I really liked Dr. Lawson at first. But then, she started hitting me up for rent payments because she couldn't afford her office rent and had hurt her back. Basically prefaced it as she wouldn't fill a prescription without a check for her rent. That's gonna be a no from me dog.

My insurance listed this practice as in-network. However, they have recently changed over to membership-based care and no longer submit claims to insurance. It's a shame that so many medical practices are going this route. If you're not super well-off, no soup for you.

Dr. Karen Lawson outshines all other internists in my experience. I have gone to her for over twenty years and have found her to be knowledgeable, caring, empathetic, and an extremely good listener who takes time with you and makes you feel like you're visiting with a friend.

Dr, Lawson is a great Dr. who listens and made some decisions that are pivotal to my current good health. We fell outout over a series of silly events where neither of us was willing to back down, but while she was my GP her care was very good, and she treated me with respect. She is the only Dr. who never harangued me about my weight which is amazing. Go see her. Her office is pleasant, and convenient.

Dr. Lawson has always been amazing to me and I have been coming to her for years. I also referred my best friend and she has remained a staple there as well. Previously, I had been to the larger practices and I just didn't find that they actually cared about me as a person at all. Dr. Lawson takes the time to actually know her patients instead of you just being a medical reference number which these days, is an invaluable experience. In my house, we call her Dr. Mom and that's how it feels whenever I go in to see her. Like visiting someone who actually cares.

Racist or no? You decide. The appt set up was fine. Just your run-of-the-mill questions. So far so good. On my appt day, I worked from home in the morning and headed to my noon appt. I usually bike to work, and I brought it with me. I called to see if it would be ok, but no one answered. I planned to just lock it up if they said no. I get there, and the guy at the front tells me no bikes allowed and to park it out front in the rudest way possible.

At this point, Arlington being the car free place it is, I decided this place wasn't for me. I took it out because I had planned to anyway. I went back up and started filling out the checkin form at the window. He said I couldn't so it because it's the law? I've worked in healthcare for 8 years and been to the doctors my entire life.

Never heard of this. Must be the new law-going to the doctor's while black. I go ahead and sit and fill out the form, the Dr. comes out and says its not going to work out and for me to leave. I was shocked! Never have I been treated so rudely from someone who should have given care. What say you? Is she racist or does the office just have policies that aren't communicated that lead to bad experiences. I must add there was a Dog in the back, but my bike isn't welcome?

I cannot recommend Dr. Lawson enough. I've been a regular patient for over four years, and she is by far the best doctor I've ever had. She's always been professional and shown me care and compassion. She takes the time to listen and get to know her patients herself, and will be straight with you and give you her true advice instead of simply telling you what you want to hear. I've never had difficulty scheduling an appointment, and she has always returned my phone calls or emails the same day or, at the very latest, the next. If you're looking for a doctor who cares, she's the one.

Dr. Lawson has been my doctor for years now, and it's always delightful to visit her. She's incredibly caring and warm, and she'll help you understand and deal with whatever medical issue you bring to her. In an area as transient as D.C., it's incredible to find a doctor you're comfortable with and can trust.

Beware of going to this office! While Dr. Lawson is fine (nothing great, just your average GP), the office so is disorganized and I believe fraudulent. They charged me out of pocket for 2 visits saying my insurance denied my claims, and when i called my insurance company they said they never received a claim from the doctor. I initially asked why they thought my claim was denied, and the office person ( who I believe i Dr Lawson's son) said, well, because insurance companies are dishonest (who says that in a medical professional setting?!) When I asked Dr Lawson + staff about my insurance company never receiving a claim they said - "oh yeah, there was an error in our system of submitting claims." Dr. Lawson owes me about $300 and this was a couple months ago now. She is essentially working the insurance system and stealing money, so BEWARE. Plenty of other good, honest doctors in this area.

She used to have a full medical practice, in which she was highly disorganized and disrespectful of patient confidentiality. So she is now doing laser hair removal/cosmetic skin care. You may draw your own conclusions.

I give her a star because I am sure she is a nice human being. However, after a blood test she took 4 months to get back to me. Then I called her probably a million times which resulted in no call backs. Finally, in May after writing a detailed email I receive an email back stating that I didn't pay for her visit as well as where I had gone on vacation.

