of my own (by God's good graces that won't be happening anytime soon).

Overall this is a great addition to our medical campus. The old Children's Hospital grew too large for its older and much smaller location, and this allows for better treatment and more room for even more patients.
