In 1929, the citizens of Lewis County decided they needed a local hospital. In 1930, the County of Lewis purchased the land for a county hospital on the top of a hill leading into town. The cost of the land was $4,500. In 1930, the construction of the hospital began. It was a sturdy building built of solid brick with six towering white posts marking the main entrance.

The doctors are great. Had 1 really rude nurse with dark short hair. She was completely ineffective to do her job at all. Maybe the worst nurse I have ever had.

I hate to ever have to write a bad message. Having a loved one in the nursing home at this time is heartbreaking. You can't see them you don't know what they look like no hugs etc. Believe me I know it isn't easy on staff either. When your sister has a 85th Birthday you want to do something special like send her flowers so they know they are loved and missed.

I want to thank the nurse who let me talk to my sister and who looked to see if my sister had her flowers. She hadn't gotten them. I called the florist they had delivered them in the morning. Upon calling back I am told my sister can not have her flowers! They did let her see them! She said they were in glass! The florist has worked with the hospital and does not send glass to nursing home.

So then I was told the arrangement had carnations which were poison and someone could eat them. I was so upset. I called the florist they made sure my sister got flowers. What would they have done with the flowers if my sister couldn't have them? She is in the dementia unit does this make her less important? They should notify someone. If I hadn't called she wouldn't have had her birthday gift.

It isn't like you can check on your loved ones now. Calling my sister back she received flower she said they were beautiful and she loved them. Finally I got to make her feel good! I usually have good things about all the staff but not yesterday! SAD and HURT!

My experience at this E.R. on Tuesday, November 10 was counterproductive. I could've went to a Syracuse hospital and been home at the same time. Although I was seen quickly. They took one hour to print twelve papers for my discharge. Nine of the thirteen papers unnecessary and unwanted. I listened to them make joke to each other for forty-five minutes.

At the end of the one hour, as I was walking out the door the stopped me to sign my discharge papers, that they had off the printer for at least ten too fifteen minutes. Had I had the power I would punish them. ( via. budget cut, staff assessment and reassignment, A.K.A. fire them )

Had an appendectomy over the holiday weekend. Nurses on east wing were very nice. Dr Kwon was great. Anesthesia went great. They met all their commitments on when my wife could come to pick me up so she didn't have to wait. Big thanks to this place!

Had to go to the ER with my son. He needed his face stitched up. The Dr working that night was amazing. Dr. Mathis was fantastic with him. He diagnosed his foot/legs issues he's had since the age of 2 just by walking in a seeing his bare feet. No other specialists could figure it out over the years. He was very gentle and caring and talked him through each step.

Who Just so happens to be or was a plastic surgeon. He didn't put just the external stitches in. He wanted to do it right and not leave a huge scar. Thank you for the perfect services

Had a scheduled appointment with the dermatology department. Called a week before to get directions and instructions. I left a clear message, and call back number. My call was never returned. I called the morning of the appointment and left another message. This time I explained I needed to leave by a certain time and asked them again to please call me. Having never been to this office or hospital, I needed directions.

I clearly told them this. No call back again. I had to leave by a certain time to travel from Herkimer County. We arrived at the hospital about 15 minutes before the appointment and it took us about 10 minutes to find a parking space. I have a disabled parking tag but there were no spots available and so I had to walk from the main lot. It took another 6 minutes to get into the building.and then it took about 8 minutes to find the dermatology office.

So we arrived into the dermatology office 9 minutes after our appointment time. There was no one else waiting to be seen. The desk person told me that we would not be seen because we are late! We explained the situation but she said it is policy. While she said she is the one who called back messages she would not tell us why she failed to return our call each time. In addition she said she could not make a new appointment for us because the provider is leaving. I find this very unprofessional as well as uncaring and completely unfair.

We had a traumatic ATV accident. Arrived at the ER and the clinicians all were fantastic. They were warm, calm, organized, followed Joint Commission Standards and more. I have never felt that this staff didn't have my son as their #1 priority even though there were plenty of other patients to care for. From the admission person to the ER Doctor, General Surgeon, Ortho Surgeon, Physical Therapy Tech and layers of amazing nurses.my deepest thanks and gratitude. You all are fantastic!

My mother in law was admitted to the ER with clear symptoms of a stroke. She sat in the ER room for six hours, the doctor only ran blood work, told her she had a thyroid problem and could be released. My husband sat there while her monitors were going off and the doctor still wanted to discharge her. Another doctor finally came in and said " this woman has suffered a stroke." The original doctor said it was a new development.

She was then sent by ambulance to upstate hospital arriving and being examined by the doctor there NINE HOURS after her stroke! She then had to be rushed in to emergency surgery because of a blood clot in the back of her brain! She spent one month at upstate hospital and still has no feeling in the right side of her body. The emergency room doctors are a freaking joke!

My recent experience as a hip fracture patient at LCGH, was superb. Following discharge I received out-patient PT twice a week for several weeks. My progress in healing and mobility has been remarkable and I credit the expertise of my therapist for much of that. However, one day she was ill and the person substituting for her abruptly discharged me from therapy after my session that day.

I had never had her as a therapist before and the rehab plan designed by my regular therapist was clearly not completed. It seemed odd that someone who hardly knew me would independently decide to discharge me. I have now arranged to restart PT at another facility, but I regret having my otherwise positive post-fracture experience with the hospital ended short of the finish line.
