COPD is actually not one disease, but a group of diseases that are characterized by decreased air flow from the lungs. The most common conditions associated with COPD are emphysema and chronic bronchitis.
Services
Northwest Primary Care has been a part of the greater SE Portland community since 1960 when a local physician founded Clackamas Internal Medicine. Then in 1976, two other local physicians created Milwaukie Family Practice. In 1994 the two practices combined to form Northwest Primary Care Group as it is today.
The clinics of Northwest Primary Care are devoted to Family Practice and Internal Medicine. We feel honored and privileged when patients choose to join our clinic. Our team includes our practitioners, nursing staff, and support staff. All members are vital parts of the team working to care for you.
Our mission is to provide the best care for every patient, every day, at every stage of life-and now, we've made it even easier to get the care you need with online appointment scheduling. You can login anytime, anywhere with your My Health Record portal and book an appointment in less than a minute.
If you do not have medical insurance, we offer a private pay option as well as SureCare, which may offer discounted fees for our services. If you are calling to schedule an appointment for a Motor Vehicle Accident, please let our scheduling team know. New patients are not eligible for Worker's Compensation appointments until they have been established for a minimum of 90 days. In order to allow time for paperwork and registration, we request that you arrive for your first appointment 15 minutes early.

I've been going to NW Primary Care (Milwaukie Clinic) for a few years now and am very happy with the level of care that I've received.

My insurance switched as of January to providence and they set me up with NWPC in Milwaukie with Dr shih seemed like she cared about my condition at first. I wish I had looked at the reviews and changed because they are not providence they just take there insurance. If you go to the emergency or immediate care they cannot see your my chart and it's real difficult to make an appt with NWPC She keeps wanting me to come in and I've done labs several times and even though my labs come back abnormal and it's very difficult to get through to the staff on the phone I am getting the run around and you cannot book appts for labs on the my chart or cancel appts you have to call in. Dr Shih does not note anything she discussed with me on my chart visits.

I been to immediate care and emergency since then with providence and the dr notes everything. When I went in to see Dr Shih 5 days ago she again required labs. she had a treatment plan in place. I explained that it's real hard to reach her on the phone. She suggested using the message on my chart and wanted to see me again and had the office make another appt.

The next day she had her staff call me luckily I was off work to answer. The staff member said Dr shih needed more labs so she can put me on some medication for this condition and refer me to see a specialist that takes months to get in. The staff member said the Dr didnt order the specific labs and I have to come in again. The only appt the had was 2 weeks out.

I messaged the Dr and asked if the can send to orders for the labs to providence because they have walk in labs and I can get them to her sooner than 2 weeks. I got a response that she changed her mind and is not going to put me on the medication and I will need to wait to see the specialist. I am so confused. The office staff said because I dont have a follow up appt with Dr Shih. Cearly the appts were showing on my chart and the treatment plan.

I adv them to cancel all my appts with Dr Shih and I will have to wait till Aug for my new Dr with Providence. I should have looked up the reviews in the first place before signing up with them.

Hands down. The worst clinic now. Been seeing them since I was twelve. I'm now 43. They won't return calls. On hold for over 30 min. Never. Never again. Waited three days for a Dr to call me back. Got the nurse because the Dr was too busy. Said, 30 patients and dint have the time. Concierge from now on.

Absolutely the worst clinic our family has ever been to. Dr. Moravec is not too bad but the front office and billing are truly horrendous. I wouldn't recommend this clinic to anyone.

PATIENT BEWARE: My father has been attending this physician's office for more than 6 years. After recently being diagnosed with heart failure and blood clotting, he became 100% disabled. He applied for Care Oregon as a SECONDARY insurance to help offset some of his medical expenses because of his new life threatening disability. Today, he called this office to give them his new secondary insurance and he was immediately told that he could no longer be a patient here.

When I had him inquire why, the receptionist lied and said it was illegal for them to bill his Blue Cross insurance if he had OHP as a secondary insurance. This is not illegal, this is a personal business practice decided by the corporation. I am disgusted that because of my fathers disability this corporation has decided to discriminate against him.

This has caused immense and unnecessary stress to my father. In addition, they had the audacity to tell him to IMMEDIATELY cancel his Care Oregon insurance plan if he wanted to continue care and have his routine blood work (for his blood clotting) on Friday which gives him less than 5 days notice to try and find care! This office has chosen to put my fathers life and health on the line over money and laziness because they don't want to bill a secondary insurance!

This corporation completely lacks patient care and does not stand by their core statement/policy of a "zero tolerance on discrimination." I don't understand how this office can discharge a patient over their choice of secondary insurance. And why he cant stay a patient and have the provider solely bill his primary insurance, which is an insurance plan they accept.

