Services
The Lydian Center for Innovative Healthcare opened in the fall of 2007. Since then we have rapidly become a national and international destination for hundreds of children and adults who have been unable to get help elsewhere. We start with the question, not of how someone's health may be broken, but of how their system may be confused.
A gentle, low-force chiropractic technique that seeks to stabilize the core of the body, and can have wide ranging benefits for musculoskeletal pain and for central nervous system function. A holistic approach to health and wellbeing based upon the principles of both Western neurological models of muscle function and Eastern models of energy medicine, using muscle biofeedback to identify and treat areas of stress/imbalance within the whole body, brain, and energy systems. The Lydian Center for Innovative Healthcare is a community of independent practitioners dedicated to helping children and adults reach their fullest potential.
Axial Stability Method (ASM) is a precise, gentle, low-force chiropractic technique that seeks to restore the structural stability of the "axial" core of the body. This exceptionally effective, proprietary technique was first developed by Dr. David A. Newton in Wellesley Massachusetts. His student, Dr. Lydia Knutson, has spent the last 10 years expanding this remarkable technique in the fertile, collaborative setting of the Lydian Center.
Energy Kinesiology is a non-invasive, holistic approach to health and wellbeing based on a synergistic combination of Western models of neurological muscle function and Eastern models of energy medicine. An important assumption of Energy Kinesiology is that the body naturally moves toward increased health and organization if underlying stress is removed.

I originally found the practice looking for a pediatric chiropractor in order to see if it could help my 2-year-old who suffered from periodic ear infections. I enrolled my other child (six-year-old) to ensure that he maintained good posture. Both children loved getting their gentle adjustments (I was expecting the typical bone-cracking treatment) and I thought I might as well get my adjustments while I was at the office.

The intake paperwork is a bit overwhelming (especially with 2 small children to care for) but I appreciated the thoroughness and the attention Dr. Andrade paid to my medical history. I had suffered from debilitating migraines (light sensitivity, nausea/vomiting/sharp pain in my right temple) that could occur on a monthly basis or 2-3 times a month for over 20 years.

I always assumed it was hormonal/some sort of food allergy/stress induced and something that I just had to deal with since I don't like taking daily medication and none of the over-the-counter options were effective. After my first treatment back in September 2020, I have NOT had a single migraine. I do get headaches periodically (what mom wouldn't with two little children?) but they are manageable and never progress to the migraine level.

I asked Dr. Andrade if the treatment somehow addressed a hormonal imbalance to eliminate my migraines and she stated that since the first treatment was so effective it was most likely some sort of physical injury that caused my migraines. I was never in any major car accidents (KNOCK ON WOOD!) but did have several surgeries to my jaw and went through several years of orthodontics in my teenage years which most likely were at the root of my migraines.

I feel like I am able to be a better mom and wife because I am able to take care of my kids and family without being debilitated for several days / multiple times a month. If you suffer from chronic pain it is worth exploring to see if this methodology can offer you relief.

My husband is a building contractor of 40 years. In 2012 he began suffering from tremendous shoulder and neck pain. Having visited several orthopedic surgeons and shoulder/neck specialists, he was told surgery was his only option, which for him, was not an option. In 2016, his massage therapist referred him to the Lydian Center, Dr Maya. He was skeptical at first, but was willing to try anything to alleviate his pain.

After only 3 visits he began to experience some relief. At the end of 10 visits he was pain free. In January 2018, he returned for 2 visits to keep himself in check. He is continuing to build houses and has not complained of a sleepless night or chronic pain in over two years!

The practitioners at the Lydian Center have been an essential part of my family's healing from various injuries big and small over the last decade. Their unique and gentle method is favored especially by the kids who happily come to the sessions. Positive attitude and vibe all around in this nice place, including from the front desk. Highly recommended. DJ

The Lydian Center has been incredibly helpful to me in my healing journey! For years I have seen them for injuries large and small and acute and chronic immune system issues. I hold them fully responsible for the structural stability I have maintained through years of being accident-prone! I have worked with all the chiropractors there, as well as their homeopath and Joy Del Giudice (one of their energy kinesiologists) and they are all warm, smart, skilled, thorough and have great integrity.

I recently had a significant concussion and Lydia Knutson, her associate chiropractors, Joy, and Begabati (their homeopath) were incredibly helpful in assisting me to heal quickly from a significant brain trauma. I would highly recommend them to anyone seeking chiropractic care or any alternative health treatments.

I don't normally leave 1 star.but for this place, I wish I could leave a negative star. First, I went to Lydian Center, Lydia, for back pain that was cause from a car accident. I went there for 11 sessions. Not only there was no improvement.but my condition got worse - I couldn't walk the next day. But they keep on telling me to keep on coming back even where there's no change in treatment whatsoever.

In case you wonder what's the treatment like.they will, literally, wave their hand over your body parts without touching it, humming at the same time.and once in a while they will use this pen to "click" on your body part. The whole deal is about 10 min long. Second, when I went there, I told them on Day 1 that I don't want any out-of-pocket payment.

They assured me when my Personal-Injury-Protection from insurance ran out, they will let me know then I can decide if I want to continue treatment. Guess what? They purposely didn't tell me! The reason? Their financial manager, Fred, said - and I quote "Oh, we thought your claim from the accident will cover it.it rarely doesn't" This is TOTALLY UNETHICAL and IMMORAL.

How can ANYONE do that? Gambling on someone's else money? 1) It's none of your business on how much your patient get back their insurance claim. 2) I asked and you told me you would - tell me when the PIP ran out so I can choose to stop treatment.but your office purposely didn't tell me. And they admit it. 3) People don't always get money from claim.

