Services
If you are considering radiation therapy, you must first schedule a consultation with our radiation oncologist. Appointments for consultation are generally made in advance through your referring physician, however we accept self-referrals. Once it is determined you are a candidate for radiation therapy, our radiation therapist will work closely with you to schedule appointment times.
Our New Patient Information Packet is available to download and complete online. New patients are requested to arrive at our office 15-30 minutes prior to their scheduled appointment for registration. Please be sure to bring current identification and a copy of your current insurance card. Medical records and diagnostic films have already been obtained from your referring physician. You will be interviewed by the nurse to obtain details of your medical history. The physician will begin the consultation with a physical exam.
Before your arrival, it is likely your case has been presented and discussed at Tumor Board. This is a multi-disciplined group of physicians (surgeons, medical & radiation oncologists, pathologists, radiologists, social worker, etc.) who meet on a regular basis to discuss upcoming cases. As a group, they discuss what the best approach to treatment is for each patient who is presented to the board. During your initial visit, the doctor will evaluate your need for radiation therapy and its likely results.
The process of measuring your anatomy and marking your skin to help your team direct the beams of radiation safely and exactly to their intended locations is called simulation. Although simulation is typically only one session, your physician may schedule additional sessions depending on the type of cancer you have and the type of radiation therapy that is being used.

Dr. Gopal and his team provided excellent care to me through my course of radiation treatments. The outcomes of my treatment are very encouraging. He responded to all questions in a thorough, comprehensive and professional manner. Both he and Dr. Chong have many years of experience in the field of radiation oncology. Also, many thanks to the excellent radiation therapy professionals notably, Sarah, Joe and Karen who administered my treatments as well as Khalida and the office staff who kept everything on track. Dr. Chong is the one of the most wonderful and caring physician I ever met. He explains every procedure thoroughly and answers every question we ask. All of the staff members are all so welcoming and friendly. I felt really comfortable getting radiation there for 2 months. Dr. Chong, Joe, Sarah, and Khalida made the time at radiation postive everyday. They are wonderful!

When I walked into ROC for my first appt with Dr Chong, I was freaked out of my mind with the diagnosis of high risk prostate cancer. Dr Chong explained IMRT treatment and performed one of the most thorough physical exams I have ever had. Dr Chong met with me every Friday to review my progress and helped me navigate necessary hurdles. Communication between Dr Chong and the rest of the team members was good and their encouragement was priceless. I look forward to meeting with him to track my treatment progress. I highly recommend care at Radiation Oncology Center.

First, I am using my husband's email, so it's Elaine writing this and not John. I had breast cancer and one month after my surgery, I had to get 32 days of radiation treatments. I am 72 and had no ideal what that meant. But the Doctor's and EVERYONE told me what they were going to do and what I had to do BEFORE they started the radiation treatments.

And that made me less afraid and more comfortable. I really liked Joe! Joe was a gentleman when he gave me instructors EACH time when I had to hold my breath for 30 seconds while getting my radiation treatments. EVERYONE was SUPER! Elaine =^.^=

Knowing you have to receive radiation treatment is not something anyone wants to deal with. However, if you have to, this is the place to be cared for. Dr. Chong and his staff are so friendly, welcoming, personable, and kind. They made me feel so safe and comfortable. Dr. Chong is extremely thorough and so genuinely caring and thoughtful. The front office staff were very sweet and the radiation therapists were always friendly, efficient, and professional. Dr. Chong also was big part of my pre-radiation care and was a intracule part of my cancer team from start to finish. Glad to say, I'm now cancer free. Thank you for taking such great care of me.

We live in the middle of two radiology locations, but after meeting Dr. Chong we chose to go to radiation in Tualatin. What a thorough, caring, gentle man. The staff is all personable and competent. I was totally pleased with my experience (not saying I enjoyed it or it was pleasurable, but if you have to do radiation, they were wonderful). I was especially happy with Joe and Sarah, the techs, who made me feel cared for, comfortable, and like a person, not a patient. No complaints. I would recommend them highly.

Obviously, this not an environment that a person wants to be part of as a patient. But, since I had to be, I couldn't have been more impressed and happy with the care, treatment, and professionalism that I received from Dr. Chong and his team. The most important takeaway is that they all made feel that I was actually part of my treatment. Kudos!

Being told that you should undergo radiation is worrisome, but from my first visit to Radiation Oncology I felt safe and not nervous. Dr. Chong is the most thorough, thoughtful, reassuring and just plain nice doctor I have ever had. His staff is calming and competent and make the procedures easy and not frightening.

This past summer of 2021 I was faced with some difficult decisions regarding my advanced prostate cancer. I was dealing with a choice of surgery or radiation, or both. My initial consult was with Dr. Chong, and I was extremely impressed with his enthusiasm and thoroughness. His opening statement when we first met was "we are going for a cure!" When the surgery route was not viable, I immediately began the process of setting up a working schedule with Dr. Chong.

His staff was very helpful, cheerful and professional as they took me through the treatment regimen this past fall. I could not recommend Dr. Chong and his staff more highly. And, my journey toward a cure is more certain because of their help.

No one wants cancer, and no one wants chemo or radiation, but sometimes you don't have a choice. That was me back in the early fall of 2021. My recurrent endometrial cancer had invaded my bladder and was causing some very serious problems for me. Enter this most wonderful group of angels-in-disguise who work (more like serve) at Radiation Oncology Care at Meridian Park.

From the receptionist to the medical assistant to the technicians to Dr. Chong (and that other very important person in the back office who helps devise the treatment plan), you could not ask for more compassionate and qualified people to help you in probably what will be one of the most challenging times in your life. I loved the ease of traveling to the facility (worth any drive in my opinion), the generous parking, the weekly physical exams, the encouragement that was offered at every step of the way, the open and honest two-way communication, and the relationship of trust that is so necessary while undergoing radiation.

I would go there again in a heartbeat but hopefully that won't be necessary as my cancer on follow-up PET scan was gone (large vaginal mass with invasion into the bladder, lymph node involvement, and possible omental involvement). I could not be more pleased with the outcome - these people saved my life. You will be in good hands - I promise!
