For ER. We had John Welsh. ASK FOR SOMEONE ELSE. better yet, just don't go to Hondo ER. My toddler has had constipation for over a year. That day we went, my toddler was in extreme stomach pain, woke up screaming (never happened before). We went, they took an x ray, then Welsh came in and said "Hes just super backed up. Give him a laxative." I replied "No, this is different, hes been battling constipation for a year, never has it been like this." I even remember saying "There's something more, what can I do?" He kept saying laxative.

I even remember him saying "everything else is fine, his appendix is fine." Went to ER because my child was in extreme pain, ended up having to wait till the afternoon for his pediatrian to actually care. Now we are waiting for the results to see if he has appendicitis. John Welsh was very rude, very unprofessional, and completely wrong. I went in for my childs stomach pains and an xray was used. Welsh didn't even touch my child except to hear his heart. No further examination. nothing. If he doesn't like his job, he needs to leave for someone else to ACTUALLY do the job.

I was just discharged today, the hospital itself ( the room, cleanliness) gets 3 1/2 stars, not too bad. Now the bed side manners.they are very quick to get an attitude if any request was made that would derail their normal work routine, the mistreatment has gotten out of control and needs to stop. I went in for an amputation, and as a newly partial foot amputee I had to walk outside my room dragging my IV, brand new empty water jug after waiting an hour since calling and shout to get their attention, it had been over 6hrs since I'd had oral fluids so I was pretty parched.

Night nurse comes to introduce herself and very jokingly asked me if I was going to freak out and be trouble? (I guess I already got a reputation) So I asked her the same question and she was the nicest coolest nurse there.that was only the first night. Next day the Dr came in to discharge ne ( I did not feel ready since my prior experience with them has not been great) staff got more disrespectful and I lost, I broke down poured my heart out to them while they all said the same line "we understand".no you don't.are you an amputee?

Then you don't, simple as that. Almost every staff member came to hear the stories of the trouble patient, (I'm up all night). Next day the Dr came to discharge me and I expressed my concerns AGAIN regarding going home, and I was discharged regardless with no real solution to my concerns. This is why I give them a rating of 1 but wish I could give them a. 0.

If you have a deep, extensive, dirty laceration in an extremity that needs a thorough cleaning and closing, you probably need a regional nerve block for anesthesia, esp. if the patient is your 10 y/o kid who's screaming in pain when local anesthesia is inadequate. If the ER doc can't do it, they should be able to call in an anesthesiologist (or a podiatrist if the wound is in the foot).

Maybe you'd get the same inadequate care at another ER, but at least at a larger facility in SA, you should be able to ask for someone who can provide a regional nerve block.

I been coming here for years and every time I do I regret it even when as a kid coming to this pathetic excuse for an ER I've waited for hours for them just to give me attitude and mad dog the whole time if there not just sitting around doing nothing they just check your temp and rush you out last time I took a home Covid test in which gave a false positive but I couldn't breathe so I visited the ER and my doctor was Dr. Hayes or Haynes and he told me to come back if I still have trouble breathing to come back witch I did and when I came back he came at me ugly and told me he was offended that I came back and was spreading Covid to his staff witch I was very angry about so I left to San Antonio and found out after getting tested again it wasn't COVID I had bronchitis and it didn't get better for children either they rushed my two month old daughter out told me she was perfectly fine 3 hours later I took her back because she started running a fever rushed me out again well I scheduled a follow up and it was COVID this ER should not be in-service because they're unprofessional, dirty, and don't care about there job everyone in Hondo knows just to go to Santa Rosa Westover Hills because the drive worth the actual help

We had to take our 7 year old daughter to get a vaccination and we just want to say a huge thank you to Connie and Alejandro the nurses that helped administer the injection. They were so patient with her and didn't get mad or frustrated when she tensed up. Thank you for making her day and making the experience for her a positive one!

If I could give this place MINUS 10,000 stars, I Would! I took my fiance in for a serious gallbladder problem on 6/21/2. Due to Covid numbers rising they would not let me stay with him! The issue was serious and they decided he would need transferred to SA for surgery! He waited for 9 hours to be transferred! They stuck him in a room by himself with no call button or anyway to call for help other than his voice!

