Personal care at Laurel OB/GYN for women accounts for our mental, physical, and emotional health. Laurel OB/GYN is an independent practice currently composed of an all-female OB/GYN team. We've provided women's health services in Asheville for over 33 years. Throughout this time, we've cared for thousands of women of all life stages; informing, guiding, and supporting the unique medical needs and health goals of each patient. Our OB/GYN providers are a passionate team that accounts for the values and priorities that shape a woman's life. Our providers are a dedicated group of OB/GYN doctors, midwives, and nurses passionate about women's health. We strive to give women within Western North Carolina personal attention in a gentle and compassionate manner.
Dr. Holly McArthur was born in Boston, but spent her formative years in England and Saudi Arabia. Dr. McArthur returned to the United States to attend the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she obtained a B.S. in Biology. She received her medical degree from the University of Florida, and returned to Charlotte, NC for her residency in OB/GYN.
Dr. Summer Gilmer, who is originally from Spartanburg, S.C., has resided in Asheville for the past six years. She went to undergraduate school at Wofford College in her hometown, where she studied biology and was a member of the school's tennis team. She earned her medical degree from the University of South Carolina, in Columbia, and completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Mountain Area Health Education Center in Asheville. After her training she worked in Boone, N.C., for five years before returning to Asheville to join Laurel OB/GYN.
Dr. Rita Kaplon grew up in Johnson City, TN and has resided in Asheville, NC since the summer of 2019. She attended Oberlin College in Ohio where she earned her B.A. in neuroscience and a minor in Chemistry. Besides excelling in her studies, she was also all conference and team captain of Oberlin's volleyball team.

Dr. Ruchi Moore is not only an amazing OB/Gyn, she is a phenomenal person. I travel an hour and a half with an extremely busy schedule to see her for my yearly visits. She genuinely cares about my well-being. I am a healthy person with little to no medical issues so I am not very helpful in that regard, however the care and concern that she projects is by far the best from any doctor I have ever dealt with. I highly recommend her and her staff.

I had not been to a GYN in several years as the exams were painful after menopause. I was referred to Dr. West by my Primary Care Dr. and am so glad I followed thru and had a visit. She is very kind, gentle, thorough and explains everything so you understand. I would highly recommend Dr. West and will continue seeing her on a regular basis.

I moved to the AVL area 1.5 years ago but between covid and a new baby, I hadn't had the chance to establish care with an OB until now. I tend to prefer getting care at places with midwives (like the women's birthing center) because I find it more wholistic but I was very happy with Dr. West and would highly recommend her! She was caring, attentive, kind, and knowledgable. I may even seek her care instead of that of a midwife if I get pregnant again! :)

Dr. McLaughlin performed nothing short of a miracle, when she brought in our beautiful baby girl Isabel (12-28-21). I cannot thank you enough Dr. McLaughlin for your expert diligence and of course, your pleasantly sized and meticulous hands (My wife Rene is very thankful too).
