Northern Nevada Allergy Clinic The Patient Portal is a secure, web-based system that allows real time access to certain elements of your medical record. We have two offices, one in Reno and Carson City, to better serve our patients in Northern Nevada. Itchy eyes and ears, runny nose, constant sneezing-those irritating allergy symptoms plaguing many of us throughout the seasons are more common than you might think.

Allergies affect about one in every four people-that's approximately 25% of the population. The good news is relief is in sight with the proper treatment.
Services
Allergies are responsible for more time lost from work, school, and other activities, than any other medical problem. Unfortunately, allergies are often overlooked, misdiagnosed, or simply regarded as nuisances not requiring proper evaluation and treatment. This leads to unnecessary discomfort, progressive exacerbation and complications otherwise avoidable with medical assistance.
When it comes to allergies, credentials matter. Seeking treatment from the highly-experienced and well-credentialed caregivers at Northern Nevada Allergy ensures that you receive the most effective, customized treatment for your allergy symptoms. Jeffrey S. Nugent, MD, FAAAAI, FACAAI is the Director of the Northern Nevada Allergy Clinic.
Our specialists are here to answer your questions and discuss the best course of treatment for your allergies. Unfortunately, allergies are often overlooked, misdiagnosed, or simply regarded as nuisances not requiring proper evaluation and treatment. This leads to unnecessary discomfort, progressive exacerbation and complications otherwise avoidable with medical assistance.
Allergies can affect any part of the body, including the intestinal tract, the bladder, and even the nervous system. An allergy evaluation should be considered for anyone troubled by frequent nasal, eye, ear, sinus or lung symptoms. Allergies can affect a child's study habits, academic problems, and could even lead to a misdiagnosis of attention deficit-hyperactivity syndrome.

Pleasant, competent and testing went quickly. Nice to know I don't have any severe allergies.

Filled out all the paperwork before hand and turned it into their office a week before the appointment as asked. Did the pre appointment digital work as well. Waited almost two hours past our appointment time with my 7 year old. We finally walked out. I called and asked why the wait was so long and they said that's typical for their office. Got a refund on my copay and letting the pediatrician know not to refer to them.

Appointment was at 2 walked out a 3:45. No entertainment provided for kids. I wish they had said we are running an hour to two behind schedule. You guys might want to take a lunch and we will call you when we are 20 minutes out.

Unfortunately this has become an necessary evil in my life. But I'm so glad I started the protocol about a month ago. The weekly allergy shots are pretty easy and a wide schedule to accommodate even graveyard workers like me. Staff is friendly. And most people come in with cellphones or laptops because u sit here for about 30 to 50 min depending on your treatment plan. It's a nice way to schedule some relaxing time or quiet time to get work/emails/checking social media while you wait til your cleared to leave. I'm highly allergic to my animals. Don't suffer any longer come on in. 10/10 would recommend.

Been going for years. Like all places it has its ups and downs. The front desk staff has been very good for a few years now. Dr Reyes is an excellent doctor. Very intelligent but her wait is always late and lately at times over an hour to one and a half hours. At times it feels rushed, other times not at all. If you ask something, it gets answered thoroughly.

She is meticulous. The two stars is because their medical assistants are zero stars and have been almost all the years I've been going there. Too much to write about them and they are a rotating door of staff too. If you want a meticulous doctor, see Dr Reyes. Just know you likely have to wait a long time and if you feel rushed, help slow down your appointment. I know that isn't your job but for an excellent doctor, in Reno at that, it's worth it.

Do not recommend. We had to schedule an appointment 3 months out for my son. Once we got there, we had to wait over an hour and a half. My son is one, so we had to leave without being seen. The next appointment was 3 months out again. Very poor practice. Waiting an hour and a half is unacceptable especially for a one year old.

Dr. Reyes is warm, professional, and caring. She always answers all my questions and never makes me feel like I'm being rushed out. Office staff is friendly and efficient, and the office itself is incredibly clean. Love this place.

Both my daughter and I see Dr. Reyes. She is INCREDIBLY compassionate, knowledgeable, and friendly. I have never felt rushed, and she always takes extra time to answer all of my questions (and I normally have a LOT). The office is immaculate, and I always feel welcomed by all the staff. Definitely recommend.