To patients seeking care- Please use cation when beginning care here, not only will they discharge you like you are nothing. they will bankrupt you in the process. If you want good patient care- go else where this would not a good place for you.

Excellent intake/reception, nurses, and Doctor experience. A breath of fresh air. For the first time in years a Doctor actually knew about the disease/issues I have and what to do about them or make the referrals. I can already feel and see the results and it has been less than 48 hours (your results may vary, of course). Thank you NWPC and Dr. Shih!

If there was a negative star I would assign that. The Dr was rude to my mother. And told her that she was only welcomed when she wasn't sick and. Even after she tested negative for COVID twice she walked into the lobby telling her to go to the emergency room if she felt like she was going to die in front of other patients. I think that's a violation of HEPA.

The staff is helpful and accommodates the personal needs of their patients. They go above an beyond to make sure my physical health, housing stability, and mental health, are in top shape. They've offered me information and connections to outside resources when I've been in hard situations, and always make sure I get the medication I need. They take the time to answer my questions and concerns without making me feel judged or embarrassed.

I personally travel a little further, just to go to this particular location over the closer clinic, because of the superior quality and atmosphere. Dr. Moravac is very kind, and the head nurse, Shelly (not sure on the spelling) is a rockstar. I always recommend this location to friends.

If I could give them a 0 star I would. I was treated horribly. I was told to come 10 minutes early to do paperwork because I have never been a patient there, never got it. The front desk workers were Snapchatting and repeatedly calling someone because they had no idea what they were doing. The MA was the only person I had contact with who seemed as if they kinda know what they are doing, she didn't know how to instruct me for a urine test.

Then the DOCTOR Callahan I believe is her name, no knock, just busted in the door made me jump, she was out of breath and repeatedly sighing as if I'm waisting her time with my concerns. she sat down with her hand under her head like she's tired, told me Yupp that happens, and then went to check my urine test, with the door open yells yeah your good, there "lab" is a counter in there hallway, never seen that before.

If I go in to my regular doctor and they find out there is something wrong I'm going to be very upset. I hope nobody goes and has similar experiences with her or anyone there nobody deserves what I went through!

It was my first appointment with Dr Rhodes and at NWPC. It was an excellent appointment as Dr Rhodes reviewed my medical history listened to my concerns, addressed them and setup some preventative measures to help me maintain a healthy future. I

I have been going here for over 10 years seeing Dr. Subra who is amazing. BUT if you no longer have insurance and get on Care Oregon, they send you away with no care of any kind. You need to find another provider. We no longer will provide this "primary care" they say they offer. Their website says they accept this, but they don't. Thanks for nothing. Oh, and if you have a lifelong running prescription, you're screwed.

I have been going to NWPC in Milwaukie for nearly 20 years. Great doctors are a rare breed now a days and Dr. Subra is an exceptional provider! He is thorough, kind, and truly LISTENS to me and my concerns. I trust that he cares about my well-being and I really appreciate that!

My appointment was later in the day, so I expected a delay with the Doctor. Which happened, but that was fine. The staff and Dr. Rhodes were efficient and not rude at all. They made an uncomfortable visit bearable. I definitely recommend them.

Dr Rhodes is a compassionate caring doctor who listenes to you and explains things in layman's terms and follows up on how you are doing. He's the best Dr I have seen in Oregon and I have seen a few! I totally trust him with my care!

Been going here for the last 6 years, I love the quality of care and I love my doctor. Doctor Subra is the best, but when I have had to see other providers the quality is still the same. Great Health clinic. I recommend it to everyone

Dr. Herber is a wonderful doctor. She is compassionate, cares about my well-being, and is honest. She's also funny, which is wonderful and helpful when you're feeling bad. I have seen her only two or three times now but I trust her and am very comfortable in her care.

Insensitive and greedy. Initially I was assigned Dr. Callaghan at the Milwaukie clinic in 2018. Everything seemed to be going well until I disclosed my sexual orientation and after that the appointment felt uncomfortable. The next visit I was assigned Dr. Morovec without my knowledge or input. Secondly, I had an outstanding bill (general visits, labs) and I was trying to make payments. The pandemic hit and the office refused to work with me and further and sent me to collections. Now Court. During a pandemic.very insensitive. Very greedy. Do not recommend.

I have been coming here for at least 15 years and the doctors and staff have been nothing but helpful and friendly. Dr. Rhodes is fantastic, a good doctor is incredibly hard to come by. I think most mean well, but don't listen well. Dr. Rhodes listens and genuinely takes care of me, it's very much appreciated. It's not always easy to see your primary care physician right away, but if needed their other staff members come through in a pinch.

