From Our Website
At Chelmsford Pediatrics, we pride ourselves on knowing each child and family on a personal level so that we are able to give the attention, love and best possible care for each patient. If you are looking for a warm, caring, and personalized environment for your children, Chelmsford Pediatrics is the top choice. We have six physicians with a combined experience of more than 100 years of treating patients, and two nurse practitioners. Our providers reside in the Chelmsford and Dracut areas and are parents themselves.
Breast milk not only contains all of your baby's nutritional needs but is more easily digested than formula. It also contains valuable proteins (or antibodies) to protect against infections. Your baby still has on average fewer colds, ear infections, allergies, less diarrhea, spitting up and constipation than formula fed babies. Breast fed babies are less colicky. In addition, breast feeding is convenient and free! There are no bottles to wash and it is always the right temperature. Contrary to popular belief, Dads play a necessary and important role in the breastfeeding team.
We are a staff of Board Certified Pediatricians, Nurse Practitioners, and a Mental Health Counselor (beginning May 2020), all with privileges at Lowell General Hospital. We are all parents, active in our local schools and communities.
A vaccine (or immunization) is a way to build your body's natural immunity to a disease before you get sick. This keeps you from getting and spreading the disease. The American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) believes that immunization is essential to preventing the spread of contagious diseases. Flu vaccine: Children younger than 5 years old-especially those younger than 2-are at high risk of developing serious flu-related complications. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends a flu vaccine as the best defense against flu and its potentially serious consequences.
We honor the continuing memory of our founder, Dr. Donald Berman-scholar, physician, educator, leader-who founded Chelmsford Pediatrics in 1954 and served this community for over 50 years. We strive to offer the same compassionate care to new generations of families.
Billing is a time consuming and costly procedure. We bill many insurance's directly. If you are uncertain of the insurance billing procedure, please call our billing line at (978) 256-5240, and we will be happy to help you. If you are not insured or if services are not covered, payment at the time of the visit is appreciated. If payment cannot be made promptly, we greatly appreciate being informed as soon as possible. HMO co-pays must be paid at the time of service, per your insurance contract.
We refer to physicians who have proven their quality and availability to us. We would like to help you navigate the confusing world of specialty care and identify providers who we know will provide good care, not just work at a "brand name" institution. We also want to avoid frustrating insurance denials, so please give us 1-2 weeks to discuss and approve referrals. When referred to a specialist or hospital by one of our physicians, please request a referral from our office staff after making your appointment if possible two weeks prior to your appointment.
This daily food guide will help you give your child the kinds of foods he or she needs at different ages. Consult your pediatrician for the appropriate time to introduce your child to solid foods and finger foods.