Love, Love LOVE Dr. Reyes. I wish I could clone her for all my other Dr's. We moved to Oregon and I still come see her. I drive down from Oregon because I am not swapping her for a Dr in Portland or Seattle. It's a rarity to find a good Dr. Update: It's been 3 years since I made my review. I still feel the same. Dr. Reyes takes her time, goes over everything thoroughly.

She is exceptional! Still my favorite doctor. Her staff and front desk are always friendly and willing to help. I sometimes call lasr minute because I will be in town and they have always got me in.

Dr. Nugent is a compassionate, competent, and agreeable Allergist, if a bit busy. The shot clinic nurses are skilled and keep their queue short. The support staff are upbeat and quick in their duties.

After 3 years it's time to update my review. I've been getting shots here for years now, and I still have nothing but great things to say about Northern Nevada Allergy! The staff at their shot clinic are great and work through any line that builds up quick. During COVID times everyone is wearing masks, the waiting area allows for distancing and you can also wait the 20-minute observation period in your car.

Over a week and a half after visiting this allergist and two phone calls in, there has been no response from the office. I could have gotten a test from CVS and just had him avoid eating whatever the test says he's sensitive to and I would have had the same outcome as visiting this office. No interaction, no interest in treating the patient. Apparently my child had a reaction to egg white on the test and sometimes egg white can be ok for people to eat if it's in something like baked goods. I'd like to know if this is the case for my child but this office cannot be bothered to respond such a simple question. Would not recommend this provider to anyone.

Similar to Amanda, I had a billing issue! I do NOT recommend this establishment! 2 years ago, my then 17 year old son started getting allergy shots. I was told he'd be done once the batch was finished. I then see an EOB that they charged him for ANOTHER batch without consulting him or me. Now that he's 19, they will not speak with me! The kicker was when he recently went in and they BULLIED him to pay the entire amount.

I was not paying it until I had answers about the charges. I will be going in with my son next time to clarify exactly WHEN he will be done with this batch and then he will not be returning! They could have handled this way better than what they did. I am VERY UNHAPPY with the office staff!

They have changed staff and much improved! The doctors have always been amazing but the new staff makes for a much nicer experience.

If I could give zero stars, I would. I will be reporting them to the BBB. I have been in contact with the billing department since mid-June, with promises of the practice manager, Jen, returning my call about a billing discrepancy. They have charged me an absurd amount for a service I have not received. Diana, in the billing department, told me when I first called in June that I had not signed any paperwork for the Estimate of Charges.

The next time I called after weeks of waiting for a return call, they said that they "found" the paperwork. I picked up a copy of the paperwork that I supposedly signed. It doesn't look like my signature or initials and is not even close to completed, but they are still demanding that I pay. I highly doubt this will hold up in small claims court. Jen has been avoiding my calls and has not returned any calls to date. Avoid this place at all costs. There are much better allergists in the area. Save your time and your money by going somewhere else.

I do not recommend this place! They have new staff every week that are not trained! We are going for monthly allergy shots but regret going to this place! No one seems to know what is going on.

I had a terrible experience with Dr. Reyes. She didn't even ask me any questions. Nothing! She did test found out I was in a medicine that negates the test and said you're fine it's not allergies! She didn't even inspect my nose or throat. Nothing. She seemEd to have her mind made up before she got in the room. Please avoid her.

Medically competent, I think, although Dr. Reyes did not resolve my medical issue. My disatisfaction with this business is the anti-patient process they use. A large operation, it's sort of a medical production line. Every visit takes longer than I think it should, typically over an hour. It's usually a long boring wait once in the exam room. When Dr Reyes comes in, it's a rush, she has little "bedside manner." NNA is a large medical practice with multiple offices, my review is for the South Reno location.

Dr. Nugent, Christy, Tara, Erica and all the other staff I have interacted with at Northern Nevada Allergy are fantastic professionals as well as good people! It's so nice to have some humor administered along with allergy shots! After almost 5 years of working with them on my allergy treatment, I'm very grateful for the concern and care they have shown me!

My questions are always answered thoughtfully, and they have gone out of their way to work with me on a variety of problems presented by Blue Shield of California (can't give them a good review obviously). I can't say enough about Northern Nevada Allergy, I wish all medical clinics could operate like this one does!

