I met Dr. Williams after finding out (through an appt with my regular eye doc) that my retina was partially detached. I made the choice to become a patient at his office because he comes highly recommended from anyone I talk to who has retina issues. He performed scleral buckle surgery on my retina to fix my detachment (if you know, you know) and has performed a few preventative (laser) procedures on my other "good" eye.

Nothing about eye stuff is pleasant, but I feel I am in the best possible hands with Mohawk Valley Retina. Williams keeps it real and that's what I appreciate about him. He gets to the point and tells facts. I trust him with my vision care wholeheartedly. The office visits are not an in-and-out experience, but I couldn't care less. Maintaining my eyesight is worth a hundred hours in a waiting room.

Brand new offices! I loved seeing Dr Yaz and his tech from his other office in this efficient and beautiful office. Dr. Yaz is an amazing doctor and always takes the time to explain all of your options and post visit care. One of my favorite doctors!

I recently was seen by Dr. Yazdanyar for a vision problem. From the time I entered the building to the time I left, I received care that was caring and professional. The office staff made me feel comfortable every step of my visit. I felt assured when I met Dr. Yazdanyar that I had chosen the right doctor to take care of my vision problem.

Everyone was so friendly and ran every test in the book on me. Then Dr Williams came in to review them. He took extra time to chat and make me feel good about everything. This was my first time here and is a wonderful place with wonderful Doctors and staff.

The treatments work but that can be had anywhere. They all use the same treatments for relevant diseases. My biggest complaint is the way that they schedule. You typically wait for close to an hour past your appointment time before they even take you just to do the eye test and drops. Then you wait for atleast another 30 minutes before proceeding with seeing the doctor.

Then on average another 15 minutes before treatment is applied. All said and done you spend about 2-3 hours here and actually see a doctor or assistant for maybe 20 minutes. I've even heard a doctor say that they over book because people cancel. Well that's foolish and wrong to patients who don't cancel and need the treatment. It's very uncomfortable to receive laser and injections as it is but then you add the anxiety of extreme wait times and it becomes unbearable.

And they do it to every single patient in there. These three doctors also oversee operations at Upstate Vision Center and the same issue happens there as well. I've also had appointments pushed out after being scheduled because they claim insurance won't cover another injection until 5 weeks, regardless of the need for it. After over an hour on the phone with my insurance company, come to find out that is not the case, insurance approves a total amount on the year, not an amount based on weeks.

They said the doctor simply needs to update frequency on the PA, doesn't even need to resubmit. I was approved for 24 injections in a years time, that's 12 per eye, which far exceeds my needs. So a lot of BS has been put into my ear and I still can't get a solid answer. I've also run into all three doctors in the SAME PRACTICE having three different treatment approaches and frequencies for my condition.

This is very unnerving to say the least. Nothing like going to a specialist and being given three different options of how to correct what is wrong. Then you're left wondering if you're actually taking the right path and opinion or not. You are literally another number and income for these places and nothing more. They treat it like it's all generic, no situation is worth a discussion and conclusion of the best way to approach it.

I'm sick of it, and I surely hope to find a practice that holds true to appointment times and actually takes a good look at my situation with the goal to correct, not prolong.

Love this office. I refer to Dr. Williams as my Retina Dude. He is a very talented and well educated Dr. To me there's no one better!

After waiting 75 minutes with my 86 yr. old mother, Dr. Williams came in and did not apologize for the delay. I asked if the appt. would be long as we had been waiting for some time. He didn't even have the courtesy to look at me. His hand literally went in the air and said "we'll take care of it." He began by asking if she stopped taking the drops he prescribed.

She could not remember. Later, he said she was developing glaucoma, and that drops were an option. When I told him I had a question about the drops he responded "were you listening to what I just said?" Without giving me a chance to explain, I had to sit through hearing him give the same explanation. Finally, I was able to say "you never clarified if the drops she stopped taking were the same drops that would address the glaucoma.

That was unclear." He said they were, and left. No patient should EVER be treated this way, and no doctor should EVER be able to get away with this. Absolutely rude, unprofessional and inappropriate!

Dr. Steven Williams is an excellent retinal specialist. I have been his patient since 2004. He has assisted me in preserving my vision. I am very grateful that we have such a knowledgeable Doctor in this area, I was there on 10/15/20, and I felt very comfortable and safe, Safety Guidelines were totally observed by all staff members.

I would highly recommend Dr. Williams; he and his staff are pleasant, professional and compassionate. I needed to be seen on a Friday afternoon while the office was closed for a vacation and within two hours Dr. Williams and his staff met me, diagnosed and treated the problem. If I had waited until Monday the problem would have been much worse and probably required a surgical procedure rather than the less invasive laser procedure. Each of my follow-up appointments have been the same: quick, professional and pleasant. Great doctor and staff!

"Part of MVR's mission statement reads: "Our staff works as a team to deliver the highest level of care with skill, compassion, and kindness, supported by the most advanced vitreoretinal treatment technologies.".Unfortunately, this was NOT the experience we had. A complete lack of professionalism and name-calling from the receptionist and office manager is what we received. The experience left me shaken.
