I have been wearing glasses for about the last 20 years which started with a bifocal and ended with a trifocal lenses with Astigmatism. Within the last year my right eye became so blurred I became legally blind. It was the cause of a cateract. Thanks to Dr. Kovach and his expert diagnosis along with his expert recommendations to choose the right IOL Lens along with Lassik Surgery I can see without glasses and this has been a game changer. This procedure was safe and painless and the staff was very friendly and professional. If you want the best go with Dr. Kovach! Jeff Corson

The staff and doctors are friendly, but I arrived on time for every appointment and spent over 5 total hours in the waiting room for 3 appointments. They need to fix something with the way they schedule because waiting over an hour after you arrive on time for your appointment time to be seen should not be the norm. The smile procedure worked, but it was more painful than expected, and I definitely could not go to work or do anything the next day.

They admittedly sent an unnecessary prescription to the pharmacy, which resulted in me wasting money. Again, the people who work here seem like nice people, but there are serious organizational and administrative issues that give the impression they don't value their patients.

Visited Kovach yesterday. Had the opportunity to meet Dr. Kovach who answered all of my questions about the SMILE procedure and really took the time to educate me on the benefits of it over long-term use of contacts. Frankie was very nice and made the scheduling aspect of the visit very easy and enjoyable. I now have a timeline of appointments for my SMILE procedure and I'm looking forward to returning to KOVACH.

Dr Mateen Niyaze and dr Saad very compassionate doctors. They know what they are doing and they don't let their patients wait that long. My mother (nafees sultan) and my dad( gulam Mohammed) both got their cataract surgery done by dr Mateen and dr saad checked them for other stuff. I would recommend people to only see these two doctors.

It was a longer wait to get my appointment started than I had hoped but not really longer wait time than any other doctor I have been to see. Very thorough eye exam and great technology used. Pleasant and helpful staff. Busy place.

The biggest mistake I made last year was to choose the KOVACH Eye Institute to do my cataract surgery with Dr. Kovach. The office is unprofessional and rude. I only chose it because it was close to home. Laser cataract surgery, which I did, has over a 95% success rate. I had two separate surgeries for my eyes, and both failed. My left eye became almost blind! Dr. Kovach performed cataract surgery on my right eye in May and while my distance vision has become clear, my reading vision became worse.

I chose the most expensive lens, "Vivity, " which was supposed to fix both distance and reading vision. It cost $6,000 per eye including surgery. According to the information sheet provided to me, it is "Excellent" for Distance Vision Correction and Near Vision Correction. Dr. Kovach did not help me choose the lens and later blamed me for choosing the wrong one when the surgery failed.

I only met the doctor for one minute before my surgery. Then Dr. Kovach said he can use a multifocal lens on my left eye to compensate for my right eye's bad reading vision. I choose to trust him again to do cataract surgery on my left eye. I had my left eye surgery in June. This was a disaster because I became almost blind for both my reading and distance vision.

I asked why the surgery failed. However the doctor refused to give me any reason for the surgery failing. Then he suggested that he can useLasik to correct my vision on my left eye. I had a few follow up visits with Dr Kovach. His assistant did vision tests at every visit. But the prescriptions each time were different. In October he concluded that it is impossible for him to correct my vision.

But he very rudely claimed that if I came to see him again he would call the police. After this I went to Lasik Plus in Oakbrook. Over there I found that the doctor not the assistant did the vision test and the doctor quickly found my correct prescription. They successfully did Lasik for my left eye to correct my reading and distance vision. Further, KOVACH Eye Institute is not providing me the complete medical records. I called many times, they are not picking up the phone anytime I call and not return my message.

I've been going to an ophthalmologist since I've been 12 so I know how these work, but the workers here seem to think I am stupid. The whole experience is sketchy. The assistant tried to tell me my new prescription before I even saw a doctor, which was the wrong prescription (and led to me panicking and crying that my eyes had gotten way worse than they were).

The doctor didn't even give me a real prescription at the end, just an eyeglasses prescription with contact lenses in the fine print (I later found out this is a sketchy practice). I was then charged a lot of money because they didn't inform me this place was out of network even though I asked at least 3 times to confirm. I also had to sign some sort of waiver when I left.

After a year was up and my fake contacts prescription had expired, I called to get it renewed since I was out of contacts and was left with no prescription. My old ophthalmologist would've just renewed my prescription over the phone. Kovach eye institute held my prescription hostage and said I would have to come in to get refitted, even though they had no appointments open that week (I only had about 9 contacts left). I've seriously never had a worse experience with an eye doctor in my life and will never be coming back here. Beware.

I'd been referred to Kovach Eye Institute several years ago when I had a retinal issue. My experience then was so positive that, when I decided I needed an ophthalmologist, they were the 1st place I called. Dr. Bill Shaw was personable & professional, and I already knew their facility was excellent. It was quickly determined that I had cataracts, and I've now already had the 1st surgery on my left eye by Dr. Kevin Kovach.

Everyone was kind and efficient, much effort was made to have me feel comfortable & unstressed, and the surgery was so quick, painless, and successful, that I've been gratefully gushing about it for the last few days. I know there are no guarantees, and I was given a very realistic view of what could and would happen, but all went very smoothly, and my vision in the eye that was repaired is better than I ever had before. Thank you to Dr. Kovach and his wonderful team!

I had a wonderful experience during my visit. The staff is very friendly, and the check in process was quick and easy. I barely had to wait at all to be seen by the doctor. Dr. Ali listened attentively to everything I had to say, and she exactly what my issue was. Overall, Kovach Eye Institue offers great eye care with exceptional customer service from their staff. Extra points as well for having an awesome fish tank in the waiting room.
