Dr. Hartman has been my doctor for over two decades. He has treated all my family members including Laser Surgery. My eye health has been excellent under his care. I highly recommend him.

The Doctor is informative and has patience when I ask questions, and so are the staff\techs. The place is busy and can be a little intimidating for the uninitiated. The only down side was my pre-op reminder text had the wrong room number, but the correct room was back down the hall and an easy fix

I've always had a good experience at this facility, nice office and wonderful doctors. However, I called yesterday 4/6/2022 to see if I could see my doctor for an eye infection that I've come down with. I was told that I couldn't see her until June 30th. I explained that I couldn't wait that long with an eye infection, and was there another doctor who could see me. I was told that I could see another doctor on May 13th. That's still too long to wait with an infection. I'll be going elsewhere from now on.

The doctor and his assistance were extremely nice and easy to communicate with. Also very detailed on my inquiry. I been coming to this office so many years and would referral to my associates. Thank you for looking after my eyes.

Dr, Carl Hartman recently removed cataracts in both of my eyes. The procedure was painless and very successful. I can honestly say that my vision is now better than at any time in my life. Check in was easy and faster than I expected given the amount of people in the waiting room. Everything was done in a timely manner and all the staff were friendly. So, when I receive excellent service and/or care I like to let them know. I had Cataract surgery on both of my eyes in December 2021 and received excellent service from SoCal Eye (Lakewood)!

My visit was very professional, on time, and great Care was given to me by the doctor and the staff. All recommendations were explained to me in full detail leaving me with very much to ask. I felt very comfortable safe and happy with the service.

The optometrist I was attended by was awesome, answered all my questions and made the visit as smooth as possible! I hadn't gotten my eyes dilated before and she was just really sweet about all my nerves. Great experience!

So far I have been very happy with my experience with SoCal Eye. The Opthamologist, Dr Hartman was great. He took the time to interview me and explained my options. The staff is very caring and personable. More to come after my procedure is completed.

I was referred here by my Optometrist Dr. Tomlin. I needed a glaucoma test for pressure on my right eye. I was very skeptical and apprehensive about going here because I had a difficult time setting up an appointment at the other location in Los Alamitos. There is ample parking here and the waiting area adheres to CDC guidelines, so no worries there.

This office in Long Beach has some of the most courteous and patient receptionists and techs that I have met in a while. Not to mention the Dr, I believe his name was Lin, was very thorough, patient and professional. He even made a great joke that put me at ease. Also, I had to wait a few hours In the parking lot for the dilation to wear off and no one bothered me. All in all a great visit and I would recommend So Cal Eye to anyone in the future.

Dr. Jarstad left my elderly mom in a waiting room for 45 minutes without an apology--she offered a snarky remark for the appointment service delay, then gave her a coupon for over the counter eye drop as a treatment plan. Lack of professionalism and perfect care is embarrassing.

The doctors here are very knowledgeable and a great bedside manner. Had an eye emergency and was immediately seen. Grateful for them!

SoCal Eye has greatly improved their customer service. They have been very kind to me. It took me a while to get ready for my cataract surgery, because of my dry eyes, but Dr. Jarstad did an excellent job. She is the dearest ophthalmologist I have ever met. She also works out of Los Alamitos. All of the staff have been great!

Had my cataracts removed here a couple of years ago by Dr. Ling. I'm very happy with how it all went. Went in for a check-up yesterday and there's some dust build up on one of the lenses --- a common occurrence. Made an appointment to have a simple in-and-out procedure to remove it. The appointment, including some tests, went very well. All personnel were efficient and pleasant.

My appointment for my Right Eye Cataract Surgery were all on time. Staff members and nurses are very professional. My nurse Ninette was so helpful and answers my questions with compassion. Dr Clay was so nice and I was taken care of very well. I am looking forward to my next surgery. I will definitely recommend So Cal Eye.

I have been a patient with this group over 40 years total. Outstanding physicians and staff. Have referred several friends, including doctors and nurses to them. I have total trust in my care for glaucoma.

