An MRI is a diagnostic procedure that uses large magnets, radio frequency pulses and a computer to produce detailed images of organs and structures within the body. A computed tomography scan (CT or CAT scan), is a diagnostic imaging procedure that uses a combination of X-rays and computer technology to produce cross-sectional images (often called slices) of the body.
If your healthcare provider orders an MRI, CT Scan, Arthrogram or X-ray, you have a choice where your test is performed. Choosing Open MRI & Imaging of Asheville can save you hundreds or even thousands of dollars. We will be happy to deliver a no-commitment price estimate (no appointment necessary) based on your current insurance plan.
If yes, please proceed. If not, please contact your referring physician to obtain an order. We accept all physician-signed orders, even if they are on a hospital order form or prescription pad. A scheduling representative will contact you to collect additional information and schedule your appointment.
Understanding the radiology referral process allows you to be an informed patient and price conscious consumer. Knowing your options gives you the power of choice in addition to saving time and your healthcare dollars. At your examination, your doctor orders a radiology test (MRI, CT, X-ray, or Arthrogram) to help diagnose and treat your medical problem.

When they called to schedule a referral appointment we were told we would have to pay $800 for the MRI. My parents are native Spanish speakers and tried their hardest to communicate in English with whoever was on the other side of the call and explain to them that their insurance verified it was in network and the copay should only be $200. After a few struggling moments, my dad finally asked if they had anyone that spoke Spanish all she said was "no" and didn't offer any other resource like a phone interpreter.

She said "i'll call you back" in rude tone and NEVER CALLED BACK LOL. It's 2022 when are medical offices and providers going to be accessible for all? Honestly take your service somewhere else. If you're going to pay out of work might as well be with someone who treats you nicely.

I went for an MRI at the Asheville office of Open MRI. It was Saturday evening at 6:15, rainy and cold. And yet it was the one of top two Healthcare experiences I have had. DOTTIE, ALETHA, and NICK were all awesome. They worked as a team, communicated extremely well and made me and the clients that evening feel welcomed and we were very well taken care of.

The process to get the MRI from checking in was seemless. Dottie's warmth at registration, Aletha's caring and reassuring nature answererong any concerns I may have had, and Nick's knowledge of the procedure and preparing me for what was to come all was world class. I am serious WIRLD CLASS. I have been in Healthcare virtually all of my professional career. And they top drawer. I want management to know. Thank you Dottie, Aletha and Nick! My best, Jerry

From the moment I walked in the door the staff was ready to help and super friendly, check- in was simple. Aletha helped me to the back to go over a few things, Kent was my technician, explained what would transpire and answered any questions I had. Great experience at Open MRI, was in and out in no time.

So I got a call to get my husband scheduled for a scan and Kelly (the lady that called) said she can not schedule and appointment because she needs my husband's permission to do so, as it is prohibited by hippa law for anyone else to schedule an appointment but the patient. So I called my lawyer, and he advised that this information is incorrect. I called back and Amanda answered (very rude person, with a bossy attitude) told me the same lie and HUNG UP ON ME.

Please have your employees read HIPPA Law before making such accusations. I make all of my husbands appointments as he is a busy working man and never had this issue with any other hospitals.

Beth and Aletha put me a total ease as they did the scan. I'm a bigger person, and they didn't flinch once when it came to my size. They were very kind and did their job well. They even managed work with all the hair on my head! It was great! We had a few laughs then they made sure I was steady on my feet and sent me on my way! If I ever had to do this again, I would love to work with them! c

I had to have an MRI with contrast done on my shoulder. Super helpful staff and was a very painless procedure. If its beautiful weather, they have rocking chairs out front of their entrance. The doctors and nurses put you at ease by explaining the procedure very clearly.