They are also quick to reply to emails which is great. With chronic conditions I don't necessarily want to be seen every time, they know what I'm going through and need and take care of me. Thank you Dr. Rhodes and NWPC staff.

This place have no empathy. During times of wildfires and a pandemic. They still would not see me without a deposit, even though i have chest pain, sore throat, cough. They do not care about anything but money. They do not care about stopping the spread of covid, unless they get money. I get it people want money but to what extent do all of us have to go through before they help us. Welcome to america. The land of the crooks.

I had one visit with Dr. Callaghan and she was able to let me down twice from that one office visit. I came to her with 2 issues: my endometriosis pain and wanting to get therapy. We talked about going to see a therapist and she mentioned that there was a group in the building. Great! She said she would get that going for me. A week and a half went by and no word from her office for scheduling an appointment.

I called and was told there was no referral to see a therapist. I don't know what else I have to do to make her understand that I needed help. Mental health is not to be taken lightly at any time especially now. I am glad that I have a good support system at home to help me through these hards times or things would not have turned out the same.

I hope you don't do this to someone else who may not have that support. Crying, shaking, and asking for help is not enough. The referral she did give me was for a gynecologist. I specifically told her I wanted to see a female doctor. She picked out a group of female doctors and there was one she referred me to, Dr. Susanka. The office calls and I make an appointment to see this female doctor.

The day of the appointment comes, the nurse checks me in, takes all the information, and tells me that "he" will be in shortly. Wait! He! I told her that I was supposed to see Dr. Susanka who is female. I start to shake and have an anxiety attack because this is not what we talked about or planned. After leaving the office very upset, without seeing the doctor, I call Dr. Callaghan's office to find out where things went wrong.

The front office was no help at all and when I say, at all, I mean it. She did not say anything. I calmly explained what had happened and asked where things went wrong, she first said that the referral was for the group of doctors. No, I am looking at the referral in My Health Records and it says Dr. E Susanka. Dr. Callaghan also set me up to see a doctor that was not what I needed. I need a surgeon and Dr. Susanka is not a surgeon. Why were so many balls dropped with my one appointment? I can not trust this doctor to listen to me and my needs.

I came into the office to discuss changing my anti-depressant meds and also for chronic pain caused by my recently diagnosed TOS (spine and nerve issues.) Dr. Davis was rude and condescending from the start, interrupting me literally every time I spoke, even tho I was only trying to answer his questions. His questions that were more like an interrogation than trying to help. Things worsened when he asked where I had gotten the meds prescribed.

I told him I went to ZoomCare - he scoffed condescendingly and said "well that's not very good care." in an accusatory way. I replied "well it was only for a prescription, and I've been on it for a year, so they did what I needed" he replied "Did they? Because you're here now." bottom line, I went in for chronic pain and depression looking for help and instead I was berated with reasons I was wrong and spoken down to the entire time.

He wouldn't even discuss a change of meds because he said I was wrong for wanting to change. I'm sure the rest of the staff are great, but DR. DAVIS was the most disrespectful medical professional I've ever spoken to.

My 6 year old daughter has been dreading her flu shot. After we settled on an adequate prize for getting g her shot we went to the Milwaukie office on a Saturday morning. Taylor was our designated shot giver. I was nervous for her because my daughter has a tendency to make a fuss. My daughter warmed up to Taylor right away. When the shot was given, there where no tears or even a frown, she even said it didn't hurt! Thank you Taylor, you are incredible. She is still talking about you!

Waited 50 minutes to be seen. Scheduling told me the two items that I wanted to be seen for were not a problem, when I finally got called in to see the doctor the doctor said they could not help with those 2 items. One of the items she wanted me to schedule multiple appointments for. Total waste of time. So we discussed other items, and the prescription the doctor prescribed never got sent to the pharmacy and when they tried to look it up the management couldn't see anything prescribed.

Then they said they would refund my visit due to the inconvenience and still haven't. It's been over a week and they will not return my call. They are unorganized and don't seem to have any sense of service.

I give this 3 stars because it has been a very split experience for me. I saw Dr. Bryden and she was AMAZING. I'll keep going back for her. However, one of their front desk workers is horrid. I thought she was having a bad day at first, but she just kept being rude. She was very short with me and impatient. When I asked questions over the phone she was extremely sarcastic and sounded like talking to me and taking down my appointment was the worst part of her day.

I was trying to find a good date that worked with my schedule. I can rarely miss work. I wish I knew her name, because I got off the phone speechless. She was getting more and more upset as the phone call went on. I told her the reason for my visit (a follow up check up that Dr. Bryden asked me to schedule and that they kept sending text reminders about).

