Since 1974, Katahdin Valley Health Center KVHC has offered best quality, cost effective primary health care services to community members throughout the Katahdin Region. Our health centers are very much like private physicians' offices where a person calls to schedule an appointment for a range of reasons to be seen by a medical or dental supplier within a timely manner.
Services
Aroostook Agency on Aging - Medicare, nutrition, elderly care, assisted living, retired senior volunteer program. Aroostook County Action Program (ACAP) - Transportation, food assistance, home energy assistance, tobacco cessation (Support in Quitting Smoking). Community Health and Counseling Services - Information, list of agencies, children's services, adult mental health services and home health services for Maine communities. Eastern Area Agency on Aging - Disability resources, nutrition, elderly care and food insecurity.
Treatment of Injury Open for injuries on a no-appointment-necessary basis. Our medical providers are expert at treating work injuries and are highly experienced with workers compensation issues. Emphasis is on maintaining a high level of communication with the employer, and expeditious return of the employee to work.
A Federally Qualified Health Center's (FQHC) mission is to provide high quality, comprehensive care for individuals and families regardless of their ability to pay. FQHCs are community owned, nonprofit businesses governed by a board of directors comprised of area volunteers. FQHCs receive a federal grant under Section 300 of the Public Health Service Act.
A fundamental activity of KVHC includes operating clinical training programs in affiliation with institutions of higher education. These partnerships establish the framework needed to train and educate students who are working towards a degree in the health care professions. These individuals share in our mission and vision to serve medically underserved populations in rural communities.
The Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) is our standard of healthcare. In a PCMH facility, each patient builds a relationship with a personal physician who is committed to keeping you healthy. Your and your care team are cooperatively involved in your ongoing health care. in other words, YOU are part of the care team at KVHC!

I'm writing this review for my partner Karl Jurson who saw the doctor on 06/01/ 22 and unfortunately after calling your clinic repeatedly requesting alternative medications that his insurance company would cover you never called in the proper ones. And to boot, you called in ones that he didn't even need. Very rarely do I write a bad review for any services but this is by far the worst care ever.

I wish I could give less than one star. The pharmacy is great, but the clinic? Not good. They say first impressions are everything. Well, reception was some of the most rude disrespectful treatment I've ever received. "No appointment?" You're a "walk-in?" Now you get treated like a second class citizen. I get it, no walk-ins before 10am (their busiest time, convenient.) Fine, but she didn't need to be so hostile about it. I'd rather drive 45 minutes to Patten than deal with these malakas.

Impossible to reach on the phone, my neighbor spent days trying to call. Than went for a covid test after calling than being told to schedule the appointment online. He showed up at 7 was told to wait till 8 than at 8 was told to wait till 10. He went home out of aggrivation. No one should be told to wait 3 hours in a parking lot. This isn't the first time, they've done this type of thing.
I understand being understaffed, but at least hire an answering service for medical phonecalls and don't tell someone waiting for a covid test to go shopping around town for a few hours

The doctors here are great and the pharmacy is as well. The secretaries and nurses are very nice and so are the people at the front desk. My whole family has had mostly positive experiences here at KVHC, with the exception of a few ignorant doctors who take walk in appointments. I had pneumonia and the doctor suggested I should just get a new mattress instead of suggesting I go to the hospital. The second walk in doctor I saw was very straightforward and said you need an x-ray or CT scan and sent me to the hospital. That was in March of 2021