Neither of which is true. I didn't get any explanation to my blood test and I had to physically mail it since she never received an email. I understand after a long nice vacation one can forget details about a patient. But she went out of her way to attack and then recant that she mixed up patients. I know she tried to laugh it off. If you need help organizing hire a good assistant and make sure you respond back to your patients. Aside from that she's a nice person and hopefully is a little more organized. But I wouldn't visit her again

In a complete lapse of judgement, I left my entire medical records file with Dr. Lawson for her to review and return to me on my next visit. She lost the file. I called and stopped by the office multiple times (even having my new doctor's office try repeatedly to retrieve the lost files), but to no success. But really, the reason for my disappointment in Dr. Lawson and my decision not to schedule a follow up visit with her started in the first few minutes of my appointment.

In other words, way before the lost file. When she first came out into the waiting room to greet me, she announced that my previous doctor had been exhaustive and that I should not expect any reasonable doctor to devote that kind of time and energy to a patient - it just wasn't possible. She continued to berate my previous doctor and his practices while I sat in her office, going over my file.

Eventually we moved to her exam room, where I shared my family history and mentioned that my sister was battling breast cancer. Then Dr. Lawson proceeded to talk at length about some medical condition she picked up while on a study tour overseas, trying to connect this back to my sister's battle. Bizarre. I suppose there isn't much risk in laser hair removal and skin care, but she's not someone I would ever trust with my health.

Six years later and I still highly recommend Dr. Lawson. She listens. She cares. She remembers. She has phenomenal referrals. I've never been in better health. And I've never had a better GYN experience. Night and day. The examination room is small and cozy, with dark red walls, soft, low lighting, and feminine whimsy everywhere. Every effort has been made to make her patient feel relaxed and comfortable. Thank you for that Dr. Lawson. I appreciate it so much.

I can't recommend Dr. Lawson enough. She will take your healthcare concerns very seriously and is reassuring at the same time. She is the kind of doctor who will give you her card and recommend that you email her if you are concerned - but she will actually respond within a day. I've never had such a great doctor. I suffer from mental health issues and acne.

Two things that just seemed to be incurable for years. Dr. Lawson has helped me find solutions after fifteen years of being frustrated by other doctors. Make Dr. Lawson your physician right away!

Dr Lawson is the best doctor I ever had. I saw her for about 15 years, but my job moved me to Quantico VA and she was no longer in a convenient location for me. She is very tough when her patients, me in particular, were self inflicting bad health, smoking, no way, obesity, she helped me there too. I miss her!

The thought of finding a new Primary Care Physician had me a bit stressed, but within a few minutes of meeting Dr. Lawson I knew I was in good hands. She was gentle, thorough, caring and an absolute professional. As good as it gets.

Dr. Karen Lawson is friendly and welcoming, and the receptionist, Laura is hysterical. Dr. Lawson is my PCP. Dr. Lawson was great about answering questions and very attentive. Another reviewer mentioned that she only focuses on what is important, and I definitely agree. The location is convenient and there is a free parking lot. I feel very comfortable with her and I'm happy to finally have a PCP in the area.

I've been to see Dr. Lawson a few times; I wanted to establish a rapport before reviewing. As my 5 starts suggest, I love her. I love the office itself, which is decorated in a funky, grown up girly way. I love her receptionist Laura, who is hysterically funny. I love Dr. Lawson herself, because she is a no nonsense, give it to you straight kind of lady. She's both my general practioner and my gyno, which is excellent because she knows how each history affects the other. Dr. Lawson took a lot of time with me on my first visit to identify all of my past issues and those I was presently dealing with.

I never felt rushed, and I was instantly comfortable talking to her, which is not an easy thing to find when you've seen the same family doctor since birth. My annual exam a few months later was relaxed and as comfortable as that can be--she even offered me a chocolate after, which cracked me up. I needed to see her last week when I was overcome with seasonal flu, and she worked me in the same day. As long as I live here, she'll definitely be my doctor!

Dr. Lawson is the absolute best doctor I have ever been to. She is personable, caring and always wants to go above and beyond to help you. She remembers you and closely follows up. Her assistant, Kelly, is really nice and is always very responsive, which is much appreciated. The office is more like a day spa than a doctor's office. It's not sterile like a lot of doctor's offices-- it's low key, mellow and relaxing.

I recently moved to California and am incredibly sad becaues it is really hard to find a good doctor and she cannot be replaced! I don't know if Dr. Lawson is taking new patients, but I highly recommend her to anyone.