What a wonderful experience I had at SoCal Eye! Everyone that I encountered, that worked with me, was absolutely great. Dr Hartman sets the tone for it all. He is such a perfectionist and he is very skilled. I was very nervous, having gone somewhere else before, where communication was lacking. not the case with Dr Hartman. I had one of the best experiences I ever had at any doctors in sites. Today during my visit I had a Dr assistant I believe his name was Chase he was so amazingly engaging during my visit. He was detailing everything of what he was doing and he actually made me feel very very important and well take care of. like I said going to a Dr visit can be stressful and he gave me a peace of mind. you know. I have gotten good services before but this one was over the top Chase was amazing I did a let doctor Pasquale know about it. kudos for a job well done.

I was recommended here from my eye doctor and it was unnecessary. I went for 3 visits here and was recommended to another doctor as well. The waits were pretty long and it felt like a cattle call. Had to pay for parking. Won't be back.

Was seen at the Los Alamitos office yesterday for a complete eye exam. The office and waiting room was clean and well maintained and adhered to Covid protocol. The technician who started my exam, named Cassidy, was friendly and professional. I saw Dr T Nhu and she was terrific. Explained all that she found on the exam and brought up pictures and test results and took her time talking to me and that was greatly appreciated. I will highly recommend this practice to my friends and family. Joseph G.

I must thank Dr Hartman and his staff for the great job he did restoring my sight. This was my second cataract surgery. Left was done by Dr Hartman in 2016 and holding up strong! My right eye this year went down hill fast, ended up completely blind, could only see a yellow light. I was concerned, just had my surgery this week. I went for blind in the eye to 20/20 in about 30 minutes! No pain, no complications. I can not recommend a doctor more than the service they provided me! You can not go wrong with them.

I have been to many ophthalmologists and Dr Nhu is by far the best. She is very thorough and complete in her examinations. I would give her more than five stars if i could. The whole staff is fantastic! I was referred to Dr Nhu by another specialist as he feared a medication I was taking could damage my retinas. He told me Dr Nhu was the best Ophthalmologist in southern Ca and he had his receptionist make the appointment.

I went begrudgingly, but i am so glad i did. Dr Nhu kept testing and when she thought she found a 'little something' did more testing. When further testing found 'a little something more' she referred me to a retinal specialist, and indeed, i did have problem. I am convinced my old opthalmologists would have missed this and it is only through the diligence of doctor Nhu that my condition was found early. Thank heavens for Dr Nhu!

Dr. Hartman and Dr. Ling are good doctors but this practice no longer accepts Covered California -- Blue Shield of California because the payments are too low they said. They are Out of Network for Covered California Blue Shield of California all Plan Levels.

I am not a new patient at SoCal Eye. I saw Dr Carl Hartman for an annual exam in February and he mentioned I would benefit with cataract surgery. Briefly told me about the surgery and choices I had. Said to go home and think about it and give a call back if I was interest. I did some research and was sold. Called back a few days later and set things up.

Next appointment he went over things in great detail and answered all me questions. Had some extra tests done. He went over the different lens. The best choice of my life. He and his team is amazing. Procedure was more simple than he explained. No issues and I can read with out glasses, sometimes using readers depend on print and lighting. The best is that I can drive at night after over 2 years of just not feeling comfortable. I think, actually, he is more excited that I am! And I am thrilled. All his staff is as upbeat as he is. He is one terrific guy.

I had the extremely good fortune to come under the care of Dr. Trinh Nhu, who caught an internal infection spreading in my eye just in time to reverse its course. With her years-long experience and unquestioned expertise in eye care, along with the rigorous attention and assiduous concern she showed for my well-being, Dr. Nhu prevented what might have been a catastrophic loss of vision.

I can't say enough to thank her, but I hope she knows that for such an exemplary act of healing and restoration, I owe her and her indefatigable staff a tremendous lifelong debt of gratitude.

I am thrilled with my post-cataract vision. Dr. Emma Clay is all one would wish in a physician: she is a not only a skilled surgeon, but a kind and responsive healer, and a natural teacher. As an added boon, Corey in the Optical Department is as helpful a guide in choosing new glasses as I've ever had. She too is a consummate professional and the time it took to choose my glasses was not only amazingly brief, but personally very enjoyable. i always insist that any medical practice I engage with be not only superior in their medical knowledge and skill, but friendly and accommodating. SoCal Eye is as good as it gets.

Dr. Allison Jarstad is very kind and attentive. She always patiently answers my many questions.

