If I could give 0 stars I would. But there isn't an option for that. I took my daughter there Friday to be treated for an infection on her leg. She was called into triage for her weight, temperature, and blood pressure and sent back to the waiting room. 5 hours later, she was never called to be treated by a doctor. After having waited for so long, we got up and left. I treated her leg myself.

This used to be a great hospital. Now the staff is too busy on their phones;lack of empathy and compassion for patients and family. The I don't care attitude is rampant. Patients are not a priority. Being short staffed is not an excuse.

I was admitted to the 6th floor following a surgical procedure on June 1. My nurses, Ms Tammy and Ms Jessica were amazing. They catered to my needs and ensured I was comfortable while I received everything I needed for my visit and prepped me for what I would need and once discharged. If I could bring them home with me, I would have been elated to do so.

From the nurses to the CNAs and every other person that entered room 6206, y'all really made my stay a pleasant one. You guys really rock and define the spirit of healing. Thank you for all that you did to care for me and also making sure my mom was comfortable while she stayed with me.

My 82 year old dad was having surgery at this hospital. I came from out of town with my 6 yr old grandson to drive my folks from Alexandria to Baton Rouge not realizing this hospital has a ridiculous policy of no children. So, I spent all day in the parking garage with my grandson while my dad was having surgery. A very nice lady who had informed me of the hospital policy did allow me to bring my grandson in a couple of times to use the restroom and we would go back to the garage.

At some point that entrance was locked and all traffic had to enter through the main entrance. No problem, or so I thought. When I entered with my grandson to once again allow him to use the restroom I was told no. The lady at the desk was very mean, rude, mouthy and unprofessional. I tried to explain that he is 6 yrs old and he needs a toilet. She didn't care.

She said I would have to take him down the street to the Walgreens. How absurd. Is this the hospital's policy? Is this how they treat kids? Send a 63 yr old grandfather with a 6 yr old grandson to Walgreens? Is Walgreens aware of this policy? I had nowhere I could have left my grandson. What was I to do? Let him use the bathroom in the parking garage behind a car?

Maybe THAT should be the hospital's policy. The doctors and nurses were wonderful people. They were wonderful with my folks and my dad's surgery was successful. But I will never recommend this hospital to anyone. If they will treat elderly people and kids this way, then I want nothing to do with them and everyone I know will know how they treat people. Maybe it's all about the money.

My son was in a terrible accident last week and been in ICU. All his nurses are awesome in ICU now that he is in a private room and can not stand on his two feet cuz his pelvis was shattered he called for a nurse to bring his medication and she had an attitude. If you can not treat as if they are your own children then you should not be a nurse. I have called up there to talk to a charge nurse and literally they keep putting me on hold for 30 minutes or more without coming to answer the phone. When it comes to my child I will continue to want a different nurse than what he has.

My mother had abdominal surgery at OLOL and was admitted to the 6th floor after. Very substandard nursing care here. It took 10+ hours to have an IV restarted after it came out on a post op patient that wasn't eating or drinking yet and was supposed to be getting continuous IV fluids. Response time to calls is so ridiculous we had to start keeping a log.

And then when you go to the nurses station to see what the problem is there are multiple people just sitting there. And they like to say "I never got the message about the call." Wow. I've been a nurse for over 25 years and this is poor care. I do not feel safe leaving my family member here alone. We have hired sitters to sit with her at night to ensure she gets the care she needs. We will not be returning here for any type of care after she is discharged.

One time the best I have been here 5 days and the most important thing is visitor protocols. Not enough help but protocols more important than the patient care my wife has been removed twice all in the name of protocols I would like to meet the group that wrote them

Had a couple of procedures, a surgery and one overnight stay in the past year and a half. Only had one sorry nurse I had to complain about. But all 50 or so of my other interactions with staff were great. Only Our Lady of the Lake Hospital and if you are a female Woman's Hospital would I recommend in Baton Rouge.

They always do a fantastic job of making everyone's stay safe and secure. All the people who work are very professional and very nice to deal with. It's always a pleasure to come here! Thanks Our Lady of the Lake!

Very disappointed in olol. This was My favorite hospital, despite not wanting to have to come to a hospital period. The atmosphere is completely different from what we're use to, and not in a good way. I do appreciate the nice young man at the Guest services desk for such great customer service. Each time We have came here he's been such a great help.