What else can I say besides Dr. Nugent being amazing. I was referred here by my sons pediatrician because my sons previous allergen doctor was HORRIBLE! So I was left looking for another office and especially doctor. After having the appointment with Dr. Nugent he gave me hope that my son may possibly be able to eat nuts or be around nuts again. He has an allergy to ALL tree nuts and hopefully in the future with some supervising we may be able to see slowly give him tree nuts again. Dr. Nugent is not only caring but also listens to your concerns, even if it's a stupid question you ask, which I may ask from time to time, he listens and makes sure you understand everything! I would recommend him and his team 100% to anyone.

The Northern Nevada Allergy clinic is mismanaged by authoritarian Stateist. They quickly take your money and then Christina the office manger and her bullies in the Allergy shot clinic start to harass. One of the shot technicians looks like she is on hard drugs and the other one needs drugs as she is rude and nasty. I got tired on the rudeness from Cristi the shot technition, so I made a complaint to Christina the office manager.

Little good did that do, as Cristi started to attack me in an aggressive manner and make up stories. I had my fill with this nonsense and moved on. If you want to be overcharged and treated in a disrespectful manner go Northern Nevada Allergy Clinic.

Dr. Jones is the best! I had been dealing with chronic hives for months and he took the time to go over treatment options while providing me with plenty of information on all of them. He even drew me pictures to make things easier to understand and always gave me his full attention. After months of dealing with hives coming up all over, at the worst times, I have been completely hive free since my Xolair treatment 2 weeks ago!

I showed up 15 minutes early for my first appointment per their instructions after waiting over three months to get in. I was greeted at the door, but waited over an hour after the supposed start of my appt to get into a room. The room was freezing and I AGAIN waited over 35 minutes to even be seen by Dr Reyes. She was cold and unfriendly, read my chart wrong numerous times, could not make eye contact, and was rushed.

I did thankfully get tested that day but Dr Reyes didn't listen to my follow up questions or concerns, she just wanted shots ordered asap and was annoyed that it was so late in the day. I had been there OVER THREE HOURS at this point because of them! Of course it was late in the day! My experience with this Doctor was subpar and I suggest that if you do go you try one of the better reviewed doctors.

The doctors here are great, as well as all the other medical staff. The shot clinic is always fast, and I've never waited more than 10 minutes to get called up for my allergy shot. Appointments seem to always be behind if you need to see the doctor. Every time I've gone I've been in the room for an hour before someone actually comes in to see me.

Dr. Nugent and the girls in the shot clinic are wonderful but other than that the office is very disappointing. Came in and was ignored by all three front desk girls (one of which was eating at the desk- eww). MA that took me back asked what I was being seen for- I was told by the staff it was time to be seen so you would think it would have been clear. Waited over a 40 minutes past my appt time to see a provider Who seemed very uncomfortable doing her job. Overall disappointing for the level I expected.

While Dr nugent and Shelli APN are awesome and the office staff are very nice, plan to cool your heels waiting in a room for more than an hour beyond your scheduled appointment time. Dr Reyes had no compassion. I've had allergy skin tests many times in my life. Typically, because i am an itching wheezing mess afterwards, the Dr provides benedryl. This practice did not. Reyes came in the room eventually. Started talking about the results.

I was extremely uncomfortable. She asked me if I was paying attention. I told her I was more concerned with stopping my allergic reaction. She huffed. I had to demand antihistamine. My reaction was such that I had to leave. I saw nugent a couple weeks later to discuss the results. He apologized for the team forgetting to give me benedryl after the test. He's a good guy.

What really stood out for me about this office is their communication skills with me and with each other. Each person that I've spoken to at the office have really taken the time to explain things in detail to me until I understood what was being communicated- from scheduling over the phone, to billing, to the front desk, to the MA, to the physicians, themselves, to the gals in the allergy clinic.

All have portrayed knowledge of their roles and patience. When I asked questions that did not pertain to their role, they made sure that I had the name of the person in the office that would be able to answer. All seem to be on the same page. I have been seen by both, Drs. Nugent and Reyes. Both are skilled at what they do and, as mentioned previously, take the time to explain things thoroughly. They speak as if they are educating - which I really appreciate. Both are very personable as well.
