When Monsignor Aime Giguere arrived in Fort Kent in 1934, he was already familiar with the people of Aroostook County. From the time of his first pastorate, in Limestone in 1921, he had been committed to improving the quality of care available in the County. So after his arrival in the St. John Valley, he began working to meet the pressing health care needs of the people around him.
The Mission of Northern Maine Medical Center is to provide, coordinate, or support access to high quality, affordable health care and to positively impact our communities' quality of life by improving health status. As a charitable organization, NMMC provides general and acute health services to individuals and families in and around the St. John Valley.
Northern Maine Medical Center (NMMC) is a modern, award winning, fully accredited, 49 bed acute care hospital offering a full range of acute care medical and mental health services including: obstetric, surgical, pediatric, psychiatric, acute rehabilitation, and general medical services. The hospital also provides a state-of-the-art equipped 6-bed Intensive Care Unit for critically ill patients and offers the only Child, Adolescent and Adult inpatient Psychiatric Units in Northern Maine.A 45-bed rehabilitation and skilled nursing facility also services the St. John Valley at the Forest Hill Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center.

One of the doctors here were really rude to me, I was also waiting in the patient room for almost an hour already and all they did was keep telling me I had to wait because their is no room in the back? People had just left from the back room and this other patient came after me and you took him in before me?

Emergency services were undeniably top notch, no matter how much time it took. They were careful and thorough - although some interpersonal skills (doctor/patient) would benefit from fine tuning. The follow-up consult and treatment from Dr. James Harris's team was beyond reproach. Because of the care given to my wife and the strong advocacy of Nurse Practitioner, Lisa Eno and Dr. Harris, my wife is alive and well today in defiance a terminal prognosis from doctors at Eastern Maine Medical. We are both ever so grateful for the people at the Northern Maine Medical Center.

Well, you may not want to keep this review on your page very long. On Jan. 16. 2016 I called NMMC to check on the condition of my Mom. The nurse I spoke to told me she was not there and must have been discharged back to Mercy in Eagle Lake. So I figured all was well and I would go see her in Eagle Lake later in the day. A few hours later my mom called and guess where she was calling from, yes NMMC asking if I had her glassed. Now I was upset. What kind of origination is this where they have no idea who they have as patients in their hospital.