He went out of his way to make sure we were good. I will be sure to get his name because he was the difference that we experienced at this hospital for the GOOD and he should be recognized for the bright light that's shining from within him.*** update*** His name is Darius! Thank you for all you do! You deserve recognition!

My poor brother had surgery yesterday and needed pain meds. He was on the 4th floor. His nurse button wouldn't work. He walked up the long hall way to the nurses desk twice to get assistance. No one came. I called the hospital to get help. No one came. The overnight nurse finally showed up 2 hours later to give him his medication. Oh and the button was fixed by the day nurse calling maintenance.

The nurse wasn't even checking ALL vitals. It's def a hit or miss with this place. Some nurses were professional and others were NOT. I don't know what happened to the Lake but it's full of incompetent rude staff. Appears from all these reviews it's the new EKL! I told him to go to Ochsner!

This hospital is ridiculous I came at 6pm and it's 10:53pm and I'll haven't even been seen yet. The worker walking round laughing and talking. All the patients that need help that are in pain is just sitting in the lobby for hours with no one to even come check to see if you alright. I wouldn't recommend this hospital for my dog to get care at our lady of the lake on Essen lane. I only put me star cause I had to they not even one star.

Don't ever bring your elderly parents to this hell hole. My 86 year old father is been in the ER bed for 20 hours. Will not give him water even though he is begging. He has bed sores. Always take them to BR General Hospital.

The worst hospital ever! 1 ER room, 3 other rooms and not one ounce of care or concern at this hospital, everyone (but 1 CSN ) were the rudest people I've ever encountered. You are totally ruining everyone's day just by being there, and the sure let you know it! All of The floors we were on were less then half full, so overworked is not their issue here! Go out of state before you go here!

This is the worst hospital I've ever been to. Not only did they literally do absolutely NOTHING for me when I went in February, but the way they calculate your income is insane to me. They use income you no longer have regardless of your current financial situation, miscalculate your yearly earnings, and refuse to re-evaluate your account even when you lose all of the income they used to determine your ability to pay. Further, their payment plans are astronomical and even if you make a payment every single month, if it is not the high amount they decide they send you to collection.

This was the worst ER system I've ever experienced. My husband fell face first on concrete and being taken to Oschner whom we use. But due to his injury. They were unable to help him. Arrived there at 5:30. Received ct scan n pain shot due to neck fracture at C1 n broken nose. Rest of time (3) hours was just laying there waiting for a transfer to Our Lady of the Lake.

Mind you 7 minutes away. So at 12:19 I arrive in their ER. Waiting for hubby. After about an hour I ask for help and was only told go stand in that line. Well. They had no rooms and we were out in the ER hallway with about 12 more beds. Several different Drs came by. But we never saw the spinal surgeon. They wouldn't even give him water. Cause they did know what to do for him.

Well when they started shifting us around and put more beds by us. We said! Get me a wheelchair I'm leaving. So 4 hrs later n nothing done for him. Our discharge papers were ready in 5 minutes. And we drove back to Diamondhead Ms at 4:30 in the morning with a neck brace and told to call his neck Dr! So you tell me why I should even give y'all a 1 star.

Terrible. Worst hospital in the Baton Rouge area. Very few of the nursing staff cares at all. My fiance is an inpatient here and she's in constant pain from a bad fall with broken bones and can't get any help, sympathy or relief. Tell your ambulance driver to take you to Ochsner. I'm about to be the first person in history to call 911 from a hospital room! Zero stars!

The night shift nursing staff is terrible. My mother is inpatient here with COVID and we currently need assistance with a machine that keeps going off. I paged the nurse station and they stated someone will be here soon. Nobody came. An hour later I walked down to the nurse station and asked for help in my mother's room. The girl stated they would send the nurse down here.

It has now been another hour and nobody has come. We have now been waiting 2 hours listening to a loud machine go off in our ears at 10 o'clock at night. WORST STAFF EVER. The only reason I'm allowing this place to have a 1 star is because the day shift nursing staff is the BEST! They need a raise! The night shift on the other hand need better management.