Last year, I had cataract surgery on both of my eyes. It was AMAZING. I've always been radically near sighted, and Dr. Carl made recommendations about how to correct my eyes so I could both read and see distance. I had both surgeries two months apart. It's been 6 months and everything is STILL awesome! Being able to see without cokebottle glasses or contacts is miraculous!

Angelina Mc Clean and Kim Loop are the managers and very insensitive towards potential clients. Understanding that required temperature checks are enforced, I've requested that the temperature be taken on the wrist vs the head due to personal preference. Refusing with an insensitive tonality, and lack of education towards proper tools and techniques when requesting a temperature check. Their office was overcrowded as it is, and their staff appeared to be unhelpful when inrequested corporate office contact.

You have to wait at least 45 minutes to see a doctor. I think they are trying to maximize Revenue. But they are minimizing patient satisfaction.

I can't speak to the service and care from the MD's but their receptionist was incredibly rude. I found their clinic through my insurance provider, so I knew that coverage is verified. When I called as a new patient trying to set up an appointment, the staff starts badgering me about what my medical group is, when I already provided all the info that I have on my end.

I tried to politely explain that normally with my insurance info, subscriber ID, and group ID, the staff is able to verify on their end. She tells me that this is not her job and I should be the one calling my insurance to find out this information. I don't appreciate asking your patients to do YOUR work that is a common protocol from any medical setting. Please train your receptionists to be more courteous and knowledgeable.

Great place to get your eyes checked out! Dr. Hartman was able to diagnose and treat me with exactly what I needed, nothing more nothing less. He even recommended something I could purchase on my own to help my condition on top of the standard treatment. These people know what they are doing and if I ever have an issue with my eye(s) again I will be returning for the superb level of courtesy, expertise and treatment.

Had an appt at 0830 and everything was on time and the staff was helpful. Did a bunch of scans on my eyes because the impairment I am experiencing. Received a follow up appointment for a date earlier than expected. Dr. Hartman and Gillian were a pleasure to work with. I recommend to anyone.

I have my follow up visit today and I couldn't be more grateful to this office, friendly accomodating staff, and very compassionate technicians and Dr's. These are already difficult and stressful times, so when you wake up with a possible eye infection and in pain you can only hope to find the help you need fast, but still keep your safety and health protocals in motion.

I called and spoke with Alannie who was so understanding over phone, after describing my symptoms she gave me an appointment within the hour. Was brought in only after checking in and being cleared by attendant outside office as they are taking every precaution with CDC guidelines. I was brought in by super sweet tech (didn't catch her name!) who attentively took notes and heard me out on all of my concerns. Dr. Carl Hartman than gave me a thorough exam and was so detailed in diagnosis.

It never felt rushed, on the contrary they are working with my general Dr forwarding their findings and recommendations. I left feeling very optimistic about a quick recovery and hopeful as everyone in this office had a positive helping energy that is very much needed and appreciated now more than ever!

This place will add a contact-fitting onto your visit without telling you they're charging you for it until after. I paid an additional $90. I've been wearing contacts for 9 years and using the same brand for 2. I DO NOT need a fitting. They also will lie to you and tell you that your insurance doesn't cover eyeglass lenses, when in reality it just doesn't cover THEIR lenses.

They did this to me in the past when I could have gone elsewhere. The "Eyeglass Rule" law that was passed now requires optometrists to give you your eyeglass prescription so they can't force you to purchase their products. If not for this law and me getting more informed on what my insurance covers independently, I might have been manipulated into purchasing more of their glasses. I was already tricked into a fee. I would advise going elsewhere.

Fantastic office for eye exams as well as urgent eye problems! Staff was the utmost friendly from the front doorman to the doctor doing the exam with his assistant. There was a training in process with a new hire & the trainer was the most professional & patient with the trainee. I would want to train here as an eye professional! This particular day I had a lot of appointments where one was for my dog where I had to bring him along for the trip and the staff was so kind & ok with my dog being there. SoCal Eye you are doing a FANTASTIC job! Keep it up!

First time at this specialist and the staff was very sweet and helpful. God forbid. but if I experience the same issues that got me here again I would choose this office.

I came to specifically see Dr. Kwok for my eye exam. He was very professional and knowledgeable. He made sure all the equipment was clean before I came in. He took his time to explain what he was doing since I have never gotten an eye exam before. He addressed all my concerns regarding my eye health and answered my questions regarding getting glasses. I would recommend him to my friends and family.