She didn't like that response and wanted more details so I gave it to her. She just kept telling me I wasn't making any sense. Then when we tried to schedule the appointment. I couldn't come on the first two options she gave me. She got angry and said well you're just going to have to get over it and come a lot later. I said that's fine since it's just a check-up follow up.

She huffed and puffed at me and scoffed and would say omg under her breath (as if I couldn't hear her). I don't know if this woman was just done for the day or what but it was a horrible experience trying to set up an appointment and I only wish I knew her name to give her boss. I never lost my cool and kept trying to be as nice as possible to her. You should be a friendly person if you're going to work at a front desk.

Completely uninterested in helping solve my chronic pain problems. I wasted so much time, resource, and money, trying to find a source for this pain I'm living in. My PA appeared to care at first then gave up when blood tests didn't immediately tell her what was wrong. She just gave up. She prescribed me Aleve, refused to give me a referral to a rheumatologist, and just moved on after taking my money. Abominable.

This review is for Dr. Leslie Bryden. The office staff was professional as I made my initial appointment and great when I was in the office for my first time. Dr. Bryden deserves more than five stars. She was incredibly patient and thorough. She let me know I could email her through their portal. I have done that, and she has gotten back to me within a day or so. Not bad considering how busy her day is seeing patients. I highly recommend her! (I don't have experience with the other doctors at the practice yet.)

New to the area. Tried to make an appointment today, but forgot my insurance card at home. Was told they cannot be bothered to look up your ID number based on name and employer or even wait for you to call back with your ID number before scheduling an appointment (like pretty much every other Dr's office on the planet). And that's how you lose customers.on to the next clinic with competent scheduling.

I had a 10:45 appointment with Dr. Callahan. I waited in the outer lobby for thirty minutes, then went and asked reception, they said it would be just a few more minutes (I had my two very busy toddlers with me). Then they took me back into an exam room where I waited thirty more minutes. When she finally came in I told her I felt like my time was disrespected.

No joke, she told me "it's not fast food." Um. ok. Anyway, she is my pcp, I was there for a referral for a specialist. She was obviously angry with me at this point, so she writes the referral and takes off. Doesn't ask me any routine health questions or perform any type of exam (although it has been over a year since she has seen me). I want a pcp who actually values my time and my health. Looking for new insurance ASAP.

No matter how many times I've informed my Dr about allergies, how many times said Dr seen it in my charts and everything else, they still ignored everything I said. No matter what it was. I had a panic attack, and was told to just breathe, center myself and count backwards. Gee, never thought of that. I had a cyst, and he said the pain was in my head. When my back was broken, he said I was fine, it wasn't bad. My iud was inserted wrong. Never going back.

I've been seeing Dr. Leslie Bryden for years at this location and I don't see how anyone can complain about this place. All the nurses and staff have been so very kind to me since day one and like I said, I have been going to this place for years. In times when I needed to be seen and Dr. Bryden wasn't in, the other doctors that I saw were kind and great as well.

Good quality health care practitioners are hard to come by, so I hope Dr. Bryden doesn't leave anytime soon. She treats me with kindness, respect, concern, non-judgement.the list could go on. I feel like she really cares about my well being and she never rushes me out the door like many doctors I've encountered. Thanks NW Primary Care, Dr. Bryden, and the wonderful staff here.

I've been seeing Dr. Seetharaman since he helped diagnose my lymphoma back in 2013. He's a personable doctor who's been willing to answer any questions I've had. I'm very skeptical of the medical industry, as I've been peripherally involved in medicine through my work as a programmer. I've encountered lots of medical professionals (doctors, pharmacists, anesthesiologists, nurses, etc.) who work very hard to convince you they know things they don't actually know.

Statistics are hard. But avoiding them can be fatal. Dr. Subra doesn't do anything like that. He's patient and responsive to my skepticism and my unwillingness to take drugs I'm ignorant about. I even challenged him on the inclusion of the pseudo-medicine "acupuncture" flyer they have in the office. He, again, responded gracefully and suggested that if it helps the patient, so be it.

As for the rest of the clinic: The online tool is great, perhaps not as good as the EPIC tool used by my oncology clinic. But still a good tool. The lab team are friendly and responsive, and the phlebotomists have all hit the vein on the 1st or 2nd try. not bad compared to the PET scan guy at a local hospital who bled me like a medieval leech! 8^) The front desk has always been friendly and the wait time is usually under 10 or 15 minutes. I think the longest I've waited was when they squeezed me in after having been infected with the flu (which can be bad for a cancer patient).