I was admitted a week ago and was giving a certain type of life threatening medication that is still in transit. My Doctor told me I can come to the ER to get the shot. Well these two days have been hell. From the start of the front desk clerk tithe nurses. It's not my fault I got a rare blood type disease but the level of respect and unprofessional is beyond me.

How can this happened. I have to take the shot before 7:30 and still have not been called or anything. Not to mention the front desk said if she come up here again she going to leave. Still upset and waiting.

I see so many terrible reviews, but they do not reflect my experience with them. Of course the ER took forever to get to me, that is how they work. At such a large hospital, they have to work through a large volume of patients. The nurse that attended me was amazing. He was an ex-combat medic and was extremely competent and friendly. I was there for a kidney stone so I was in an extreme amount of pain and felt very taken care of.

They also referred me to a great urologist that eased my pain to almost nothing. I have no qualms with our Lady of the Lake. I also just received a very honest letter about a cyber attack on their database. They were extremely transparent and assured us they paid the hacker's demands for the data to be destroyed. They could have easily covered it and I would have never known.

I had spinal simulator implant on August 11, 2020, by Dr. Kyle Girod. He chose to keep me overnight. The nurses were all sweet, as they kept bringing me medication as prescribed When I asked to get up to use the bathroom, I was told I had to wait for pt. I did go once on a bed pan. However every time I coughed I would urinate and pt did not make it to my room till August 12, 2020 possibly 10am. PT can tell you how many washcloths soaked in urine they removed from my bed when they got me up.

This was totally uncalled for leaving me in this urine. I do remember telling everyone that walked in that I need to be changed but no one responded to my request. Therefore your housekeeping and aids were unacceptable Also by Thursday I was vomiting, running fever and cough profusely. My primary care sent me to ER to get tested. BRGH did chest xray and confirmed pneumonia, however they did not have testing supplies unless I was being admitted so I was sent home with prescription musinex and arithimycin.

By Sunday I was tested positive at stat care clinic. I truly believe I contracted covid from your hospital. And on August 19, 2020 my husband was tested positive as well. Please know that I feel OLOL is not a sanitary hospital.

I am laying in this horrible nightmare of a hospital Observation room. I came Monday. What I thought was a boil come under my left armpit Sunday March 2, 2020. I had never experienced this before. After I was initially there I didn't stay in the Emergency waiting room but a couple of hours arriving at 10:15 am. They took me in a like "Urgent Care".

They did do proper test and diagnosed me with Cellulitis. That was the beginning of my nightmare here. Following day they kept antibiotics, and IV solution. They treat you like your in a serious bad area of a 3rd. World country. This cellulitis has gotten so bad they came in this morning said they were fixing to come Lance it. This was 9:45 am at 3:50 pm they finally came in and lanced it.

I have been laying in a bed since Monday Tonight it's 9:50 pm on Wednesday night. The night shift does care more about you. I ask to walk to the bathroom to use the bathroom no bathroom's in the room. I have not bathed since Sunday. I have told them I stink. The nurse on duty tonight I told her I have been asking for some clean ups to wipe myself I have been sweating, no way to wash.

She did say "oh no", they haven't given you anything. I said I ask they say ok and never come back. Tonight I was staring I said what can I do to get some food? She said "oh no", no one have given you a menu? I said no I brought a bottle of water and have filled it up with tap water. I am breaking down I have not been in a hospital like this situation in 15 years and I could not complain.

I am dirty, hot, beg to go to the restroom, beg for something for pain. I stay in pain more so than don't they give 5mg norco when I ask about every 4 hours I get about every 5. I have cried am in pain have a Hugh packing I prob my arm with a thin plastic pillow, blood, all kinds of solutions on my bed they have not given a clean sheet, pillow case for this thin plastic pillow.

I am checking myself out of here in the morning. I have never in my Entire life had this type of neglect in health care, neglect in helping me, this reminds me of them abusive Nursing homes that totally neglect the patients. I am so dirty I stink. I am hot. I beg and I hear ok and it continues. Only good I can say this night nurse and a couple ppl and this night physicians assistant have been much better than the day crew. This has been very stressful very concerning for me. I would never put myself in this bad situation again.