He screamed and screamed for help, yet his calls for help were ignored! Out of desperation he finally pressed a code blue button! They were irritated with him but Finally got him a call button! By the time he was transferred he was sepsis and in big trouble! My advise is. Do Not Even Take A Rat there for treatment! Nobody deserves to be treated that way and this facility should be Ashamed of themselves for treating people that way! But I guess they figured nobody could see the way they were treating people since all their loved ones were kept out!

Thank you to nurses on second floor who were giving the infusions yesterday! What a professional. cheerful group of ladies! The things you do in such a dark time in our lives is every bit of spectacular! The compassion you have for your patients is rare to find! I love this hospital and especially my doctor, Dr Robert Hays. Best Doc I have ever had OR worked for ( I'm a retired nurse and I have worked for many)

As a person who works in health care and deals with emergencies regularly, I think the wait time is a bit much. I understand that covid is bad, but a simple impaled object or laceration can be treated quickly of the staff would step away from there computers

I feel very blessed to have Dr. Moises Soulas, Yvonne as my primary nurse, and Mark as my anesthesiologist, and the entire team whom I did not catch the names. I was cared for with such love, understanding, and humanity, words don't adequately express my gratitude. Your team, and surely every one at the Hondo Hospital and clinic are doing God's work.

Today is National Nurse's day. I write this review, appropriately so, and leave my deepest gratitude and appreciation to you all, and Prayers that while you are carrying for us, the physically sick, let me say, "our Lord in heaven prepares a special place for each and every one there." May God bless you all, and keep your families while you do his work here on earth.

The doctors at Medina Regional are first class and do a great job of taking care of my family. Dr. hays in particular is phenomenal and I wouldn't want myself or my family to see anyone else. If my review was based solely on the doctors, I would give it 5 stars. Medina Healthcare System has left a bad taste in my mouth regarding its poor management and inconsistent protocols they have put in place to "limit exposure" for COVID.

I can appreciate safety measures being taken to a certain extent but when I'm not allowed to wait in a waiting room while my wife is in surgery and instead have to sit in my car in the parking lot instead until she is released, I don't feel as though that is an appropriate or acceptable level of customer service. It certainly leaves a lot to be desired.

Top that with the fact that I was allowed to wait in the waiting room a couple weeks prior to the surgery for a preliminary appointment and I'm left questioning what the protocol actually is and why it is not being followed consistently across the board. You'd think that at the very most they would limit the amount of people in the waiting room to only the individuals who have a loved one having surgery or having a baby or w/e and tell all other unnecessary guests to just stay home. Medina Regional can thank their team of doctors because if it wasn't for them, we'd be looking for somewhere else to be taken care of.

The wait is ridiculous for the clinic even with an appointment. Both times I have come it has been a 1-2 hour wait past the appointment time for a five minute quick check with the doctor. Both times I have then needed to go get blood work and had to wait an additional hour in the laboratory waiting room. If you have a choice, I'd recommend going to Castroville or San Antonio.

Very disappointed with the service at this emergency room. My best friend had just recieved surgery on her left knee for a meniscus tear, which went well. The next day she went back to the emergency room because she was worried about a blood clot. The doctor that she saw shoved her fingers into her bruised skin near her stitches, this brought her to tears.

The next thing that they did was take her foot and shoved it all the way into her butt and said now look your fine. Keeping in mind she just had surgery the day before this. Then they released her and said what do you expect when you just had surgery. The insensitivity of this emergency room was unacceptable and needs to be changed for those who are dishing out money to be helped and for a smooth recovery. Again, very disappointed.

I went to the ER at Medina Community Hospital on a Saturday night after falling at home. The local urgent care clinic was closed, so I decided to go to the ER. The care that I received was great. The problem was with the individuals in charge of the paperwork for discharging me and for billing. The night I was there, there were stacks of papers in the discharge/payment area and the staff in charge there seemed quite disorganized. Five months later, I still had no bill for the portion not covered by insurance. I called and was told that they were behind on sending out bills.