After 2 months of trying to make an appointment with this group I give up. I was put on hold everyrime I called and twice instead of getting picked back up there was a hang up. Once I was on hold and no one picked back up at all. The receptionist insisted that they didn't take my insurance. After a couple of weeks i finally proved that they did indeed take my insurance.

They insisted on a referral even though my insurance doesn't require it. My doctor sent them a referral twice and they claimed they didn't get it. I hate to trash a place but this was my experience.

Visited the long beach location. The reviews had scared me. But the staff was pleasant and courteous. I was happy to get my eyes checked and treated by the doctor.

This is the MOST NEGLECTFUL AND INCOMPETENT OFFICE! My 80 year father had the most abysmal encounter with staff members and Dr. Jastad. DO, 1/29/2020, he came in for an office visit; Staff contacted me at 2:16pm to inform me that he needed to have URGENT surgery at 7am due to his eye being open and Authorization was needed immediately. At 5:17pm Dr. Jarstad reaches out to me to explain auth was not approved yet and his surgery would be moved to 11am instead of 7am. 1/30/2020 at 9/29/2020 auth was approved office staff indicated needed to go to surgical center prior to 10:30am.

We arrived and checked in on TIME. At 10:38am staff informed us that surgery has to be cancelled because Dr. Jarstad had office patients to see. We were giving NO RECOURSE for how move forward. We had to go to EMERGENCY room to have URGENT procedure completed to save his vision. Mind you he fasted for OVER 24hrs. This is the MOST NEGLECTFUL AND INCOMPETENT OFFICE!

Our family has been coming to see Dr. Nhu since the kids were small. They're both in high school now and we wouldn't trust any other clinic for our eye needs, even driving 45 minutes each way without hesitation. Dr. Nhu is very thorough with her exams and takes time to explain her findings in detail and answer our questions. She's always spot on with her recommendations as well, especially when it comes to my elderly mother. She's had cataract surgery with Dr. Nhu and is ecstatic with her results. Dr. Nhu is a very caring and compassionate doctor, and equally importantly, she certainly knows her stuff! You'll be in great hands with her. We've also been seeing Dr. Bovey, the optometrist there.

The kids love doing their eye checkups with him because he's funny and engaging and also really good at his craft. My daughter's now been introduced to contacts for her volleyball which has helped her game tremendously. The staff at SoCal Eye are all very nice and professional. We'd highly recommend this practice to everyone!

You have the information to improve. HIPAA aside, you can simply do better by taking the time for simple documentation. Good luck!

Thank you Dr Trinh Nhu, nurses and the entire staff for successfully performing cataract surgery on my father last week. The entire experience was seamless. Seeing my father laugh because he can watch his favorite comedies again is priceless.

The wait is always over an hour even with a prescheduled appt. Earliest appts are 3 weeks to a month away. Sitting here now, it's 5:33p and appt was 4:20p. We're paying cash for a stye removal and there's no other appts as the office is now closed but we're still here waiting. I agree with the others that say the wait is ridiculous.

Worst timing ever. Found them on yelp. Waited 1.5+ hours to be seen. You really shouldn't pack that many people in a small amount of time if you're going to run that late. Appt 3:50 and it's now 5:30 and we're still waiting. Apparently I wasn't suppose to have plans in a 2 hour period. There's an expectancy for us to be on time yet they don't provide any insight that the wait would be this long.

When I asked if they always run this late, one of the techs said, it can. I would never go back to a dr office that doesn't consider time as a courtesy to their patients.

My father has been seeing Dr Carl Hartman for many years, for eye issues related to aging. He has received nothing but kind, compassionate and highly competent care! We were sorry when his eye issues required someone more specialized in corneal care, that we would not be seeing Dr. Carl anymore. Dr. Carl Hartman referred him to another doctor in the practice, Dr. Emile SharifI. Dr. Sharifi has shown himself to be a highly qualified surgeon and a compassionate physician.

We could not be happier with the outcome of a complex surgery and the resultant restoration of vision to my 95 year old father. We are so grateful to both these wonderful physicians! And recommend them both without hesitation! We just wish they could fix hearing too!