This used to be the best hospital in the city, but not anymore! It takes hours to put patients in a room and the hospital is EXTREMELY loud. The Doctors really don't LISTEN to you, they just hear you. Without calling a name.the hospital on Bluebonnet is MUCH better. OLOL has become the worst hospital in Baton Rouge.

The ER is awful. Wait time is ridiculous and my husband and I have been a few times and just felt like an inconvenience to the doctors. However, my PCP, Michelle Duhe has been seeing me for almost four years and she is the best doctor I could ever ask for. I look forward to my doctor appointments with her! She's the sweetest woman, words can't even describe how phenomenal she is. I am sad that her nurse left because I loved her too.

This hospital transferred my mother to a behavioral hospital without the families' permission. I signed papers thinking she was being admitted to OLOL. They are helping another facility make money. I will never go to this hospital again. Beware of OLOL.

October 8, 2017 Response to Our Lady of the Lake Human Resource Department I want the Louisiana Board of Health and the Joint Commission to know my safety concerns at The Lady of the Lake Hospital. My sole purpose is not to generate money for a law suit or to obtain my contract back. My main complaint is the safety for other agency nurses and the patients on Post Op Surgical 2 floor.

Any nurse who would go up on this floor is in jeopardy for losing their license. POOR TRAINNG and RACIALLY BIASED staff are ingredients for failure in epic proportions. The most important thing is the safety of the patients, which there is none due to the above. I have been a nurse for twenty one years and have worked in the ICU, ICU stepdown and medical/surgical/telemetry units.

These are very busy units and require an experienced nurse to perform efficiently. Even with my experience, if I would have stayed, I would have made medication errors with the training I received. I was on the Post Op surgical floor 2. AGENCY NURSES: PLEASE DO NOT GET A CONTRACT AT OLOL!

My experience here is with the pediatric emergency room. I have nothing but good things to say. Every last person that I encountered was compassionate and helpful. The only down side is that there are not enough beds on the side where you come which means you take a very long walk to the back up area. If you have a sick baby it won't be so hard to hold them but if it's your too big for arms child then either your sick kid has to walk or you have to find a way to carry them. Other than that, my experience was a great one regardless of the circumstances.

Their mission is to help the elderly and poor. In fact, they help make the elderly poor. How in the world does a Catholic hospital continue to harass and threaten my 80+ year old parents and have no compassion or financial assistance? How can they note take responsibility for their many mistakes? I've asked to speak to the nuns so many times but I just get business people who are good at turning a profit. Here's the crazy part - Ochsner will work with you and not threaten the elderly poor.

Do not go here if you are elderly unless you have a lawyer or doctor in the family. You'll be pushed out after the 3 day testing profit period and be told its all about the right level of care. Such a disappointment, apparently the Blessed Virgin statue out front is just for show. Sister Kathleen, call me - I've been waiting to talk to you for years.

5 Star, but for me 5 is underrated. This Hospital and the entire ENT, ICU Team went beyond the call to bring me from ZERO to discharge, not to hurry along the process, of we need the bed for more patients, of truly caring for the healing. Hats off to this organization.

This hospital is great very wonderful, I'm originally from opelousas louisiana and had to to to lady of the lake to find out what was wrong with my son they found the problem and I can not thank them enough. I a few weeks later after we were discharge from the hospital they sent my son a card with all the nurse signature that was really thankful out of all the hospitals this is the only one that was very neat clean and full of very nice and happy people. Thank you olol

During a May business trip to Baton Rouge, i never expected that 2 of those nights would be spent at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. I woke up the evening before to certain medical symptoms, but fully expected to work the next day, drive to the airport, and fly home. But after a precautionary ambulance ride, and a positive test result, my schedule was thrown up in the air.

My most distinct memory was hearing Gayle break into tears and saying that she just couldn't imagine her life without me. Thank heavens for good genes and insurance, because hospital stays aren't cheap (even with out-of-pocket maximums). All through this thankfully brief "adventure", I was super impressed with the staff here and how well I was treated and taken care of.

Even the hospital food was pretty good. My favorite moment was when a Catholic Priest came up to see me and asked if I wanted to pray. Is there something you're not telling me? was my reply.

The couple of times we've had to have something done here, the staff and doctors are so friendly and kind. A person really feels like they care.