This is my 2nd car accident in 20 years, I received nothing from my first accident and this time, I have to pay bills out of my pocket! NOW.they billed me $1000 (because my PIP ran out) and even after my claim, I STILL have to pay out of my own pocket to cover this bill! The Lydian Center For Innovative Healthcare = Unprofessional and A Bunch of Crooks Please.if you love your body.and have a sense of ethic inside you. Don't go there. PS.

After Lydian, I went for Physical Therapy for 6 months.it took a full 6 months and weekly therapy for my back to heal. The doctor said Lydian Chiropractor did a lot of damage.they totally irritate the nerve on my back and it will take longer to heal because of that. Again.avoid this place at all cost. NO ONE can trust any business that is as unethical as Lydian Center For Innovative Healthcare.

I cannot believe nobody reviewed this place before! I was not expecting much of a 'miracle' when I made my first appointment. Yet, I have been seeing Drs. Maya and Knutson and their treatment has been incredibly helpful. The doctors and the staff are very kind, welcoming and always gracious.

I've been seeing Eve Kodiak at the Lydian Center for a few weeks now. Eve is a warm, friendly, and talentedpractitioner with much experience. She sees clients for many reasons. I've been seeing her for piano improvisation sessions. This is a good outlit for creative expression for me, as well as emotionally theraputic. She's very good at adapting her teaching style to someone who is blind.

I felt very refreshed and like I learned something after every session. I'll be moving soon out of state, but she plans to keep in touch and recommend a teacher for me, and left the door open for future sessions should I come back. Eve knowledge of the brain too as a brain gym pracitioner can be applied to a variety of conditions and problems.

She has authored a book and some CDS. I should say too that the staff there are extremely friendly, and the waiting room is cozy and welcoming. They have water available to drink and there's soft music. Highly recommended. I'm sure all the other practitioners are as qualified and easy to work with as Eve.

I have seen multiple Lydian practitioners for chiropractic and cranial sacral work and have had a wonderful experience. They are a knowledgeable, kind and caring practice. Unlike my experiences with other alternative practitioners, I have found Lydian to be more patient centered. They inquire about my goals for the treatment and include me in the decision making process. The environment in the office is relaxing and the reception staff is extremely pleasant and courteous.

The entire staff at Lydian is expert, first class and first rate. Each practitioner possesses a rare combination of intuitive and scientific expertise that reflects an awareness of the intimate connection and inter-relatedness between body, mind, and soul. Lydia Knutson is a remarkable healer, a unique and unusually sophisticated medical professional.

She has assembled a devoted and exceptional group of like-minded and similarly-skilled practitioners. They carefully and astutely diagnose connections between body structure and function and unwanted symptoms manifesting in physical or emotional ways. Injuries or impediments of all kinds are treated in a vastly more intelligent and integrated way than I've experienced with other medical professionals.

The patient learns a great deal about herself along the way, including how to be more mindful of process and lifestyle, especially in times of particular strain and stress. A confidence and progressive strength develops with understanding more precisely and over time how habitual or reactive movement, behavior and thought bear on one's ability to function well, and how subtle change and improved self-awareness can yield significant improvements.

This practice has a great deal to offer musicians and those in the performing arts. Many of the practitioners are or have been accomplished creative performers or artists in their own right and have first-hand experience with the stresses and demands inherent in the profession. Others have backgrounds that are far more diverse and inclusive than those of most conventionally trained medical professionals.

Several of the practitioners at Lydian have helped me to restore and/or expand the joy and effectiveness of my working and personal life time after time. I cannot recommend the Center highly enough. No health issue goes unaddressed and if testing and/or services outside the Center are required, a useful and thoughtful recommendation is always available. It's a welcoming and serene environment as well.

One never feels rushed, closed in, or trapped in a typical sterile cold medical office. There is natural light, well-ordered space, aesthetic decor, spiritually uplifting music. Everyone is in good humor, has a mature and professional quality of attention, and knows how to listen and engage with clients.

I went to see Dr. Lydia for a chronic condition I've had for three years now called dissertation-itis. Low back, shoulder, neck & head aches misalignments all atop a pelvis that likes to go rogue every now and again. Since seeing Dr. Lydia I now know what my body feels like when it's not in pain. And everyone who has experienced chronic pain knows that it has a tendency to fog the mind, something that as a writer and mother, I could not afford. Dr. Lydia uses a non-force technique that matches her personality.

If my body was in a crunch the openness of the staff, the mellow mood of the office and light filled healing spaces helped me, along with Dr. Lydia's patient attention let go of all the pain. If you are a patient looking for a chiropractor and this is your first time, please search no further than the team at Lydian Chiropractic. The Lydian Center is also home to Eve Kodiak who is the Brain Gym master.

I went to visit Eve to deal with issues of stress and being overwhelmed by the many tasks involved in raising myself and my five year old, and trying to parse all of the factoids for my dissertation. Eve worked with me on finding focus in the midst of all of my commitments. She helped me to prioritize what was important and cut loose what was unnecessary.

I went searching for some exercises to loosen me up at my desk and left with Jedi powers. I'm not kidding. So why are you still reading this? Go get the digits and make an appointment! These are the healers you are looking for.

The Lydian Center is a new and beautiful alternative healing center near Fresh Pond in Cambridge. My primary treatment there has been from Dr. Lydia Knutson, an extremely talented, gentle, and effective chiropractor. Her technique does not involve bone-cracking but instead relies on the activation of muscles that ultimately shift the bones more gently and precisely.

The results are more long-lasting, and there's less risk of injury than with other chiropractors. Several friends of mine have gone to Dr. Knutson and, after just a couple visits, they were effectively cured from debilitating and chronic injuries that traditional Western medicine could not address. Seriously, if I could give 6 stars, I would! The center offers several other alternative-medicine services as well, including homeopathy, craniosacral therapy, acupuncture, etc. It's definitely worth checking out.
